Title: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Drea on January 28, 2010, 03:23:12 PM
To all those interested in joining this story, please post an application here. :)

I would like to enter and use Ylaya for this story. Any places for an assassin to take or spy, I suppose there are many?

Welcome Ylaya.   Feel free to use the Spitball room to throw out some ideas so that we are all on the same page. :D

Title: Re: The Palace Application Thread
Post by: Dax Darksteel on January 29, 2010, 02:21:40 AM
Once i complete my Dax Darksteel i'd like to join in as well (just because of the freedom concept), i don't have a clue as to wat his role would be as of yet. Perhaps just a visitor of the city who accidently gets caught in some kind of dubious plot. I'l first try and finish Dax, i am gonna work him towards Santhala while i am still doing his history...

Nicely done with the storytelling Drea, i don't know if i am capable of telling the story in the same manner because my native language isn't english but i'l do my best (a different style) . When i have some good ideas of the direction i wanna make it go i'l post it on the Spitball room.

And Drea, you forgot to post an OOC, which might be useful, or does the spitball room serve that purpose as well?

Anyway i'l be seeing you...

When you are finally approved, feel free to post an application again, Dax. :)

Not to worry about the manner of story telling.  Practice makes perfect and the more you write in English, the easier it will become.

And yes, the Spitball Room is the OOC.  I may have to make that a bit more clear.

I always wanted to run a small tavern at one point in my life, maybe I can start as serving girl?  :D

Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on February 03, 2010, 04:11:06 PM
Perhaps Kalina could be one of the Scholars/Writers/Musicians for one of the Embassies?

I know my CD isn't "complete", but it is back on my drawing board and much of what is already written will not change other than rewording. If need be, I can place a basic write up tomorrow for more clarification :)

Oh yes!

I'm sure either embassy could use your talents.  *leans in and whispers*  Though I hear there's a party coming up in the Nermeran Embassy.  Gonna need some entertainment there. ;)

Minoki- A compendium writer now forced to work as a serving girl? Boy, this girl's come down in the world ain't she?   You're hired!

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Ylva Rasmussan on February 03, 2010, 05:35:03 PM
Kalina-

I'm going to create a post later today, where Dorian Noone is forced by Quinn to go do real work and find him some damn proper musicians at The Courtyard, if you like he can run into you there and ask you to help him.

Once at the party, either Fruwee or Tristram could hire you as a writer or scholar (hell, after hearing that you're a writer, they'll probably start trying to outbid each other!). You could even become the Nermeran Ambassador's new Personal Secretary or Castellan Assistant.

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Kalína Dalá'isyrás on February 03, 2010, 11:24:37 PM
The only issue with the Courtyard, is it isn't the type of environment Kalina would be drawn to, especially at her age and experiences. Sophistication and hierarchies is something which would pull her more than a Tavern.

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Drea on February 03, 2010, 11:31:54 PM
Then don't feel you are limited to simply posting in the Tavern.  Was only a suggested starting point.  If Kalina wouldn't go there, then simply approach one of the embassies.  I'm sure one of the Castellans, or their assistants, will take care of you. :)

Yep, I shall see what I can get posted tonight :)

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Minóki Kíuru on February 03, 2010, 11:40:59 PM
Ylva - I'm not forced to be a serving girl. It is more that I research what kind of people live here in New Santhala, or Santharia in general - and where is this better possible than in a tavern at the courtyard?

Apart from that, I need some extra money. I have not delivered a lot of reports lately, they still wait for the Himiko to be written and all the other Northern stuff. No work, no money ;)

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Ylva Rasmussan on February 04, 2010, 12:28:46 AM
Kalina- What Drea said, was only suggestion, but if your player is suited to sophistication and hierarchies, that's fine too.

No worries ^.^ Perhaps she shall visit the area at some point.

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Eyimon Sorossa on February 05, 2010, 12:10:53 AM
I'd honestly like to try to see if I could get both Sorossa brothers into this. Though Eyimon would be unable to work for either side. Sacred oaths and all that. Syvaein could work for either. Everyone likes fireworks after all. Except when they burst in their face.

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Drea on February 05, 2010, 12:47:58 AM
Welcome then.  As stated, there is a party in the works over at the Nermeran Embassy.

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Foraste Lydan on February 06, 2010, 02:45:28 AM
Foraste is probably qualified to work at either of the embassies. Perhaps as a secretary or aide?

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Ylva Rasmussan on February 06, 2010, 03:10:28 AM
Foraste- As you can see in the Wanted Ads, both Embassies  are looking for Personal Secretaries for their Ambassadors if you feel like applying. Perhaps you could write a post about him turning up to apply for a job in the Vardynn embassy, or have him turn up to the party?

Eyimon Sorossa- I think the older brother could definately work there as a firestarter, entertaining people with his tricks at the party at the Nermeran embassy. He could even just be there for political reasons, though the CD you wrote for him perhaps indicates that he does not wish to follow in his father's footsteps into politics. The younger brother could just be a guest at party if liked, he's a member of the Order of the White Knights is he not?

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Eyimon Sorossa on February 06, 2010, 03:16:38 AM
Indeed, Eyimon is a white knight. Syvaein would be there just to show off pretty lights. No intentions to do anything about anything. Strictly entertainment. Unfortunately for his tastes political folks are probably the only ones who could afford his services easily.

Post by: Salkazrian on February 07, 2010, 11:22:20 PM
Hi,

I think that this story would suit Salkazrian a treat!  She's an officer in the Seyelite army, so I'm sure that there would be quite a few ways for her to get involved.  Maybe she could be working as a personal bodyguard?

Anyway, I'd love to join with Salk, if you'll let me!   :)

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)
Post by: Drea on February 07, 2010, 11:49:26 PM
Welcome, Salk. :D

Feel free to join in the festivities.  I hope you have read the instructions to the format here.  This is not your typical you post-I post type story.  A bit more freedom here.

Let us know what your thoughts or ideas are on how you would like to get in on the fun.

Ylaya, we're still watching to see how you get out of the tavern room yet with a dead body. :P

Post by: Jenna Silverbirch on February 08, 2010, 12:02:18 AM
Hullo!

Don't suppose there's room for a hobbit amongst all this big folk political intrigue? I'm sure Jenna would try to make herself useful as a scribe and speech-writing sort of person for all these embassy whatchamacallits, while slyly observing all those intriguing political undercurrents that could prove such good fodder for her stories, providing she could get everyone to take her seriously.
I'd also be interested in creating some hobbit embassies, if it'd be allowed.

Thanks for your time,
   -Jenna

Post by: Salkazrian on February 09, 2010, 03:22:54 AM
Thanks, Drea.   :)

I'm still thinking about what kind of story I want to develop here.  I'll probably introduce an NPC who has employed Salk as a bodyguard, (maybe a wealthy merchant who she knows), enter the party, and then take it from there.

If that rather loose plan is acceptable, then I'll get started on an opening post!

Title: Re: The Vetting Process (The Palace Application Thread)

Been watching this with some interest.  Was wondering if a Remusian embassy would be acceptable?  I have a few NPC friends I can bring with me from Frozen Darkness, if Alt allows it.  I would need some time to think out a proper storyline and to create the embassy in my head first, if I'm accepted. :D

Post by: Ylva Rasmussan on March 08, 2010, 11:51:57 AM
A Remusian embassy? Sound fascinating! You certainly have enough experience! Of course you can join, bring as many NPCs as you like. You'll be made a story-mod cause you need to be able to create and edit your own topics and you don't want to have to PM me or Drea every time you want to do something like that! Welcome aboard, have a cookie! :)

Like I said, I need to formulate some plans before I jump in. :D   And a Mod?  Wow, Alt doesn't even let me help Mod FD. :P

And thank you for the cookie.  *looks about for rogue orcs*

Post by: Tervild Jorek on March 11, 2010, 08:32:44 AM
Hello Drea and Ylva,

As an actor, I think Tervild might be able to fit into this story nicely considering he's looking for other Entertainers to work with him. If you guys still have room for one more entertainer than I'd be happy join up, and start out at either of the Embassies or at the Courtyard. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Good day to both you Lady Drea, and Madame Ylva,

I'm interested in joining the lovely story you've got running here. I'm not entirely sure what part a forsworn knight could play in all this political intrigue, but I'd be honored if you guys could find a spot for me to fill up. Maybe a little bodyguard work, or entertainment for the nobles would suit him best, but I'd be willing to follow whatever role you ladies hand to me.

After careful consideration, and debate that lasted long into the night, it was determined that you may both join. :)  Let us know where you feel your talents best lie, and we can start integrating yo into our little soap opera.

Post by: Cár'scál Sae'llán on March 23, 2010, 08:29:18 AM
Thank you very much for your consideration Drea, I look forward to working with you.

As for talents, Cár'scál is a skilled enough swordsman, and knight. He could probably operate as a bodyguard for a caravan, the entertainers or for any envoy you would like. He's also an extremely skilled singer, and could probably serve as entertainment for the various sects in the game.

I was thinking it might be good to start him off at the Tavern so he can pick up a job or something, but I can start however you'd like for me to. I'm at your service and you can feel free to start me off wherever you so please. Feel free to PM me with any questions comments or concerns that you might have.

Thanks Drea for letting me in on the action around here.

As for skills, Tervild is an actor and magician, so he can fit in with the entertainers. I'm sure either the Nermeran or Vardynn Embassy would have a spot for him. If you've got any thoughts or ideas on how to integrate him I'd love to hear it. You can PM me, and we'll discuss it over some tea and biscuits, so to speak.

Post by: Thaelel Swordmar on April 03, 2010, 07:30:52 PM
As I said in spitball room:

Hi everyone

If possible, once Thaelel is approved, I would like him to join an embassy, possibly as an ambassador's personal guard, maybe the "Captain of Ambassador’s Personal Guard" as you suggested in the Palace Ads thread (if that post isn't too senior and hasn't been taken) or the guard of a target of an assassin. Maybe I could then follow the assassin after they have completed their "hit", and eavesdrop on their conversations, getting myself well and truly stuck in the complex plots of the palace. Just a few ideas.

Thanks,

Thaelel

Good afternoon ladies,

It's been a full ten days, but I've received no messages, no conformations, and no information pertaining to what I should be doing. In short I'm inclined to believe that I'm on stand by until either Drea or Ylva decide to put me somewhere. If either of you could get back to me, it would be appreciated.

Cár'scál Sae'llán,

I'm sorry but you're not on stand-by, as stated by Drea in their welcome message, this is a different type of story, we're not putting you anywhere, you choose, you can write your own storylines, You could immediatly start writing in the tavern if you like, or if you do want to be part of the Nermeran story, I can think up ways for your character to be involved, PM me for further details,

Do you have room for a merchant and his nephew from far off Xaramon Province? We could deliver supplies to the different embassies, spread rumours and innuendo (some of which could even be true), provide transport to someone who needs to get out of town in a hurry and generally add to the mayhem in and around these parts.

From our CDs (our overviews to be precise) ...

Cyradin (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=6849.msg258944#msg258944) looked up to, admired and loved his older brother as he grew up. As an adolescent, he didn't feel this way about his sister-in-law, but in time similar feelings emerged for her. When his brother and sister-in-law died in an unfortunate fire at their farm, Cyradin felt his entire life had fallen to bits. He couldn't allow that to happen as he now had a nephew to look after. So now, his life, which had been relatively quiet and simply based on making as much profit as possible as quickly as possible, has become a lot more complicated as he has a nephew to care for while selling his merchandise.

Following the deaths of his parents in a fire, Raworaan (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=6993.msg263455#msg263455) was taken in by his uncle, Cyradin Lawabel. Exchanging the life of a farmer for that of a merchant was something done by Raworaan with great gusto, and the youth learnt to read, write and perform arithmatic, as well as other skills necessary for a successful merchant, provided his smart mouth doesn't get himself killed prior to the end of his adolescence.

If after reading through the CDs you'd like to have us join, we'd love to hear from you. Feel free to PM Cyradin for any further detail you might desire.

Hey, Leofric, you're welcome abroad! Have you any idea where you'd like to write, or where you're ranger would work or fit in? Want to work with the old Guard? Or one of the embassies? It's a good idea to have a bit of think about how your character could fit into everything, have a read of all the threads and what other people are doing, PM Drea, me or Rellech if you want to join in one of our thread and have questions. Also if you have any plot ideas of your own, you're more than welcome to devise them! Read the intro thread for details, you can make you're own npcs, and borrow other ppl's npcs as long as you get their permission first!

And hello Velzan, our first gnome! : D As I just said to Leofric, PM me, Rell or Drea if want to enter a storyline, need any advice, or have any questions, If have ideas of own, re-read the intro thread for details but feel free run with them!

Hi all,

I actually created Leif with the intention of winding up here, but events conspired, as they have a habit of doing, and so I am writing my application letter rather later than planned - in fact, a full month and a half since titling. Anyhow, I would be overjoyed to join this story, and I think that as I only really know anything about the Remusians I may, with Rellech's permission, join that embassy. (If you wish, we can have a big argument about that, because I doubt the Remusians will be too happy with a confirmed non-killer).

Anyway, I will post my Overview to give you a flavour of the Golden Wordsmith, and then a link to my full CD if I manage to pique your collective interest.

Leif grew up wanting desperately to be a warrior, and moved from his little village on the banks of the Olantani river, Aesthran to Marcogg in order to realise that dream. However, when he arrived and applied for such a post, he was persuaded into following the path of words rather than that of swords.

I await your decision with bated breath.
