The tale of Ehei's Mistake is told to small Brownie children to warn them of the bad things that will happen to them if they don't respect plants, animals and their spirits. It features a vain little Brownie who insists on picking flowers to ornament her beautiful green hair. Eventually she is turned into a pure white Rat Brownie as punishment.
 

This myth is told by the Llaoihrr Clan, particularly at the Harvest Festival in autumn when the Pfepper seeds are out. The Brownies dislike the hot, spicy taste, and tell a story of how this strange flavour came about. It also explains why the leaves are often woven into traveler's clothing, for the Brownies believe the plant's spirit will help to protect them from any wandering malicious spirits.
 

This is a Brownie fairy tale, popularly told just before the little ones go to bed. Parents tell it to warn their children not to become too obsessed with one thing, or they will forget everything that matters. The children however, they love it because they hope to one day find Magic Wings, just like Taik did. They do grow out of this belief by the time their Choosing Day comes along, though... - The fairy tale was recorded and stored in the Council Tree by Cerubell Bluebark, member of the Scribbler's clan, who also translated it into Tharian. 
 

The below story is a myth, told by the various groups of Vale Brownies. The version written down below, translated to Tharian by the Brownie poet Tee'n Brownbark and stored in the Council Tree, is the best known, as told by the biggest group. It is a tale that not only explains the names for Sorceress' Peak and the Mountain of the Chieftain, it also covers how the Darkwood became so impassable and even warns the listening Brownies not to trust humans too much, as their emotions are fickle and their tempers short.
