Site Update of June 28th 2009 by Artimidor

Pictures included in this week's update

Update Statement. This week we offically add the masterwork entries of our new members, Seeker and Altario, or at least parts of it, as Altario's rework of the Remusian Men still has got various sections in store for the coming updates as well. Seeker's great picture of the City Hall of the White City of Elving can be viewed already in the respective entry. Coren makes an appearance after a bit of a break with entries on Krean Magic, specifically the Ardelor Hypothesis and the Olesian Obstruction, and begins a new Krean novel, titled "A Seagull's Cry" with the first chapter "Adumbration". Valan returned from a trip to the Santharian Manthrian province with a detailed entry on the Yanth River, adding one more to our already rich palette on entries for that region. Aside from that we've got some weapons for you, axes actually, namely the Half-Moon Axe (Grendal) and the Sengren, a typical Kyranian weapon (Deklitch). Grendal also helped to get the Weapons Overview in shape, which together with Half-Moon Axe entry is his very first contributions to the Dream. Same with Jenna Silverbirch, who researched baking some famous halfling All-Year Pie as her first entry for the site. This brings Grendal and Jenna into offical Apprentice status, congrats on that - let's hope more on weapons and halflings is to come soon!

Coming Up. Lots of stuff that could have made it in this week's update unfortunately didn't, so maybe next time. Among them Decipher's Tarshiinite Tale story, Rookie's Llaoihrr Harvest Festival, more on Ximaxian Magic, some details on troll weapons, the biography of the Santharian poet Monsonius or the Dulcimer string instrument. A bunch of pictures still wait to be finished as well, including a bird and a warg - and last not least a Rhom-Oc orc on the hunt.

Herbarium Added entry on the Savage Mushroom, a small, hardy fungus found only within the Mists of Osthemangar (Rookie Brownbark)
Library Added song "Rover Nancy" to our "Drinking Songs" collection, recounting about a member of teh Black Butterlfy Rovers, who used to know a lot of men... (Deklitch Hardin)
Added new book "A Seagull's Cry", a Krean novel, which we start off with the first chapter titled "Adumbration". First chapters of "A Seagull's Cry" were already on the site, but they are now being revised one after the other and are presented in the new Library format (Coren FrozenZephyr)
Magic Added entry of the Ardelor Hypothesis, a Krean magic concept which explains why Magic Persuasive cannot bring about something that one cannot attain through Magic Mechanical (Coren FrozenZephyr)
Added entry of the Olesian Obstruction, is the idea in the Krean magical arts that a "depiction" (a Krean magic spell of the Persuasive echelon) will increasingly approach, but never quite reach, a true portrayal of the desired possibility (Coren FrozenZephyr)
Updated entry of the Level 4 Bone Crafting spell, completely revising the entry (Drasil Razorfang)
Misc. Added entry on the All-Year Pie, a staple meal of any extensive hobbit family’s diet (Jenna Silverbirch)
Added entry on the Half-Moon Axe, a weapon of the dark dwarves with an unusual moon shape of its head part (Grendal Thornfist)
Added entry on the Sengren Axe, a double-bladed axe, pride of the former Kyranian kingdom (Deklitch Hardin)
Updated all Weapons Overviews on site, adding further weapons that were still missing, yet were mentioned in entries already or were part of the main Weapons page. The Weapons page as such was now changed entirely, containing only descriptions of the various weapon types, from which you can now branch off into the overview lists of the types themselves. At each type overview you now also have a link on top which allows you to return to the main Weapons page. Further pictures will be added to the main Weapons overview as soon as three item pictures in each category are available
(Grendal Thornfirst and Artimidor)
Places Added entry on the Yanth River, a dark, cold river in the Santharian province of Manthria known for its fish and its frigidity (Valan)
Updated entry on Elving ("The White City"), adding illustration of the City Hall, the impressive center of Quaelhoirhim cultural and city life. This picture represents Seeker's masterwork in order to achieve official Santharian membership (pic Seeker)
Races & Tribes Updated entry of the Remusian Men, completely revising the entry. Currently integrated are the sections Overview, Appearance, Coat of Arms, Territory, Environment (includes Flora and Fauna) and People (including the sub-sections Language, Art, Music and Literature, Games and Activities, Class Structure and Family). This revision marks Altario's masterwork and qualifies him as Santharian team member (Altario)

Our new members!

Time for fresh blood, guys! Two contributers have finally made it to the official members list: For one we've got that funny Canadian guy with the unpronounceable Santharian name Altario Shialt-eck-Gorrin, and we've got Seeker from the US (Bradly Van Camp, hope I got that name right this time...), who obviously found what he was seeking with Santharia! Anyway, while Altario has been making Dev and RPG boards unsafe since two years, Seeker is with us only since March, yet has delivered several fantastic illustrations so far. Seeker's masterwork, the City Hall of Elving, was just uploaded and can be enjoyed at the Elving entry, so make sure to check that great piece out! Altario's masterwork of gigantic dimensions, the complete overhaul of the Remusian tribe up there in Northern Sarvonia, will be added in parts, so for now only the first parts of the entry were replaced until the Territory section. Stay tuned for the whole thing to be uploaded within the next weeks.

As usual we invite you to a Forum feast celebrating the inauguration of our new members - everybody is welcome in this thread which will teleport you to Elving... Free virtual drinks and cookies are included! Join the fun, and don't get lost in the magical woods around the elven city. See you there!

Pictures included in this week's update

Update Statement. Highlights of this week's update include - among other things - the Mullog Origin Myth ("Kotaritenga") by Seth, which aside from containing a cool story was also illustrated with works by Bard Judith and Arbaon. Also a great unconventional addition is Seth's "Philosophie of the Molluske Race", while more conventinonal, yet no less important, are the additions to the Santharian Kingdom Timeline we made this update, dealing with the first century after Santhros. Another great illustration awaits at the Gouran entry, where Seeker shows us the legendary Bane of the North with a bunch of dark companions, among them a Rhom warg, which will get its own entry soon. Then we have Sivartius making his first contribution this week with the Geodes ("Eggs of the Earth") entry, and Deklitch made his first official appearance at the "Children's Games" page, which features verses and poems from more than half a dozen developers. So welcome on board to the new contributers - may we read more from you in the near future!

Coming Up. A famous Santharian poet is about to get a new face with a brand new illustration, and his entry will be updated as well in that process. Some weaponry is in the works for the warriors out there, some delicious hobbit pie for those who enjoy a good meal, and a string instrument will provide some relaxing entertainment. Pictures included in this week's update

Update Statement. With additions of illustrations in no less than five entries I guess we can safely say that we've got a Seeker special this week! So let's see where our new artist struck: For one we have the Black Unicorn, then the Swamp Stalker, the Venlaken Enclave where we reused a background, the Foresaken Blade got a picture and finally the Osther-Oc orcs... Not that bad for the first weeks on the site, eh? - A bit belated, but nevertheless we've added Judy's White Lady picture as well. Other cool stuff to check out includes the fascinating Gigglepebbles... er... stone... no, insect... beetle... let's say: thingy (Shabakuk), detailed insights in Caelerethian philosophy await, namely in the Nature of the Tiquaitan Thought (Decipher), the Erpheronian Queen Caralla makes an appearance (Trelstahl & Talia) - and the long expected, now considerably simplified entry on the Krean Arcane Arts has also finally made it on site (Coren). The update is rounded up by a creative Remusian counting rhyme and further Nybelmarian poems by Decipher, which were being added to the special page we've set up last week.

Coming Up. Doom is approaching in form of Gouran, also known as Aváth'cáo, wargs and orcs will accompany her, so watch out... A bunch of stories and reports are amassing in the Library, like a Conversion with a Dragon, a live field report from the Orcen Larder, or a tale from Nybelmar about Pride and Prejudice, coming in several installments. Started a new book called
"Caelerethian Philosophy", containing everything related to the schools of thought that exist or existed in the world. The book is started off with an essay by Decipher dealing with "The Nature of Tiquaitan Thought".
