XEUÁ
SPELLS:
PHYSICAL
SHIELD
(LEVEL
V) |
Spell Effect. As
known among students of the Magical Academy
of Ximax, the
Xeuá principle consist of the
antagonistical principles of Ahm and
Soór, the "passive" and the "active"
parts of being. While these two are usually in balance, Physical Shield makes
the active part, Soór, dominant, thus
creating a magical shield of force that can be used
to stop any physical object from passing trough. The strength and size of the
shield depends on the power of the mage casting this spell. As this spell is
quite draining for the caster, the shield does not last long; however, the
caster can make the spell less draining by lowering the power of the shield when
it is not very urgent to use it, without terminating the spell. If the need
arises, the shield can be put to full power again in the blink of an eye.

Casting Procedure.
The mage has to speak the formula while imagining a shield in front of him. If
successful, a glowing shield will appear in front of the caster. Note: The
shield does not have to stay in front of the caster, it can as well be moved all
around him; however, it does not “bend”, but stays a straight flat circle. It
should as well be noted that the shield can not be moved more than one ped away
from the caster.
The following table gives an idea of the power of this shield according to level
of the mage:
Magical Formula.

Amn fa cár’áll,
translated "force of aura")

Range. Physical Shield
is cast on the caster himself, however, the shield created is one ped in
diameter at the initiate level, increasing with half a ped per level above the
initiate.

Casting Time.
About 10 seconds.
![]()
Duration. The shield
can last as long as the caster has the energy necessary to keep the
Soór aspect dominant; however, the
Ximaxian mages say about 10 minutes at the
initiate level, adding five minutes per level above the initiate. If the shield
is set on “standby”, the duration of the spell is doubled.

Counter Measures/Enhancing Measures.
To counter Physical Shield, one can either dispel it, or use a
magical attack, because this shield does not deflect
such attacks.
To enhance this spell, one can use spells that restore the
magical energy of the caster, thus granting the spell
a longer duration.
