Title: The Guestbook - Please sign up here
Post by: Caol Johannes on June 30, 2009, 06:35:48 AM
Dearest Friend,

It is with great sadness that I invite you to attend the funeral of the recently passed personage of dear old Dagmar Johannes. This great noble, of sound character and heritage, has left this beautiful disk after 53 cycles upon its surface, on the second day of Burning Heavens. He is survived by his only son, Caol Johannes. He kept good standing among the nobility, and will be remembered for his hospitality and kindness to his fellow man. Ceremonies in his memory shall begin at Sundrown on Folkday the eleventh day of Sleeping Dreameress, at the Nyermeran estate of the Johannes family. Refreshments will be provided as we commemorate the life of one of Nyermersys' finest. We are in great hopes that you will attend, may Ava bless you.

Your Dear Friend,

Those wishing to play in Death's Invitation must post here first with a short description of their character. You're request will be reviewed, and upon acceptance into this story you shall receive one anomynous unsigned letter, in the above fashion. There is a maximum of 15 players for this story, so please post soon before spots fill up. Thank you.

Overview
Thorin Broadfist is a “Kavoninn Yabarrah”, or Traveling Bachelor, currently wandering around Southern Sarvonia with Gregory, his donkey. He is from the Mithral Mountains and is a blacksmith by trade, which he employs whenever he can. He's a bit of a loner due mainly to the lack of traveling dwarves but mainly because of bad experiences. He is slow to make friends with nondwarves, but to those he does befriend he honors that bond to extreme lengths. And it should be noted that he always carries his smithy hammer on him and treasures it above his other possessions.

Salkazrian is a one-armed swordswoman.  She has been in the Seyelite army for most of her life, and was involved in the war against the Ash'mari barbarians and Losh-Oc orcs.  She is a good thinker and an experienced leader.

Though she is genuinely kind and outgoing most of the time, she sometimes suffers from depression and withdraws into herself.  She enjoys a joke, and has a rather bawdy sense of humour.

Currently living in Hog and married with two children.

Hope you've got room for her!

CD: http://santharia.com/startup_new/mainframe.htm

Email: Sheepherdingmonkey@Hotmail.com

Scriabin can be summarily classified as a thinker, as he doesn't tarry any of his thoughts with the more normal animal urges and emotions. There aren't any powerful physical abilities, no magic, no tracking skills or weapon skills, yet it would be prudent to mention that he is at least mediocre in the unarmed martial art of Leranta(native to Rhulrans).

Aside from his mastery over his own impulses and rather uncanny ability to save others from their own hate, his true love is music. The music that he composes requires paramount discipline, technique, endurance, and ingenuity of interpretation to play. So, apparently, seeing as his compositions require a rather substantial mastery to play well, he is very, very well practiced with the variety of instruments he plays. Currently, he owns a Fíoelì and Fíoelà. Both instruments are described in the cd.

Is there room for a scimitar-wielding desert woman with a somewhat lacking understanding of Tharian?

Toama is fierce and independent, although she likes company and friends to talk with. Once someone has moved past the stage of 'acquaintance' and into 'friend', she will be fiercely loyal to them, before that she will just be polite (which doesn't always work, due to her lacking Tharian).

CD can be found in sig :)

Foraste is a traveling writer and researcher for the compendium, he would be covering the funeral of the old man and making an article for him. He is quit and cautious, but stubborn about things that he feels strongly about (almost everything). He is always traveling and carries a pet rat. His main skills are his knowledge and skill with a bow. He has a painful scar and hates fire mages.

Grial is an orc , member of a race despised by most .
But he is also a member of the Orcristh , the black orcs , a tribe that known for its honor and Grial is almost a legend amongst them.
Powerful and wise , the old orc was making its final journey before death when he rescued a child from robbers , giving his word to the child dying guardian that she would be delivered to her mother , the orc felt that just maybe he could redeem himself for the lives he had taken during its lifetime , after all what greater deed if not to save an innocent ?

Zealous and caring the orc still journey with Lyra , always searching for her mother and with his two handed mace "Scarlet Crusher " , nothing will stand in front of his goal .

Hope you remind in case you have a spot !!!

As I remembered (it would be nice to have someone who is supposed to be a local in this entourage, no?) to join up! I think 15 was the number of players you mentioned earlier, but I'll hope there's a spor for Eyimon anyways.

Eyimon Brightsword of the House Sorossa, White Knight, Defender of the Peace and Upholder of the Law, Paragon of Knightly Virtue and all-around really good person. Except he has no concept of "human evil" or treachery, preferring to remain fixed on those loftier goals properly befitting a knight. He's absolutely dedicated to good, and at a complete loss when it comes to women.

Any room for a hobbit?
Jenna, a tall (by halfling standards at least )young lady with a dash of human ancestry, is outwardly friendly, peaceful and cheerful like most of her folk. However she can be stubborn and far too inquisitive for her own good. She's fast but weak, an excellent swimmer with a phobia of fire and has a little skill with the blade but more with the pen.

She makes her living as a bardic jack-of-all trades, telling tales, writing, singing and playing the lute, though her true dream is to become a published and respected author. As such, she relishes any new experience as she loves to learn new things, though she's happier to let others take the lead while she records their deeds than actively lead anything herself. This mysterious invite and venture into the silvermarshes would thrill her literary, story-loving mind, and of course she'd be fascinated to meet with a different hobbit tribe and maybe even the curious mullogs.

Post by: Deklitch Hardin on July 09, 2009, 08:23:49 AM
Any chance of a place for an adolescent youth, previously of Black Butterfly Rover fame? If so, allow me to introduce you to Dek!

Dek, full name Deklitch Hardin, is many things: an acrobot; a risk taker; and a thrill seeker chief among them. Some merchants and other pillars of various societies, have even referred to him as a <censored> Rover, although this red haired youth has never been caught stealing anything. He is proud of his heritage and past as a Rover, and allows the tattoo of the black butterfly on his right arm, just below his shoulder blade, to be seen. His acrobatic days should be behind him, since he suffered an injury to his left ankle after performing one trick too many. Should and is are two different things when it comes to this young scallywag who relies on his reflexes and speed to get out of most situations. If forced to fight, he has a pair of daggers that he uses, not that he's very skilled in their use, but so far he has avoided getting himself skilled. He is normally a happy go lucky lad, but there are times he regrets his limited knowledge of his mother. After spending some time down south, he is now returning closer to his mother's home ... and, who knows, may some day know more about her.

Post by: Galthas on July 16, 2009, 02:03:15 AM
Galthas is a fat dwarven healer who is rather outgoing for a dwarf. His mission in life is to help releive suffering whenever and wherever he can find it, but he does sometimes leave his small apothecary in the Mithral Mountains to have a bit of fun in other places. Always enjoying a joke and having a great sense of humor, Galthas is described by most everyone he meets as likeable.

Galthas has a cat, Almond, that he brings with him wherever he goes, so he will be bringing her to the funeral. The dwarf usually finds it hard to keep up with all of the friends he makes on his travels, so it would probably only strike him as slightly odd to receive a letter about a dead friend's funeral that he has been invited to attend, and he would definitely come.

Thank you for asking me to come.

Post by: Grom Hazl'r on July 20, 2009, 11:26:33 AM
Overview:
Grom is a fire mage who doesn't like using magic. He will when there's nothing else he can do, but he prefers to rely on his own skill (however little he has) than to use the ability to wield magic. Grom is also most certainly a recluse and prefers solitude to a party. An injury causes him to be almost always hunched over, which contributes to why he spends much of his time by himself. Which he spends either reading, writing, or thinking, not wanting to waste time working out the complexities of having a "social life". While this may make him seem shy, and causes him to be a bit depressed at times, he really is a rather cheery companion (most of the time). This, however, is weighed down by the fact that he has no inhibitions about speaking his mind about whatever subject you may end up conversing about. Many end up believing that besides being a shy, depressed, loner, that he is also condescending and thinks himself above others even though he tries his best to help others. However, Grom perseveres while attempting to find his place in life.

OK, and again I'm very sorry about what happened and I'll be waiting for chapter 2 to get up and running. I understand that it is very subjective as to how each post plays out, but do you have an approximate time as to when it will happen? If not that's fine, but I was just wondering.

Post by: Allia on July 23, 2009, 09:36:52 AM
Is there room for me? I promise I don't take up much space.

Allia is fifteen nailsbreadths of wit, determination, and occasionally, stubbornness. She is nothing if not sociable, at home among thousands of brownies, and thinks little of piping up in any social gathering. A kind heart keeps her from using lethal poisons on her blowpipe darts and even makes her hesitate to use the non-lethal ones that are her standard fare. Her talents lie with her quick wit and her ease at taming and handling foxes; her only companion is an equally quick witted yet more mischievous red fox named Todd. The little brownbark brownie should be living at home in her forest with her family still and would be but for the one thing that is not there, her love, Mithril. She will do whatever it takes to bring that errant greybark skydiver home.

Well, I think we might find room to squeeze a Brownie in here somewhere, seeing as you did promise. ;)

There is room in the story, and I'd love to have you. Could you send me a quick PM letting me know how you'd like to enter the banquet? Seeing as you're a guest of very unusual size, we'd need some way to keep all us tall folk from overlooking you.

@Galthas: I will have something for you and Thorin as soon as the banquet finishes. In the meantime I'll try to get in touch with you both with some more ideas for your parts. Just don't clutter up the guestbook with anymore off-topic posts. :)

EDIT: I totally forgot about you up there, Grom. There is room for you as well. You'll start off in the banquet, and make sure to check your PMs (on all your accounts ;) ).

Post by: Grail Monhart on July 26, 2009, 11:54:10 PM
Good afternoon to you all you lovely people! If you've got some space for a young, but accomplished assassin, Caol, I'd be willing to help out.

Grail Monhart is a young man of some twenty two years of age. Born and raised a street urchin he wants more from life, but can't seem to find himself a better occupation than the one he was practically born into. A devout worshiper of the Goddess of Death, and an incredible informant on and off the streets of Nyermersys, this guy has no problem with killing someone if the price is right. Even dressed in rags, and equipped with only a beautiful armoured fan, he can turn even the most simple of killing methods into an elaborate dance. If you need someone killed in an indiscreet fashion, or if you want information on the who's and what's of the city, you know who to look for. If you see a servant or innkeeper ask for the Monarch, they'll know where to direct you.

Unless the cogs of things have started turning too far already, I've been titled literally hours ago and would love to take part in this story.

Is there a place for a magically adept and hopelessly lost foreign bodyguard among the ranks of the invitees?

Yep, you have the last spot in this chapter, my friend. Just be sure to post your entrance pretty soon, so we can get your character involved quickly. And post your contact info, too.

Announcement:

From this point onward, any players we are accepting will have to join into the story at a later chapter. There are subplots which allow for the inclusion of more players, but there will be a wait involved until the story has come to a point where more players can be added. If you are interested, just post here as usual and I'll talk things over with you concerning your character's entrance.

Also, I am looking for some dwarven players/guest stars for one of the aforementioned subplots to the story. Just PM me if you think you'd like to help out, though again there may be a wait before the subplot begins.

Thank you.

Any room for a half-elven bounty hunter?

A Half-elf who is considered outsider to most, terror to many, and friend to but a few. Sylvia has sharp features and flowing nor'sidian hair with a single cy'hallowian snow lock in the front on her right side. She has a strong, lithe build, and is fairly skilled with two weapons: the double kilij, and cooran'loh. She dresses in an array of solid nor'sidian clothing and wears a white crescent moon pendant, tied to string around her neck, made by her father. She has what people call a truly short fuse and the fact that she never knew her father haunts her from day to day.

Here is the overview. If I can join, just let me know. :)
