Title: ~THE SANTHARIAN RISK TOURNEY~
Post by: Takashi Logan on October 20, 2005, 08:31:22 AM
The Santharian Risk Touney

The Rules

All games will be organized here
The games will start at a time to be determined amongst the contestants later.
There will be no late arrivals
All turn timers will be 10 minutes
A game is not official unless at least three (maybe four?) Santharian members are in it.
The winner of each match reports the battle report in this thread.
We establish points for wins/ranking in each battle. (Example: In a four player game: 3 points for First, 2 for Second, 1 for Third, 0 for Last. I'm thinking Last place is always 0 and we just go up by one for each rank, no matter how many players there are. So, in a six player game First place would get 5 points.)

Any persons wishing to join should go to this link.
Risk

1st group
Takashi
NecroMage
Pikel
Luca(Faymond)
Garrion
Dasson(Rheine)
Erian (Tomas)
Aran

Title: Official IRC Risk Announcer and General Rules
Post by: Bahran the big on October 20, 2005, 11:53:22 AM
Through brutal force of will and a mighty command of the English language a young man rose through the ranks and established himself as the official Risk Announcer of the Santharia IRC channel.

This young man would later become a force to be reckoned with. This man would later become Bahran the big.

Now, on a note regarding tournaments... We need to establish a point system and keep track of it.

I will suggest that we establish these as general rules. However, they are naturally up for debate/discussion.

1. A game is not official unless at least three (maybe four?) Santharian members are in it.
2. The winner of each match reports the battle report in this thread.

That's all I can think of right now. If you can think of any additional rules or amendments to the ones I have suggested or anything of that sort, just say so.

Can we declare a draw (*ahem* between the two remaining members of an alliance, mayhaps?). If so, it should be limited to only two players... if there's a third, they have to die.

Title: Draws and Times
Post by: NecroMage on October 21, 2005, 12:02:22 AM
Speaking of Draws: in the case of a draw being declared between the last 2 members of the game they should each recieve the amount of points that they'd get had the other defeated them (ie: a 6 player game ending in a draw would yield 0 for the loser, 1 for second last, 2 for the middle player 3 for the last to die and 4 for each of the drawing parties)

Also, to insite not ending in a draw EVERY game, the winner should recieve two points higher than the second place finisher (ie: in the example above second place would still get 4, but first place would get 6)

Time: the earliest I am ever able to get online is roughly 6pm AST and that's rare. I usually get on at around 9-10 AST. thus, 7 EST makes me a sad panda. Especially if homework's involved.

Title: Draws AND Times
Post by: Bahran the big on October 21, 2005, 03:25:22 AM
I would suggest that maybe would shouldn't even have official times set before hand. As long as there are enough people willing to play there should be a game.

As for the draw thing: that sounds good. The winner recieving one extra point sounds good too.

I wish to be part of this tourney.  Also, what is with the "1st Group"?

Okay, ill add you gar.

The 1st group, should we get enough people in this, I'd like to do some elimination.

The first official Match, if its okay with everyone, will be a 4 person match.

I will give everyone a number and do a random dice roll to see who the matchups are.

Post by: Julian Darkthorn on October 21, 2005, 11:01:22 AM
Fix my name. My Name is NOT Necro_Mage, it's NecroMage and the next person to include the underscore will recieve a swift kick to the face and a bullethole in the temple!

Insanity's a blessing, without it I'd probably go crazy

Hey! What about me? I distinctly remember being apart of the Risk games the other day.:devilish  I even wiped the floor with Bahran after everyone else left. So, could my name be added to the list? I assume that I'm not on it due to pinging when Taka originally posted this thread.

Fine! The truth is that Bahran had me crying like a little girl and calling him daddy after only a few turns!

wait a tick....

My internet time is screwy....i get on and off depending on my dad's schedule. I do not appreciate having "YOU PLAY TONIGHT BECAUSE ME SAY SO!!" dictated to me.

If i am there, i am there....if i can't make it...tough.

It would be suggested that you find out OTHER peoples schedules Takashi....not just base it selfishly around your own.

Suggestion:

Have a weekly schedule.  If you wish.  In this schedule, have what 1-3 games a week.  Give people a weeks notice, thus they can find a replacement or switch spots with another person.

For example of a set-up:

Game NumberPlayersGame TimePoints
1.1

1.2

1.3
Bah
Gar
Das
Eri

Bah
Taka
Pikel
Necro

Taka
Gar
Luca
Aran

Start Time 7-8pm EST
Fri Oct 21

5-6pm EST
Sun Oct 23

4-5am EST
Sun Oct 23
2
4
0
1

The game times would be posted a week or two ago, settled on a at least 5 days ahead.  Thus allowing themembers who can easily play in atime frame with others the chance to switch with other people.

So when there's people, you play. Ta daa! :biggrin

Also sounds good.  And the winners report the point spread of those who played.

I have an edition to my scoring idea. about draws.

I'll still use the above example, where second was 4 and first was 6. Instead of drawers each getting 4, they should get 5, thus creating reason to draw rather than just go on trying to win and risking nothing. second and a draw can't be equal if they're both to ever happen

Or perhaps one could change it to allow both players to recieve equal points in the event of a draw. Scheduling would be nice, because then we wont have to worry about santharians randomly jumping into a game.
As for everyone who was in the second risk match last night, i appologize for my abscense. I was rudley pulled off the computer by an evil and vile younger sibling... >:

Um, Taka, you misunderstand.

Winner: 6 points
Last 2 DRAW: each 5
Second: 4
Third: 3
Fourth: 2
Fifth: 1
Sixth: 0

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I didn't word that well : /
