Title: á é í ó ú .. and sometimes ý! Post by: Alýr (Rayne) on August 08, 2003, 01:14:22 PM All right, some people have recently been curious on how those funny letters are made. You know, the ones with the little flick above them? You see them in words like Kaýr, cár'áll, and Coór. They are used commonly in the language of the elves, called styrásh, and show up in a lot around here! You can make them in a number of ways, but the easiest I've found is through what most people call alt codes. Each letter, even those that don't have a little flick above them, have an alt code, as well as a number of symbols like these: © ‹ ¢
To make these symbols, first make sure that your number lock (Num Lock) is on, or else it won't work. Then, push down on the alt key and push the letter's code in on the number pad (to the right of your keyboard), then let go of alt. The code of these letters (alt codes) are as follows: á = 160 é = 130 í = 161 ó = 162 ú = 163 ý = 0253 Try them out! Edited by: Rayne Avalotus ![]() Title: Re: á é í ó ú .. and sometimes ý! Stupid ezboard can't even handle our power. It puts in '?' when it should be a cool square-root sign-like vee. I can dig that, Eryk. Surely this can also be achieved just by holding down the Alt Gr Key? At least it can on every other keyboard I've used. Doesn't work with "y" though, just the vowels.
