Adventures of Caelereth

I don't know if anyone remembers this proposal (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=5180.0) from years ago, but I was toying with the idea of starting up something like it. Except on a smaller scale; probably only about three or four characters to the first story.

If you didn't click the link above, this is the tl;dr version:

1) Take a fairytale.
2) RP it in the Santh world

That's all. Would there be any interest in this?

That would be interesting and fun.

I would particularly enjoy seeing unlikely characters in the traditional fairy tale roles.

I like this idea, too. Perhaps interested parties could list, either in a designated thread or through PM, the characters they would be interested in playing, giving you, the moderator, a pool of potential characters for your story.

Excellent. I'm thinking of Red Riding Hood for the first story. But I actually want to finish the story, instead of letting it atrophy. Would it be unreasonable to impose a minimum posting time limit?

Also this is just interest gathering stage, so it might be a few weeks before this is off the ground.

Not unreasonable at all, Seh.  If you start this, then you set the rules.  Just make sure everyone involved knows the rules in advance so there is no misunderstandings. :)

Could I have people interested PMing me? I'll need to talk to Alt to setting this up as well. The first story will probably be Red Riding Hood, and there WILL be a minimum posting limit. Probably one post per week, at least. You'll have to commit to that. Depending on the number of people interested, I might change the fairytale. RRH is only about three people max.

Depends on which version of Red Riding Hood you do, Seh. For instance, there's also the woodsman who comes in later and cuts open the wolf to reveal the grandmother (for he had eaten her whole, thus he wasn't dead). Then you could always have someone have a small part as Red's mother.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the woodsman. So that's four, then. The woodman though, he's fairly minor and could be an NPC.

OKAY. So this is happening. The fairytales thing is happening. First story will be Little Red Riding Hood, or as the Brothers Grimm called it, Little Red-Cap. A thread will be made on the One on One (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?board=141.0) board seeing as Little Red Riding Hood will be a rather small story for now. Roles:
There will be four roles to be played.

1. Red Riding Hood - Ras (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=4402.0)
2. Wolf
3. Grandma - Simmone Miller (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php/topic,809.0.html)
4. Woodcutter - Gilith (http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=7804.0)

If you're interested, PM me the roles you want and the character you want to play with. If you would like Red to be a male/Wolf to be a Wolfess, totally okay with me. Just let me know through PM.

Rules:
This is not a story I want stagnating because no one posts. The reason I picked a small story is so that there is increased interactivity between the group. To that end, there are two rules:

1. Post at least twice per week.
2. DO NOT feel the need to wait for everyone else to post before you do.

That's it. Seriously, all I want is a commitment that you can stick with this story to the end. If the Wolf is eating the Grandmother, Red can post something about her frolicking around the grass and that's totally okay. If Red and Woodcutter wants to meet before they go to Grandma's, that's totally okay. If all of this is going on while Wolf is deliciously nomming on Grandmother (or whatever Santh version you players want to come up with) that is more than okay, it is encouraged.

Other:
As a story mod, I'll be there to guide you through PMs and such and I will make a few prompt posts to guide you in the story as well. There will be an OOC thread made as well, and discussion about how to put LRH in a Santharian context can be made there. Remember, we know the story already, so the challenge and the fun is RPing it so that it makes sense in Santharia. I aim to finish this story within two months. LRH isn't a long story, and it shouldn't drag either.

I love this idea. Since I'm already involved in a couple of stories, I'll let other people step up and volunteer. Though, if you get down to it and still need one more to fill, I'm more  than willing to fill that position.

Quick question, though. When one RPs in these stories, do they play with their characters in that role, sort of like an actor playing a part, or do they make up the character from scratch? I could see it both ways. I think it would be interesting to have the characters take on different roles, personally. For instance, I could have Kareesh be the "Wolf", since she is an assassin kind of character, and someone has hired her to take out Little Red, and the Grandmother is just a step in that process.

How I meant for the players to RP is basically your example. Kar as an assassin, to take out Red. A Santh version of the fairytale. ^^
