Title: The Regal Rusik (2)
Post by: Khiera Meneris on November 30, 2003, 08:31:22 AM
You approach a two storey high large building made of grey stone, the size of its establishment seemingly odd and out of place in such a small village as Eresh. It was unmistakable where the main entrance was, what with a luxuriant looking purple banner with gold-trimmed edges draped over the sturdy wooden door way. The banner reads, in stylized gold letters: “The Regal Rusik Tavern and Lodge”.

The heavy door creaks and groans in protest as you push it open and step into The Regal Rusik. The common area is spacious with a circular arrangement of a good number of tables and chairs, patrons of all sorts and sizes sitting at their tables. Most of them were clearly not from the immediate locality. The tavern maids were all young and lithe, pleasing to the eye and polite to the patrons, ferrying orders to and fro the kitchen in a very efficient manner.

At the corner of the common area immediately to your left, you notice a counter that designates the bar area. Next to the bar area is a flight of stairs leading up to the second floor. A middle-aged portly-looking woman with a short crop of dark brown curls stands behind the counter, furiously scribbling away on a pad on the counter top. Standing there besides her you notice a young boy, probably not more than 13, sorting out various bottles and jugs under the counter.

She had taken a long walk that night, clearing her thoughts. It was a good feeling, a feeling of freedom and it felt good. As her legs began to grow weary, she took a seat outside the tavern, wrapping her cloak tightly about her form and allowed herself the rest that her body craved. Her mind wandered to the past, making her relive the moment her parents were known to have disappeared. Once again she could not tear herself from the dream, makin her panic. Tears staining her cheeks as she fought to regain consciousness but failed.

As the first rays of the sun rose to touch the cool earth, she opened her eyes, stirring from her position, to her feet. Walking to where she could see the sun clearly, she began to sing her morning vespers. Slowly and quietly, allowing her voice to gradually fill the town in her beckoning of the sun. It was a soft voice, gentle and soothing. One that filled a soul with cheer for the oncoming day.

Touch the mountains
Tentative light
Blend the clouds with gold
And gently disturb the dreams of night

Welcome daybreak
Fill the silence with
Songs of the birds
LIft the sky-lantern to the sound of
Music the swells without singers or words

Welcome morning
Fire of dawn, light of the day
Warming the world with your glow
Awaken again we, your children
Who, chanting we aubade, know
That we have welcomed the sunrise.

Once she had finished, she made her way back to the tavern and waited for Roland.

((OOC: To not drag this out to much, I shall post multiple questions at once and I shall say what Roland’s actions are between these. Roland has a lot of Questions and I do not wish to bore anyone, so that is why I do this. If it’s not ok with you just say so. Depending on what you say Roland is probably going to ask a lot of questions.))

The Day before had been a grueling one indeed and the night provided Roland with his much needed sleep. Roland rose from his bed and gave a nice sized stretch to bring a final end to the rest he had just finished. It was a nice deep slumber, like one he had not had in quite a while. In a calm manner Roland gathered his stuff and began getting ready for the day ahead, when Roland managed to look at the window in his room. There was far to much light, he had woken up much latter than he had intended, he never slept that late. Walking to the window to confirm his fear, Roland looked out towards the sky. The sun had already rose and Roland was now late, he had planed earlier to get there before her, but now he was sure that he wouldn’t be doing that.

Roland finished preparing for the day and left his room and departed the Tavern, paying everything else in the Tavern no head what so ever. Once outside Roland looked around watching for Kalina, spotting her outside just as they had agreed Roland walked slowly over to her and leaned up against the Tavern’s out side wall. Roland didn’t say anything for a little, giving her the chance to formulate any thoughts that she had. Roland leaned against the tavern wall, with his arms crossed, one leg hiked up against the wall and the other strait to the ground. Roland tried to give off an appearance of being calm and just enjoying the morning, but in reality he was getting everything in line, figuring out what to say and what not to.

Roland’s hood was currently down and he reached up and brushed his hair back with his hand, just a nervous twitch of Roland’s, some thing he did when he was thinking, worried or just nervous. “I hope my tardiness has not unconvinced you at all, I am not used to such peaceful and comfortable sleeping accommodations.” Roland looked over at her to catch her reaction to his remark. “And I hope your night was as good and restful as mine.” Roland waited for her response before speaking further. “So if the offer is still valid, what is this information you have offered me.” Roland paused for a couple of seconds then spoke up once again, “Any information you could give me would be a tremendous help.” Roland had a lot of questions he had to ask, many of which he might not ask, but it would depend on the answers he received. Roland stared in to Kalina’s eyes like a young child desiring to learn and wishing to know it all.

((OOC: My dear Roland. I adore long posts. Make them as long as you please. The longer the better I always say. Details are so much funner to read!!!))

Kalina watched with extreme amusement as Roland rushed out the door to find her waiting for him. A smile touched the corner's of her lips as she watched him shakily brush his hair from his face.

“I hope my tardiness has not unconvinced you at all, I am not used to such peaceful and comfortable sleeping accommodations.”
“And I hope your night was as good and restful as mine.”

This made her smile even more so as she watched him, studied him carefully.
"Tardy? Not at all. I do not believe that many of the others have gotten as far as to open their eyes."She chuckled. "I was just up to sing and my night was indeed restful."

“So if the offer is still valid, what is this information you have offered me.”
“Any information you could give me would be a tremendous help.”

Kalina nodded, "The offer is still valid...but..."
She cut off in mid sentence eyeing Roland...his next statement bothered her somewhat. Ignore it. Just tell him so you can get it done and over with.

"I hope you do not mind me asking a few questions of my own," her smile soon disappated. "You see, I do not just give out information like there is no tomorrow."

She wasn't going to give him something he seemed to want so badly just for him to misuse it. Not that she wanted anything in return but something told her...something told her she should do it this way.

"Let us walk as we converse. That should help you in keeping the information straight."

"Tardy? Not at all. I do not believe that many of the others have gotten as far as to open their eyes." "I was just up to sing and my night was indeed restful."

This made Roland feel slightly better, he never cared for being late and when it was because of him over sleeping, well that was just shameful for Roland. He’d wished he had heard her singing though. His over sleeping was surely to blame for that. If he had only of awoken at his normal time, before sunrise, then he surely would not have missed such a blessing as that must have been, but he did miss it and for that he kicked him self mentally, a nice hard kick. It pleased Roland to know that she had a restful night also, thought he told him self he didn’t care, “only being nice for appearances, that’s it.” Roland told him self trying to bring him self back to his comfort zone, terrified that he would be confronted with a hard choice down the line of money or person. Roland’s greatest fear, the choice of friendship or riches both of which he craves, both of which he needs and both of which are a must for ultimate goal. Often times they countered each other. Roland did not get what small pile of riches he has now through caring, helping or anything of the such, but at the same time, he was only one man and couldn’t do it all by him self and no matter how many times he tried to convince him self other wise, he craved social interaction with others and it was a must for his sanity.

"The offer is still valid...but..." She stopped and looked at Roland, possibly something was bothering her. Roland was not sure what if anything at all, but it seemed to him that there was something bothering her.

"I hope you do not mind me asking a few questions of my own," "You see, I do not just give out information like there is no tomorrow."

“Damn. I knew this was to easy.” Roland let out a sight of disappointment. He had known that something was up and had wondered why she would give such information, and now he would figure it out, he was sure of it. Was she after something? Or did she just want to make sure his intentions where pure? Either way he was in trouble. Roland had simple enough goals, revenge, pure and simple, but if she was checking his intentions this would not look good for him. If she was to even know that he was after the reward mainly there might be problems. He would have to watch him self very carefully now and watch what he said, if he lied it must be believable, if she was to see through him he may be stuck with out any information. Roland desired highly to just tell the truth, to tell her that he wants the money for revenge that he wishes to use it to bring death to someone, this would make things very simple, but would he get anywhere from doing so, Roland thought not. To make matters worse, Roland was never a good actor or liar; he was good at sneaking, stealing and all things of such, but not lying. “Tread carefully Roland, very carefully.”

"Let us walk as we converse. That should help you in keeping the information straight." Roland smiled a fake smile and nodded at Kalina, then turned and started walking in compliance with her request. “I can understand your reluctance to give information so willingly, and I have nothing to hide there fore you can ask all of me you wish.” Roland said as he walked slowly, allowing Kalina to lead the way to where ever.

Thoughts, fears, questions and all kinds of other things run through Roland’s head as he awaits questions from Kalina. He had so many questions to ask, some about the princess and others to satisfy his curiosity about her, but he would wait, she wished to ask questions of him first, so be it.

((OOC: Me tired of colors for the moment. Going back to just plain neutral colors.))

“I can understand your reluctance to give information so willingly, and I have nothing to hide there fore you can ask all of me you wish.”

She nodded and continued to walk by his side, hood still covering from the night before. She was reluctant to remove it but found no harm in doing so. Cautiously she reached and pulled the hood back, allowing her hair to glisten in the new light of the day. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she enhaled deeply, the sweet scent of cool damp air of a fresh morning. It was something she loved and could never get enough of before the sun took it away in its heat.

She really didn't know more than anyone else about the princess, the reward or anthing of that sorts. Neither did she care that much. The answer that she would receive from Roland would be what she expected from the start but to ask him face to face and receive an answer from his mouth was the best way to get things moving. "I would like to know why you are on this 'quest'? If you tell me it is for the money, I do not care for that is why most are doing it, because they will get paid."

She would, most likely, not like his answer but it was to be expected. Fortune, glory, and revenge hunters alike were searching for hte missing princess.

As Roland walks with Kalina, she removes her hood once again revealing her full beauty for the world and Roland alike to see. Roland tried not to look at her, he had no idea what kind of questions would be asked of him and what kind of responses he would need to deliver in reply, and he did not want anything to influence his answers. As it was Roland had a weakness for women but now he required information.

"I would like to know why you are on this 'quest'? If you tell me it is for the money, I do not care for that is why most are doing it, because they will get paid."

Why, the question Roland feared the most. Normally he would have no problem giving out such information; he was not shy about his dealings in the slightest. Roland feared loosing this chance at information. There is no real harm in not telling her everything, but he still desired to be free of this charade, he never was good at acting. In his old guild he would always anger his Guild leader, due to his results in disguise and acting. “I enjoy a good exercise of the mind, ones mind shall wither if not used. It is always a must to keep skills sharp along with the mind also.” Roland paused for a second and pondered if he really should say what he was about to say, “As for the reward, I do desire it. It is a strong factor in my coming here and why do I desire it so? I believe that is what you are seeking from me?” Roland let out a slight sigh the spoke, “Simply enough I desire revenge, more over justice, for what was done to my parents.” Roland looked strait ahead and his sight did not veer, “Other than that I do not wish to discuses further, if you well pardon my rudeness.” Roland said in a low bothered tone, his past obviously being a source of great pain for him.He wondered if he had made a mistake, if now he would not receive this information she had promised him, but it mattered not, he would find it else where if she didn’t help him.

“So,” Roland quickly changed the subject, “Is that you had wish to know? Does that leave me worthy of this information you carry in your head?” Roland continues walking on, his mouth almost watering in anticipation of receiving information that may lead to the Princess, more over the reward that follows.

((OOC: Totally re did my post, didn’t like It, it wasn’t like Roland the first time, that’s if anyone even saw it.))

“As for the reward, I do desire it. It is a strong factor in my coming here and why do I desire it so? I believe that is what you are seeking from me?”
“Simply enough I desire revenge, more over justice, for what was done to my parents.”
“Other than that I do not wish to discuses further, if you well pardon my rudeness.”
“So,”
“Is that you had wish to know? Does that leave me worthy of this information you carry in your head?”

Kalina bowed her head in response to his words. She was not bothered but his words as if she found his intentions unhonorable but she had, sadly, found a connection with the man. With her parents disappearance 33 years ago, her life had been out of her control it seemed. Her brother's disappearance this year continued the feeling but now, this time, she was old enough to actually do something about it.
"I have no response to your announcement, milord. Your search for wealth and revenge is not uncommon nor is it unhonorable for its intentions. Please, you are not being rude, you just do not wish to disclose personal things that I have no right to know."Her voice was soft and understand. A tone that told him that she knew his pain, she is suffering from it as well but there was nothing she could do about her past. No revenge she could take, nothing...

She sighed before taking a deep breath to continue, "The information you shall need for the search. Very little but I believe that what I have is vital. There is an old man. I do not know his name for he did not disclose it to me but he seemed to be of importance to the search for the elf Valannia and her guards were looking for him." She paused, trying to contain her thoughts and give him the best information she could. "I am going to search for the man, perhaps he will help you in what you need to know."

There was a long pause, Kalina dug deep for other things. She had been able to over hear a couple of the conversations, at least bits and pieces of them. All she had to do now was to fight to recall them. "I overheard the name Thaetum. I believe that he could be of help and I belive he lives in the Shivering Wood. Perhaps we can go searching for the old man there as well." Kalina began to tremble slightly and her mentioning of the woods. Though being a wood elf, the Shivering Wood was a place that she would not readily step foot in it. "Another couple is making their way to the woods. Also searching for the man. I do not know much about the others." She hoped what she had given him was good enough. It was meager but it would help him in his search.

Arggosh slowly walks along the road, many people in the past few hours have stared at him as he walks past but he is used to it.   Finally he reaches the Tavern he has heard about. Nodding to the people outside he slowly enters the doorway and walks inside. He notices the bar to one side and walks towards it. 'Nice enough looking place' he thinks, looking at the barmaid.   "Do you have anything for breakfast?

Kalina bowed her head as a reply to Roland’s words, leaving Roland to believe that she highly disagrees with his reason. Roland’s mind started to search for a way to fix this or another path for Roland to take.

"I have no response to your announcement, milord. Your search for wealth and revenge is not uncommon nor is it unhonorable for its intentions. Please, you are not being rude, you just do not wish to disclose personal things that I have no right to know." Roland looked to Kalina as she spoke. Not only had she caught Roland off guard and surprised him greatly but she seemed to understand, maybe a bit to well, as if she understood because she has felt the same pain. This made Roland extremely curious and anxious to dig further, already scenarios started running through his head where he was trying to figure out what, if anything, she has gone through, but feeling that this was something to be left to another time Roland decided he would leave it alone, for now.

"The information you shall need for the search. Very little but I believe that what I have is vital. There is an old man. I do not know his name for he did not disclose it to me but he seemed to be of importance to the search for the elf Valannia and her guards were looking for him."
“I am going to search for the man, perhaps he will help you in what you need to know."
"I overheard the name Thaetum. I believe that he could be of help and I belive he lives in the Shivering Wood. Perhaps we can go searching for the old man there as well."
"Another couple is making their way to the woods. Also searching for the man. I do not know much about the others."

“Wonderful an elf and her guards.” Roland thought to him self, but not only were there guards looking for this man but another group also looking for him. Who ever this man was he sure did seem to be a key man to look for. “Thaetum.” Roland told him self in an attempt to remember the name. As Kalina reviled this information she seemed to be searching for it and Roland wondered how much of it was just bits and pieces. She seemed to also be looking for this Thaetum, why was something that eluded Roland and before continuing on Roland had some questions that he felt he must ask.

Roland stopped walking and looked at Kalina, “Why?” Roland said with out finishes his statement completely then he sighed and spoke again, “Why are you helping me, you said you had no interest in my quest, leaving me to believe you do not desire wealth and even so I have offered none. And now you say you are looking for this Thaetum, why are you looking for him?” Roland stood looking at Kalina with an extremely confused face, as his thirst for knowledge ate at him from in side like a termite with in his wooden soul. Curiosity was always a weakness of Roland’s and if he didn’t stop it from eating away at him sooner or latter it would devour him completely.

Roland waited until she was able to answer his question before continuing on then he spoke up once again, “Ok Milady, now I think it’s obvious that this Thaetum is the key, at least for now. My question for you now is, how is it we are to find him. You said he lives in the woods, are we to go prancing around the woods until we stumble across his house or do you have a better Idea?” Roland paused for a second then spoke up once again, “If you don’t have any idea where to find him, we could always look for this Elf and her guards. Under employment of them we could surely find out more, surely they know plenty as it is.” Roland had a slight uneasiness in his voice as he spoke. Surely due to his past he was a wanted man in some places, but he had doubt that it would of traveled to here, even if it had he had doubt that any one would recognize him. Roland brushed his hair back then crossed his arms, “I have no ideas other than this, have you?”

Roland spoke in assumptions that Kalina would be along with him in his search, this was his way of offering for her to come along, and if not he figured he would be corrected.

@Arggosh:

((OOC: Try not to assume that there is a bar/tavern maid around whenever you need one ... it might not be so. But for today, there is.))

The tavern had just opened its doors on a new day not too long ago, and there was only a single tavern maid wiping the tables inside the common area. She was the first one to arrive, and she had a happy expression on her face, whistling a soft tune to herself. Being that it was market day today, the tavern had only a couple of patrons sitting by their lonesomes having an early drink.

As Arggosh walked in the tavern maid raised her head. A troll. They didn't usually get trolls as patrons, but trolls dropping by weren't odd either. Ever since the disappearance of the Princess, men of all manners from all corners of the land had flooded to Eresh. She was not alarmed nor surprised to see a troll, and most villagers wouldn't be either.

"Do you have anything for breakfast?"

With a pleasant smile on her face, the tavern maid replied, "Why of course, Milord, and good morn to you! Why don't you take a seat," she gestured towards one of the empty tables, "And let me take your order for the morning?"

'I've seen worse put together chiars and more solid looking ones. ((OOC: NP, no harm done.))

The tavern maid was surprised when Arggosh proceeded to sit on floor instead of in one of the chairs. She hasn't encountered that sort of behaviour before.  "M ... Milord? Why don't you make yourself comfortable in one of the chairs instead of the dusty tavern floor?" She smiled cheerfully, "The chairs here are sturdy enough, everything in the Rusik is of the best! But if you think the chair is going to be a little cramped for you Milord, perhaps you would like me to go fetch a wide bench for you from the kitchen?"

“Why?”
“Why are you helping me, you said you had no interest in my quest, leaving me to believe you do not desire wealth and even so I have offered none. And now you say you are looking for this Thaetum, why are you looking for him?”

Kalina forced a smile and turned to face him, "Your quest is for money and revenge. Mine is not. I have run into a seemingly dead end in my own personal search have need a change. I shall help you in anyway I can. It may not be much for I am not much of a fighter but I can use the sword." She patted her hilt on her hip. Her beloved Lírias, her mother's, given to her before her mother disappeared. "My abilities are used elsewhere and can be useful in extracting information."

She turned from him and continued walking only to stop once more as he spoke yet again. “Ok Milady, now I think it’s obvious that this Thaetum is the key, at least for now. My question for you now is, how is it we are to find him. You said he lives in the woods, are we to go prancing around the woods until we stumble across his house or do you have a better Idea?”

She pondered his proposition for a moment before turning to face him once more. "I suggest not looking for Thaetum, at least for now. Let us go in search of the elf Valannia and the guards. Perhaps we can sqeeze some information out of the group." She smiled mischieviously, but she still caught Roland's slight uneasiness and hesitation. "We shall be careful and plus,..." She cut off her sentence and turned away. He didn't need to know that yet. Mentally kicking herself for letting that slip. Not that it was a dark secret by many have heard her tell them of it and the questions have never ceased. I was a complicated ability and it couldn't be thrown around carelessly. Quegon opened his eyes and sat up, all the sudden he wished that he hadn't as the light shining through the only window in his room hurt his eyes. "ugh wonder what time it is" he said as he got off the bed and walked over to the window, though it he could see that the sun had only just come up, Time to get moving Quegon thought to himself as he put on his cloak.

Quegon left the room and walked downstairs and headed for the kitchen as he knew he wasn't going to get anything out of the owner, he thought he might try getting one last piece of information from the chef.

@Quegon:

The tavern looked sadly empty compared to the hustle and bustle of last night, as most of the villagers were out in the weekly market. There was only a lone tavern maid was talking to a patron (Arggosh) who had just arrived, and a couple of men sitting down at the tables having an early drink.

The old man -- who was the cook -- pushed open the kitchen door and emerged out of the kitchen just as Quegon was heading towards it. He had forgotten that he left a bottle of sauce under the counter.

Hunched as the old man was, he couldn't really see what was "above" him that clearly. All he knew that he had pushed opened the door and had bumped hard into something dark and kind of squishy. An "OOF!" escaped from his lips, and then he looked up and saw that it was Quegon.

"Oh! You! Again! Good! Morn!"

He muttered something under his breath, and then spoke again, "No! One! Stays! Around! There! Bad! Bad! Place! Only! That! Crazy! Man! Thaetum! And! That! Crazy! Woman! ..." he lowered his voice a little, while looking around to make sure that no one else was around the counter, "Kestrel."

He started waving his hands around, as if to emphasize the illogical craziness that he thought of of these two persons, "Crazy! Crazy! People! Crazy! Yes! Crazy!"

@Quegon:

The cook shook his finger at Quegon, "No! No! Not! Wise! To! Go! There! Woods!" He shook his head vigorously, "Don't! Know! Where! Thaetum! Lives! Don't! Know! Where! Kestrel! Lives!" He gestured towards the entrance of the tavern, "Kestrel! Nice! Herb! Lady! Then! Became! Crazy! Because! Of! Those! Evil! Woods! Evil! Evil! Woods!" He frowned, "Don't! Know! Where! Around! Woods! She! Is! Should! Not! Go! Should! Not! Go! Or! You! Go! Crazy! Too!"

With that, he made a quick swipe under the counter for the bottle of sauce he was looking for and then hobbled off into the kitchen again, a disgusted look on his face.

"Your quest is for money and revenge. Mine is not. I have run into a seemingly dead end in my own personal search have need a change. I shall help you in anyway I can. It may not be much for I am not much of a fighter but I can use the sword." Kalina said as she patted the sword on her side, "My abilities are used elsewhere and can be useful in extracting information." Not exactly what Roland would consider his perfect partner, he generally desired a more combat orientated person but she might would prove useful in other fashions, either way Roland had made up his mind long ago and there was no changing it.

"I suggest not looking for Thaetum, at least for now. Let us go in search of the elf Valannia and the guards. Perhaps we can sqeeze some information out of the group." "We shall be careful and plus,..." she cut her self short in her conversation, "Let us begin our search for the elf and the guards. They willl most likely be of the most use to us at the moment." Roland wondered what was going through her mind, wondered what she had stopped her self from saying, what part of her self she nearly revealed but stopped her self from doing so. Rather than dwelling on it Roland decided to let it go, he should pry on tings latter, now was not the time, now was the time to move forward and start in this search.

“Valannia it is.” Roland said once again brushing his short hair back in merely a method of directing his thoughts, as if he could touch his thoughts through his skull. This was the one that Roland favored but feared also. He surely had little to worry about but authority was not one of Roland’s favorite groups to mess with. Surely they would prove to be the most useful in this hunt, but why would they help. Roland slowly started devising plans as to how to gain the help of this elf and her guards, this would need to be carefully done or suspicions might be drawn forth by our desire to help. Roland paused for a second, and with a slight look of confusions spoke further, “Where do we go to find this Valannia?”

((OOC: Roland. First I must apologize for my lack of posting. Brain is elsewhere and what not...Hope this makes up for it))

“Valannia it is.”
“Where do we go to find this Valannia?”

She thought for a moment, recalling the best she could, the elf's entrance into the tavern. She had introduced herself as a knight for the Prince. Perhaps if we went to the main place where the soldiers were stationed we would have a bit of luck. "Let us head to the main station of troops. Perhaps we shall find something of use there..." She shrugged, not completely sure of what to do or where to look but at least it was a start. Now...how to get there...

She remembered from early yesterday that the barmaids had sent another to the main encampment, a mysterious looking man and one she did not like the looks of but no matter. Perhaps he has left by now and I shall not have to worry about him. She continued to talk to herself in her mind, pondering different points and planning how to go about things. Refocusing her random thoughts, she came across something that she believed would be useful, instructions on how to reach the main encampment. It was southwest of Eresh, a good walking distance that would take most of the day. "I feel like a run...how about you?" She chimed suddenly out of nowhere. Without waiting for an answer she took off and at brisk pace to the Southwest side of Eresh not even with a glance over her shoulder to see if Roland folled her. She knew he would have difficulty keeping up. Height and heriedity were with her, she was swift, her main physical attribute if not her only one. Keep up if you can... She taunted silently...knowing that he wouldn't be able to.

The tavern maid smiled as Arggosh eased himself into a chair. She took out her rough brown pad and quill, ready to take his order.

"Now I was wondering if you had a haunch of someting either left over from last night or cokkin' back there? 'cause this travelling has given me a mighty hunger."

The tavern maid tipped her head a little and chuckled, "Food at the Rusik is always cooked fresh with the best ingredients Milord! In fact, Lady Bretha just enlisted the legendary Eve Magoo, so i heard, to do cooking in the evenings! You'll want to try out her dishes in the evenings Milord, but for the morning, how about some nice warm steaming pheasant broth?"

@All:

As Kalina and Roland stood outside the tavern, exploring their options of where to head next, suddenly the harsh shouts of men and the hard trampling of hurried feet broke the quiet silence of the morning and the sounds of bustle in the market.

Six armed Kyranian guards made a beeline towards the market, each of them loudly cursing at someone, but the words were too faint and mumbled to be heard clearly from a distance. It was not too long before they disappeared into the crowds of the Western Fork, seemingly roughly pushing everyone in their way, as if they were in a hurry to get to somewhere, or someone.

The door swung open, banging into the opposite wall, and an auburn-haired elven woman stood framed in the doorway. Her cheeks flushed as she realized that she had made rather a lot of noise and would undoubtedly be attracting rather a lot of attention. She hurridly (sp?) pulled her hood over the distinctive silver streak in her hair and moved quickly along the wall, letting the door swing shut behind her. She swept up to the bar and tapped nervously on the polished surface as she looked around for the barkeep, or a waitress, or indeed anyone of authority who could give her a room, a place to hide. Loud mens' voices could be heard from outside, shouting to each other, and she kept looking back over her shoulder. Under her breath, she muttered to herself.

They wouldn't come in the tavern, they can't risk a guard being in here. They wouldn't, they couldn't. But the lure may be too great, the lure of the stone, the stone.

@Cacunai:

As the door slammed open, the few patrons in the tavern turned their head to see a slim hooded figure hurriedly walk in. Nevertheless, that didn't interest them for long and they turned back to their drinks and chatter once more.

Lady Bretha had just woken up not too long ago from her luxuriously furnished room on the second floor, not bothering to rise early for the morning because she knew that it was market day and was not expecting too many patrons. As she arrived at the counter to a slim hooded woman with a nervous look on her face, tapping away at the counter in a paranoid manner.

Lady Bretha smiled her toothy smile, always happy to see a customer -- and their coins -- in the tavern, "Well good morn Milady! Welcome to the Regal Rusik, the best --" she paused to chuckle, "-- and the only one around! Looking for a room, Milady?"

Outside the tavern, Cacunai's pursuers spotted her ducking into the tavern, and would have all but stormed in after her, if they had not seen six armed guards approaching with murderous looks on their face. They decided it was not their day, and headed the other way, muttering colourful courses at the fleet footed elf.

It would be greatly appreciated, goodwoman, it would.

At the woman's approach to the bar, Cacunai's tone changed dramatically from a soft, quick muttering to a throaty purr. She had found it rather useful in the past, especially in getting men to help her. She looked once more over her shoulder just in time to see her pursuers diverted from their chase. She visibly relazed and turned back to the woman (Lady Bretha), smiling prettily. It didn't matter if there weren't any men around to impress, it would be better if her manner remained constant. And then there was Daala to worry about... she mentally slapped herself back to reality. Daala will be fine, she told herself, Daala will not allow anyone to touch her but you, you know that. The other half of Cacunai's mind tugged feebly at a strand of her thought, stridently bawling its message, Your mare is not as safe here as in the mountains, Daala could be captured! Her mouth opened to retort back to the pessimist side of her mind before she remembered she was not on the open road as was her custom but here, in a tavern, in Elath knows what city, facing a woman who was probably wondering what in heaven's name this elf was playing at!

@Cacunai:

Lady Bretha snorted as Cacunai's tone turned from nervous-paranoia to husky purring. Them elves are silly, they think that kind of sniffy womanly behaviour works on everybody ... and they are not even ... woman. Well at least to Lady Bretha elves didn't fall into the category of being "woman" as a human woman did.

Still, flashing her toothy grin that was ever ready for a paying customer, Lady Bretha took up her quill and pad, "Oh, yer'll get the finest of rooms here in the Rusik, Milady! A room be 25 sans a night, paid in advance. How many nights should i put you down for, Milady?"

The tavern maid smiled back at Arggosh as he winked at her. She thought that Arggosh was certainly one of the more ... well-spoken trolls that have stopped by the tavern. And polite too.

"Well if'n she can rustle up a half decent evening meal i'll be sure to order. However evening meal or no its early and as you suggest some warm broth would be nice. Though i'd pay above the price for a cut or two of meat and some bread with it."

The tavern maid nodded with a smile, "Oh, from what i've heard from Lady Bretha, Eve Magoo is quite a chef, so if you're still around in the evening you should definitely try a dish or two of hers! And meat and bread you said? That's not a problem at all Milord, i shall go get your meal for you now." The tavern maid made another slight nod, and then turned and headed for the kitchen.

((OOC: You should make another post before the tavern maid returns with your meal ... be creative ;) )

Lady Bretha scribbled noisily on her pad. Then, turning behind her, she reached for a key, and turned back again to Cacunai, sliding the key across the counter. She turned to sweep a glance at the patrons currently in the tavern, "And while yer're here, Milady, may i suggest a nice warm meal for the morning?"

One small, delicate hand disappeared into the folds of her cloak and rummaged in one of the pockets, an occasional clink puntuating her movements. Lady Bretha swept the coins into her open palm on the other side of the counter, a little disappointed that Cacunai did not want to settle for a meal and bring even more coins into her palm. "Well Milady, yer have a nice stay at the Rusik, which i'm sure yer will." She chuckled, and headed towards the row of shelves behind the counter, arranging the flasks and bottles around. She wasn't going to ask why Cacunai was here, she figured that it was probably because of the rewards.

A Kyranian guard on horseback trotted from the village outskirts and arrived outside the Regal Rusik tavern. He placed a hand over his eyes, as if scouting out for something or somebody. She ran as fast as she could through the masses of bodies that now crowded the streets, fighting her way to the outskirts of the city. Her hood flew revealing her golden tresses and sending them in all directions. She smiled as the wind tickled her skin as she ran. It felt good to run, it lifted the burden on her heart and soul, making it feel as though it would take off at anytime and soar for days on end. She never glanced back to see if Roland ws following her, she figured that if he wanted her aid he would follow, truely up to him.

Her possessions became lighter the longer she ran, along her feet a swiftness that she had not felt in years. Hurrying as fast as she could, she reached the outskirts after a good fight. Now what? Her mind raced as to what to do next but nothing came. Perhaps I shall meet up with someone and we could travel together.

Was he coming to like civilisation more than the open road? 'Must be the sweet smell of the town, or the smell of something else in the streets.' After waiting for a short while, one of the tavern maids, seeing that Lady Bretha had not appeared to tend to Cacunai, started moving towards the counter, when suddenly, a loud clattering sound came from the kitchen from the slightly ajared door that was behind the counter.

Arggosh reached into his money pouch as the plate was placed on the table. He opened it and counted out the money whilst keeping the contents out of site but the bag in view enough to be seen as near full.  He gave 22 sans to the girl, after all she had been nice to him. "There you go lass, What am I doing in Eresh? Well, A while ago I heard a story abut a girl going missing, and that no-one had been able to find her in the woods around here.   So I travelled here slowly, as is my way, and thought that I might be able to get in touch with those who live in the woods around." Arggosh said softly, folding a slice or two of the meat and placing it on one of the slices of bread.   "I dont suppose you've heard of any critters of my ilk around these parts have you?" Arggosh looked the maid in the eyes saying  "Don't call me Milord. I'm not anyones lord. @Arggosh:

The tavern maid beamed as Arggosh handed 22 sans over to her. Not bad for a slow day! She paid extra attention to Arggosh as he related his reason why he was here in Eresh.

"I dont suppose you've heard of any critters of my ilk around these parts have you?"

The tavern maid hummed briefly, "Well, tr-- uhm ... those like you ... there are some that drop by every now and then, but we haven't been seeing any recently." She wondered why a troll would be interested in fame and riches, and rescuing a human princess. All that she had ever heard about trolls weren't exactly tales of a civilized nature.

"Don't call me Milord. I'm not anyones lord. I'm just a wanderer, call me Arggosh, all my friends do, and I hope I can count you as one of my friends, can I?"

The tavern maid chuckled. What a polite troll this was! Fascinating. Generous and well-mannered. "Well, they say you can never have too many friends M--Arggosh." she gave Arggosh a little curtsy as she heard a loud thud coming from the kitchen. "Ah, must be some horsing around again in the kitchen, i'll just take a look Arggosh, and don't you be shy about giving me a holler if you be needing anything else!" The tavern maid smiled at Arggosh again before sashaying towards the kitchen.

Ryldor's entrance to the Rusik this time, was much more subdued that his last. A scan of the room and he spotted his waitress from the previous evening. He quickly made his way through the room to the upper right corner where she was wiping down a table.

He got close to her, leaned over and whispered, "Hey beautiful. Save me a seat." Without waiting for a reply, he ran upstairs.

Carefully, he dusted himself off and fixed his appearance, before making his way back downstairs. He caught the eye of the waitress and made his way to the table she had been cleaning. He sat down and said "I'm glad you're here. I seem to be short a dining companion. Would you be able to sit for a minute before the evening rush?"

"Kalina, a beautiful name; I am sure it goes quite well with you as well, my name is Sephariath. It is a pleasure to meet you and I am grateful for your kindness in leading me here, I hope that this shall not be the only time that we spend together."

He bowed again and took up her hand, he then brought it to his mouth and gave it a gentle kiss, her skin was soft; he thought to himself......perhaps she could help him to find this man with the staff; apparently she is the only one to have spoken to him, and if this is true she could help him out quite well....and he wouldn't mind the company himself.

"Forgive me M'Lady, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind keeping me company, if it is not a burden that is; I am actually interested in this old man that everyone is talking about...it has gotten me wondering why he is so special, and considering that you are the only person that I have met here and that has seen and spoke to him....you could be of great importance."

Sephariath sat there calmly awaiting Kalina's responce......

@Ryldor:

The plump tavern maid was dilligently wiping the table top at the top right corner of the tavern common area after some rowdy patrons had just left, when a husky whisper suddenly floated into her ear, "Hey beautiful. Save me a seat." The voice sounded distinctly familiar, and she blushed as she turned around to see who it was. She managed to just catch the flash of Ryldor's figure rushing up the stairs. Oh, it's him! Her cheeks grew warm. She thought she would never see him again. And he called me beautiful!

When Ryldor returned down below, there was the plump tavern maid standing dreamily by the table. "I'm glad you're here. I seem to be short a dining companion. Would you be able to sit for a minute before the evening rush?"

The tavern maid's cheeks flushed again. Well, it was a slow day ... Lady Bretha was no where to be seen and ... the corner was relatively badly lit and all ... "Oh! Yes, Milord! If ... you'll have my company!" She almost giggled out loud. "But would you like for me to bring you something from the kitchen first, Milord?"

@Kalina & Sephariath:

((OOC: Judging by Sephariath's post, i will assume that

Tilia the tavern maid watched as Kalina and Sephariath made their way into the tavern and took a seat at a table. She remember Kalina, but Sephariath was a new face to her. Sephariath had strange milky eyes, and was led forward by Kalina into the tavern to the table. Is he ... blind?

Telling herself that it was none of her business anyway, she made her way towards them, a warm smile on her face as she greeted them, "Welcome back Milady!" she nodded politely at Kalina, then Sephariath. "And welcome to the Regal Rusik Milord! What can i be getting for the two of you?"

Kalina blushed as he lifted her fingers to his lips, something none has ever done to her before. She bowed her head in response, finding the man to be quite charming for company."Pleasure to meet you Sephariath." A soft smile playing gently upon her lips.

At his comment, Kalina once again smiled, "There is nothing more I would care to do than to be in your pleasant company, M'Lord." She bowed her head once more, "I truely know very little about the man. But I assure you that I will help in anyway possible."

As they made their way inside the tavern, Kalina recognized many of the maids there.

"Welcome back Milady!" "And welcome to the Regal Rusik Milord! What can i be getting for the two of you?"

Kalina smiled and shook her head, "I am fine for the moment." She turned the man at her side...

"There is nothing more I would care to do than to be in your pleasant company, M'Lord."

"I truly know very little about the man. But I assure you that I will help in anyway possible."

Sephariath stood silent, pondering how he had managed to meet someone so kind so quickly. It is not everyday that this possibly could happen to a man like himself...most people find him hard to approach just from looking into his eyes. Regardless he was delighted and a smile encroached his jaw.

Just then another voice rang out "Welcome back Milady!" "And welcome to the Regal Rusik Milord! What can i be getting for the two of you?"

Kalina was the first to respond"I am fine for the moment."

Sephariath stood for a moment pondering his response, then politly began to speak.

"I would find nothing better than to rest my legs in your establishment M'Lady, and perhaps a refreshing glass of water to assist my lips would be pleasant as well."

He pulled his chair in a little closer to the table, and awaited for the drink, he slowly turned toward Kalina and spoke.

"I am ever so grateful to you, and your company Kalina; I know not how to repay you for your kindness, but if you do find away please tell me of it. But I am curious, had you seen which way the man left? It could be a start to the search, and do you know of why they are looking for this man? I am curious to know, because an elderly man...this doesn't seem so dangerous to me; mind you I am not from here and I know not the kinds of people that inhabit the area....though I am finding them to be particularly nice and intriguing thus far."

He then looked at Kalina, if only he could see her....her voice sounds so beautiful when she speaks.....this thought was his last before he awaited her response.

Tilia nodded and smiled at Sephariath. For someone who looked like a journey worn traveller, Sephariath was sure well-mannered and well-spoken. "A glass of cold water will surely do you good, Milord, for you certainly look worn and weary." She gestured towards the counter, "Lady Bretha is the person you would be speaking to for a room for the night. Is there anything else i can get for you, Milord? Perhaps some hot broth? Stew?" Tilia smiled pleasantly at Sephariath, awaiting his reply.

Lady Bretha she had said to him, Sephariath slowly began to look around, wondering where the counter and Lady Bretha actually were, he paused looking up at the lady in front of him.

"Well M'Lady I am glad you have told me as to where I may get my lodging and drink; now if I could only find those places" Sephariath grew a slow smile from the jest toward himself. "Unfortunately, I cannot see quite as well as you, it is a little dark in here for myself; but I am sure I will navigate myself just fine; I thank you again for your hospitality."

Sephariath smiled toward Kalina's direction and began to rise slowly as he turned around looking for an obstruction that resembled a counter, coming toward a satisfying conclusion on a long object that is chest height he slowly began to make his way toward it. When he arrived he spoke softly.

"Excuse me, I was wondering if I might bother you for a water....."

Sephariath awaited a response from the person behind the counter.

@Kalina & Sephariath:

Tilia watched in surprise as Sephariath rose from his seat and groped his way towards the counter. She didn't realize that he couldn't see too well, and that he was so anxious to get a room before she returned with his glass of water. Tilia followed closely behind Sephariath just to make sure that he didn't bump into anything and hurt himself.

Lady Bretha was hunched over the counter rummaging for jars in the shelves under the counter, but when she heard footsteps approaching, she stood erect and glanced at Sephariath.

"Excuse me, I was wondering if I might bother you for a water....."

Lady Bretha grunted and looked at Sephariath oddly. She noticed that Tilia was following closely behind, "Tilia! Go get the man a glass of water!" Tilia nodded nervously and turned and headed towards the kitchen. Turning her annoyed glare back to Sephariath, she tried to sound cheerful, "Now then, Milord, what can i be doing for yer?"

"Tilia! Go get the man a glass of water!"

"Now then, Milord, what can i be doing for yer?"

Startled that the lady had been so harsh to her employee, he wondered how she might have acted if he asked for a meal. Disregarding his thought he began to speak to the lady.

"You must be Lady Bretha, my name is Sephariath; I didn't mean to pose a problem for Tilia or yourself with my question I misunderstood her that is all. I apologize, I was wondering how much a room is; if it isn't too much trouble."

Sephariath looked around calmly noticing shadow movement around, he rested his one hand on the counter and the forearm of the other was rested on the hilt of his sword. He stood awaiting a response from Lady Bretha, hoping it wasn't anything too harsh.

Lady Bretha grunted, this time, a little less annoyed, especially when someone is talking about paying for something, "Rooms will be 25 sans a night, paid in advance, Milord. Well worth yer money, if i may say." Lady Bretha chuckled, a throaty chuckle. She started scribbling noisily on the rough pad in front of her on the counter, and reached one hand behind to grab a key to a room, "And how many nights will yer be wanting the room, Milord?"

Ryldor smile brightly at the waitress and said "An ale please. That would be divine." The waitress returned quickly and placed the drink in front of Ryldor, before slowly lowering herself into the seat.

A sip of the ale and Ryldor looked deep into her eyes. "I appreciate you joining me. I do hate sitting alone." Another sip of the ale and he continued, "That's pretty good. Although with the prices they charge, it should be." An apologetic look crossed Ryldor's face. "Not that's it your fault of course. Too bad it's the only inn in town…" Ryldor stopped talking and pondered for a second "I wonder how hard it would be to open an inn here. I'm always on the lookout for new business opportunities and the town seems like a decent place. Perhaps you could help me. Well in addition to being my first hire," he said with a wink. "Would Prince Vinigold be the person to talk to? I wouldn't want to start making plans without discussing it with the local powers."

He added, "I should probably speak to the Prince or one of his representatives anyway. It's always good to have friends in high places. Does he take audiences or is there a better way to make his acquaintance?"

Sephariath thought to himself, 25 sans a night...wow these must be luxurious rooms. Though price had never made a difference to him in the least, he began to reach into his pouch and pulled forth enough to pay for the room.

"And how many nights will yer be wanting the room, Milord?"

"Just one night M'Lady, I feel that I shouldn't linger in one place too long; get nothing done that way."

Sephariath exchanged her the key for the monies. As he did so he turned around and attempted to remember which direction he was sitting in. Alas everything looked the same to him, he placed the key in his pouch and began to slowly and carefully walk straight back from the counter. Feeling his way around with just the sounds around him played difficult in this place, he began to speak as he walked "Kalina", as he made his way around, hoping she would see or hear him soon. He did not want to make a spectacle of himself.

"Kalina".........

@Ryldor:

The tavern maid's eyes grew large and wide when she heard Ryldor mention his idea of setting up his own inn. She had propped up her head on the table with her hands, staring dreamily into the tall elf's eyes as he gazed upon her, thoroughly enjoying the attention and his soft soothing voice. She blinked to make sure that she had heard what she had heard.

"Would Prince Vinigold be the person to talk to? I wouldn't want to start making plans without discussing it with the local powers."

It seemed like the elf was serious. "Well ... Milord ..." she shifted awkwardly in her seat, "The Prince does not come here, Milord ... well ... only once, and that was a long time ago ..."

"I should probably speak to the Prince or one of his representatives anyway. It's always good to have friends in high places. Does he take audiences or is there a better way to make his acquaintance?"

A faint smile lit up across the tavern maid's face, "You would only be getting an audience with the Prince if you travelled all the way to Caelum, Milord, 5 days journey away ... but you could probably speak to Sir Olpeg, a little ways South in the village, Milord. Sir Olpeg is the Baron of these lands, and if you be wanting to set up an establishment, you should probably request an audience with Sir Olpeg at his residence. Though --" the tavern maid leaned forward closer to Ryldor, " -- Lady Bretha has much  ... power and authority in Eresh, even though, she's ..." she hushed her voice lower than ever, " ... not a real lady at all, not royalty at all." She shrugged, "All i'm saying Milord, is that you might run into some problems with Lady Bretha, if you want to set up a competing establishment, that's all."

How do you like working for Lady Bertha? Wait. How does she have that much power here and use the title 'Lady' if she's not real royalty?"

@Ryldor:

"So how long have you been in Eresh? How do you like working for Lady Bertha?"

The tavern maid shrugged again, narrowing her eyes and stealing a glance towards Lady Bretha who was standing at the counter, "I've lived here all my life Milord, a true Ereshian, that's what i am, and well ... Lady Bretha is ... harsh and hard on everyone, but the job pays very well, so, we all stick it out ..."

"Wait. How does she have that much power here and use the title 'Lady' if she's not real royalty?"

A grin lit up across her face, "Ah ... only outsiders ask that sort of question, Milord," she chuckled, but softly, so that Lady Bretha wouldn't hear her, "What Lady Bretha has is land, and lots of it. She has been trying for years to get on the good side of Sir Olpeg and the Royal Guards in her bid to get a title of royalty and be a real 'Lady'. Lady Bretha is generous, but only to the right kind of people, you know what i mean?" She leaned forward once more, a secretive glint in her eyes, "Lady Bretha almost succeeded once ... obtaining her title, i mean, but what happened to Kestrel, her sister, threw a stigma over Lady Bretha, and Lady Bretha has been trying to regain ground ever since."

Ryldor leaned back in his seat, a contemplative expression on his face. "Hmmm. It seems like there's an interesting dynamic her in Eresh. If Lady Bretha has that much land, it might be tough setting anything up here." He paused with a frown hoping the implications would be clear. "I'm definitely going to need to get in with Sir Olpeg if I'm to have any hope of making regular returns here. Too bad I know so little about him"

He paused again seemingly deep in thought. "My best chance might be solving that little mystery. I'm sure that would get me in good stead. Unfortunately, I'm quite ignorant of the details although I think I'd have a decent chance getting to the bottom of it if just had someone who could tell me what happened."

A resigned sigh crossed his lips "Oh well. I guess my staying here just wasn't meant to be. It's good to know you'll be happy… well, content at least, here with Lady Bretha."

@Sephariath:

Millie the tavern maid watched as Sephariath groped about to find his way, calling out for Kalina, but Kalina was quite a distance away to have heard his call in the tavern that was now gradually filling up.

Making her way towards Sephariath, Millie gently held Sephariath's arm to try to guide him to where he was going, "Let me help you, Milord." Slowly, they made their way back towards the table, "Tis a little hard for you to be getting around, isn't it, Milord? Why have you made your way to Eresh, if you don't mind a tavern maid asking?"

"Let me help you, Milord."

As she grabbed his arm and led him back to where he was sitting she proposed a question that he knows everyone thinks of when they see him wandering.

"Tis a little hard for you to be getting around, isn't it, Milord? Why have you made your way to Eresh, if you don't mind a tavern maid asking?"

Sephariath stopped at the end of the question, slowly turned and looked at her; his eyes staring down toward her, a small smile crept across his face before he replied.

"Well M'Lady, I have accomplished quite a few things in my time here. I have trained hard and can wield both weapons that are strapped to me just as well as any other. I have traveled around a little and as time went by I wanted to know more about the world we live in."

Sephariath paused, he grasped both the tavern maids' hands and drew them closer to him a look of inspiration crossed his face before he drew in his next breath.

"I want to experience all that life has to offer, I want to be able to tell my family when I see them next all the great things I have done and experienced......and do not just think of yourself as just a tavern maid M'Lady, we are all equal, at least in my eyes we are....."

Sephariath let go of her hands and regained his stance as before, still looking at her, he wondered what her reaction would be to what he had just said.

"I do thank you for your kindness M'Lady"

Sephariath tipped his head down in thanks awaiting her reply.

@Ryldor:

The tavern maid listened without even blinking an eye as Ryldor spoke, hanging on his every word. With his every passing sentence, her heart sank. She had so hoped he would really stay and open an inn in Eresh ... she would like to see more of him, and he seemed to like her company too. But he was right, Lady Bretha would be the first and largest obstacle, and she didn't know much about royalty either to comment on the baron. But, she had heard lots of rumours about the disappearnce of the princess, maybe some of it could help the elf and allow him to have some leverage with the baron to stay.

Her brows twitched as she started to spoke, "Well, Milord, it would be ... a shame if you left ... and the Princess ... well, no one really knows what happened, no one has solved it yet ..." she shrugged, "But, over the years i've heard a fair bit of rumours, Milord." She cleared her throat before speaking again, "Some say the royalty know more about the Princess' disappearance then they are willing to share. Myself, i've heard quite a fair bit that Lady Bretha knows much about the woods than she shows ... she has a sister you know, name's Kestrel, who used to gather herbs round the woods. But that was until she ... Kestrel i mean ... she ... turned crazy when the Princess disappeared. Lady Bretha did not breathe a word of it to anyone what happened, but wouldn't you find it odd too, Milord, that Kestrel would lose her mind right after the Princess disappeared?" The tavern maid straightened up again, "And i figure those nobles know much more than they let on ..."

Ryldor could see the young girl's heart sinking as he spoke. "Don't fret dear one. I'm not giving up yet." he said as he placed his hand on hers before quickly pulling away. He continued, but spoke slowly as if searching for words, "Sorry. Umm. So, umm, royalty. That reminds me. I hear Prince Vinigold was there when the Princess disappeared, but details seem to be very scarce. I don't understand how that can be."

"Well it seems like I'll definitely need to speak Sir Olpeg, both for my inn and the mystery. Hopefully it won't be too hard to get an audience with him. I guess that will be my next stop. Where could I find him?"

Millie blushed. Well, tis easy for all those great adventurers to say as such, she thought to herself sadly, but the fact remains that i am still a mere tavern maid. Smiling back towards Sephariath, she nodded, "Aye, i thank you for your kind words Milord."

Just then, Tilia walked up with Sephariath's glass of cold water. Placing the glass carefully on the table and making sure that Sephariath knew where it was, Tilia spoke, "No charge for the water Milord, if you would like a meal, just let myself or Millie here know."

Millie got ready to leave the table along with Tilia, but she couldn't resist asking Sephariath one more last question, "Seems like ... you are an adventurer, Milord, you didn't ... come here becauase of the Princess, did you?"

@Ryldor:

The tavern maid's heart skipped a beat when Ryldor placed his hand briefly over hers. Ah, but it was so brief! Listening to Ryldor speak, she hoped that her information was of some help. As he mentioned the Prince, she furrowed her brows, "Well, the word is that the Prince stayed in bed for a month unable to speak to anyone about anything, so great and terrible was his experience escaping from whatever it was within the woods. After the Prince recovered, he refused to speak to anyone regarding that fateful about what happened to the Princess. That's all i know ... perhaps ... the Prince has remembered something of importance? That's the gossip i've been hearing, that they have uncovered something new ... but ..." she shrugged, "I really don't know Milord."

"Well it seems like I'll definitely need to speak Sir Olpeg, both for my inn and the mystery. Hopefully it won't be too hard to get an audience with him. I guess that will be my next stop. Where could I find him?"

The tavern maid smiled, and hoped that Ryldor would be able to reach an agreement with Sir Olpeg for his inn. She thought that Ryldor was such a charming and well-spoken man ... well, elf, really, and was sure that he would meet with success. "Well, you go a little ways to the Southwest from the village center, Milord. Eresh is small and Sir Olpeg's residence is the only other stone building besides the Rusik Milord, so you won't miss it as it comes up. It's right at the edge before the outskirts Milord." Impulsively, she reached her hand over and gave Ryldor's hand a gentle squeeze. "Good luck, Milord!"

Sephariath smiled again, he glanced at the table to where the water was to be put. As he was about to sit down Millie spoke again.

"Seems like ... you are an adventurer, Milord, you didn't ... come here because of the Princess, did you?"

Sephariath stood up straight and looked over toward Millie, her figure still where it was before. He turned toward her and began to speak softly, with the intelligence he possessed.

"No M'Lady I was unaware of any happenings in these parts, the only thing that sparked my interests were the guards outside asking about an elderly man with a staff. Please if you do not mind me gathering at my table with you, I would most like to hear of all that is news in these parts; for I would have nothing more than enjoy a good adventure."

Sephariath sat in his chair and gestured toward another at the end of the table for Millie to sit at, he then proceeded to grab a hold of his water and quench the thirst he had. After drinking he asked Millie.

"What are the rumors around here as of late?"

He left the Rusik and made his way to the right, if I remember correctly. I do not, unfortunately, know why they are searching for the man but I believe it has something to do witht the Princess for many things seem to here."

She sighed. She really did know very little and realized she would most likely be more of a burden than any help. She sat watching the man with interest as he seemed to study her with his blind eyes. Deep in thought, she strayed for several minutes into her thoughts but soon returned to find that she had missed quite a bit as she had drifted for the short time that she had. She settled herself in just listening, hoping to pick up any information that would be helpful, carefully sipping her water.

There is much to do, before the evening rush of patrons, and Lady Bretha would not be pleased if she sees me sitting around chatting with the patrons instead of serving them." She smiled in gratitude.

"What are the rumors around here as of late?"

"Well, Milord, there's really nothing much about Eresh except for the Princess, and all rumours relate to her one way or another .." She sighed, "Poor soul, the Princess. Seven years in those ... horrible woods!" Her body seemed to shudder. "But of late, i've been hearing that something is afoot, that perhaps the Prince has discovered, or remembered something regarding the disappearance of the Princess, and is launching a renewed effort in the search for the Princess. The Prince was there with the Princess when she disappeared you know, both made it into the woods but only the Princes made it out. The Prince never talked about what happened after that ... but maybe he has recalled something ..."

Sephariath smiled, and looked up toward her figure, slowly resting the cup upon his lips and then back down to the table; his words were serious, yet respond-able.

"Well Millie, I do thank you for your time and knowledge, I see I shall have to locate the prince, wherever he might be; or even engage in entering these woods myself. I fear not what I cannot see; and if I cannot see what is in there....then I am as safe as I have ever been."

Sephariath nodded his head to Millie in gratitude, then looked toward Kalina; her arms were up by her mouth and he could hear a very slow amount of drinking going on. His face calm and smiling still. Wondering as to why she was so quiet he began to inquire upon her.

"Madam Kalina, you are very quiet, what is it that you are thinking upon? I think perhaps we should go to the source and find what is going on in this little ploy; it could play in our best interests.....of course after a good night sleep. I would like to sleep in a bed instead of on a bedroll. *Sephariath grinned* Will you be joining me for supper?"

Sephariath leaned back in his chair looking at Kalina softly, in thought himself.

She lowered the cup and bowed her head. She did not mean to be so distant yet...it seemed to be her fate as of late. "I apologize sir. I was merely thinking of my brother who has disappeared as of the last few months and I have been searching for him."

She fell silent once more but soon shook off whatever was on her mind and returned to her cheerful self. "I would love to join you for dinner. What did you have in mind?" Her voice once again her soft and resonant tone. A small smile played gently upon her lips as she watched the man out of the corner of her eye.

"I apologize sir. I was merely thinking of my brother who has disappeared as of the last few months and I have been searching for him."

Sephariath's grin faded, a concerned look came to his face; after all she had helped him out this far without regard for her own problems. His concern grew as her demeanor changed from distant to happy, something should be done to help her as well, perhaps they are both gone for the same reasons?

"I would love to join you for dinner. What did you have in mind?"

Sephariath looked at her almost in surprise for her instant turn around. Speechless he quickly picked up his water and took a long drawn out drink of it, placing it on the table slowly he carefully chose his words.

"Well M'Lady, I was thinking whatever you thought would be suitable for dinner; I have no preferences as I am very new here. Perhaps we could, take a trip into the woods tomorrow, if you would like to; you said you have been searching for your brother; right? Is there a chance that he and the princess are in the same place, or the same thing has happened to the both of them....forgive my ignorance as I know not what nor where he went missing and for what reasoning."

Sephariath's look changed to compassion, he felt bad for Kalinas' situation, but could not let his feelings overtake him, he must keep a straight mind; but couldn't help this....she is such a kind person, the first genuinely kind person he has met in a very long time, he gazed in her direction, hoping he could help her; if she would let him.

She watched his expressions change as she spoke about her brother. This was the first one that she had disclosed such information to and his reaction surprised her. Most would've just shrugged it off but he seemed truly concerned. It touched her to finally meet someone who cares for someone other than himself.

She chuckled, "I know as much as you do execpt that he was most likely taken captive and I have not seen him since. It is possible for at this point anything is possible."
She sighed sadly for she missed him dearly. He was the only one who could comfort her when her nightmares came.
"While people have been searching for the Princess, I have been using the information that people have collected to helping me search for him."

@Sephariath & Kalina:

Millie stood by silently as Sephariath and Kalina spoke to each other. She wondered if the two were really serious about going into the Shivering Woods. To her, one had trouble with sight, the other looked extremely dainty and fragile, and both did not look like fiercesome skilled warriors to her.

Ready to take her leave from the table, she nodded apologetically to both Sephariath and Kalina, for interrupting their conversation, "Milord, Milady, if you will take the advice of a humble tavern maid, you best not be venturing into those woods ... there are evil forces at work in there, and tales of bloodthirsty elves that i've grown up with all my life." Smiling again, she turned to Kalina, "Would Milady like a meal before i go off serving other patrons?"

"No thank you," she smiled before turning her attention to Sephariath once more.
She had heard many talking about the woods but she was set, it would be a good place to start out for the time being.

Once the maid had left she spoke once again to the man across from her, "We shall start in the woods. It seems to be an interesting place the way people have spoken of it. I think it sounds fascinating but then again I am not frightened by many things."

(ooc: a quick post just to officially leave the Rusik. I'll post at Sir Olpeg when I get a chance)

Rydor smiled as the tavern maid's hand touched his and he squeezed back. "Thank you for good wishes. Hopefully I'll not need them. Now I fear I've kept you too long. I'd hate to get you into trouble with the Lady Bertha, so I feel I should take my leave and pay Sir Olpeg a visit." With that he lifted her hand to his lips, kissed the back of her hand and quickly made his way towards the door, whispering "I'll see you soon" as he left.

"We shall start in the woods. It seems to be an interesting place the way people have spoken of it. I think it sounds fascinating but then again I am not frightened by many things."

Sephariath smiled at her courage. He had not known many women to agree to such tasks, but family was in question; no doubt that had something to do with it all. He himself had been craving adventure since his last expedition from his homelands, this could prove to be quite the experience if what Millie had said was true....bloodthirsty elves.

"Well M'Lady, I shall agree to your fascination with the woods, and with you as my eyes there should be no problems for myself *Sephariath looked at her figure with confidence as he spoke, for he truly trusted her judgment*. I must say Kalina, you are quite the woman; and you have my respect for this something not easily gained by those I barely know."

Sephariath glanced around quickly then back to Kalina as he just realized she hadn't ordered a meal when Millie had asked her.

"M'Lady you had agreed to staying with me for a meal at the least, why didn't you order it when Millie asked? "

Sephariath sat calmly awaiting Kalina's response

She blushed slightly and the compliments. Respect was something she was happy to obtain for many don't seem to respect her, for she is small and seemily powerless and dependent.

"Thank you sir. I am grateful for your trust and I will do my best to keep it," she assured softly. "I am ready and willing to follow you to the woods if that is where you wish to go."

"M'Lady you had agreed to staying with me for a meal at the least, why didn't you order it when Millie asked? "

She sighed sadly. Ever since her brother disappeared her appetite drastically decreased to almost nothing. She knew she had to eat but she never felt like it.

"Recently, eating something has made me sick. I do not know the cause but...I am hoping that my appetite will return soon. Unfortunately it is not tonight." she admitted sadly. "I apologize if this disturbs you." She bowed her head in shame.

Sephariath looked upon Kalina's figure, the figure of her head down wards, she seemed saddened by her recent lack of appetite. As he gazed toward her he brought a hand out and placed it on her chin, raising her head ever so slightly.

"M'lady, disturbs me this does not; besides the lack of appetite, it is not healthy for a young woman as yourself not to eat. Perhaps when we find your brother it shall return." His voice, strong and assuring. "For now you had better get some rest for the morrow, we should leave at dawn."

Sephariath slowly began to feel around for his room key, upon finding it he placed it on the table.

"If you would walk me to my room M'Lady, I would appreciate it"

Sephariath began to stand ever so slowly hoping Kalina would escort him once more.

She smiled slightly...he was so kind and polite. The first one of such a temperment she has come across in her travels and she felt gratefully relieved now that she had.

"If you would walk me to my room M'Lady, I would appreciate it"

She nodded and took his arm, carefully guiding him amongst the tables and chairs to his room.

@Kalina & Sephariath:

Kalina carefully led Sephariath up the stairs to the door of his room on the second floor. Kalina decided to help Sephariath slip the key inside the key hole and open the door for him, instead of leaving Sephariath to jiggle away at the key hole.

As Kalina turned the lock and the door started to open with a creak, a round figure brushed against the both of them in a huff, albeit a little rudely, but the figure didn't seem to care nor stop to apologize. Turning their heads slightly, Kalina and Sephariath saw that it was Lady Bretha. She was off in an instant, you the two of them could hear her mumbling in obvious anger as she swept by, "Drat that Eve Magoo! Sweet talk me into providing a room at half price! Where the Coor is my hired chef??!!"

Bidding Sephariath good night at his door, Kalina retired for the night as well.

Night went by as swiftly as the wind. It was soon 7 Bells in the morning, the soft golden rays of the morning sun streaming into Eresh and its surrounding areas.

Right, if both of you want to have some more conversation, then continue posting in the Rusik thread. If you want to speed things up, post in the Village Outskirts thread and one of you should post that the two of you made your way towards the woods early in the morning.
