Absolutely!  In fact, the more precise my language is, the more annoyed/annoying I usually am.  It's those casual posts that let you know I'm impressed/in a good mood!

Hello Ujalu!  Very interesting idea you've got here...  Might I suggest a small name change, however?  Two reasons:

1) Unless I'm very much mistaken, the name Angalhach is a combination of the Tolkienian Quenya word anga, 'iron' and the Tolkienian Sindarin word lhach, 'sudden flame'.  I know that we try to avoid using Latin-esque terms to describe our entries, so I'm pretty sure that applies to this as well.

2) If the Ifer'hém Elves mine and use this metal, then why not have its name be in Styrásh?  Perhaps something like 'burning stone' or the like...

Actually, Ysuran, there's no problem with the name derivation... this site is, after all, a tribute to Tolkien!  We quite deliberately included 'mithril' as one of our metals, for example, and 'ithildin' - so perhaps we should add 'anga' to the list as well?

We simply avoid overly 'Latinate' derivations because they tend to detract from an authentic medieval atmosphere.  It is, however, a good suggestion to include alternate names, usually the words used by the main language groups - and particularly by the main metal users, the dwarves!

If we need a Thergerim term for this metal, I'll see what I can do...

Ahhhh, good point. I didn't know we had our very own 'ithildin' metal?  Very cool.  I think the name for this ore in Styrásh would come out to something like efér'galnós 'burning stone' (shortened from eferí'galnós) or galnós'eferís 'stone of fire', it is up to Ujalu...

IIRC, we do have something known as 'burning stones' in Tharian.  I'm not sure if the elves are familiar with the substance, and what they might call it if they are, but it might not be such a good idea to use that name in any case.  This substance is supposed to be some sort of metal, right?  Perhaps something that translates as 'burning steel' or something similar might be better.

As of yet, we don't have any words to describe metals or ores, so maybe something like efér'ilaról, meaning 'burning silver', would do the trick.

Maybe.  Or we could just get Arti to invent a suitable term for us.   devilish
