Title: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 18, 2003, 12:35:22 PM As you move further away from the village center and its four protruding forks, you notice neat rows of thatched roof cottages that were quite similar in appearance -- the approaching area is seemingly one of residential nature. It looked to be more of a well-off neighbourhood as well, and was probably the wealthiest section of the village apart from the Lord's abode.
As you took the left turn at the fork in the road, you arrived at a row of almost identical cottages, but one seemed to stand out. It was a little more beaten down than the others on the same row. It's surroundings were neat, but the upkeep of the cottage itself seemed to be of a poorly nature. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 22, 2003, 02:17:22 AM @Ariel, Mina & Kiushapo:
Taking the left turn upon reaching the fork in the road with Elric at the lead, the four head down the street with its neat rows of simliar looking cottages. Glancing four to five peds down the street, one particular cottage stands out amongst the uniform look of the others. It was hard to explain why the cottage stood out ... it just ... did. Sauntering down the street, Elric let out a loud shout as his foot hit a big rock on the street. Elric was a charming young man, if a little clumsy, as Ariel, Mina and Kiushapo would have noticed along the way -- Elric seemingly bumped into anything and everyone possible. Bending down muttering, Elric started to take off his boots to make sure his sore throbbing toe was alright. Just at that very moment, you notice a cloaked figure seemingly exiting from the cottage that stood out down the street -- it was hard to tell glancing at such a distance away. The figure had a hurried gait, exiting the cottage and making a hasty turn towards the rear of the long row of cottages, his figure disappearing into the tight rows of shadows. That would not have been a concern at all, a hasty figure in a neighbourhood, except that you notice the figure held a chrome coloured staff as it made its hasty vanish. As the figure moved out of sight, Elric stood up again, having put his boots back on and ascertained that his toe was fine. Pointing towards the cottage that stood out, Elric spoke to the other three, "There, there's where My Love lives. The cottage right before it is where Jothia the healer lives." Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Mina on December 22, 2003, 02:08:22 AM That didn't really answer my question Mina thought as Elric rambled on about his lover Nothing about what you plan to do in the Woods, or why you want to go there in the first place. I guess we'll have to find out ourselves.
Elric was a clumsy one, Mina noticed as she walked behind him. Very clumsy. He was bumping into just about everyone. How did he become a Guard in the first place? As she continued walking, Mina started going through the information she had gather so far. The old man at the tavern seemed to be their best lead so far, since he was apparently a companion of the princess when she disappeared. A while later, Mina realised something. The princess! We don't even know what she looks like! How are we going to know it's her even if we find her? Mina was about to ask Elric about it when she noticed a cloaked figure hastily exit one of the cottages, which for some reason seemed to stand out from the others, and disappear into the shadows. She would not normally have been concerned with such an occurrance---they were rather common afterall---but it seemed, though she was not certain, that the figure was holding a chrome staff. The old man! And the cottage happened to belong to Elric's lover too. It was too late to go after the old man now, but perhaps she could get some information from Elric, and maybe his lover as well. "Elric," she asked, "Do you happen to know of an old man who accompanied the princess when she disappeared?" After just a short walk they came upon a “wealthier” part of town. The houses appeared to be in great shape, and the people around this area dressed well. Ariel seemingly enjoyed the village, besides from the arguing, threats and such. Though she didn’t let that bother her, she kept her head high and was very mindful of the surrounding neighbourhood.
Ariel couldn’t help but snicker when she saw Elric falling and stumbling EVERYWHERE. ‘Now how did Elric come to being a guard?’ She thought to herself. Slowly shaking her head at the sight of Elric grabbing his foot when he stubbed it, Ariel kept her mouth shut though she did wish to say something to Elric. She didn’t wish to be rude... Walking silently still Ariel noticed something, an elderly man with a staff ran across the street and disappeared in an ally. 'Was that the elderly man that everyone is looking for?’ Ariel had now seen both men that the guards were after, but wasn’t sure if anyone else saw him. Glancing at Mina and then at Kiushapo, Ariel took note that it seemed like both of them saw the elderly man. Not wanting to give him away to Elric, Ariel said not a word. Though Mina broke the silence and began to ask Elric a question. "Elric, do you happen to know of an old man who accompanied the princess when she disappeared?" Ariel wondered the same thing; she also wondered what was Elric’s plan and whatnot. She had no idea what she was getting into. “Elric, could you please tell us what your plan is exactly? We’ve been following you for some time now and you have yet to tell us anything...” Ariel followed quietly waiting for a responce... ![]() Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Kiushapo on December 23, 2003, 05:50:22 AM As the group made its way down the street, Kiushapo made sure to stay away from Elric, from the way the man was bumping into things he wouldn't be surprised if he knocked down one of the booths lining the street.
As they neared the cottage, Elric cried out and began to explain something, pointing out two cottages, but the man hurrying down the street caught his attention. From what he could remember, the old man that had scurried out of the tavern when he first arrived had had a staff like that. As the man disappeared into the shadows, he heard Mina speaking, "Elric, do you happen to know of an old man who accompanied the princess when she disappeared?" And then Ariel “Elric, could you please tell us what your plan is exactly? We’ve been following you and you have yet to tell us...” Nodding, he gestured for the group to continue with the questions, "I will just be visiting the healer for a moment, a bandage is all I am needing." Setting off at a brisk pace, he approached the cottage Elric had pointed out, knocking loudly on the door. Simple answers to life's questioning. We’ve been following you for some time now and you have yet to tell us anything...” Elric watched as Kiushapo strode towards the healer's cottage. Turning back first to Mina, he spoke, "An old man? There were lots of aged officials of the court in the Prince and Princess' entourage when they arrived seven years ago. But, if you meant when the Princess disappeared into the woods, then no, nobody was with her, except the guards that escorted the Prince and Princess around for their safety, but they were left behind when the Prince and Princess entered the woods. I don't remember any aged man among the guards." Turning to Ariel, Elric spoke again, this time with a sad smile on his face, "Ah ... come, we shall go into the cottage to meet My Love. Then all will be revealed." Elric gestured towards the two of them to follow as they made their way to the cottage that stood out. Knocking softly on the door, Elric spoke out, "Tis me, Elric!" After a brief moment, the door slowly creaked open towards the inside, revealing the tall shapely curves of a young woman looking warily at Ariel and Mina. The young woman's eyes were shone of the green of emeralds, and her shoulder length curls were of a flaming ruby red. Arriving at a sturdy wooden door, Kiushapo knocked loudly on it, his knocks seemingly reverberating in an echo around him. After a brief moment of waiting, loud coughing could be heard on the other side of the door, before the door swang open. A middle-aged woman clad in a dark brown shawl appeared at the door with a walking stick. Wrinkles and lines on her face spoke of her years through the ages. Holding a frail wrinkled hand to her mouth and coughing a little more, she finally cleared her throat and greeted Kiushapo, "Good day ... young man ..." she didn't notice Kiushapo's pointed ears covered by his blonde locks, "What brings you here today?" Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Kiushapo on December 24, 2003, 05:43:22 AM Kiushapo smiled at the aged woman quite amused at being called 'young man'. His cut was itching fiercely now that he was thinking about it again, so he decided to get right to the point, "If you are being the healer, I am needing your expert skills madam." Gesturing to his chest, he unbuttoned his vest so she could see "Whatever you can be doing for it would be much appreciated." As he stood there, he suddenly remembered he had no money! Silently cursing himself, he changed his smile to a more charming one, he hoped, "There is being a small matter though, I am embarrassed to be saying I am having no money to be paying you. Perhaps we can be working something else out?" As he tried to think of someway to pay her, he ran a hand through his hair, revealing his elven ears.

Everything about her seemed to stand out to Ariel. The prince and princess entered the Woods by themselves. Why? And if the prince was there too when the princess disappeared, why doesn't anyone know what happened?
The three of them then made their way to the cottage. Elric knocked softly on the door, and, a moment later, a young woman opened. She was very beautiful, with emerald eyes and ruby-coloured hair. "If you are being the healer, I am needing your expert skills madam." The old woman coughed again, and smiled wryly, "Ah, yes, Jothia the healer, that's who i am, yes." As Kiushapo unbuttoned his vest to show her his wound, she squinted, and then frowned, "Oh dear my boy ... that's a shallow wound, but ... made by a blade was it? The blade must have been rusty, you are in for a nasty infection ..." Jothia was overtaken by another bout of coughing, and then she slowly pushed opened the door wider, "Come in, come in." and gestured for Kiushapo to step in. "There is being a small matter though, I am embarrassed to be saying I am having no money to be paying you. Perhaps we can be working something else out?" Jothia half-coughed and half-chuckled, "Ah, my boy, that's alright ... i've come to realize that health and not wealth, is what one should treasure most. I'm a healer, but yet look me, unable to cure the disease that is eating away at myself ..." Jothia coughed repeatedly again, "Now come in, we should be taking care of your wound." The interior of the cottage was sparse and austere. A thick cloud of odd smells of various kinds of herbs permeated the whole inside of the cottage. Gesturing towards a stool, Jothia sat Kiushapo down, and produced a small jar of what seemed to be light green paste. Slowly, she carefully dabbed some of the paste into Kiushapo's wound, coughing every now and then. "So my boy, you don't seem to be around here, or i would have seen you before ... what brings you to Eresh? What would bring an Elven kind to Eresh, of all places? And you speak oddly for an elf too." Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 24, 2003, 02:11:22 PM @Mina & Ariel:
The beautiful woman at the door stared at Mina and Ariel, "Elric, wh..what ... who ..." Elric spoke back bubbly, "They are friends, My Love, they have offered to help our cause!" The crimson-haired woman looked suspiciously at Ariel and Mina, "Wh..what have you told them?" Elric smiled reassuringly towards her as he gestured towards both Mina and Ariel, "This is Lady Mina, and this is Lady Ariel. Lady Mina's companion, Kiushapo, is next door with Jothia, but should join us soon. Lady Mina, Lady Ariel, this is Arialle, the love of my life." His voice had a dreamy quality to them as he spoke out Arialle's name. Elric gazed lovingly at Arialle, "My Love, they will help us recover the Princess! And then you will not need to be wed to Gavrin!" Suddenly, an old, frail female voice sounded from within the cottage, "Arialle? Who is that at the door?" Arialle turned her head back, "It's Elric mother. He brought ... friends." her voice was sweet and melodious. The frail voice sounded out again, "Then why don't you invite them in dear?" Arialle swung the front door wide open. "An honour to make your acquaintance, Lady Ariel, Lady Mina. Please, if you are indeed committed to helping our cause, do come in." The interior of the cottage was dark. As you step in. You see the figure of a thin, frail aged woman standing at a corner. There were chairs and tables in the middle of the main room, which Elric motioned for both Ariel and Mina to take a seat. Arialle and Elric both took a seat at the table too. Looking from Mina and Ariel and back again, Arialle spoke, "Why would you want to help us, Lady Mina, Lady Ariel?" As Eve made a right turn and made her way down the pebbled right path, rows and rows of almost identical cottages were passed by on her left. There seemed to be no end to the fairly straight path, and under the hot sun, walking down a row of similar cottages wasn't exactly the most exciting thing to do. A middle aged man with unkempt hair and a fairly lanky build walked up the opposite direction on the path. As he approached Eve, he suddenly stopped abruptly in midway, his eyes widening, the lines at the corner of his mouth gradually forming an expression of anger, the lines of muscle in his neck tensed and bulging. At the top of his lungs, he started shouting at Eve, "You!! You killed him!! You killed him! Give me my boy back!! Give me my boy back!!!" She followed Arialle and Elric into the room, and took a seat at the table. Arialle spoke first, asking why they wanted to help her and Elric, to which Mina replied, "My companion and I were thinking of heading into the Woods when we overheard Elric speaking of doing the same. We thought that the more people we had travelling with us, the safer it would be." She then continued, "However, we do not yet know what plans you have in mind." Turning to Elric, she asked, "You spoke of finding the princess, which is the reason my companion and I have come to Eresh. How do you intend to do so? Do you perhaps have some information concerning her whereabouts?" A moment later, she suddenly spoke up again. "Oh yes, speaking of the princess, do either of you know what she looks like?         “Why would you want to help us, Lady Mina, Lady Ariel?” A question escaped from Arialle’s mouth. It’s just what I believe in...” Her smile seemed to get a tiny bit smaller, as she continued to converse. “...I know the feeling of loss, and it’s not something I wish for other people to experience, I guess that’s why I’m here.” Her smile gradually faded, and Ariel become silent once again... ![]() Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on December 25, 2003, 09:12:22 AM @Ariel & Mina:
Arialle listened expressionless as Mina and Ariel spoke. Her smooth chiselled face had a soft glow to it, her emerald eyes sparkling fiercely. She was a beauty by any standards. She spoke first to Ariel, her sweet yet sharp voice tinged with suspicion, "Would anyone really help another without motive or gain in it for themselves?" Leaving the question unanswered, she turned to Mina, "And you and your companion are looking for the Princess as well, i see ..." As Arialle paused briefly for thought, Mina turned to ask Elric a question, "You spoke of finding the princess, which is the reason my companion and I have come to Eresh. How do you intend to do so? Do you perhaps have some information concerning her whereabouts?" Elric stared down at the table and shuffled his feet under the table awkwardly, "Well ... I wasn't really ... haven't really ... been planning to go into the woods all along ... so ... no, i don't have a plan, it was ... just decided this morning." Feeling embaressed, he tried to sound spirited, "But! I know someone who can help us. Lieutanent Dorrum at my outpost. He has been around the woods all these seven years, and he has probably mourned for the Princess as much as the royal family has ..." He shifted in his seat, "We shall meet him, and you shall see, he is wise, and would be of much help to us." Elric nodded continuously. "Oh yes, speaking of the princess, do either of you know what she looks like? I just realised that I've been trying to find her without knowing a thing about her appearance." Arialle seemed to shift uncomfortably at that question. Elric made a quick glance towards Arialle, and then stammered a little, "W..Well, the princess has b..blonde hair, l..light green eyes, and a dimple on the right cheek. I have only s..seen her once. But that was when s..she was a young girl of 8." An uncomfortable silence fell between Arialle and Elric as Elric stopped speaking. The look on both Elric and Arialle's faces were grim. "I suppose i should be thankful that i may not live that long to see that dark day come. Mark my words my boy, there's more to the disappearance of the Princess than Arvin or his servants, or even enemies of the kingdom." She peered into Kiushapo's eyes, "The enemy is within the kingdom." Jothia sighed again. Just then, the figure that was by the dark shadow of the corner hobbled out. It was the figure of a lithe, middle-aged woman, her dirty blonde hair tied neatly up in a bun, but what struck out was her milky white eyes, almost as if a thin film covered her eyes, her iris was not visible at all. Her head faced straight forward looking towards the front door, but it seemed that she was rasping out at the little group that was gathered at the table, "A secret?! A secret??!! No, it was a shame!! A shame!!!" She was visibly very emotional and upset. Arialle left her seat and gently held on towards the woman, directing her to the last empty chair at the table and helped sat her down. It was evident that the woman was blind. "Mother, please." As she tried to soothe and calm her mother. At this point, Elric took over, and spoke to all who gathered at the table. "It is no secret." He clenched his fists tightly on the table. "Only a secret to those who feel ashamed! My dear Arialle's mother, was a consort of King Aprag. Arialle was born into court after Prince Viginold, and was much loved by the King. Three years later, the Princess Nalaere was born. That was when all the trouble began." Arialle spoke as she comforted her mother, who was upset and shaking, "When my sister ... or rather, half-sister, was born, the Queen grew hatred for me. My mother was a mere commoner, yet i had the features of the royal bloodline. Alas, for reasons all of us did not know, my sister did not. She was born blonde of hair instead of crimson red, and her eyes were more greyish-green than deep emerald green." She shook her head forlornly, "My father ... the King, doted on me, but less so of Nalaere. This angered the Queen, and one day, out of sheer hatred and anger, she blinded my mother." Arialle briefly swallowed and wetted her lips before continuing, "The King did not want further harm to come to either of us, and he secretly spirited us away to Eresh, a place where he thought no one would sought to look. In my absence, the King doted upon my sister, and all was well. That was until my sister and my brother came here seven years ago, and who would have known that of all the places in the Kingdom, they would choose to come here? But when my sister was lost, it grieved my father so much that it has been said he is gradually losing his mind." It was too risky, she thought. Fortunately, it seemed the gamble paid off. Rather than getting defensive, Arialle chose to reveal her background.
Mina decided that she would take this opportunity to ask some questions herself. "Well, since you were here when the princess disappeared, could you tell us what happened at that time? Elric told me that the prince and princess entered the Woods alone, with no guards. I'm quite curious as to why they did this, and why so little is known of what happened to the princess if the prince was with her when she disappeard." Pausing for a moment, she then continued with her next question, "Also, I noticed an elderly man leaving this cottage just before we arrived. He appears to be the same one I had seen at the tavern yesterday, being persued by some Guards led by an elven knight named Valannia. Who exactly is he, and why are they looking for him?" With nothing to say, his thoughts drifted to the information they had already obtained. All he had wanted to do in the beginning was go to the woods and check things out, but each new clue had made him wonder more about what was actually going on. How had the prince managed to escape? Who exactly were these people in the woods? Why capture the princess in the first place, and then why shut up about it, it didn't make for a very good ransom plan.

I'm quite curious as to why they did this, and why so little is known of what happened to the princess if the prince was with her when she disappeard." Elric nodded at Arialle as if to confirm that he did indeed tell Mina as such. Arialle sighed a long drawn sigh before speaking again. "I was merely a young girl of 14 when the unfortunate incident happened, Lady Mina. My mother and I heard of the incident later from the village people, and we know not more nor less than the village people you see here. We have shunned the royalty ever since being moved here, and needless to say, we have not returned to Caelum since then, and i have not seen the King or any member of the royal family for years." Elric gave Arialle a warm squeeze on her palm as if in comfort, and Arialle's mother's countenance was stern, almost painful, at the mention of the King. Mina's next question caught Arialle by surprise. "Also, I noticed an elderly man leaving this cottage just before we arrived. He appears to be the same one I had seen at the tavern yesterday, being persued by some Guards led by an elven knight named Valannia. Who exactly is he, and why are they looking for him?" Arialle stiffened in her seat. "What elderly man are you talking about, Lady Mina? I know of no such man, my mother and I were busy at our looms until Elric arrived. And i know not about the guards and their affairs." She shrugged slightly. Elric look oddly at Mina, wondering why she would ask such a strange question. "I have heard of a Lieutanent Valannia that has been sent by the Prince to confer with Captain Gavrin, but i know not about what." Glancing quickly at Ariel, Kiushapo and Mina, he spoke again, in an energetic tone, "But come, my friends, the hour is getting no earlier, and we should leave for the camps soon. You are all still ... keen on helping myself and my love in seeking out the Princess in the woods, yes?" Ariel, Mina & Kiu, as long as two of you post with agreement to go with Elric to the camps, then the plot can move along with Elric. Evelaria looked up at the woman who approached and thought, Oh, great more trouble?. She stood up and helped the man fully to his feet and then glanced over at the woman once again. "I am fine, truly I am. He just thought that I killed his son and well, yeah. That is pretty much it...I suppose everything is fine now, ma'am. ((OOC: NP! Holidays and all ... who would have known? ![]() The woman looked appreciatively at Eve as Eve helped her husband to his feet. Torval, meanwhile, had started to shake and convulse slightly, and his eyes were glazed as if he was lost in another world. "I am fine, truly I am. He just thought that I killed his son and well, yeah. That is pretty much it...I suppose everything is fine now, ma'am. I should really be going now...I was given an urgent message by a Seer." The woman nodded towards Eve in understanding, "You are very kind, Milady. Unfortunately," she looked towards her husband forlornly, who was now seemingly frothing at the corner of his mouth, "Torval ... lost his mind when our son was killed when he was directed to go into the woods a few years ago ... the missing princess and all ..." The woman sighed heavily, "And now, our other son, his twin brother, is still under the service of the Royal Guard, he's at the main encampment, you know. After his brother was ... killed, we implored him to leave the service and the woods, but he was stout in his opinion that he could make a difference ..." She shook her head sadly. "I trek to the main encampment once or twice a week, to bring him some food from home, and advise him to leave, but it's of no avail ..." Clearing her throat a little, she turned to Eve apologectically, "Oh dear, Milady, i'm sorry to trouble you with our troubles ... don't let me ramble on like that again. And what ... what was this urgent message you were saying? About a seer?" Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Evelaria on January 01, 2004, 05:08:22 PM ((I decided to change colors...maybe this will be easier to see))
Eve listened to the woman's words. She would probably go to speak with the woman's son later on. This mystery about the princess was beginning to become a larger part of Eve's day as she went on. She looked at the man as he began to convulse and her eyes widened. He was obviously a man who had lost his mind, as his wife had confirmed. She let go of him and turned to face the wife fully. "Well, MiLady, this woman...blind I believe...was having convulsions similar to those of your husband. She kept muttering things to me. Things about righting the wrong and about the Princess. I am confused as to why the Princess must be found. Perhaps you could fill me in on the information regarding the young woman?" Eve moved towards the woman, leaving her husband to deal with his own mind. She didn't like to meddle with those she thought was insane or close to it. ((OOC: Ooohh ... interesting colour!)) The woman stroked her husband's arm soothingly to comfort him, and he gradually fell silent and obediently stood there motionless without saying a further word. I am confused as to why the Princess must be found. Perhaps you could fill me in on the information regarding the young woman?" The woman cocked an eyebrow, "Blind? Madame Merawal, eh? No, no, she's not blind ... she lost one eye several years ago, but some say her single eye changed from brown to violet, and it gives her great powers in seeing the past and future."She spoke in a very reverent tone. "But what's this about righting some kind of wrong? The Princess has disappeared for years, the poor soul ..." she sighed, "We don't know much about the Princess, us common people, only that the King has been gradually going mad because of his grief at her loss ... or so we hear. I don't know why the Prince has suddenly sent hordes of guards to the woods now ... that all should have been done 7 years ago ...if you ask me ... Evelaria took in what the woman said as she always did. She was a great listener, one of the many aspects of this fine warrior. "Madame Merawal? A Seer? Has she ever spoken of visions about the Princess?" she asked, repeating what she had already called the woman. "But what's this about righting some kind of wrong? The Princess has disappeared for years, the poor soul ..." she sighed, "We don't know much about the Princess, us common people, only that the King has been gradually going mad because of his grief at her loss ... or so we hear. "Why would he wait so long to finally search out the princess? Perhaps...no never mind," she said. She was about to say that perhaps the King wanted the Princess to be dead. Perhaps she knew something he wanted to keep from her? "But anyway, Milady, i must be making my way home and to the woods before the hour gets too late ... Tis the day i visit my other son at the encampment ... perhaps ... you would like to come along, Milady?" Eve smiled at the woman's invitation. She had planned to visit the young man anyhow. "Of course I would love to travel with you. Shall we go to your home first? Or shall we make our way to your son? Ma'am, how long has your son been at the encampment?" "Madame Merawal? A Seer? Has she ever spoken of visions about the Princess?" The woman frowned a little, "Well ... i don't know ... people don't usually go asking Madame Merawal about the Princess ..." Eve's next question made the woman sigh again. "Why would he wait so long to finally search out the princess? Perhaps...no never mind," "We don't know, we don't know. The King loves the Princess so much, i'm sure he would have done whatever he could to save the Princess ... I'm sure the King himself would have gone into the woods himself if his health and age permitted him to do so ... " The old woman looked ponderously towards the sky, and then broke into a warm smile when Eve next spoke. "Of course I would love to travel with you. Shall we go to your home first? Or shall we make our way to your son? Ma'am, how long has your son been at the encampment?" "Oh! That would be lovely, my dear! I always like company when i'm making my way to the woods ... Old Jothia is ill today, you know, the healer, and she usually accompanies me to see my son. We'll just send old Torvald here off," she looked lovingly at her husband, who was now grinning from ear to ear at Eve like he had been given a sack of gold, "and then we should make our way to the woods so it won't be too late when we arrive at the encampment. He's been there for six years or so, my son, he knows the woods pretty well ..." And so Eve and the couple walked back to their house, a little cottage at the end of the street, and after the woman had made sure her husband was safely tucked into bed, she grabbed another heavy shawl, a basket of goods and headed with Eve towards the direction of the woods. @Ryldor: ((OOC: Although the thread is titled the Weaver's Cottage, Ryldor is currently not in the weaver's cottage, but somewhere else -- around the vicinity of the weaver's cottage area -- which will be revealed as the posts go along. )) Ryldor woke up with a jolt as a pungent smell of herbs invaded his nostrils. There was a slight throbbing ache in his head, and his vision was a little blurred when he attempted to open his eyes. But as the cloudiness of his sight cleared, Ryldor could make out that he was in a small room, with a single source of candle light from one corner of the room. He was seated (or slumped, rather) on a rather uncomfortable rickety feeling chair. Seated to his left was the veiled and hooded mystery woman, looking at him intently. To his right, stood a frail-looking woman, her face fraught with lines and wrinkles, also looking at Ryldor curiously. The mystery woman spoke first, to Ryldor, "Are you alright?" "Khi…" was the first thing Ryldor said as he came out of the haze and saw the hooded woman. Realizing he was wrong, he shook his head to clear it before looking over the room more carefully. Two women. I really have to start making my requests more specific. He sat up straighter in the chair and decided he needed to know what he was up against. With no attempt to hide what he was doing, he summoned his energy and said "Erí’Cár’áll" in an attempt to determine if the women were magic users and if they were, how strong.

![]() It was hard to tell whether the mystery woman was smiling behind her dark veil, but it certainly felt so. Seeing Ryldor uttering a word, followed by several other words, her voice, although still muffled, took on a light, more cheerful tone, "Ah, so you have come to. And indeed you are no merchant." It was clear to both women in the dark room that Ryldor was casting a spell, and the old woman started taking on an expression of apprehensiveness, but the mystery woman seemed relaxed and confident that Ryldor was not casting a spell to harm then. The mystery woman reassured the old woman with a series of brief gestures. Ryldor's spell indicated to him that the mystery woman was youthful and strong, while the old woman was frail and dying. Both were revealed to be non-magic users. The mystery woman then inched closer towards Ryldor, and swiftly removed her hood, then her veil. It was the baroness. This time her smile was visible. It was a soft, gentle smile, but one which was determined, and purposeful. "We meet again, Ryldor." She ran her eyes up and down Ryldor, as if trying to discern every nook and cranny that formed the elf called "Ryldor". "You have questions, i know, if not many. But first, we would like some answers from you, which i'm sure you will not mind parting with." Lady Rivya flashed Ryldor another scintillating smile, "You are no merchant, that is obvious. Why are you here? Are you here under the Prince's orders? Tell us who you are ... in your entirety." Hold me. Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. "Why didn't you tell me it was you? I would have come willingly."
As he listened to the questions posed to him, his expression hardened. Hmmm. Compliant? Refusing? Obstinate? Insulted? Making his choice he began. "This is incredulous. I've been assaulted and brought here against my will and you demand answers that I would easily have given had I simply been asked. Is this how the people of Eresh deal with one another? Maybe the Princess has been answering questions for the last seven years." He slumped back in his chair as if resigned. "I came to you with an offer. A good offer. One that could have enriched both of us." He straightened in his chair again, hoping to project a newfound resolve. "I'm the one who's been attacked… twice now. You'll get answers to your questions when you explain your actions… in its entirety."
Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on January 25, 2004, 12:05:22 AM Lady Rivya held gloved fingers to her lips, and smiled dazzlingly, unperturbed by Ryldor's words and "outburst". Lady Rivya turned towards the old woman standing by her, and spoke in a pleasant, comforted tone, "My judgement has not failed me." As she looked approvingly at Ryldor. The old woman merely nodded, waiting for Rivya to speak.
Lady Rivya again turned to face Ryldor, still smiling, ever the cultured baronness with finesse and genteel. "Answers you will receive, but there is much to tell, and time is not on our side. You will get answers, some now, some ... along the way." She winked affectionately at Ryldor, and continued on, "You know who i am, we have already been acquainted." She gestured towards the old woman who was gazing at Ryldor critically, "This, is Jothia." The old woman made no motion to move towards Ryldor in introduction. "Unfortunately, the Princess may or may not be answering questions for the past seven years, like you said. Your loyalties do not lie with the Prince nor the royal family or nobility, and you are not a mere simple merchant, but you are well skilled and ... certainly know how to take care of yourself." Rivya caressed her fingers, "To ... cut to the chase. We suspect the Prince has a part in the disappearance of the Princess. We suspect that Sir Olpeg," she added with dripping sarcasm, "my dearest husband, knows of this and has either assisted the Prince or was part of the reason for the Princess' disappearance as well. The Prince will be arriving in Eresh in a couple of days, as i'm sure you would have heard. We have reason to believe that the Prince is arriving to ... shall we say, tie up some loose ends that he ... not so wisely left astray seven years ago. We fear that if he does so, all chances of finding out what happened to the Princess and maybe even recovering her to safety, will then be lost." Rivya took a pause, and purred affectionately at Ryldor while looking him intently in the eye. "You, Ryldor dear, must help us. Or, you will be in grave danger." Hold me. Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Ryldor Gadriel on January 28, 2004, 12:22:22 PM "…grave danger."After the baroness finished, Ryldor stood and paced around the room, ignoring the women. Why do I keep doing this to myself? It happens every time and still I don't learn. They're probably just playing me. This is it. I'm just going to say "no" and be on my way. He turned back and found Lady Rivya's piercing green eyes upon him. Umm… I guess it'd be rude to just walk out on them. They might really need my help. Besides I'll never become a lord if I walk away from every challenge.
Ryldor walked over the Lady Riyva and place his hands on her shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze. "Of course I'll help you. You always had only to ask." He pulled away and clapped his hands together and said., "But I still have a few questions. Why am I in danger? And why would the Prince want to make his sister disappear?" Finally he turned to Jothia. "And what is your role in all of this?
Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on January 29, 2004, 10:00:22 AM The two women watched Ryldor intently as he paced around the room, unsure of what he was going to do, but not taking any steps to restrain him. When he finally stopped, they still had their eyes trained on him.
"Of course I'll help you. You always had only to ask." Lady Rivya flashed a warm, brilliant smile at Ryldor as he squeezed her shoulder. "And i apologize for our ... method of asking, Ryldor, dear, but you must understand our ... predicament." She took two quick steps towards Jothia, her movements graceful and agile, quite unlike that of a pampered noble woman while dining with Ryldor earlier in the evening. "But I still have a few questions. Why am I in danger? And why would the Prince want to make his sister disappear?" Finally Ryldor turned to Jothia, "And what is your role in all of this?" It was again Lady Rivya who spoke, "Why Ryldor, you would be in grave danger because we would kill you, of course." Lady Rivya chuckled heartily, and it wasn't clear whether she was merely jesting, or if she was really serious about killing Ryldor. After recovering from her little spurt of light-hearted laughter, Lady Rivya spoke up again, this time with a clearly serious tone, "We are not exactly certain, Ryldor, why the Prince would do such an evil thing. But we suspect that he is trying to protect his claim to the throne. You see, King Aprag loved Princess Nalaere deeply. There was much speculation that he would relegate the throne to Princess Nalaere after he stepped down and not to Prince Viginold as has been the tradition for generations. The King also had another daughter which he loved dearly as well, before Nalaere was born, but this first daughter was not a child of the Queen, but a favoured consort of the King. Prince Viginold was never much favoured by the King. When Nalaere disappeared, Prince Viginold started consolidating authority and power with the powerful officials in court, and gathering military strength as well. With the King slipping into senility, it was an easy task. Now the Prince has near absolute authority, and if the Princess was to be found again, and indeed, reveal the Prince's evil deeds, that would probably sway much of the court elders and officials' support against him." Jothia shrugged slightly as Ryldor mentioned her. Her voice was frail, crackly, but it had a sharp, dangerous edge to it, and when she spoke it gave one the feeling that one was choked at the throat, "I am ... was, the nursemaid of the first Princess. I want to see justice done, and shame brought to the the royal family for their misdeeds." Hold me. Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Ryldor Gadriel on January 30, 2004, 06:55:22 AM "Hmmm… If the Prince is heading here himself, it probably means the Princess is still alive. I doubt he'd travel all the way if there weren't a legitimate threat to his power." Ryldor paced a few more seconds before he turned to baroness and said "You do realize that your husband might be one of the loose ends the Prince is coming to tie up. He may be in danger." Not that I'd mind so much, the elf thought as he admired the Lady Rivya's looks once more
Turning to the former nursemaid, "I have to ask. Is it possible the Princess wanted to disappear? Can you think of anything that would have made choose to vanish?" Ryldor paced a little more, a dull ache reminding him that he hadn't finished healing his leg. I think I'd better be a full strength. He sat in the rickety chair again, but spoke to the women again before casting. "We have little time left. If Sir Olpeg was involved, the quickest way to find out what happened is to get it from him. You know him best lady Rivya. Can you think of a way to get the information out of him? Is he the type to keep everything in his head, or would he have something written somewhere?" As he waited for an answer, he started the healing spell.

Lady Rivya chuckled again, the sound of tinkling bells, seemingly enjoying watching Ryldor's pacing strides, "Ryldor, dear, that is the least of our problem right now. Those who trifle with danger, will find themselves consumed within it." Jothia's expression and demeanour was as morose as Lady Rivya's light-hearted and charming. She gritted her teeth as Ryldor asked her about the Princess, "Disappear? Vanish?!" She rasped in disbelief, "Princess Nalaere was dearly loved by all. If it was not for that scoundrel Viginold, she would never have approached the woods for any reason in the first place!" She muttered under her breath, to no one in particular, "It will be as prophesized, the Kyranian Kingdom will fall! How could it not, in the hands of such bloodthirsty ruthless men!" Lady Rivya stepped closer to Ryldor as he started healing his leg, watching in quiet fascination. "We have little time left. Lady Rivya smiled, gently running a finger lightly on Ryldor's leg, "You are right that we have little time. We are expecting the Prince to be arriving tomorrow after noonday." She paused, then continue, lifting her finger and stroking her hair, "I have tried my best to find out what my darling husband knows. He knows much of the things that don't matter, and too little of things that do. But, being in his position has allowed me ... shall we say, access to certain channels of ... information and ... service." Lady Rivya smiled secretively, and reached out a folded letter from within the folds of her supple bosom, handing it to Ryldor, "This is a sealed letter addressed to the Prince. Recently he delegated a ... task to Olpeg. The Prince seems extremely anxious in his trip, and he has declined our offer for a dinner in his honour, and will instead head straight to meet with Captain Gavrin at the main encampment upon arrival. You will travel to the main encampment tomorrow, an escort of the Princess Arialle, and you will have an audience with the Prince and hand him this letter. Princess Arialle will brief you further on the way to the woods tomorrow. Now, you, and both of us must rest. I suggest you stay away from the Rusik and Bretha's henchmen. You may spend the night here, in Jothia's cottage, she has prepared a room for you." Lady Rivya placed a smooth, soft palm atop of Ryldor's, an alluring smile lit up on her face, "Any questions?" Ryldor asked with a chuckle. "Only about a hundred. Why don't we just open the letter and see what is says? How does Olpeg think this letter is getting to the Prince? Who is Princess Arialle? Won't she realize that I'm not actually her escort? What am I supposed to do once I get into the woods?" Ryldor thought about asking more, but opted to sleep instead.
After his questions were answered, he made his way to the room Jothia prepared and slept.
Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Khiera Meneris on February 03, 2004, 08:21:22 AM Jothia was starting to show a tinge of annoyance on her face when Ryldor started to direct a whole new slew of questions at Lady Rivya. But Lady Rivya merely smiled, almost benevolently, replying to Ryldor in a leisurely tone.
"The letter must not be opened of course, because it is forged. So is the seal. The seal must remain unbroken to render the letter ... authenticity." She chuckled, a light tinkling laugh, "Sir Olpeg, for all his loyalty and wits, is not one would call a bright man. You shall be ... disguised in the morning before setting out for the woods. I trust it will be sufficiently adequate to conceal your identity. Princess Arialle is the eldest Princess, the daughter of the King's favoured consort. Both mother and daughter were sent to Eresh out of harm's way from a Queen murderous with hatred and envy. There will be swift steeds from Captain Gavrin of the Royal Guards for you and Princess Arialle tomorrow morning. Do not worry about the situation at the encampment, i will have the necessary arrangements made for them to be expecting your arrival. Princess Arialle will brief on you on the rest and what must be done in the morning, before you leave for the encampment. She will hardly be surprised to see you, she knows all." Lady Rivya smiled once more, blowing a soft kiss towards Ryldor, "And now, Ryldor, dear, you should be getting some good rest. It will certainly be quite a day for you tomorrow. Needless to say, we are extremely appreciative and grateful for your consent and help." The time for this plot thread is currently 7 Bells, Day 3. At the break of dawn Ryldor was awoken by Jothia, the expression on her face rested, and more kindly than the previous night. Both elf and old woman dined on a simple breakfast without much exchange of words or talk. Then Jothia handed Ryldor two flesh coloured bits of soft putty, which she explained should be smoothed over the pointed ends of Ryldor's ears, to mask the fact that Ryldor was an elf. A sliver of what seemed to be dark hair was also produced by Jothia, and carefully smoothed over Ryldor's upper lip with strong paste, and now Ryldor was a tall, handsome human with a stiff moustache. Then Jothia reminded Ryldor to keep the letter that Lady Rivya had handed to him the night before, bade him good luck, and gave him instructions to proceed, "The steeds and the accompanying guards from the Captain will be arriving soon. Head over to the cottage next door on your right. Knock five curt knocks on the door, announce your full name and say that you are Lady Arialle's escort just arrived from Ximax. The princess will know what to do then." Hold me. Edited by: Khiera at: 2/3/04 0:22Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Ryldor Gadriel on February 05, 2004, 04:53:22 AM Ryldor opened his eyes slowly, hoping that the last two days had been some sort of ale induced dream. No such luck. Fortunately, Jothia seemed to have warmed up a little, and though breakfast was mostly silent, the animosity he'd felt the previous night was gone. He sat patiently as the old woman applied the disguise.
Checking that the letter was secure in his pocket, he left Jothia's and approached the correct cottage. He knocked five times and said loudly, "This is Ryldor Gadriel, Princess Arialle's escort, arriving from Ximax."

There was a brief, pregnant pause which seemed that nothing stirred in the early hours of the morning, and Ryldor was about to knock the door and announce his name once more when the front door of the cottage creaked open. A pair of brilliant emerald eyes were upon him. It was a young, tall shapely woman clad in travelling garb, her luscious crimson curls framing exquisite features. She peered uncertainly at Ryldor, "You are ... Ryldor Gadriel?" and then her gaze fell momentarily on the stiff moustache that adorned Ryldor's upper lips, and gave a slight smile, "Jothia never seems to run out of those," referring to the moustache, " ... then you are indeed Ryldor Gadriel, you have my gratitude for consenting to aid us." She gave Ryldor a dainty curtsy, "I am no Princess ... not anymore. Please, just address me as Lady Arialle in the presence of others." She quietly stepped out of the cottage, and locked the door behind her. Looking around her to make sure no one was around, Arialle turned to Ryldor again and spoke in a hushed tone, "Time is short. I'm supposed to tell you of what must be done once we reach the main encampment. You are a mage, they tell me, i'm sure you must have schooled at Ximax. Have you ever heard of Caradol the Wise, Archmage of the White Tower?" Hold me. Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Ryldor Gadriel on February 09, 2004, 12:48:22 PM "Lady Arialle it is. And if I can be of any other assistance after these trying times, please don't hesitate to call on me." he said with a bow. Blasted beautiful women. Was this town specifically created to get me into trouble?
Did she say… "Caradol? Of course I heard of him. He took office while I was there." Ryldor blurted out, all pretense of him not being a mage gone. "Incredibly powerful, of course. Said to be very kind, but also very odd. Eccentric." He realized he was rambling a little and stopped. "I'm even more confused now and I don't think that's possible. What does Caradol have to do with this?"

Arialle seemed to brighten up a little, smiling faintly as she looked at Ryldor, and began to explain further, "I don't know much of Caradol as a mage in Ximax, all i know, is that he has been a wise and loyal advisor to the Royal Family for many years." She glanced around once more, and took a deep breath. "Seven years ago when Prince Viginold insisted on visiting the Shivering Woods for his 18th birthday, he requested the company of Princess Nalaere, who was then 11, and along with his royal entourage was Caradol. Against everyone's warnings, pleas and advice, the Prince demanded to enter the woods, along with the Princess. Of course a group of Royal Guards were sent along with the Prince and Princess, but from what was narrated by the guards after, the Prince and Princess somehow managed to get lost within the woods, and not long after the Prince came running out of the woods screaming in fear, and the Princess was no where to be found." Lowering her voice, Arialle leaned in closer to Ryldor, "Yesterday Caradol arrived and sought shelter with us. I could not believe the words that came forth from him, as he told me that he had overheard a conversation that convinced him the Prince had somehow arranged or planned the disappearance of the Princess. Against the Prince's wishes, he left from the capital to Eresh, and now the Prince suspects that Caradol has unearthed the truth, and wants him back. Caradol is determined to enter the woods and try to sought out the Princess --" Before Arialle could continue on, the figures of men and horses appeared in the distance. Arialle hurriedly turned to Ryldor, "The Prince has entrusted Sir Olpeg with the task of finding and reining in Caradol. You ... are a little youthful, but Sir Olpeg has supposedly "hired" the services of a mage from Ximax. Lady Ryva has arranged an audience with the Prince and the Captain for you. You must hand the letter to the Prince and then --" A tall guard clad in the uniform and insignia of the Royal Kyranian guards had now stepped up besides Ryldor and Arialle, causing Arialle to abruptly go quiet. Behind the guard were two empty horses led by another guard. It was apparently for Ryldor and Arialle. The tall guard made a slight bow and greeted Arialle respectfully, "Lady Arialle, the Prince awaits." Hold me. Soothe me. Love me. Save me from my RAGE. Title: Re: The Weaver's Cottage Post by: Ryldor Gadriel on February 17, 2004, 12:53:22 PM Ryldor carefully listened to the latest version of the kidnapping and Arialle's plans for the Prince, while his mind tried to assimilate what he was being told. Why would the Prince have just killed the Princess if he wanted her to disappear? Why go through all this trouble with the woods? And what could Caradol have discovered now after seven years?
Arialle was trying to complete her instructions when the guards arrived. Blasted women. Now what? Does she want to kill the Prince? Pick his pocket? Find him a companion for the evening? I suppose I'm the mage from Ximax Sir Olpeg has hired, but for what? He decided to try arrogance on the guards. "Well let's be quick about it. You've kept us waiting long enough," he said with a dismissive wave. The mage looked down his nose at the guard as if he were something that might sully his jacket. "And remember your place. Lady Arialle and I have important private matters to discuss. Matters obviously not for your ears. You will keep a respectful distance at all times on the journey." Finally, he turned back to Lady Arialle and said "The Prince awaits. Shall we go?

The guards were quite taken aback by Ryldor's tone and attitude towards them. All they had been told was they had to carefully escort Arialle back to the main encampment, as well as to receive a powerful mage that had just arrived from Ximax as per the invitation of Sir Olpeg. They supposed that powerful mage would have reason to be so ... arrogant, but Ryldor looked ... a tad bit young. Still, they decided that it was better to be on the safe side. Ryldor and Arialle were assisted in mounting the horses, and then Arialle continued with her instructions to the disguised elf under the watchful gazes of the guards from a distance.
