Wow...my first rpg that I'm moderating. I feel so excited.lol. Anyways, Phiona, you can start at the tavern if you want. or if you have aim or msn, we can discuss another way of putting your character in.

Starting at the tavern is fine with me.

You didn't mention what time of day it is in your post.  Since Tierria is wandering about the city and the two cloaked people just went up to their room(s), I'll say it is early evening, just after dusk.

If I am incorrect, let me know and I will alter my post, alright?

Woah... out-posted already.  Heh.  :)   You guys are fast!

I was doing some research on Dasai while I wrote, so sorry for the lagged post.  I'll try to keep up.

Good thing Aiyana joined!  She will be far more handier with a bow than Phiona.  But now you have two archers!  Whoot!

cool. Archers will play a crucial part in the story later on. Put down where you can be contacted in the contacts thread so we could discuss more on the story.

Phiona, i figured out a way we officially become a group. A wealthy merchant can hire you and I as protectors of his caravan from dasai to another town or city. I'm gonna look at the nearby places that go north. Bandits are gonna attack the caravan, so that might be the first fight.

I have an idea how Aiyana can come in. When the bandits attack the caravan, she could be in the area, and help. And btw, there is going to be a good 'ol fashioned bar fight before that fight.

Before the caravan scene, Aiyana can rp on how she got into the area. Later on, the caravan is going to take us to a village where children are being taken from their families to work for a group of freelance mercenaries. Slave labor that is.

Hey you two!  Gimme a chance, will ya?  :eek

[Mini rant on]

I'm not online when you are, so I'd like it if you gave me a chance to post, please!  :)   Especially in a situation where Phiona would act.  Posting that much is ok if it just the two characters roleplaying.

Posting now.  :)

Well I have to go in a bit. But I made sure that you get first dibs. You wipe out the first half. I'll have Severine take care of the rest, and it'll lead up to where the wealthy guy approaches our characters. So if I don't do anythign today, tomorrow we should start the caravan trip.

Good enough.  I figure there are about 8 (Phiona mentioned more than a half dozen).

I added to my last post rather than post again.

Phiona has took down three temporarily and one more is unconcious (bearded guy).  But the others might not be willing to continue the fight, since they are getting their asses whooped.

Phiona is a mess too.  She splattered with blood (the other guy's) and a nasty bruise on her neck.  But then the fight isn't over yet...

Ok.  The caravan thing sounds fine.  I have a few questions though:

1) Are we the mercenaries collecting slave labor?
2) When should I post?

Well here's the thing Aiyana. After the tavern fight, there's this wealthy man who was watching us who comes up to Phiona and I, and asks if we want to guard his caravan. The caravan has suppiles for something...but we don't find out till later that they are gonna be used for slave labor. When we get attacked by the bandits, most likely we will be out numbered. That's when you join us But I would like for you to post some stuff before that...to show that you are in the area. heck, you can do that right now. It's gonna hapopen in the Shardon forest anyway.

1) Are we the mercenaries collecting slave labor?

"Later on, the caravan is going to take us to a village where children are being taken from their families to work for a group of freelance mercenaries. Slave labor that is." -Severine

Aiyana:
We will be hired to guard a caravan that will end up in the village, only passing through is my guess.  While in the village, we'll discover that children are being taken away to work as slaves for some freelance mercs.  We are not those mercs, we are guards for the caravan.  I'm thinking that our first adventure will be a rescue operation.

Severine is just giving us some idea of what is ahead.

As for Aiyan joining us, I think he wants you to wait until we are on the road.  I remember him saying something about you fighting some brigands?

Title: Re: CHAT!
Post by: SeverineHalo on July 26, 2003, 06:05:22 AM
cool. You see, they use the parents of the village for working in the fields, and they use the children (from ages like 12-19) for building their nearby base. A village full of children without parents around would look suspicious to outsiders. And we're guarding weapons that we think are being given to freelance mercs who protect the village from bandits.

(Man...I'm doing a lot of posting today. At least you're paying attention to your story...lol)

That's right! I'm talking to myself!

anyways....

Phiona, I have been reading your cd over a few times. Same with you Aiyana, to see if I can get any ideas for a side-quest or such.  I liked both cds.

Phiona, I see that both of our characters use bastard swords. That will fit well in this idea I had, which I will mention when the time draws near for the scene I have in mind (don't wanna spoil it for out good readers now do we?) Also, there's gonna be a part in the story where we meet a family friend of the Halo family. Severine and him are going discuss about when he used to visit steelwind (sevy's dad) and such. Maybe he, a family member of the Halo family, and a Whitefire could've at one point traveled together? I was thinking he could recgonized you, and tell about how the three of them traveled all over together and such. That could bring sev and phiona a little closer as friends and fighting buddies.

(also one of their adventures just might be mentioned in a future story...which opens for for a story I had in mind.)

Title: Re: Idea
Post by: Phiona Whitefire on July 26, 2003, 04:29:22 PM
I know Phiona's background ends with her heading out for adventure at age 20ish but I did write the following:

"The last adventuring group she'd been with (for a period of three years) was completely destroyed in an ambush by a band of marauding ogres. She alone survived the battle. (Phiona doesn't say it, but she is still grieving strongly for the loss of her good friends.) Because of this, she will hesitate to become close with new people too soon..."

So I need to expand her background a bit, but it will still end with her losing all the friends from her first adventuring group.  That's not this group though, remember she is 24 now.

As for anyone recognizing the name 'Whitefire', yes!  People would!   I did that on purpose...  Her anscestor was a great leader, but she could never compare to him in that regard. If you haven't noticed yet, Phiona is not a social jewel.  ;)

And then there's the small problem of her avoiding the troops in the area, especially their commander.  I made sure there was  a lot to hook her into some interesting stories.  I'm glad you are pulling her into the story like that.   Feel free to suggest more links.

lol. Ask as many questions as you need to Aiyana. I prefer that actually. Gararion might have a character in this...so you can pc with him. I might put up another thread for that. a sub-chapter actually.

As for you Phiona, I have an idea. I was re-reading your cd again. The merc group is going to be linked to a bigger organization kown as the Legion of Rage. I was thinking...Marlus Blackwine could be cast out from the army. There could have been a few more incidents similar to yours with other female soliders, and finally his peers spoke out about it. Then they revealed what he did to the villagers as well as other incidents, and he escaped from being thrown in prision. Vowing revenge, he runs into the organization's leader, and soon enough he joins them. They need someone with a military background. And he also mastered conrtolling the beserker curse, so he can use it when in the heat of battle and not lose control. I was thinking he could be overseeing the merc camp, and we encounter him. Also, when the feamles go bathing in one scene, Tierria could ask you about the markings on your arms and back. That could be before we get to the village.

Unless there is more that you need to reveal, I think that we could synopsize this part and move on.

The only thing Phiona would do before leaving is to ask the innkeeper what he knows of this merchant Voltaire.  And that only after she's had a bath.

Aiyana, Gararion, the sub-chapter is set up. You will meet in Sharadon forest. You two can think up of a way of meeting one another. I was thinking that you both saw the merc fortress that was being built, and u wanted to investigate it, but wasn't allowed to egt close enough.

I have another idea. In addition to trying to check out the base, you can go around Sheren village in the beginning of the sub-chapter if you want to. In the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, there will be mostly adults and kids under 10. the teenagers come in from slave labor at night. But you don't find out aboutt he slave labor part until we all go there as a group. You three will eventually meet up with us by helping us fight of a group of bandits in Sharadon forest. So just make sure it leads up to that. So for now, just do soem exploring.

I posted for early morning.
Ready to start the day when you are.

Hey Severine, should we have a thread with general information on important non-player characters?  Treat them like mini CDs?  We can keep it locked and use it only for reference.  What do you say?  First character to go in would be the Voltaire the merchant.  Lesser characters, like the innkeeper, wouldn't need to be written up at all.

Ok, Zeadon, I fixed my post.  Damn, I can't believe I missed the part about the scar!  Its in there now.  I'll try to pay closer attention now.

By the way, I really like the tie-in to the game you came up with: Follow the halo.  Very cool.  Now all you need is to figure out what his father meant by that in the letter.

And why a letter?  Since Sinfond died while Zeadon was very young, maybe he knew he was to die?  (Fate)  So Sinfond was a seer?  That would be great.  So the weapons and a letter were left to be given to Zeadon when he reached a certain age?

And so... the letter should be written up, so you (we) have some idea what it says.  It may become important to this story.  Talk to Severine more about this, though... it ties Zeadon into the game better.  Very cool.

Well with the speed up of the traveling, it shouldn't take long Eryk. The moment my group meets up with the other three, I might either do a sub-chapter or have you, Nighl, and Tema start off chapter 2 with you guys entering the village. By next week, you should be in this. As for the Ripp/Aiyana/Elralaria group, you guys are sort of on a different time frame from my group. In a sense, my group starts traveling a day before you guys meet. So when the caravan stops to rest for the night, that is in the same time frame as you guys meeting cause it'll even out that way...since I'm moving time forward and you guys are getting to know each other.

And Phiona, its good to see ya somewhat better I hope :)

Severine:  For the next week I'll only be able to post once a day.  Still very ill and on lots of meds.

Feel free to conclude/synopsis the practice and to best Phiona in the sparring.  Remember, her blade is mundane and she is not the best swordsperson in the realm.

Once I'm better, I'll get on that list of NPCs.

Phiona

PS. The sword she mentioned in the last post is Blackwine's.  No one knows how he came across such a blade, but I thought it might be interesting that the other side have access to superior weaponry too.  ;)

Cool idea. Well hope you feel better. Once a day post is just enough for me. If you do that, then we'll meet up with the others in no time. after the swordfight, there might be some convo hear and there...when we all sleep sev will have this dream...then the group wakes up, and will continue to the village. along the way, the ambush will happen, and that will include the other characters. I just hope Zeadon posts more often. i wanna see what is character is thinking and doing even though he can be dragged on till the fight.

Regarding Phiona's thoughts:  They are not an open book.  Just because I write something, please don't think she's yelling it out to the world.

Only someone who knows the behavioral patterns of humans very well would notice that Phiona is attracted to Severine.  Otherwise, anyone close enough to either of them might notice they have "chemistry".  Phiona herself is trying to play down these feelings, with respect to the relationship between Severine and Tierria.

Also, this is my writing style.  Any full sentence in italics will be her thoughts; unknown to anyone unless they are reading her mind.  If its a single word or two within quote, then it is emphasis.   I hope this helps people understand my posts better.

Good story so far!

It shouldn't be.  They are in the dark, practically.  Even if everyone is watching them spar, how could anyone see anything subtle?

It is a difficult thing separating what the reader knows from what the character knows.  I keep this in mind whenever I am writing for Phiona.  I've made mistakes though, but that is what the edit feature is for.

Speaking of which, I am hoping that Zeadon will edit his post and add something, anything, to it.  Nothing bugs me more than the 1 or 2 sentence post.  Erg. :(

Hey guys. I can see a lot happens when you're gone for a day...

To answer your question Elraralia, we're almost up to the part where we run into you guys. When we are in Sharadon forest the next day (something that I'll try to speed up to today) bandits will attack. You guys will hear the commotion...and investigate. and from theer on, the storyline will take off. Sorry if you guys are not in the main story faster, but I need to establish the characters that severine has met in dasai...I didn't wanna rush all the characters together just like that.

Right now, both groups are asleep. My group will wake up before Charlie's Elves, and get a head start in the morning. When you guys wake up, Ripp will mention about meeting Crestus Voltaire (look in page 2 or 3 of Whispering Rumors for more info on that). You two will probably decide to go his way. In that direction, you will hear the commotion from the other direction (Read Whispering Rumors for when that time comes), and once one of you hear the commotion, I'll lock the sub-chapter and all of you will post in chapter 1. Sorry if the story was slow for the three of you...I needed to spread out the characters. And I also apologize to Eryk, Nighl, and Tema. You three waited patiently, and Chapter 2 is coming up soon. Which is called Discovery btw. It'll be plenty of action in that, and the story will take off very well.

Ah. cool.

*thinks*

When in Sheren village, my group will stay at the inn for a bit (the inn was made to have travelers stay there so no suspicion will arise), but Severine, Phiona, Gararion, and Tierria will be thrown out of the inn for protecting a young teenage blind girl who said a lil too much (she mentioned to one of the barmaids that her brother was working longer than usual in the 'pit' area...). they will stay at the young girl's house for the remainder of the investigation of the village. The rest of you will stay at the inn (the three elves will not be around when this scene occurs...but will be in the village area doing your own exploring. as for the rest, you could do your own thing. I'll give a description of the village at your resquest).

More will be told when chapter 2 occurs

I'm in Oregon.

Timing:  Phiona was up most of the night, and finally fell asleep shortly before Severine woke up from his dream.  She then woke up before the sun rose and only came back toward the end of Tierria's post.  I know my post was long, I hope that doesn't bother anyone.

Wow...that was long. Actually, I liked it long. Gave more detail to your character, and established her thoughts of Severine and Tierria. Severine is going to act a little funny from now on till the bandit fight. As for Tierria, I wanted her and Phiona to do a bathe scene where they both get to know each other a little bit. (as in get to know each other...NOT "get" to know each other for those of you whose minds are in the gutter...lol.). As for Zeadon, you can do a scene where you do some thinking on last night, or eat...or whatever...lol.

Since it might take two days for the bathe scene (in real time that is), Phiona, I'm giving you permission to do the whole scene with Tierria yourself. Just do it from Phiona's perspective (and if Tierria talks just give her some Tierria-like answers), and when the scene is over, Tierria will have a recap and her thoughts. Then in Sev's post after that, I'll get the caravan going, and might speed it up to the ambush.

Phiona, you did a great job witht hat scene! You had Tierria's character down pretty well, I must admit. If I need you to do something with her again...or even Severine, I'll know who to come to ;)

Alright folks...at the end of sevy's post tomorrow, the beginning of the bandit fight will start. That means whoever in the sub-chapter hears the commotion first, I'll close the thread at that point, and everyone will post in chapter 1.

Heh...finally...lol.

After the fight, Eryk, Tema, and Nighl can post them coming into the village since the group is arriving at night.

Well I posted.  Since we are still outside the forest, and Phiona is in the back of the caravan, I didn't have her spot anything.  Besides, when you have more than one character "sense" and ambush or spies, the story gets unbelievable.  The more real we keep the story, the better!  ;)

I hope you don't mind that I pulled Tierria back to ride by Phiona.  I figure she is off to the side, so she can still watch Severine.  Line of sight.

Updated the NPC section, added some info and rearranged a bit.  Added Blackwine to the mix, too.  :evil

Actually, yes. That was great...since you were the first character in the sub-chapter. I will proceed to lock the sub-chapter. When posting for your first time in chap 1, you three elves just give a recap on what happened in he sub-chapter.

Phiona, I'm going to use the fight to raise the tierria/sevy/phiona love triangle up one level. Even though Severine is pissed as hell, and has a taste of his beserkerside, he doesn't let it take over him, so he has somewhat control over it since this is the first time it came up this high....ever since his family's death that is. But once he sees an arrow pointed at Phiona, he dives off Rosebud, and tackles Phiona out the way. He then ends up holding her...in a comforting way that he would hold Tierria. One of the guards ends up killing the archer. I was thinking that Phiona ends up holding him back as if she was vulnerable and defenseless, and the two both lose themselves in the moment...that is until Gromelson tells tem to get off their butts and start fghting, which they do back-to-back. and when the fight is over, Phiona could feel a bit weirded out by her reaction to Severine holding her in such a manner, and doesn't try to say much...and maybe even act shy around him. As for Tierria, he'll be comforting her a lot because o her freaking out during the aftermath, and weeping because of losing Alchemy who comes back tp its master while the group travels on with new companions.

Aha!  She did fall off the horse!  Very good.

I set up what you asked for, Severine!  All is ready for your post.*

One question:  These ambushers are a different set of villains from the ones we'll be fighting later, right?  I mean, if they were part of the group that holds Sheren, they'd have no reason to attack us.  I think.

Phiona [with a bullseye painted on the back of her tunic]

*Note that in my post I mentioned Voltaire, Lilas and Ren.  Lilas is dead for sure.  Ren is at death's door.. knock, knock, knocking...  Also, the front wagon has been taken by the bandits and is being driven off, so if anyone wants to tackle that bit, feel free!  I purposefully did not mention any of the rescuing elves because I figure they are somewhere near the front of the mix.

You might want to fix your post.

Just so you know, the only two females in the caravan are Phiona and Tierria, neither of which are girls, but full grown women.

Tierria is off hiding in the trees and has already entountered one of you elves.  Except for the arrow aimed at Phiona's back, she's got her situation under control.

Additionally, the white horse (Tierria's) that had been shot in the flank is running up the road, I doubt a few words of comfort will turn her back to the fight.

The gold mare (Phiona's)  is a warhorse and will be difficult to approach, especially in the thick of battle.

It would be excellent if you would read all the posts before you post, so you can get things straight in your post.  There were some 15 or so bandits in the first rush, per Severine, and a another wave coming from the woods per my post- no count given- and then the archers from the woods.  Most of the archers have moved out into the open by now to better pick off stragglers from the caravan.

There are seven wagons, hence seven drivers.  The merchant, and the guards he hired, including us, come to ten, so that means there are a total of 17 people in the caravan.  As of my last post, two of the guards are down.

I hope this helps, but reading all the posts is your best source for information, as usual.  I know it was a different thread from your own, but you can pick up good info by doing a little research.  I usually read all the posts first, including the OOC posts and your sub-chapter posts, for just that reason.  I often refer to the posted CDs for descriptions and all.  NPC descriptions are in the NPC thread.

And don't feel bad about missing things:  I posted that Tierria had been shot in the arm as well, and that was disregarded.  I haven't gone back to edit my post yet, because I wanted to mention it here first. (Sev?  What do you say, was she shot or not?  If so, she still has the arrow in her arm.  If not, then it was a near-miss)

Phiona

PS: It was Severine who wanted to stage the scene with Phiona to further "the triangle", by the way.  As Mod, this is his directing style, and he does have a lot of the story planned out (which can be a good thing considering most stories here die when the Mod has no clue where to take the story next) and that's why I'm enjoying this so.  You are free to suggest plot threads to better integrate your PC into the story.

Alright, looks like I kinda have to change that post.  Once again, really sorry about that.  I did read all of the posts, but I was really tired when I was doing so, and missed by the looks of it a lot of stuff :o  .  And when it comes to calling you woman girls, thats just my way of saying...females...sorry if there was some confusion about that as well.

Well, it's off to the correcting board we go! :p

Girls/women... okay.  Whatever you need to call 'em.  But then at least try to indicate which one you were talking to.  Even though you wrote:  "Stopping for a moment to regroup, she spotted one of the what she assumed to be countless archers in the trees, aiming an arrow right at one of the young woman."  The archer that is about to shoot Phiona is out in the open about 12 feet ( 4 ped ) behind her.  Tierria is in the trees, so an attacked would need to be also in order to shoot her.  You can see why I'm a little confused.  ;)

Back to descriptions, Tierria, a Stratanian, has raven black hair, green eyes and is slightly taller and more voluptuous than Phiona.  Tierria is a classic, pale beauty and very feminine, right down to her dress, actions and flowery scent.  Phiona, an Avennorian, is very much the tom-boy: athletic, tanned, lithe and lean.  Her hair is light brown with blonde streaks and her eyes are dark brown.  Wildly different, these two.

Though I'm not one of the mods, I believe the story is set except for one character.  Severine has said this a few times.  You do have an alternative though: read the 'Cameos' section.  Severine said that characters may make short appearances (1 or 2 chapters) in the story.  Hope this helps.

It was an easy fix:

"Tierria cried out as one of the missles nearly hit her arm and another slammed into her mount's flank."

All I had to do was add "nearly" to the sentence.

Severine, about the last post (tackling Phiona to save her), I think the third-to-last and final paragraphs are a little heavy-handed.  Phiona wouldn't react that way, even knowing that Severine saved her life.  The battle is still going on around them, she wouldn't stop to cling all needy-like to Severine.  This type of reaction is something more akin to what Tierria would do, don't you think?  More correctly, Phiona, would show her appreciation after the fight is over.

I probably should have mentioned this before when you first posted it in OOC.  So how can we fix it?

How about after he tackles her, he ends up on top of her and they have "a moment" before they both scrabble to their feet and continue kicking ass?  Once Phiona is aware that she was in mortal danger and that Sev saved her, she can deal with the "thank you" later and it would be just as tender a moment while making much more sense.

What do you say?

Ok, I lost count of how many bandits are left.

Initially we have 15 (first wave)
and then some 10-12 more, let's say 12 (second wave)
and the archers, 8 maybe?

That gives us 35 total.  Here's the tally chronologically:

Severine- 1 archer
Tierria's horse throws her and runs off
Severine- 3 bandits (the ravagers)
at this point Severine spotted some 15 bandits, but it could be some were on the other side of the wagons
Ripp Dide- 3 bandits (1 by ice)
Ripp Dide- 2 more bandits
Aiyana Xathe- 3 bandits
one bandit steals the first wagon and drives up the road
Phiona- 1 bandit (kicked onto Ren's sword)
Ren falls and at this point there are still arrows coming form the trees
Phiona's horse- 1 bandit (trampled)
Lilas is then killed by archers and shortly after, Voltaire is spotted hiding on a wagon
Phiona- 1 bandit
at this point the archers have moved out of the treeline
Elraralia Horfiwiel- 4 bandits
Severine Halo- 5 bandits, 2 archers
at this point, Severine notes there are only 8-9 left
Jacques- 1 archer
young bandit runs escapes

I count 28 bandits/archer killed, defeated or running off at this point.
This does leave 6 if the beginning count was 35, but it does not include any killed by the guards.  So we can either add more bandits or say the guards fought them off but didn't kill any.  I think the bandits, once they realize they are losing, will melt away into the woods.

And just so we all know:  Seveine wins with 11 confirmed kills!  Whoot!

In edit:  Aiyana Xathe killed another of the fleeing bandits.  That means 7 escaped, 5 of which were routed after the elven reinforcements show up?  Severine still needs to post this bit, I think.

Title: Confusion
Post by: Phiona Whitefire on August 21, 2003, 08:44:22 AM
I'm confused.  After our IM conversation, I thought the remaining bandits were supposed to get away.   Are we now hunting them down and slaughtering them to a man?

Phiona is not that bloodthirsty.  Nor will she leave the other 6 wagons unguarded.  Sev can handle one man driving a wagon alone, especially after taking out so many others.

I'll post now.

Ok.  Done.  Remember,  all is not black and white.  There should be a side to every story, even those of all the bandits our PCs killed.  Consider where we are headed, what we are guarding (in the caravan) and, above all, why things are happening as they are.

Alright folks, here's what is up:

Aiyana, Elararia, Ripp

You three will introduce yourselves. Ripp will make small talk with Crestus, and will decided to join the party to Sheren village. The other two will develop their own reason to join.

Tierria, Phiona, Severine

Tierria and Phiona should stay close to Ren in one of the wagons, where he will rest. Phiona might be on her horse near the wagon, and Tieriia will be inside. after the introductuion, we'll be on our way. Severine will stay in front as usual, and along the way, Alchemy will come back along the way, when everyone is getting to know the elves. After that, I'm fast forwarding to us arriving at the village at midnight. This is the last chance for the other person in our group to post. If not, then i'll make it look like he went on his own way. I'm not going to have this story messed up...

Eryk, Tema, and Nighl

Once again, I apologize for the wait. That's why I'm letting you three post when our group is on our way to Sheren village. I don't know if Nighl is still waiting though...if you read this Nighl, just post if you're still in this. If not, then I understand.

From here on, the story will take off pretty well. I'm going to concetrate on making the storylines better (with the help of the rest of you), including my writing. I wanted to fly past some of the minor stuff so nobody would get bored. I'm also posting the other main officers of the Legion Of Rage...the main enemy that we'll be against on the NPC thread.

And by the way, I helped detail some of the caravan guards.  ;)

What the.....first time I decide to post in a while and it gets totally edited *sweatdrop*...

Phiona - Meh it's alright I don't mind, although I was just remarking on a few common traits found in your NPC's...they tend to be attractive/charismatic and what not...doesn't mean they're nice people. Heck all if them seem to be villains....heh then again I like villains...gotta be an anti-hero to those goody two shoes types. Lol and to judge your NPC's, then villains are certainly an attractive and charismatic lot. Hah in your face Sev!

Severine - *smirk* You're just angry cause you know it's true....your NPC's are all perverted....look at the caravan guards. What trait do they all have in common? They're all lecherous and perverse..not unlike their creator *cough*Severine*cough*. Wasn't I the one that convinced you that an orgy involving the troll, the villagers, and the legion soldiers was totally implausible? I do recall you were reluctant to let go of that idea...in fact you were suggesting having Sev doing lord knows what to that poor troll...As for my character...I'm working on it woman! Get off my case....things are rather hectic with college and what not...but I promise that Everil will be done...........sometime within this.......year...until then have fun in the story without me!

Seig/Dark Morpher. I have an idea for you. I was thinking that since you're an assassin (and kasumarri) you could be paid to go after the ivory fox...or at least hear about the very large price that is on her head. when you hear that i'm looking for her, you began checking out our group in sheren village. then when the ivory fox arrives towards the end of chapter 2, and we want to go after her, you'll then officially join my party. during chapter 2 you can have your own little investigation going on while you're in the village.

K folks. Here's the info. I'm waiting for the rest of you to post at least once before i move it on to chap 2. the last post will probably be with severine...maybe tierria. eryk, tema, and seig. you three can either post now if you want to, or post during chapter 2. its your choice. i'm also creating a new thread called 'Chapter Summary'. Basically, the title explains itself. I'll have a Summary on each page in each chapter and sub-chapter once it gets done. so if you're new or u need to know what happened, just read there if u want. For a biref period of time every so often there will be an NPC magic user in our group named Ravenhunt. He's an older man that is a family friend of the Halo and Whitefire families. I'm not adding him in the list...yet. not until we're halfway through with chap 2: Discovery. Well, that's all for now. Hope you all had a nice summer, and keep up the good work! :)

I officially deleted zeadon from the character list btw. I don't mind if a person doesn't post that much, but at least make an effort...and posting during fights is a MUST! I can understand if you're busy and stuff...the smart thing to do is tell everyone ahead of time that u won't be posting often. Thanks again for the 411 eryk and elra. :)

Title: VILLAGE
Post by: Phiona Whitefire on August 28, 2003, 06:39:22 AM
Village, you guys.... village.  Not town, not city!

Sheren is small.  It and the surrounding area are completely encircled by a 30' tall wall built out of upright, rough-cut tree trunks.  On the inside of the wall, at intervals, platforms are built for look-outs and/or archers to man.  Ladders lead up to the platforms, which are set about 4 feet lower than the top of the wall to protect the archers from outside attack.

The village itself has 4 freshwater wells leading to the same underground spring that runs under Sheren.  There is no river or stream running through the  area, so no grates or other egress.

Crossing the wall:

There are a couple of ways, such as climbing (you may need equipment) or digging under (will take awhile since the wall is set deep into the ground, maybe 10 or 15 feet).

There are no trees by the wall.  The larger ones were clearcut for construction, and smaller trees/bushes were cleared away (fire hazard and for ease of spotting attack).

Sneaking on to the caravan is not an option, since it is too well guarded.  Same with the gates.

You can try talking your way in, or using magic.

Good luck.

Well right now...the characters are getting to know each other. I might have the conversation go on with the group at the table till the end of this week. not only can new characters come in easier, but it'll ease the stress off of those who ahve been posting and let Phiona and I think of what's to happen next. and it'll have the people who has been in since the beginning get to know the newer characters some.

As for people who ends up burning us and not posting for weeks and so on...I'll move their character profiles to the cameo section, so it'll be like they posted for a short while. That'll separate them from the main characters. I really don't want a person messing up this story. I have so many good ideas for it, and I thank those who still post.

No fair, Severine!

My PC is supposed to be laconic = meaning she just doesn't talk a lot.  Please do not put me in a position to play my PC against her character again.  I did it this time to facilitate the new PCs into the group, but I won't do it again, ok?  Next time she is asked to "explain things" or to tell a story, do not be surprised if she stalks off in a huff.  Or just shrugs her shoulders and keeps her lips zipped.

hehehehehe...

it would've been funny if Phiona didn't say much and everyone was clueless when they all met in Severine's room. anyways, Severine left to go check on Tierria, and he wanted to keep the convo short because of the soldiers lookign at them. So he just wanted Phiona to give a very short explanation.

And besides...sevy and 'Ria are going to have a tender moment next post. Gotta keep the 'traingle' balanced at this point, right? :D

ps: There will be an introduction of Marlus Blackwine next post too.

Just to mention...the two things Blackwine was talking about is the sword sensing Severine's 'curse' and The Sword of Halo. The way the sword sense great power is the temperature in the area around it gets cold. the greater the power, the colder it gets. I figured that would be more creative than glowing.

Post by: SeverineHalo on September 16, 2003, 02:39:22 AM
Here's how it's going to be:

When everyone arrives in the room, Sevy will explain the situation. After info is gathered, he will then proceed to make groups with everyone. During this time, Luca will try to listen in on our conversation through the door. I was thinking her eagle friend bothering her mentally, causing Luca to talk out loud. While Severine is explaining the situation, he'll be moving around the room. While standing next to the door, he hears Luca's bickering. He'll then casually open the door, and throw her inside. At that time, everyone will think she's a spy. and during severine's talking when he sets upn the groups...it'll goes as follows:

Severine & Phiona

Tierria & Eryk

Penrith & Elararia

Ripp & Tema & Luca (forcefully)

and while Severine and Phiona is traveling around the village...a certain blast from the past will see Phiona...not fully recognize her...but will be suspicious.

Hi everyone.  I have been chatting with Severine today and thought I should fill you in on some on my thoughts I told him regarding this story.

I think it is great that everyone is participating almost daily in this thread.  I want to remind you all that your PCs are very important in making this story a success, even though the main plot is about Severine.  Each of you have very unique and interesting PCs that can add a lot more to this story than just tagging along.  We want to incorporate your backgrounds into this epic tale, it may not seem like it now, but something might happen in the story later on which could alter Severine's original vision of the ending... who knows?

That said, if you have any sideplot concerning your PC that you'd like to play out, please bring it to Severine's attention and we will work it in.  Don't be afraid to have your PC build a relationship (any kind, not just love- rivalry, friendship, emnity, mentor/student) with other PCs.  That's what makes things interesting.

I hope we can all bring this story up to be the best one ever!  Severine's doing a great job keeping the momentum going, don't you all think so?   I do!  :clap   A big round of applause for Severine!  :clap  :clap  :clap

Lmao...is it just me or has Phiona gone a little clapping happy her last few ooc posts?

Just like to add something:
Luca was originally based on the rules and regs of AD+D (even though I don't actually PLAY the game...yah, dont ask) but with a tweaked story line to fit into the Santharian world. Since there is pretty much NO mention of half-elves on the Santharian website, I carried on the D+D acceptence of them. How are half-elves accepted, you ask? Simple....they're not, at least not completely. So just keep that in mind please when your PC is interacted with her. I mean...even the worlds most trusting, understanding and compationate being is wary of half-elves.

Sorry about ranting somewhat buy I've had some bad experiences with online RPG and unnaccepted character races (Ever try playing a drow on Yahoo Chat? Pure hell....but thats a whole other story and character)

Title: Reaction to half elves...
Post by: Phiona Whitefire on September 17, 2003, 06:24:22 PM
I was under the impression that half-elves were commonplace around here.  Well, maybe not commonplace, as they are seen less than full blooded elves...  but Phiona has elven blood in her too so Luca's racial heritage wouldn't bother her.  One of Phiona's grandparents (ok, great grandparents) is an elf and he is her mentor.  So when all is said and done, Phiona has some affinity to elves because of her family history.

Personality wise, Phiona gets on better with dwarves and halflings/hobbits, but she doesn't dislike half elves anymore that the next person.

I do play D&D, and as far as I know, half elves are generally excepted by both humans and elves, although to an elf, the halfbreed would appear more human, and to the human he would appear more like an elf.  Other than that, half elves are usually welcome in either races' community.

Here on Caelereth it may be a different story, but I haven't seen anything detrimental to any of the halfbreeds, except for those of the darker races.  Perhaps Luca has some personal, psychological problem with being a half breed?   I suppose I should go read your CD now...   :o

Lol. No problem, eh?

PS: Ripp, don't sweat it! I mean...how many 'manly' looking elves do you see out there?

This one.

In the begining I was weak.  Now I have purpose.  Stay me from my path and the Gods themselves cannot save you.

Yah..well....well....quiet! Well...he's DROW. Drow, whether Santharian version or D+D, are cool. *Huggles imaginary Drizzt plushie*. Out of curiosity, are the Santharian drow treated the same as the ones like in D+D? You know...shunned, hated, attacked?

Alright. I added the names of some of the Freedom Hawk members to the NPC section. I'll have to work on descriptions and everything else later. The moment this thread hits 13 pages, i'm making a new one and closing this one.

Title: Regarding pages...

I went to my Control Center, to Account Preferences and set my
Number of Replies per Page to 100.

When I look at the OOC thread now, I only see 3 pages.  I suggest everyone do this... it makes reading the threads a lot easier.  :)

Deren's post is not confusing at all.  If Deren bothered reading everyone's posts, he'd know that we were all up in Severine's room and not sitting in the inn's common room.

Apparently he did not bother to read all prior posts.  this is my pet peeve, I think everyone should read all the posts before posting for their PC.  Not optional, guys.

Phiona

To Deren: I am going to delete your post since it is completely out of context at this point in the story.  Please read the  entire thread and post accordingly.

For instance, Deren could have been the man that Phiona just spotted looking up at her window (and was gone when Seveine looked out).

Also, it would be nice if you wrote a little background info (internal dialog, memory, etc.) on how and why your PC is in this village.  As I recall, this PC is the one that is currently a part of the village guard (that we talked about in the Joining thread), and Severine should contact you soon regarding info that only your PC would know.

Thank you.

Just a reminder that this village is not big enough to have a marketplace (And even if there were one, it would be deserted).

Also, there is only one general store, which Phiona had already been to.  If anyone is going there, please go back and read my posts regarding the store and its occupant.  In addition to the inn (stables are part of the inn), there are maybe four or five buildings (a church/hall, the general store, Sheren's only official building/jailhouse/courthouse, a small restaurant/brewery/bakery, and one other that I'll leave up to you guys to make up), that make up the center of the village, set in a semi-circle around a wide open space (Sheren's village square).

Outlying businesses that are still within the wall are a few farms, a smithy (blacksmith), maybe a small mill and another stables.

Also remember that the only villagers seen will be women and children, with any boys older that, say, 12 years of age absent.

Splitting up was a good idea.  A lot of dialog can happen now, and the PCs can talk about their pasts.  :)

Wow! I must say I love the way things are turning up with the split up. Characters are now showing more personality (even though there was already a lot of personality to each person), and things are heating up a bit. I'm going to slow down the story a bit so that each character has more time to show off who they are and stuff. So take the time you need to do what u want to in this part of the chapter.

And thanks for making this a great story thus far!

And let's get things really rolling...right Mr. Fluffy thing? :pet

4 feet? Oh...I'll edit it a tad then. It took me long enough to find out what a slinker even was. It wasn't under S in the bestiary so I skimmed the whole list. Thank God its not called the Zzibly Slinker or something. Whatever.
