sure I will!

A question to Zdoth: We all have riding animals and Teri will get one from the elves (Teri, think of a nice one!), do you need one as well - or any other beast . Thouhg you are the quickest runner of all of us, you won't be able to outdo a horse, not to speak of an aj'nuvic.
Capher, what about you?

Actually...
Quote:
Tracking is something the Doimo respect and know. They are among the worlds finest trackers, after living and hunting in their lands for thousands upon thousands of years. Nothing escapes them if they want to get it, as they can even outrun horses in the distance, and not a single piece of information escapes their wary eyes.

so i could go with out something to ride.  And the Domio dont use horses.  Though, it would be interesting to put him on a tempermental aj'nuvic.

Well, must have overlooked that passage.. :lol

However, you can't have an aj'nuvic as a riding animal, but not knowing about your abilities, I could offer you a lift on mine ;)

Capher has a horse thank you, besides he could change into a wolf and run all day if needed.  But I think that would scare the horses, the Aj's and his companions. LOL

So we are to post in the future as well as the past.  Ok? I will think of something.

@Talia: Hmm, I think either you offer me a lift now, or wait a while, and say youre worried that Im tired or something.

@Capher: Hehe, if you turned into a wolf in front of Zdoth he would either try to kill you or run far, far away :D

Well, Terra seems to be away, so I just assume that she went down as well and write the last good-bye-post, where we meet Zdoth.

Zdoth, I don't think that Talia will offer you a place on her aj immediately... she might post some questions first..

Teri, may I choose your horse? (Well, the elves chose it for you anyway)

Talia, your first post with Zdoth, already mentions that he is riding a horse. So he does not need a lift, unless he gets one later on down the road.  Also do we not need to meet Zdoth in the Elven city, before we continue on to the Vale?

Or does he just show up outside of the city with an elven guide to tell us this is the man that the Leias and the High Council have sent us to guide us to the Vale of the Brownies?

All of these questions will help my post, thanks.

Capher.

Capher, I'm not mentioning, that he has a horse, I'm saying nothing about how he moves on - by foot or horse.

And the Leias will present him to us - as soon as we leave the Quallian in the morning.

Sorry Capher, nothing personal, just stugling with my issues still. As you well know I am rather down and depressed, and add to that a very stressful week. Of my very limited energies right now work takes almost all of it. Despite all this I put one foot infront of the other and try to make it to the next day. I will post when I can muster the energies to do so.

How many days from here to the Vale? Because unless you wanted me to be in the Vale proper, kinda doubt it, I'd be somewhere on the road. I love the road. It goes places, and I like to go places. I also like to see things, like the time I saw Milkengrad. Big place, with even bigger buildings. Some buildings were so big, it must have taken years to build. Just a couple years, though. Or maybe several. I like several better, because then when I take more than two, they can't get after me. I usually go for three when they say "couple" anyway, because it's kindof unspecified. It's like an unspecified amount of two. I guess that means I should take 2 or 4, so they don't notice a huge difference, because 6 or 8 would be too much. Some people say my talking is too much, but I guess that's probably because they try to listen. You're not supposed to listen to someone unless they're addressing you, are you? I mean, if I had been listening, I would have heard my friend say to my other friend, "Move it over, it's been there too long," but since I wasn't listening, I didn't hear it. I guess I'm not sure what he said, maybe because I was too busy saying something myself. I say a lot of things, myself, but that's just my opinion. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, even you; but then, you're probably more entitled to your opinion than I am. That's alright, though, I don't really need your opinion, I probably have enough of my own. I have a lot of things of my own, like...

...only guess that you're still listening. But let me tell you a little about myself...

Ken, we need to have a lunch break soon, why don't you join us there?
Two days to the vale, I would say.

Teri, your posts are good even if you are sleeping..

Next plans from my side... Vale - where we meet Eden - Dwarves - the Capher needs his strenght back, right? Anaios Gap maybe? Or an adventure while passing?

I have planned the big scale only though, most of you are story mods as well, you might fill in little details... or not so little ones..

Everyone,

I was thinking of a short encounter we could have right now.  Ever since Capher regained his memory and broke through the mental wall Eckra had put up in his mind, he (Eckra) will likely be looking for ways to stop Capher and the party, or at least slow us down.  Especially now that we are no longer in the elven forest, and that a couple of us are still a little weakened, my guess is that Eckra would think it a good time to strike.

Given that he is a powerful sorceror, he could probably send any number of things (those demon knights the party fought in Chylikis :evil , undead :evil  , orcs :evil  , or even just nasty humans :evil ).  I'd be willing to "throw" something at us if you all think it's all right.

It would give us a chance to "test our mettle" and offer a brief distraction.

Just let me know what you think.

Well, Capher has ideas as well, I'll be ready to let me surprise. The main intention is to meet Ken though. And it should not delay our way to the Vale too long - if you don't find a good way to integrate Eden already now. Some simple nasty men along the road may suffice as well - but it is up to you.

A complaint by me now..:)  don't let me do all the work - we have not been in the clearing yet, it is not described ,how we went there,  how it looks etc, if there is a well or a rivulet or whatever. We need a clear image of the place before we can play in it! These lovely fruits may drag your attention from the place, Ta'las, I do understand this well, :lol , nevertheless, one has to do it.. and I have to leave my beautiful comp now.. :(

Ok, I guess I kind of vaguely described our campsite.  We also have some regular type robbers coming after us, whether they were sent by Garrek, or by this other elf, that Garrek deals with to test us, I am not sure.  That would be up to Teri.

They just could be plain highway robbers and have nothing to do with our mission, except to rob us.  Either way Ta'las was itching for a fight so now he has one.;)

Damn my internet, damn it! I had a nice big, pretty post all ready to make, and my software has to want to update. So I updated it, and it wanted me to restart, and then it was waay past my bedtime, so I go to bed, and what comes next? I miss my chance, the perfect chance to come wandering through the group like I belong there. So now what? Probably wait until the fight's over. I really don't feel like coming in the middle of a fight.

Title: Brownie Stuff
Post by: Ta'lia of the Seven Jewels on March 08, 2006, 07:45:23 PM
Not linked, was too much work..

www.santharia.com/maps/de...ievale.htm

BROWNBARK BROWNIES have always been the most numerous in the Vale and in Akdor. It is said that even before Brownies were dispersed, they were by far the most numerous. Their skin (with matching hair and eye color) ranges from the lightest tan to the deepest shade of brown.

Akdor and the Vale have their share of Bluebarks

REDBARK BROWNIES are a special case. Their ancestry has little to do with their shading, as Redbarks are those that carry a special aptitude for magic... the magic is much more concentrated in their bodies then for other Brownies. Already rare, they are overwhelmingly female, with perhaps only one out of ten being male. They tend to stand a bit aloof from the other shades, just because their lives are so much different from others. In the Vale they have formed their own clan, Clan Maj, which makes their home under the Diamond Falls In Akdor they serve as witch doctors. In Aeolia, they are more numerous, but are just part of the normal population... magic is necessary to survive there, so just about everyone has developed a certain aptitude for it over the generations.

Redbarks have skin that is the deep red of the Cinnabark Pine Tree, with hair and eye color to match. Their eyes tend to glow an even brighter red when the magic is flowing through them. Greybark's sister, Sunrise, was a Redbark.

The Leaf Ferret, known as "Rasher" when tame, are a gliding version of the common ferret. The Leaf Ferret only lives in the Brownie Vale and unlike the common version only can be found in trees which gain them their common name. Leaf Ferrets also have the ability to glide between trees which allows them to never touch the ground. The tamed version of this animal is known as a "Rasher" and is used as transportation and as a hunting or war mount.

The Cinnabark Pine is a giant conifer, with turquoise needles and shaggy red-brown bark with a delicately fragrant spicy scent. Its bark is used as a sweet spice to flavor many foods. This tree is highly responsive to wood-sorcery and elven magic. The great Great Council Tree of the Brownies was created from a Cinnabark.

3.638 b.S           The LLaoihrr tribe begins to inhabit the Vale of Brownies
A scout from second of the groups dispersed by Keekoo long ago, while exploring upstream through a deep gorge, stumbled upon what would later be known as the Vale of Brownies. Tall, healthy trees spread their branches as far as the eye could see. After ascertaining that the valley was uninhabited, and in fact unknown before this time, he rushed back to make his report. The group eagerly passed through the gorge and made their valley their home, naming it LLaoihrr (The Valley City) and themselves Rrao-LLaoihrr (The Valley City Brownies).

The Sling-Shot is a light and small missile weapon, mostly used by Brownies. In combination with hunting knives, it is effective against the smallest animals, for example rodents, bugs and beetles, and small birds. A skilled user can reach a range of 25 peds.

Brownie believes
Spiritism. These Brownies worship literally thousands of gods. For them, every rock, every tree, every stream and pool, mountain and valley has and is a guardian spirit. These spirits must be appeased or bad things will happen, like a branch falling on your head or death from drowning. Stories told around the fire, passed down from generation to generation, of the exploits of these spirits keep the belief in the spirits of individual natural objects alive. They live in constant fear that unappeased vengeful spirits will harm them in some way. Appeasing most spirits is simple. A word of recognition, request, or thanks, a small chunk of meat, a pretty feather - all can be offered and seem generally to be accepted. Perhaps two-thirds of the Brownie population of Ar'a'chn worships the spirits in some way, most commonly in the VALE OF BROWNIES and in AKDOR.

The Blowpipe is a weapon mostly used by Brownies and mullogs. It consists of a hollow twig or part of a plant and a dart that is blown through it. Generally used for the hunt of bigger animals, the tip of the dart is poisoned, either with a killing or a sleeping potion. The dart alone doesnt do a lot of damage.

The Blackbeetle, or in Browniin the Eioiei (lit. simply "black"), has - as the name already implies - a shield of a shiny black color; its head and thorax are plain black. It grows up to one and a half palmspans, making it one of the biggest beetles at the southern Sarvonian continent, and its flesh is seen as a delicacy amongst the Brownies. This beetle is found throughout Sarvonia, although it is only hunted by Brownies, to whom the beetle's meat represents an important resource for their diet.

we might get there!

The council tree

Capital city of the Vale Brownies, grown with magical assistance around 1000 b.S. and site of the Council of Clans.

Growing to a height of 117 peds, the Council Tree is probably the tallest tree in the world (with the possible exception of the Tree of Life). It is located in the Vale of the Brownies at the fork of the River of the Reeds and the Snake River (where the houses are on the map). It was grown with magical help from a Cinnabark Pine sapling, so that in only twenty years it had reached its full growth, much larger and taller than a normal Cinnabark Pine. The Council Tree's trunk is 7.6 peds in diameter. It has bluish-green, needlelike leaves, and branches that start at 29 peds up the trunk. The tree is partially hollow, and has many structures built onto the outside of its trunk and branches, with 462 stories, called "levels", in all, 115 of which are below the first branches. There are 45 1/2 square peds inside the trunk at level 1 - the base of the tree. The bark here is a third of a ped thick, and the distance to the center of the tree, which is hollow (about .15 peds wide, continuing the height of the tree and deep underground, filled with vine cable for elevators) is 3.8 peds. The door in level one is half a ped high, half a ped wide, and leads to a hallway around the center a quarter of a ped wide, around which there are five elevators that go directly to level 115, the first branch. These elevators are a quarter of a ped square. Smaller elevators are used for intra-trunk travel. Around the tree is the tree circle, a cleared area 100 peds in diameter.

Sections of the "city" with approximate population:

   *

     Around the tree - 5,000
   *

Under the tree (sublevels, mostly storage and industry) - 2,000+
   *

In the main trunk - 1,500
   *

The upper trunk and branches - 240,000 total population: 250,000 - half the Brownie population of the Vale...

Usages. The Greenbark Moss' main usage is by the LLaoihrr (Vale Brownies). They collect the moss from the trees, careful not to overharvest any particular tree, then dry it out for about five days. When the moss is dried they grind it into a powder and use that as the basis for most of their cooking. The Brownies of ancient Birn also used the moss in this way.

Other races also use the moss; however as it shrinks dramatically in the drying process its use is uneconomical. The amount needed to feed one human could also be used to feed well over a thousand Brownies.

etc...

Ta'las

"The Shendar feints a weak blow at the man's throat, who twists away, exposing his left side. Ta'las stabs the man in the abdomen and upward into his heart."

Remember, a aj'nuvic is taller than a horse, you are sitting about half a ped higher than any rider on a horse, so you have to be quite acrobatic to fight like this ;)

How many are around? When do we have finished them all? What are we doing with those who are not dead? (Talia avoids to kill!)

Big situation there, Capher, is that at the given point, that person would be in the minority, and assaulted from all sides. Given the situation, Ken would be almost as likely to assist the robber as attack him. Definitely not a good idea. It would be a lot like when...

Ok Ken, understood.

Z'doth, have fun with spring break.

Talia I have not kept count of how many are down.  I think we should keep at least one alive, to find out what they were after?  If they were working for Garrek, or someone else or just themselves?

BTW where is Teri??

Ta'las, you will have to edit your post after what Talia just said about how tall you are riding upon an AJ.  Unless you are that acrobatic and more skilled than we imagined? :p

@Ta'las, sorry about you not having a good week.  RL can really be a pain sometimes.  Take care of yourself and come back strong.

Anyone heard from Teri?  Is her internet service out again, or is she on spring break as well?

Daytona Beach here I come, or Miami, or Cancun...I think of that Beach Boy song called Kokomo...Aruba, Bahama...come on pretty mama...we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow...way down in Kokomo.   Girls in bikini's or less:p  Guys with their chest and arm muscles popping out making the girls's day as well.  Yeah spring break!!:rollin

Remember those days, they come and go so fast.

It's mighty tempting to burst that little bubble, Capher... I won't yet.

Hi all,

Yes, I noticed what Matt mentioned.  Ta'las heard, and you're right, he was present when Teri first mentioned the elf that she and Morcaanan encountered.  He will realize it later this evening, but during the encounter with Matt, Ta'las was not thinking straight, and even now he is a little preoccupied.

Unless they were sent after Garrek, they could hardly be servants of the red elf, who is now another of Garrek's enemies. They are no longer allied, so... it could hardly be him, unless he thought Garrek was their friend.

I was thinking that since Ta'las hires himself out as a caravan guide for merchants, he might have met a couple in one of the major city centers like Bardavos, Strata or Uderza.  I realize that most hobbits stay close to home, but I would guess that at least some will have travelled to one of the cities.  If I'm mistaken, I can change my post.

Well, I'm no hobbit expert, but why should not one of these  few adventurous individuums of the little folk have come down till Bardavos or Uderza? There Ta'las could have at least met one. Maybe he had the oportunity to talk to him. Not all of our history has to be fixed.

Faberige or Meldarapple? ... It could hardly be faberige, too big. Meldarapple isn't that big, either, although it's considerably closer. Although, if it was, wouldn't someone have noted that's what it was?

Can't be meldarapple, that doesn't fit. Zdoth just said apple, but that doesn't sound right, either. Someone would have noted it before, wouldn't have they? Sorry, Talia; either you're going to have to figure this one out, or Dev. me a new plant entirely. I'll post once I know what it is.

I should have described it better. The faberige (strawberry?) would be a good choice, but I thought more on a kind of soft, red, sweet and juicy plum, which's skin easily bursts open if pressed too hard... ;)

We need more fruits in Santharia!

I do hope that satisfies you; the answer in words would be, yes, but remaining silent for him is every bit as bad as holding your breath for the rest of us. You could probably squeeze a couple of minutes of silence out of him, if you tried real hard. One thing I may have failed to not in my post is that in resuming speech, he does so fast and heavy, like a person coming back from holding their breath. It's that hard for him.

Meh. I'm not going to fault Ta'las for just moving on. It is interesting to note his complete lack of notice that, regardless of his tale, Ken is telling one, or rather a full myriad, of his own. Be that as it may.

We will simply have to assume that he gave some motion of agreement. To write it out would be a insensibly short post, and that simply does not feel proper.

I promise I will post tomorrow! for now I'm just to absent-minded.

Another night and a days ride to the vale - but we can do this quickly without a lot of riding inbetween. There we have to find the brownies who can cure me and who we will ask how to get access to the dwarves. There we will meet Eden who can be our key to enter the caves. However, I had planned to go to the dwarves first and then to Ximax to get Caphers power back, but that would mean, that Gar has to wait longer to be able to join... So maybe Capher feels the need to go to Ximax first? Or we try to get quite quickly out of the dwarven caverns..

Capher will want to go to the caves to find the Kruiks anvil more than he would to try and get his full power back, even though it puts him in more danger. Why? because he wants to help his master more than he thinks of the danger to himself.

So to the caves we go, then if Capher survives we go onto Ximax. Ok?

Just some advice, adds an interesting delema.  And where as i dont discount any of your fighting skills, there is NO way you can kill the ogre with out someone getting hurt/killed.  Ogres are natural killers, and because it has a weapon it has to be experianced.  Of course talia and i could be distractions and you all could do hit-and-run attacks, but that wouldnt hurt it too much, and it would take a long time.  But i'm just rambling.

Here's what I have on the ogre. He's skilled and aggressive - skulls, particularly as trophies; he's intelligent - hammer; he's not really focused, as in, willing to kill anyone but doesn't care who - keeps changing targets; he's not gonna fall easily.

If he gives chase, he will drop the hammer rather than sheathe it. He's spontaneous that way. However, if he sees a closer target that draws his attention, the chase will cease, focus will be shifted to a new target. This usually isn't a problem for him. It generally allows for a lot of his quarry to escape, but, being an ogre, not really get the combat advantage over him. However, I think we may have the advantage here, by, as Z'doth mentioned, hit-and-run attacks, if we're persistent enough. However, that would be rather monotonous posting.

Here's my run-down on the potential battles, done one-on-one with the ogre.

'Teri: Possible, if taken mostly from behind. Damage assured, considerable damage likely.

Ta'las: Possible from in front, considerable damage assured.

Talia: In current condition, not likely.

Terra(we have a lot of characters starting with "T"): Highly possible from behind, damage assured. Considerable damage assured if attacking directly.

Z'doth is out of the picture, unarmed. Capher is too weak. Ken could make the attempt, but fatality is almost assured on his part, and he may not take the ogre with him.

Ta'las has no intention of taking the ogre on one-on-one.  Instead, after seeing what 'Teri managed to do from behind, he will try to draw the ogre forward, fall back and allow others to attack while it is distracted.

What would you think, if we invite Eden to join us NOW, in this situation, though I have no idea, how she as cleric of Urtengor could be of help..
What do you think? Shall I alert her?

And we have another joining request which I cannot and want not decline...... Aurelius, Krean mage. I don't know, how he will fit in, noble as he is and dependent on his daily bath, but I would love to roleplay with him. (Coren, if you don't know him yet., well, Coren is his uncle.. )

Any objections?

Eden could help somehow and I have no objections to Krean.

I decided to do what Capher does best and that is shape-shift.  There are now two identical ogres in the valley.  However if you read my post Capher cannot hold onto the form for long.  He is hoping that another ogre showing up would be so much of a distraction for the rest of you to get away or be able to strike several fatal blows along with Capher's own attack, to not kill him, but maybe put him out of commission.

Eden, I do not know the powers she possesses, could come along and use weather somehow, maybe a lightning strike, if there is such a thing?  I dunno, just thinking.

BTW Next Thursday I head for the Mayo clinic in Minnesotta, another state for some experimental treatment for my MS.  If all goes well I should be back by the following Wed.  If not, well I will try and get online and give updates or I will have my son do it for me.  So, when that time comes, I am thinking that with my shapeshifting, I become too weak, fall into a coma or something like that and then you will have to decide whether or not if the brownies can help me as well as Talia.

Or for another thought the brownies tell you that the only healing for me is to go to Ximax and the orb.  Just a thought, you can decided amongst yourselves what you want to do.

Capher.

I also have no objections to either joining us at this time.  A little background and introduction will be needed to bring them into the story, but I don't think it should be too difficult.

Capher, I hope everything goes well for you in Minnesota.  Don't rush to come back, your health is top priority!

Also, I wonder if I overdid it - as Capher implied in his post - with Desert Rose being able to move forward and sidestep an attack so quickly.  I must admit I wasn't thinking about it, but perhaps an Aj'nuvic shouldn't really be able to move so nimbly.  Talia, do you have any comments on this?  If this post needs editing please let me know.

Ta'las, aj'nuvics are nimbler than horses, despite their size (maybe Faugar drew it a bit too massive). They combine the advantages of horses or camels with that of cats. They have paws, no hooves and  have the movements of predators.

Z'doth - do you know about Capher's shapeshifting abilites?

Krean is the tribe - Aurelian the name ;)

OK, I write Luca immediately....

of course i do, and Zdoth does, but not to it's full extent, it scared him senseless the first time, and every other time he hasnt seen it.  Magic scares him and he doesnt understand it, so he just assumes it's another ogre, i just put Capher in there so that everyone else doesnt get confused.

EDIT: Ahh i see now, fixed the little bit of him knowing it was capher.  sorry about that.

Suddenly, a heavy oaken chair with legs shuffles in, cursing and mumbling with a slight yet baritone voice. The chair lands with a resounding chuhnk on the floor and a solid, bearded woman heaves herself up and onto the little seat. She looks around, preening her various braids, and smiles sweetly.

And how, pray tell, are we going to do that? I was just about to finish it off in this post, but now you make that statement, I wait for your wisdom. I don't know of any of us that have anything heavy enough to do that. Well, Terra could probably find a good spot if she could get up on it, but she's in no condition to do that. The rest of us would really take too long trying.

I guess I could have Ken make a luck shot there, he's prone to that kind of thing, but with what? He wouldn't be able to throw a stone hard enough to make that kind of difference, I don't think he's got a sling, and even if he did, he's a melee combatant. So... knock it out? Okay, how?

Title: Re: No kill ogre?
Post by: Ta'lia of the Seven Jewels on May 18, 2006, 07:25:23 PM
Well, I'm a person who always tries to avoid killing, if it is possible. Killing is the easy way out. If you can kill him, why can't you hurt him in a way, that he can't follow us, but doesn't have to die? Talia would be very unhappy if he has to die because of her mindlessness. I could give him another shot with the sling, but I doubt, that it would bring him down for long.
Well, I could do it, and you find a way to pin him down for the time we need to leave the place?
Maybe tieing his hammer into a tree, so that he needs some time to retrieve it would distract him enough to not to follow us?

Do we have any magic available to bind him? Eden?

depending on how much time we have, i could probably whipup some sort of poison that wont kill him (my arrows are poisoned, but used to take out deer and such, so it would take a lot of arrows to kill him)  Or i could shot him with a few more arrows to weaken him.  but that's just a suggestion

Tying the hammer wouldn't do any good. He makes as many attacks without as with, it's only a handy weapon for when he has it. Poison would do, but like Z'doth vaguely mentioned, it would take a mammoth dosage.

We'll see what we can do. If we can put it out, we can put it out. If not... it won't be following us either way.

Eden could cast a spell upon a weapon (would have to be a larger weapon, a club/mace/etc) that could make it more powerful/heavy, and could do considerable damage to the beast.

I think perhaps if the ogre has any rock on him (would the skulls count) she could weigh him down for a time.

I'll write my introduction post now, regardless, just so I can get in there :biggrin

Mortus, I think you need a break with Terra, you have been this long with me playing here, the only companion from the beginning without break. I propose, that you stay in the vale of the Brownies as long as we are going to the dwarves. As soon as we are coming back, you can join us again and maybe your head injuries are healed out and Capher can tell you more about your past - and you can face it? You surely have new energy then to play her , what do you think?

Teri, we need your next post now..

OK, I'm partly back.. we still have holidays here, so no undisturbed mornings..

What we need to decide is in which part of the year we are in, especially when we travel northwards. Maybe winter forces us to stay at Ximax  - or in this region, over the winter?I  thought, that we shorten the visit of the local dwarves and visit the Zirgurhim(?) looking for some information there, or any adventure.. Judy's desciptions are so tempting!

Sorry for not posting...once again but it seems that those who love and care for me decided it was in my best interest to not tell me that while I was going through my own tests, my father-in-law passed away from cancer, he did not even know he had it, and it took him in less than three weeks.

Then this morning I was woken up by a phone call...you know when the call is really early in the morning it is not good...anyway, my wife's step-mother passed away.

I knew them both very well and Matt, he was my wifes father, he and I got along really well...he had just turned sixty-five and had just celebrated his 37th wedding anniversary.  Laurie's mom, Laurie by the way is my wifes name for those who do not know, she is in her 70's, 90 percent blind, but she is very strong in the Lord.  She just spent a ten days with Laurie and now she is going home to pack Matt's things and stuff.  She is from Oklahoma and she does have two of her sons living in the same city she is from and she has alot of friends besides her church family.

I guess it is Matt I think most of... He was a quiet man, but a steady man, a man from the "old school" if you please.  He worked right up to the day he could no longer get out of bed.

This is the type of man Matt was, he married Laurie's mom when she had six kids living on her own,(her first husband was an alchoholic and abuser) he took care of them all, they even had a son between them, so he had seven children he took care of; Laurie was the oldest.  He never once complained, never took a look back, worked two, sometimes three jobs to support his family.  He had a dry sense of humor, but once you understood it, it was funny.  He was always smiling and when you met him you were greeted with a strong handshake and hearty welcome.  After that if he spoke it was seldom, but when he did, he spoke softly, intelligently, and with a tremendous amount of wisdom though he never graduated from high-school.

I am going to miss him...tremendously.

Betty, Laurie's step-mom, was a gruff old lady, but she had the kindest and most generous heart I had ever met.  She will be missed as well.

Why am I telling you all this, a group of strangers, yet somehow there are those here who are very dear friends to me, and you know who you are.  It is just that when you have on-line friends that you talk to more than your RL ones, at least in my case that is, you need to talk to someone and I needed to get this off my chest.  I apologize to anyone who may think this is not the forum to discuss such things.

When you are young, you think you are invincible, at least that is how most young people drive and behave from what I have seen, but when you reach my age, your friends, relatives, even movie stars that you adore, begin to slowly pass away and you start to think...when is it going to be my time?  When will the Lord of Heaven call me home and will I be ready?  Do I wish to live even if my quality of life will not improve or be worse?  Do I sign a "do not ressucitate order" if I go to the hospital.  Do I think about being an organ donor, though with my disease, they would not take me.  But I could donate me body to science, but do I want to?

These questions and more may seem morbid and I again apologize to you who think so, but those are questions that I am asking myself and even more so now.

I am sorry for spilling out such personal feelings...but I consider you family and I guess I needed to talk and vent some of my anger, frustration, sadness, and thoughts.

Capher.

*sigh*

Well, let us move on to the valley.
I'm not here from tomorrow to Sunday and might not be able to post. Either go on and puppet me, either of you, I think you know me by now, or just think about, how we can have a short, but nice little intermezzo in the vale before we are going on to the dwarves of the Rimmerin's Ring. Please read up all info about them and the Brownies meanwhile.

Vale-Brownies

Council tree

Map!!!

Brownie clans

There exists no entry yet about the Kurakim Dwarves, all what we have is here:

The Tenthrum Clan

TENTHRUM CLAN, THE ("STRONGPICK")
Dwarven clan located at the western part of the Rimmerins Ring, just east of Kor Donion and the Vale of Brownies - there exists much trade between this clan and the Brownies. They often have the latest Brownie technologies, and some long-standing friendships have developed between dwarf and Brownie craftsmen in their respective fields. As a result, the Tenthrums have a reputation for being the "liberals" of the dwarves, and are looked on with some mild suspicion by the other clans. Of course, the fiercely loyal nature of Thergerim society means that outsiders would never be able to exploit that suspicion to their advantage... "They'se may be odd uns," as one old Boltgrumm Granny was overheard to say, "but they'se our odd uns..." Return to the top

Of course you know all about the dwarves from the general entries, I'm sure ;)

I will do a post today later.

Eden will just shut her mouth and mumble to herself, going off to do her own thing. She, of course, will follow the party in the efforts of getting a chance to speak to Capher.

Travellers, you cna still choose the time of the year, we have not decided about that!
What about late summer, the winter will force us to stay somewhere - maybe in Ximax or with the dwarves of that peninsula?(after we have visited the rimmering dwarves)

I thought about our stay in the vale and I have some good ideas about the treatment the Brownies will give Talia and Terra.
But to play outr visit properly, we need some NPC's. I will comeup with some tomorrow and every one of us should play them or one in particular (we will see). Just take some of the time you would ned to post your char.
Teri, if you have plans with Garrek and his companions - they will count as your NPCs!

I have no idea yet, how to get some action in the play for those, who have to wait till Terra and Talia are in their "life-magic" treatment. A guest-char (brownie) would be nice. I can try to ask for one again..

it is so hot here, I can't think clearly..
