Name: Haxevial Hax Murku
Gender: Male
Race: Volkek-Oshra Orc
Age: 29
Height:  2 peds, 2 palmspans
Weight: 1 pygge, 9 hebs, 5 muts
Occupation: Mage, Bar Fighter, Teacher, Researcher
Title: Master of the Blazing Fist

Appearance: Light brown skin covered in tattoos along the arms in the shape of black flames. A red silken robe with the sleeves removed because of his fighting style causes his clothes to burn if they come in contact with his hands. Sacks of sulfur line the leather belt along his waist, they tops flaps to allow Hax to dip his hands in easily to apply the sulfur. His feet are wrapped in strips of canvas that protect his feet from any sharp objects in the road.
His face is branded with runic shapes, his beard well trimmed and dyed a dark red. His head is completely bald, as is common with Volkek-Oshra Orcs. He takes after his father when it comes to facial features, sharp cheekbones with a thin well fomed nose, giving him a handsome face. His tusks poke out of his mouth, reaching up to be level with the bottom of his nose. On his chest is a tattoo of the elemental symbol for fire. During the colder days, Hax wears a thick woolen cloak covered in reeds, giving him the appearance of a large porcupine, his head covered by a wide brimmed hat that has a small section of cloth hanging from the underside that is tied around the head, but leaves the face uncovered. His feet are also sheathed in boots of thick leather with wool on the inside to keep them warm on the cold days. All of his gear is stored in a complex backpack covered in pockets, with a small wooden container attached to the top, the traveling home of Armeros, Haxs pet Ximax cat.

History: The son of a powerful Magus, Hax grew up with his whole life laid out for him. He would enter into the Magical Academy, become a mage, and continue his fathers research, the development of more efficient uses of the fire element. This overly planned out life chaffed at Hax, causing a rebellious streak to develop. He began to hang out with a group of academy students who would sneak out at nights and hit bars. The orc mage in training would sit down, start drinking, and not stop until he was either fighting or unconscious.
His life was forced out of this destructive streak one day, when he had gotten into a particularly violent and long battle. After picking a fight with a particularly haggard looking drunk, Hax found he had challenged an incredibly strong mercenary, whose filthy exterior was created by the battle the man had just been in. Fearing he was in a losing battle, the young orc attempted to cast Quilroshs Fireball at the mercenary. However, his alcohol pickled brain jumbled up the incantation and Hax roared out a strange mixture of the incantation to cast a fireball and to cast Searing. The spell seemed to fizzle, the orcs hands merely turning a bright shade of red.
Sneering, the drunk mercenary wound his fist back to land a fight finishing haymaker on the drunken orc in front of him. Hax lashed out in fear, his red fist luckily impacting the drunken mans chest. There was an explosion of fire and the Mercenary flew backwards, his chest aflame and his mind pushed into unconsciousness by the sudden flare of pain from the second degree burns.
Hax was amazed by this new found usage for fire magic, as a supplement to unarmed combat. He threw himself into his studies, graduating quickly and given the title of mage. Hax then began to research the usage of fire Car'all to increase the strength of physical attacks, his family allowing this as it would assist them in their own studies in developing more efficient ways to wield the Car'all. Slowly but surely, the young orc began to develop a form of hand to hand combat utilizing fire based Carall. His family was thrilled that the son that started out as rebellious youth had quickly matured into proper mage.
Then Hax dropped a bombshell. He wanted to leave Ximax, leave the Magical Academy that had been his home for twenty seven years to pursue a, as he called it, field study of his new fighting style. He explained that these spells would be useless unless they were tested in a real world environment. Additionally, the chaotic nature of the world outside of Ximax will foster more spells to be created. The Murku family agreed and set Hax up with a research grant to fund his travels. Hax packed up his research equipment and left the next day.

Personality: Loud and emotional when he is excited, cold and analytical when hes researching, Hax is a creature of contradictions. He is friendly and kind when it suits his purpose, or will be annoying and difficult if he thinks it will serve his purpose. Hax respects authority figures for the most part; however it is very easy to lose this respect if the person demands anything of Hax without giving a good reason why. Research is everything to Hax, if anything comes in the way of his research the orc will most likely begin to sulk like a spoiled child denied candy, or will actively try to remove the obstacle by any means necessary.

Strengths:
Creator of the Burning Fist- Because of his exclusive use of fire Carall to increase his fighting abilities, Hax has developed an incredible tolerance to being burned. Heat that would blister normal skin is just no hot enough any more.

Research grant- Hax is being paid to travel the length of Sarvonia to test out his newly created form of spell casting. Because of this he is never wanting for money.

Professionally taught- Hax grew up in the Magical Academy in Ximax. Because of this he was properly schooled and is incredibly intelligent. He can read and write and usually carries a few books with him at all times.

Weaknesses:
Alcoholic- While he has reduced his intake, Hax will never turn down an offered drink. And when he drinks, he drinks hard, slamming back five pints of ale before most people have finished their first.

Stubborn- Born out of his rebellious attitude when he was younger, Hax has trouble changing his mind once it has settled on something. This ranges from a refusal to retreat from a hopeless battle to his refusal to bow to a nobleman he does not respect.

Specialized combat- Hax is an expert at unarmed combat, to the exclusion of all other forms of fighting. His knowledge of using weapons is even less than normal mages. Even the throwing knives he employs in exclusion to his close combat abilities are nothing more then thrown sharp sticks, their flights lacking any pinpoint finesse.

Magic: Hax has been developing his own form of magical combat. By covering his hands in sulfur powder, Hax channels the energy of Carall into his fists, causing them to ignite in flame as they pass through the air. Additionally, he is able to concentrate the fire Carall into an exact point on the front of his fist, creating an explosive blast of heat and fire.

Rakun- The mantra used in conjunction with the heating of his hands to burning temperatures. This spell is meant to ignite Haxs fists to add a certain level of destructive potential, igniting and burning clothes and scorching flesh as they impact.

Fairrut- The first spell that Hax developed though he was drunk at the time. This mantra fills Haxs fists with explosive power, creating a concussive blast that amounts to a small fireball slamming into the body of the opposing fighter with the added force of Haxs fists.

Wulat- A very difficult spell to perform as it is used to burn, crack, or melt metal weapons when they are grasp by Hax. On the utterance of this mantra, the orcs hands will glow red hot and start to crack and melt the held weapon. This weapon is difficult in that the time require for the weapon to be fully destroyed. Hax will often heat up the weapon and then use his toughened up fists to break the weakened metal.

Futpa- A newly developed spell. Uttered at the intake and exhalation of a breath into a cloud of thrown sulfur, the Carall is released into the cloud. This mixture then creates a ten foot jet of flame. This spell is incredibly difficult in that it must be cast as the sulfur hangs in the air before it dissipates too quickly.

Equipment: A leather backpack containing several notebooks, writing utensils, and random books of varying lengths. There are also several sacks of sulfur to supplement Haxs spellcasting and a spellbook to add spells as he creates them. Several packs of dried meat, a waterskin, and three glass bottles of hard liquor supplement the orc mages traveling diet. Finally, Hax has three separate money bags filled with gold, one on his belt, the second hidden in his pack and the last built to look like a collar that is attached around Armeross neck.

Weapon: Under the robe that Hax normally wears is a skin tight vest covered in sheaths that are filled with throwing knives, twelve in total. These weapons are used to supplement his combat abilities with distance weapons.

Familiar: Armeros- Haxs pet Ximax cat. Raise from a kitten by Hax himself, Armeros was part of a litter of kittens birthed from one Haxs mothers cats, one of her hobbies being the breeding of Ximax cats. Named after one of the gods of fire, Armeros is Haxs constant companion and research assistant. More often than not Hax will turn to his cat and ask the animals opinion on the current situation.
Armeros is gold in color, with stripes of red slashing their way vertically across his coat. The tips of his ears and tail are black in color and he has one white paw. His violet eyes sparkle with intelligence and he is a master of telepathy, keeping a constant connection with his master.

Strengths:
Creator of the Burning Fist- Because of his exclusive use of fire Carall to increase his fighting abilities, Hax has developed an incredible tolerance to being burned. Heat that would blister normal skin is just no hot enough any more. In reality, if a practitioner would use this type of magic (Not saying it is possible.). Their own car'all would become more aligned towards fire ounia, hence making them more combustible not less.

Research grant- Hax is being paid to travel the length of Sarvonia to test out his newly created form of spell casting. Because of this he is never wanting for money. A new usage of fire magic would be completely tested before the school would send their students into the world to "use" it on others.

His knowledge of using weapons is even less than normal mages.<-- There is no standard for mages and weapons. Even the throwing knives he employs in exclusion to his close combat abilities are nothing more then thrown sharp sticks, their flights lacking any pinpoint finesse. If he can use these knives to any effect they must be listed as a strength. Overall this entire weakness is really not a weakness. A character is measured against an average peasant and since a peasant knows how to use no weapons, this does not count.

Magic: Hax has been developing his own form of magical combat. By covering his hands in sulfur powder, Hax channels the energy of Carall into his fists, He would not channel the fire ounia within the car'all to his fist, there is already existing ounia there and would simply need to strengthen the property of "heat." causing them to ignite in flame as they pass through the air. Additionally, he is able to concentrate the fire Carall into an exact point on the front of his fist, creating an explosive blast of heat and fire. Explosive is a bit inaccurate .... fire contains heat and light not concussive force. A fireball when thrown explodes simply because the high concentration of fire disperses on contact, not because it is truly "explosive."

Rakun- The mantra used in conjunction with the heating of his hands to burning temperatures. This spell is meant to ignite Haxs fists to add a certain level of destructive potential, igniting and burning clothes and scorching flesh as they impact. Since your character is no more than 3rd level, unless you have Admin. approval. This chaotic energy gathered about his fist would be like a fireballl. Indeed this would be even more difficult than the Quilrosh incantation as these chaotic energies are directly about a physical body part. If you read, Quilrosh requires all the attention of the caster, even the slightest distraction can prove fatal. Yet you wish to do hand to hand combat while keeping this up?

Fairrut- The first spell that Hax developed though he was drunk at the time. This mantra fills Haxs fists with explosive power, creating a concussive blast that amounts to a small fireball slamming into the body of the opposing fighter with the added force of Haxs fists. See above comments. Not that I think this type of magic is completely impossible, I only think it is far beyond this characters ability. I recommend taking these ideas to the development board and fine tuning them a bit. Though I do not see the feasibility of any of it. Who would go into close combat to strike someone with a fireball when it could be done from a distance? This is a step backwards from magic in truth.

A mage of any level could melt most any metallic weapon and the majority of any others (Time would be variable on the strength of the mage.). Having to pick the item up to do so would be another step backwards and more dangerous.

Futpa- A newly developed spell. Uttered at the intake and exhalation of a breath into a cloud of thrown sulfur, the Carall is released Releasing the Car'all? Car'all is part of all things and is already where you state you are "releasing" it, this makes no sense. into the cloud. This mixture then creates a ten foot<-- This is a Tharian measure and should actually be done in a Santharian measure. jet of flame. This spell is incredibly difficult in that it must be cast as the sulfur hangs in the air before it dissipates too quickly.

In truth this form of magic would take far longer to learn and would have no benefits. Most anything you mention above could be accomplished by higher level mages and exceeded with lower level magics by apprentices. The added combat training to even make this practical would stunt the mages magical learning so much it would take a lifetime to truly make it of any value.

I hope my comments aid you in being titled soon. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them here as there are many willing to help you. I changed the icon to the pencil while you make edits, please return it to the exclamation mark when you are finished and ready for more comments.

They are very similar Mira, but the mention of those skills in the CD imply that there are actual flames. Even with that said the effects he is seeking are far beyond the 3rd level of ability. In the entry for Searing it clearly states that 4th level is when the mage could boil water or use the hands for healing. Definitely not using them as fists of fiery destruction.

I'm working on making him a more rules appropriate character right now.

I mainly wrote Hax this way to make him a non-typical mage.

There are many ways to make a non-typical mage Hax, much of what you have written is not impossible. But my comments are more focused towards the characters level and why. Santharian magic can be complex if not downright daunting for most. If you have any questions, then please ask them here. More than a few magical experts wander through  from time to time.
