Title: Village Outskirts Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 07, 2003, 11:38:22 AM Upon exiting the perimeter of the village that marked the boudaries of Eresh, the vast wilderness lay unfolding in sight. Without a specific direction or location in mind, one would surely not know how or where to head, and having no idea where one would end up at.
You see armed guards clad in armour with the Kyranian coat of arms displayed prominently on their vests and flags, some on steeds and some seemingly patrolling on foot, as if they were keeping their eyes out for something or somebody. Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Sephariath on December 10, 2003, 08:43:22 AM Sephariath approached the outskirts of the village after a long and tiresome day, he took note of the figures patrolling and took caution approaching ever so slowly, his eyesight caught the waiving of materials in the air and he hoped it was a flag for he then knew he had reached a place where he would find shelter and food. His rations had been slowly disappearing from his travels and he knew he would be in need of a good bath and fresh fruits. But to what this new place offered he knew not, yet he proceeded to the entrance.....
Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 10, 2003, 11:24:22 AM The guards were growing tired of patrolling the village perimeter and having to question every single villager or traveller that went in and out of the village. Still, orders were orders, and questioning wasn't too hard a job anyway, it was just extremely dull and repetitive.
One of the guards spotted Sephariath approaching, and took a long suspicious look at him. He had never seen Sephariath before, but then again, newcomers to Eresh was nothing odd or new. Stepping up towards Sephariath in his path, the guard barked out, "Halt! State your name, sir, and we would appreciate it if you would answer a few questions." Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Sephariath on December 10, 2003, 05:52:22 PM Sephariath was startled abruptly, then realized they must have been gaurds. He stopped moving and concentrated upon the figure infront of him, his milky white eyes slowly scanned around as he replied. " My name is Sephariath, what are these questions you are to ask of me?"
Sephariath stared towards the mans head, the small figure ontop his armored body; he could hear the clanging of metal once he approached him. He waited to answer to the jury..... Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 11, 2003, 12:58:22 AM "My name is Sephariath, what are these questions you are to ask of me?"
The guard was a little taken aback when he noticed Sephariath's milky white eyes. He wondered if Sephariath was blind, but then again, Sephariath seemed to be making his way around just fine. The guard approached Sephariath cautiously, "Your name, good sir? Are you a traveller, to Eresh? If so, have you met an old man on your way here, an aged, wizened old man, with a staff the colour of chrome?" Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Sephariath on December 11, 2003, 03:35:22 AM Sephariath, paused and wondered to himself why would they be looking for an old man, with a staff the color of chrome....to which he had no idea of how to depict even if he were to have seen him. Regardless he replied.
" You may call me a traveller if you will, but as for the old man with a chrome staff that you speak of, I have seen none travelling the way I had come. Even if I had seen the figure I would not be able to tell how old they were or what color their staff was unless they were to speak to me and tell me themselves; unfortunatly I cannot even see your face, just the outline of your head sir. I come here in search of new knowledge and experiences, though as for seeking someone in particular out I think I am of little use to you." Sephariath glanced around again noting the figures and where they patrolled. He focused his eyes back upon the figure infront of him and nodded his head, and asked. "But would you be able to give directions to a disadvantaged man, I am looking to get room and board; hopefully some tasty cooking as well......that is if you are done with me here?" Sephariath straightened his stance out and awaited a responce from the gaurdsman.... Ah, so he's not blind, but he can't really see that well either. He nodded in response, "Our gratitude, good sir, for your assistance."
"But would you be able to give directions to a disadvantaged man, I am looking to get room and board; hopefully some tasty cooking as well......that is if you are done with me here?" The guard wondered if Sephariath would be able to find his way to the tavern if he gave him directions, Sephariath didn't seem to be able to see too well. However, they were short on guards, and he was sure that the lieutanent in charge would not be too happy to spare a guard for the purpose of accompanying a lone traveller to the tavern. The guard hoped that Sephariath would be able to get to the tavern alright without someone to lead him there. "Keep going forward, good sir, until you come to a large blue banner with gold trimmings on a stone building to your left. You can't miss it, the building is the largest here, and the banner is eye-catching enough. There you will get food and shelter as long as you have the coins to pay for it. You may proceed into Eresh, good sir." He waved Sephariath on his way, and walked over to another villager for questioning. She noticed a man there talking with the guard. Hmm...perhaps I could be of assistance...or should I just continue onto the encampment?
Slowly she made her way over to them and talked with the guard. Upon her approach she examined the man closer, his eyes milkly as if they were blind or fairly close to blindness. "Could I be of assistance?" she voice soft and gentle with a musical tone. Her hair flowing over her shoulders like a golden water fall, shimmering in the sun. The guard looked at Kalina glancing at Sephariath, and wondered if they were together. But then he realized that didn't make much sense, since one was coming out from the village, while the other had just arrived, unless they had planned it from the beginning ... turning to Kalina, the guard asked the questions he had been instructed to, "This will but take a moment, Milady. Have you by any chance come upon an old man with a chrome staff along your way within the village, Milady?" The old man at the Rusik...everyone is looking for him...Why is he so important? The guards question and surprised her for she had not expected such a question. "I....I have come upon such a man. Why does m'lord request such information?" She bowed her head humbly as she stumbled over her words. she cast a glance in the other man's direction, hopefully he would help her in this matter...she could not lie, it would be her downfall. The words rang through Sephariaths' ears....perhaps she could be of some use to him, in either finding his way around for he could not be sure he would recognise a banner even if it were as elaborate as the gaurd had explained....or perhaps she could lead him to this notorious man, he was sure there had to be some sort of reward for this man. "M'Lady, would you be of some assistance to me, the gaurd gave me wonderous directions to the inn, but alas I do not think myself able to recognise the banner. It would help me greatly, that is if you could spare a mere moment for myself?" He slowly wandered near her and the gaurd and intentionally ignored him as if he hadn't seen him stepped inbetween... "Is..is that you M'Lady? forgive me I just cannot tell" Sephariath reached a hand out into thin air, but in Kalina's direction, feeling out for something to hold on to as a guide.... The guard's eyes widened as he heard Kalina's answer. Narrowing his eyes, he continued to direct another question to Kalina, this time his tone firm and serious, "Your answer will aid the Royal Guards in apprehending this man, Milady. Prince Viginold has sent express orders to detain him, and the reasons are not privy to us nor the villagers. Where did you come across the old man, and where did you last see him venture to?" Before Kalina could answer though, Sephariath had made his way between the guard and Kalina, and the guard muttered under his breath in annoyance. Blind men like him have no business wandering around! But acquiring the information about the old man was important, and he stood and waited for Kalina's answer. Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Celestial Delmar on December 12, 2003, 02:30:22 PM Well then, she had stumbled on something rather odd...
Having made her way from the crowded village, she lowered her arm, that raven perched gently still, those eerie golden eyes glimmering in the light, as it chittered bitterly, nibbling on the fold of her cloak. She'd taken into the account, the man, as well as the elven woman, but her main attention was on the guard. Yes, something told her he was the one to question, although from the looks of it, he was the one doing most of the questioning. She'd caught something about an old man...She'd remembered talk of a man at the Rusik, although why they sought him out she wasn't sure. Either way, she had one purpose here, knowledge of the forest...and that was what she'd come for. "Excuse me...I hope I'm not interrupting anything..." Stern edge to her voice as she'd made her presence to them known, a light bow given, to the distaste of her companion, her chittered once more, hopping up onto her shoulder, and cawing softly. The wind bustled through the fine raven strands of her hair, glimmering along the crimson that lay randomly streaked throughout, tucking gently behind her pointed ears, revealing the obvious Elven heritage that lay within her veins. "I have a few questions I'd like to inquire, if it wouldn't be too much trouble. I'm not from around here to be honest...would you mind helping me?" Referring to the three of them, as her gaze settled on each of them in turn... Memories of the past forgotten for it is in the future I have finally found my peace… Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on December 12, 2003, 04:30:22 PM "M'Lady, would you be of some assistance to me, the gaurd gave me wonderous directions to the inn, but alas I do not think myself able to recognise the banner. She led the man to her side before turning to answer the guard. "Your answer will aid the Royal Guards in apprehending this man, Milady. "I have already spoken to some of the Prince's subject's about the old man and they have found the little information that I have given insignificant but if you wish..." The guard nodded at Kalina's answer -- any information he managed to obtain would please his superiors very much, "Yes, what do you know about the old man?" Before Kalina could answer though, another Elven lady had stepped into the conversation. "Excuse me...I hope I'm not interrupting anything ... I have a few questions I'd like to inquire, if it wouldn't be too much trouble. I'm not from around here to be honest...would you mind helping me?" The guard grumbled to himself. As Kalina shifted her attention to the Elven lady, the guard gestured towards another guard that was walking back and forth in patrol, signalling for the other guard to come over and help him out. The other guard soon arrived at the first guard's side. He was slightly shorter, and stouter. He turned towards Celestial, "Milady, please, follow me," he gestured to a short distance away, and waited for Celestial to follow him. Heaving a heavy sigh, the first guard turned to Kalina again, and hoped that she wouldn't find some other excuse now to talk to the half-blind man besides her or something else. He sensed that Kalina seemed a little hesitant in answering his question, and that wasn't a good thing, he would have to keep a close eye on her until she answered all his questions. "Now then, Milady, please, do tell what you know about this old man that we were speaking of." Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on December 13, 2003, 03:55:22 AM "Now then, Milady, please, do tell what you know about this old man that we were speaking of."
She sighe, the last thing she wanted was to cause trouble but she didn't see the point in relaying the same information five times to different people under the same person. "I spoke with him only briefly. All he said to me was warning not to get involved in the search for the princess, of which at the time, I have no intention of doing," She spoke softly. She hadn't decided whether or not to join the search. She has just been able to aid those who were. "Only something of great importance would be able to convince me to not heed the man's warning," Satisfied with her answer she turned once again to the man at her side. "I apologize for the delay, I had no idea that this old man that they speak of is so important." Perhaps I should go in search of him. He seemed as one that I would enjoy conversing with. Okay then, I guess I'll retrieve her later... she'll be fine... aye.... (she murmured to herself before turning to Yerun with a kind smile pasted across her face) Well then, my boy, let us be off! She extended a hand behind her to keep Yerun quiet and to make sure he was still there and would stay that way. The hour is getting late, the roads are not as safe as they should be as dusk falls. If you're planning to head off from Eresh, i suggest you ask for shelter upon reaching the main encampment due west here when nightfall approaches. She looked around hearing the distince cries of birds, and due to her natural ability to understand the animals she could hear only mumbles. Their voices were usually clearer, but as she drew closer to the forest their voices seemed to become muffled. She sighed and looked at the woman, suddenly unable to remember if they had even properly introduced themselves.
"Pardon, ma'am, but I feel very rude. My name is Evelaria Magoo, but call me Eve. I am a warrior, raised and trained by the Mullogs of the Silvermarshes. May I ask what your name is? The woman and Eve made their way towards the village outskirts, where a patrol of Kyranian Royal Guards seemed to be questioning everyone that was making their way in and out of the village. "Pardon, ma'am, but I feel very rude. My name is Evelaria Magoo, but call me Eve. I am a warrior, raised and trained by the Mullogs of the Silvermarshes. May I ask what your name is? If you already told me, then I apologize, my mind seems to be a jumble of thoughts and feelings." The woman smiled warmly and gently took one of Eve's hand into her own. "Oh, no, my dear, you have been very kind, and very kind to accompany me to the woods, yes ... yes, i will call you Eve, if you don't mind, my dear. And i'm Helli, ol' Helli, everyone calls me ... ah, silly me, where were my manners ... but now we know both our names --" Helli was interrupted by the loud voice of a guard who hailed at both Eve and Helli, "Halt there! Title: Village Outskirts Post by: Evelaria on January 05, 2004, 05:31:22 PM Evelaria was about to reply to Helli when the loud voice of a male crept up into her ears. The woman turned around swiftly, her beaded braids swinging in the wind and clashing against one another as they fell back into place. Her cloak was slightly lifted above the ground as she turned and her axes gave off a slight clank. She looked up at the man, who turned out to be a guard.
"Halt there! Please step over here. Either of you ladies happen to come across an elderly man in a grey cloak with a chrome staff in hand in the village?" Evelaria knew exactly what this man was talking about, but she wasn't about to let on to any of it. She raised an eyebrow as though she were confused about the man's questions and she glanced over at Helli and shrugged. "I have not seen any man like the one you suggested around these parts, My Lord." She was being polite, fake yet polite. If she were herself she would have pulled out her axes and swung one at his elbow closest to his weapon and then another at his throat and then grabbed Helli and ran off. But she was in no mood to kill an innocent man. Chaos seemed to have calmed down since the Seer's words were spoken to Eve. Eve looked back at Helli and sighed. "What is all of this about?" she asked returning her gaze to the solider. Title: Re: Village Outskirts Post by: Khiera Meneris on January 06, 2004, 03:32:22 AM @Eve:

Besides, he was getting bored and tired of repeated questioning, and the hour was getting late. He was looking forward to the end of the shift. "What is all of this about?" The guard overheard Eve's question. "Well, Milady, that man is wanted by the Prince, to be brought back to Caelum. We are only carrying out orders. She awoke early the next morning, refreshed and ready to being the day. She met Sephariath in the Tavern for a quick meal before heading on their way to the Shivering Wood. Not much was said as they made their way from the town other than the brief exchange of information and other small talk that they could come up with at the spur of the moment. She guided him through the now bustling streets to the gate, where they were allowed to pass quickly for there was already a long line of people awaiting their turn to enter for many reasons. Not many skirmishes were seen and for that Kalina was sincerely grateful. Those things unnerved her and she did not care to get caught up in one by just walking by. The Shivering Woods, such a fascinating name for a place. She didn't really understand much about the woods but from what she had heard, it was not the most welcoming place to visit, even for a short period of time. Sure hope we shall be alright, considering that both of us are limited physically in our abilities to fight. This fact worried her a little but did not dampen her spirits for the sense of adventure and exploring something strange and new. Her hands shook nearly uncontrollably from the odd excitement she felt running through her body. Not much longer now Kalina. Not much longer. "...Life is a story that is waiting to be written. The Shivering Woods would be a place of intrigue and danger no doubt, his senses had to be in top shape to not be taken by surprise. Kalina did not seem she was much of a physical person so he would have to be on guard for the both of them.
"Well M'Lady, a lovely morn is it not? I do hope we make it to the Shivering Woods quickly, do you know how far it is away?" Sephariath kept pace with Kalina so he did not burden her and slow the two of them down at all. His hand rested on the hilt of his blade even in the calm daylight.....one could never be too sure.
