Site Update of December 18th 2005 by Artimidor

Pictures included in this update

Update Statement. Following a membership inauguration we had last week, we get back again to regular updates, and are especially happy to announce further progress with our tribes drawing project. Two new tribe illustrations could be finished recently, Faugar's Kavogerim Dwarf and Quellion's Centoraurian Cavalryman. Additionally Bard Judith brought the Fird'Gormz Kuglimz standard on screen, so that our plethora of tribes gets elaborated bit by bit. Further illustrations in this regard are already under way. Aside from the mentioned pictures several more images were added, be it the Kuk'arg (Red Salmon) by Judy, a forest illustration for the Frethoni Book of Fables or an interpretation of the Watchers Phantasm (both Ingeborg) - and even a fabulous new phoenix version was added by Quellion at the Element of Fire entry. Another round of Santhmoot pictures also made it into this update, plus various overviews like the one on the Human Tribes of Southern Sarvonia show us that we're making good progress on our tribes project.

Next update - as usual at this time of the year - we plan a special update when we look back at the past year 2005. We'll put together the best entries we have produced this year, plus some site statistics giving you an idea how the site has progressed compared to last year. For the next update after the New Years Edition we hope to finally be able to conclude entries like the Druidic Orders, get the dwarven Trothspoons and a farmer of Roulk up, another fire spell - and we hope that a first small interactive Flash map of a Manthrian location can be completed as well until then, providing the foundation for further similar maps. Until then we wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Santharian News of December 11th 2005

Grunok the Exile

Special Announcement. This week your webmaster is exceptionally happy to welcome another Santharian apprentice finally officially as a member to the Dream. As a matter of fact I also happened to be the mentor of our lovely and creative orc Grunok the Exile (a 'he' played by a 'she' by the way) on his/her way to conquer the Development Board, and indeed I can only report the best! Grunok (real life name being Josephine Ogle, at home in Auckland, New Zealand) is not only our first Kiwi and developer orc, she also managed to convince the Santharian Dream team like no other with her detailed and exceptionally well researched entries that her outstanding talents are very much needed in Santharia. After having delivered several Places entries in the Manthrian region plus entries on the Xazuran Mineral and the Greyler Hermits - entries which are all related to each other and fill important development gaps -, Grunok finally completed her masterpiece: the entry on the Village of Courtford. Like all other entries she did this one also doesn't leave anything to be desired and can serve as a great example on how to approach a Places entry.

To sum it up:
We are pleased to have you with us, Grunok, as part of the team and hope for many more entries to come in the future! As usual all Santharians are cordially invited to join the Inauguration Party at the Santharian Development Board and welcome our new member. - Artimidor, Mentor & Webmaster

Site Update of December 4th 2005 by Artimidor

Pictures included in this update

Update Statement. This week's update was overshadowed by the necessity to move the whole site to a new host as soon as possible. As our previous host was incapable of fixing repeatedly appearing problems and didn't even bother to discuss the issues seriously, we had to take immediate action in order to prevent further damage to the site. Fortunately the transfer could be accomplished quickly and worked pretty much without any major flaws, so that we now already can continue with an update on the new server. Due to the special circumstances this week's update is a bit smaller than usually, but at any rate we have some interesting things for you to offer. I'm especially happy that we can put up two pictures of a new artist, Losmios (Mia Bengtsson, click here to visit her homepage): She contributes illustrations of the Avéquis Lighthorse and the Maerquis Darkhorse - hopefully more are to come soon, she has more fantastic stuff to offer. We also have two first development entries, the one being the Drakona written by Grevarious Rendragon, and the second one was done by one of our RPG Admins and magic experts, Mina Aylwin's - the Conjure Wind spell. To both of you: Welcome officially to the development side of the Dream! Additionally the classic Fireball eventually made it to the site, illustrated by Quellion.

To be expected in one of the next updates are for example Faugar's illustration of a Kavorgerim dwarf, a picture done by Judy of the kuk'arg salmon which will go with an entry of Vuk'lor, furthermore Eratin has started on a light elf illustration, though this one might still last a while to get completed. Grunok's Courtford entry however is nearly finished by now, Selonius is working on a revision of the caranivorous Bethelatron plant - and more thumbnailed map and tribes overviews will be added soon as well for your convenience. - See you next update then!

Important Announcement of December 1st 2005

Webmaster being busy...

Due to major problems with our previous site host (e-mails not working, site slowness, no support) we were forced to move the Santharian Dream site to a new host as quickly as possible. The Santharian Dream site transfer is currently in progress. During the transfer of the data you will experience that various pages and pictures won't load, which are circumstances we are aware of. Please bear with us for the next day or two to get things back working as they used to be (or even better than that). At least we have to upload nearly 1 GB of data which has accumulated in the passed years and need to configure subdomains, databases, e-mail accounts, re-install the polls, the search engine, set up scripts, try to move the old guestbook to the new server without losing any functionality, and, and, and... I'm sure there will be more problems appearing as we go along in getting everything back to normal. - With other words: It can take a while, so many thanks for your patience! Feel free to use the Forums, though. While a picture here and there won't work, you can still communicate with other Santharians and role play on the boards as you are used to.

Site Update of November 20th 2005 by Artimidor

Pictures included in this update

Update Statement. This week we are happy not only to be able to put up various long-awaited key entries, but also to finally approach the issue of generating a bunch of illustrated overviews in order to make site navigation a bit easier. To the mentioned key entries I'd like to count Dalá's work on the Móh'rhím ("Shadow Elves"), or the entry on the Manthrian Port Ciosa (Artimidor), but also Talia's "Journeyon - A Shendar Death Rite", an exceptionally recommendable piece of literature, giving deep insights in the Shendar way of life - and death. As for the overviews: We now have added tribe representative pictures (including coat of arms whenever possible) to the tribe overviews, which already existed on the site (e.g. the Human Tribes of Southern Sarvonia). Furthermore thumbnailed regional maps overviews will eventually replace the current maps overviews, a first start was made with the Maps of Northern Sarvonia page. Also not forgotten should be the excellent entry on the Hamlet of Roulk by Vesk Lyricahl, Vuk'lor's first contribution, the Arvins Cedar - and don't miss the seventh installment of the Santhmoot Photos featuring the arrivals of Dalá, Artemis and Faugar!

Coming within the next weeks: Grunok has already submitted her entry on the Village of Courtford as masterwork in order to finally achieve official Santharian membership status. And judging from the previous works she made I guess we can very soon welcome our first Santharian developer from New Zealand! Also planned for next update are the integration of two drawings to go with the Avéquis Lighthorse and the Maerquis Darkhorse entry, both pets of Aeoliran Gods. Another entry for such a pet is in the works done by Grevarius Rendragon: the Drakona. More Bestiary stuff waits as well, the Druidic Orders rework should eventually go up, and, and, and... - Well, suggest to check out the next update yourself to see what we've forgotten to tell you in advance!

Herbarium Added entry on the Arvins Cedar, a scaly leafed evergreen tree (Vuk'lor)
People Updated entry on the Greylers, adding another illustration (pic Bard Judith)
Places Added page Maps of Northern Sarvonia, a new first maps overview page with thumbnails and short descriptions of the various maps included. So far this first overview page contains 3 maps of Northern Sarvonia, more to come (Artimidor)
Updated entry on the Deepgorge Mine, adding Myth/Lore details
(Norkin & Artimidor)
Added entry on the Manthrian Port Ciosa, one of Santharia's most ancient harbour towns, founded by the Glandorian Troi Ciosa
(Artimidor, pics Faugar & Bard Judith)
Added entry on the Hamlet of Roulk, a desolate, some say even cursed Manthrian village on the Elverground Road (Vesk Lyricahl)

Updated entry on the Shendar People, expanding on the Religions and Holidays, Festivals and Observances sections

Updated Overview on Elven Tribes of Southern Sarvonia, adding tribe illustrations (Artimidor)
Updated Overview on Human Tribes of Northern Sarvonia, adding tribe illustrations (Artimidor)
Updated Overview on Human Tribes of Southern Sarvonia, adding tribe illustrations (Artimidor)
 Treasures &
 Oddities
Added Santhmoot Photos VII: Further Arrivals, the next picture set currently available of the Santharian gathering held in July, featuring 24 photos of the arrivals of members like Artemis, Faugar and Dalá'Valannía in Landshut. A Santhmoot Week II Overview page was also added, which will harbour quicklinks to coming photo sets of the second week (composition and comments Artimidor, photos various team members)
Added one more receipt to Dame Sausade's Cookery Book, the "Crispies" and "Timbers" to the Entremets and Appetizers chapter (receipt by Norkin)
Website Site problems with browsers, where Japanese and similar fonts are installed, have been fixed. A major menu display issue on Opera browsers has been addressed as well and the scroll-speed of the menu swapping script has been adjusted, so that it doesn't depend anymore on the computer's speed, but always scrolls softly. The last adjustment currently only works at Internet Explorer compatible browsers (Artimidor)

Pictures included in this update

Update Statement. This week we finally can present you the re-designed Races Menu, including expandable races categories, continental sub-categories and an easily accessible races overview, which we lacked so far. A bunch of overviews still needs to be added, however, the main work is done and we hope that you'll find what you're looking for now much easier. Furthermore we are happy to welcome Arbaon (Bill Corbett) from the UK as an associated Santharian artist to the Dream - first works he made were already integrated in Judy's Dwarven Tools overview. Other highlights include a musical instrumental piece "Lansquenet's Lament" by Talia and Gean, an entry on the Amantry Industry by Alysse, something a bit more sensual from our Masterbard ("Singing the Senses"), also the legendary Fylja Furred Folk make their appearance and Grunok continues her Manthrian places description with the Broken Dream Gap. And for all those who were waiting for Rayne's conclusion of the "Lady of Chrynna Dabney" story - Chapter 11 leaves no questions unanswered!  - Oh, and the Santharian timeline discussion was recently revived and brought on the Forum screens during a real-life meeting between Talia and Artimidor, an important step towards development consistency.     Santharian News of October 9th 2005

Special Announcement. Following a more than two months long apprenticeship, the Santharian developers are proud to finally officially accept Vesk Lyricahl (Emory Hooks from South Carolina, USA) in the ranks of the Santharian team. In his time as Santharian apprentice guided by his mentor Bard Judith Vesk has proven his versatility by contributing a whole plethora of entries in various sections, be it Bestiary, Herbarium, People or Places. He also developed artifacts for the Miscellaneous section and helped others with commenting on their submissions. Vesk concluded his apprenticeship with a complete rework of the Trolls entry and has plans to continue with contributing details on the troll tribes mentioned in his main race entry. His honorary Forum plaque will from now on bear the title "Trollish Sentry", which Vesk proposed himself to reflect his interest in the trollish race.

We are very happy to have you with us, Vesk Lyricahl, as part of the team and hope for many more entries to come in the future! All Santharians are cordially invited to join the Inauguration Party at the Santharian Development Board and welcome our new member. - Bard Judith, Mentor & Artimidor, Webmaster
