Listed below you can find all important
release features and a fixed bug report of the new Santharia GDT version 1.3,
released on November 2nd 2002, coded by Artimidor. In case you have already
installed version 1.0.3 you only need to read through this page to keep yourself
informed about the changes.
NEW FEATURES OF V 1.0.3
General: Picture size was changed to standardized format. Male and female player pics were substituted with unique Santharian pics, both done by Quellion.
General: Automatic database upgrade was implemented in order to prepare old databases to work with the newer program.
General: Added possibility to switch between user database and the master database (read only) to view and play all NPCs, which have already been done so far by Santharian members.
General: Deactivation of all editing functions at master database for non-admins.
General: Prohibit users to edit/delete records generated by other members. This is necessary in order to ensure proper import/export. Users can only add/edit/delete own records. This affects all tables and forms.
General: Both databases, the user database and the master database, were encrypted and password protected in the new setup, in order to prevent manual changing of data, which would undermine the import scheme.
General: In order to allow fast input (RETURN = Apply) in the larger textboxes, the RETURN handling was changed: Moving to the next line now can be achieved through SHIFT+RETURN, RETURN presses the Apply button. Needs a bit of attention at the beginning but allows faster input.
NPCs Form: Added refresh possibility in order to fill the comboboxes with new data, in case e.g. new occupations etc. were added during the adding of a new NPC. The Refresh button (or F9 shortcut) now refreshes all comboboxes. You can refresh a single combobox by pressing F12, e.g. to make an entry appear, which you've just added in another form.
Dialogue-Editor Form: Randomize function: The program selects randomly from different possibilities within the text, marked with [ and ], in order to display text.
Dialogue-Editor Form: Changed the keyword textbox to a combobox in the Editor Form, so that you don't have to type standard keywords in, but can simply select them from the list.
Dialogue-Editor Form: Added Locations combo-box at the treeview to make selection similar to the Dialogue Test form and to keep NPC count in the combo-box low.
Dialogue-Test Form: Integration of dialogue log feature. Complete dialogue (character response and player questions) is now logged in seperate textbox so that it can be cut and pasted directly and read in one piece. Feature implemented in preparation for proper display of dialogues on the site.
Dialogue-Test Form: The program now remembers the state of dialogue where the player left off and displays unasked questions when the player meets the character again.
Dialogue-Test Form: Integration of better program error messages, which are easier to understand for the user, including more detailed instructions on what to change where.
Dialogue-Test Form: Integration of topic list. Keywords where the checkbox "Add keyword to permanent keyword list" is marked and a display value is given, are added to a list of topics which is saved for each NPC. These topics can be brought up in the dialogue immediately. This addition also makes a "restart" of the same keywords redundant in case the NPC is already known to the player.
Dialogue-Test Form: Integration of possibility to enter userdefined keyword-question in a seperate textbox. This way questions/answers can be retrieved from the NPC, which were not mentioned before in the dialogue at all.
Dialogue-Test Form: Display Dialogue creator (also at the NPCs form).
Dialogue-Test Form: The program determines now on its own by checking the system time on the computer what daytime it is and pre-selects the proper daytime, so that greetings and byes will fit to the current daytime: 4-10 o'clock = Morning, 10-17 o'clock =Day, 17- 22 o'clock = Evening, 22-4 o'clock = Night.
Dialogue-Test Form: Show Debug checkbox value in Usersettings, so that it can be restored upon startup.
Dialogue-Test Form: The Dialogue Test form now displays only those locations and NPCs for selection, which/who have already elaborated dialogues (where there exists at least the START keyword), so that everything is more clearly arranged.
Dialogue-Test Form: Added proper arrows (pointing up and down) in order to scroll up and down at the Dialogue questions/responses list.
Import Form: Complete import functionality in order to prepare a master database by adding all exported data.

FIXED BUGS OF V 1.0.3
Dialogue-Editor Form: When pressing Add New in order to add a new keyword in the Dialogue-Editor form the responses table was not cleared.
Dialogue Editor Form: ESCAPE key was not always working as it was supposed to.
Dialogue Editor Form: Problem when deleting last valid question/response could cause the treeview not to display the keyword, and would not allow to add the keyword again, though.
Dialogue-Test Form: Save button in Dialogue Test form (when changing the dialogue text directly in this form) didn't work. The program showed no error message but also didn't save. A pretty malicious problem, indeed.
NPCs Form: Picture was not cleared when adding a new character.
