WIND
SPELLS:
SHADOW
(LEVEL
VII) |
Spell Effect. This spell is often used by
mages to flee from combat in case the tides seem to turn for the opponent's
side, and does mainly two things: It creates a perfect illusion of the caster on
the spot he/she is standing, and it also grants the caster invisibility for a
small amount of time. In this spell the
cár'áll is split. At the illusion left behind the
Element of Earth is predominating,
while at the leaving mage the Element of
Wind prevails. The equilibrum is restored the longer the spell endures, so
that the illusion fades and the mage reappears again when the elements are
re-distributed equally. The illusion stays in place for about 10 minutes or
until touched, however it does not move at all, therefore skilled mages may
quickly understand what has happened. This spell is somewhat easy to cast,
however it cannot be cast on other targets than the caster.

Casting Procedure. The caster has
to throw a small portion of silver dust in the air while quickly uttering the
formula. If the spell is successful, the dust will flash before disappearing,
and the illusion will be in place.

"non-leading" or "mis-leading".

Duration. The illusion lasts for about 10
minutes, but vanishes if touched. How long the caster is invisible depends on
the level, and is generally 3 minutes for level 7 and 1 minute per level beyond
7. If the caster is disturbed while retreating, the equilibrum the spell shifts
will also be restored instantly.

Counter Measures/Enhancing Measures.
The clairvoyance spell Sense Aura (Level II) can
find the caster, and it will also sense that the illusion has no
cár'áll. Other clairvoyance spells
may as well sense the caster while he is invisible. Also if an arrow or anything
touches the illusion material it will vanish.
