XEUÁ SPELLS: DOMINATE (LEVEL IX)

SPELL EFFECT - CASTING PROCEDURE - FORMULA - TARGET - REAGENTS
MAGICAL SCHOOL - SPELL CLASS - RANGE - CASTING TIME - DURATION

Spell Effect. Dominate does as the name implies: it dominates the mind of another being, making the victim completely under the caster's control. The victim feels an overwhelming compulsion to do as the caster says once the spell is cast. As such, this spell is one of the favorites of those capable of casting it, despite the strain it takes and the risks involved. Return to the top

Casting Procedure. The caster should stare into the target's eyes, and speak the magical formula repeatedly. The wills of the two will lock, and the link will not tolerate both. The victor will have be able to order the loser and always be obeyed. Return to the top

Magical Formula.
Al Phóil Chón (Styrásh "Al Phóil Chón"), literally meaning "eye make own". Return to the top

Target. Any intelligent being. Animals cannot be dominated.  Return to the top

Reagents. None standard; some wizards claim inhaling wizardleaf smoke makes the contest easier, but just as many of these have been observed acting contrary to normal. Return to the top

Magical School. Xeuá Magic. Return to the top

Spell Class. Mentalism. Return to the top

Range. Range of vision. Return to the top

Casting Time. As long as it takes for the wills to finish their battle. Anywhere from thirty seconds to five minutes has been observed. Return to the top

Duration. This spell can last until death, but continued resistance can wear the spell's power down. Some enterprising victims have been known to try to deafen themselves, so they cannot receive commands. Return to the top

Counter Measures/Enhancing Measures. The effects of Dominate are endable by any practiced Ecuá mage; however, relatively few of these would help without some form of persuasion, and in their state, gathering the same is fairly difficult. Return to the top
