WIND
SPELLS:
TOUCH
OF FATE
(LEVEL
VII) |
Spell Effect. A
spell widely used by wizards to quickly and silently kill someone, Touch of Fate
makes the caster able to drain somebody’s
cár'áll
on skin to skin contact. At the initial level, this spell will leave someone
unconscious, on higher levels – dead.
As described in the book "Advanced Wind Spells and How to Counter Them" by
an early Ximaxian Archmage, whose name is lost, Touch of Fate makes the
caster’s cár'áll
temporarily able to lead and store another being's
cár'áll.
The process is controlled by the caster, and can thus be activated at any given
time while the contact lasts. If activated, the caster’s
cár'áll
will immediately drain as much of the victim’s
cár'áll as possible, giving
it to the mage. The mage must then use the
cár'áll
obtained before the spell is terminated or ended, otherwise it will combust,
dealing equal damage to the caster’s own
cár'áll.

Casting Procedure.
The caster has to draw a symbol for fate with his own blood on his right hand,
then utter the formula while concentrating. If successful, his hands will glow a
ghastly blue color, then return to their normal state. After that, the spell is
active and usable.

Counter Measures/Enhancing Measures.
This spell can be countered by preventing skin contact with the mage using it,
or by magic resistance spells. Also, if the spell is dispelled after the mage
has taken someone’s cár'áll,
but before he uses it, then it will combust and destroy as much of the
caster’s cár'áll
as he drained.
There are no known ways to enhance this spell directly, however, spells that
increase a mage's power will also make this spell have a stronger effect.
