@Cacunai:

The old woman slowly let go of Cacunai's hand. Nodding repeatedly, she stared back at Cacunai, and rasped huskily, "Search for the one with hair of ruby red, and who you seek shall all be said."

With that, the old woman closed her eye, and starting humming a low, buzzing sound, her fists clenched and placed on the table. It looked like she was placing herself in some sort of meditative trance. It was apparent that the conversation was over.

Ok, you can continue to head elsewhere where you wish. :)  For the purpose of your plot thread, we'll just ignore the current commotion in the village centre, and just assume that your character has found a way to bypass the commotion to go elswhere. So, you don't have to take into account the commotion in your next post in indicating where you want to head to.

@Quegon, Eve, Mina, Kiushapo, Ariel, Ryldor & Valannia:

((OOC @Quegon: Que, the last part about the guard snatching your sword sheath away was a little towards determining your actions, i admit, but that's to avoid anyone from getting killed ... namely you :devilish   It was pretty ingenious of you to use the sword sheath *grin* But behave now and sit tight (or do some silent muttering of curses to the guards hehehe) ... we'll be moving on soon ;)  ))

The guard was taken aback by Quegon's sudden charge. A bow and notched arrow was useless against someone hurtling head first against you with a sheathed sword. He sidestepped nimbly as Quegon's sheathed sword missed  him narrowly by a couple of nailsbreadths.

Just then, the zing of an arrow pierced the air. Before Quegon knew it, the base of his cloak was staked to the ground with an arrow, the pointed tip of the arrow narrowly missing Quegon's chest. The guard in front of Quegon took the opportunity to make a fast grab for Quegon's sheathed sword, successfully yanking it from Quegon's hands as Quegon was jolted backwards by the force of the arrow that had caught his cloak.

As the crowd gasped, eyes turned to the guard who was saddled atop of a horse. It was he who had let the arrow fly at Quegon, and he was already notching another. From atop his horse he gave Quegon a stern warning, "My next arrow shall not miss you, good sir, if you persist in your misguided ways." It was apparent by his first shot that he was an excellent marksman. He lowered his bow and arrow towards Quegon, aiming dead straight for Quegon's heart should Quegon dare to make another aggressive move.

Thaetum placed both his hands atop of his head as the arrow flew at Quegon, ducking at an imaginary arrow himself. The two guards were approaching him closer and closer, And soon their wretched hands will be on me! He muttered something under his breath. He was tired of the whole charade. Someone was going to get hurt really soon, and it could well be himself. He decided that that was not good at all. Raising both hands in the air in a sudden gesture, he loudly declared, "Alright! Alright! I give up running! Take me in! I'll go with you willingly!" At the word "willingly", he glared at the two guards approaching him, as if to warn them not to approach to lay hands on him.

The guard on horseback spoke up again, "Lieutanent Incendarious, i can escort him back to camp." with his bow and arrow still cautiously aimed at Quegon.

Quegon smiled as he sat up and crossed his legs "hmph last time I ignore a horseman" he muttered to himself. He slowly undid his cloak, so as not to alarm the guards, then reached under it and pulled the arrow out then showed it to the guard "want this back" Quegon said with a smile "or can I keep it as a souvenir"

Recognizing that the conversation was over, Cacunai stood silently and, almost as an afterthought, placed four silver coins of foreign mint onto the little table, then turned and carefully skirted the commotion by the fountain. She made a wide circle around the edge of the marketplace on her way back to the Regal Rusik. She had some questions to ask the owner.

OOC: May I post there now? The RR I mean.

"Open weapons in this market as of present carries the punishment of eternal silence for the wielder."

Quickly reversing his blade, Kiushapo slid it into its sheathe. She sounded quite serious, and eternal silence wasn't exactly what he needed right now.

What he did need was a way to get Mina out of there. He didn't know what the guards had in mind, but one was already firing arrows. Keeping his head down, he worked his way back to the front of the crowd, as he crouched down, pretending to examine his boot, he picked up a couple small pebbles.

"Alright! Alright! I give up running! Take me in! I'll go with you willingly!"

Looking up sharply, he recognized Thaetum's voice. If he was giving up, that meant the guards would be leaving soon. He didn't know if they planned to take Mina with them but he wanted to get her out before that. Standing backup , pebbles in hand, he started to straighten his vest, and then stopped, he didn't want to advertise he'd been fighting recently. Hunching his shoulders, he tossed the pebbles at Mina's feet, one by one.

Valannia sighed deeply as things appeared to settle a bit once more. Her blades returning to their scabbards with but a glimmer of the sun upon them before they vanished from sight.

Raising a hand to the mounted guardsman as the other frail hand brushed golden tresses to cascade at rest behind elven ears. "Sir, gather up Thaetum and take him to Gavrin immediately. I am thinking that meandering here has unsettled the villagers."

Many of the guardsmen lowering their bows as the tension fell from the air, almost like a physical weight being lifted. Valannia turned nimbly once more to Eve and Mina, sauntering over to face them at but a ped away. "Lady Mina, if my memory does not allude me from last night. Seems you have changed travelling companions this day, what happened to your consort?"

A mischivious gleam shimmering over Indigo eyes as Valannia smiled spritefully at Mina. "If yee find time this day I would very much like to discuss a few matters with yee ..." Adverting her gaze to Eve for a brief moment. "and your travelling companions if you would? I shall be in the encampment this evening since it seems Thaetum will have alot of talking to do. So when you are done in this market I would very much like to see ALL of you."

Turning her head to peer over her petite shoulder at Ariel. "I would also like Lord Ryldor and yourself to join us Lady Ariel. So when he awakens from his fright do give him my apologies and invitation."

@Eve, Mina, Kiushapo, Ryldor, Ariel, Quegon & Valannia:

Thaetum grumbled with his arms slumped down on his sides. Glowering at the two guards that had stepped back from him, he slowly made his way towards the guard atop the horse, who was looking down sternly upon him.

Suddenly, he slipped and fell as his hand clutched the ground and he picked himself up again. Muttering curses loudly for everyone to hear, he ambled his way to the guard on top of the horse reluctantly.

As he reached the guard, the guard opened his mouth to speak something, probably an admonishment of some sort to Thaetum, but before the words came out from his mouth, Thaetum lifted a clenched fist and hurled a small shower of sand and pebbles into the guard's face. In a flash, the guard cried out but Thaetum had already grabbed the guard's leg, and with a hard tug, pulled the guard tumbling down from his horse.

There was an outcry from the guards around as they all unsheathed their swords, unable to shoot their arrows as they had to take Thaetum alive. As they scrambled over to the horse, Thaetum lifted himself over the surprised beast. A guard had reached the horse and tried to slash at one of Thaetum's dangling foot, but missed by a grain and slashed at the horse instead, sending the horse rearing up, downing a few guards, and then galloping off in pain with Thaetum on it away from the enraged guards at the market square.

Valannia turned about as the guardsmen unsheathed their blades, indigo eyes swirling with a maelstrom of rage as the events unfolded before her. Her head swaying gentle side to side as if in shock. Her golden tresses shimmering in the light of the afternoon sun.

"The simpliest of tasks it seems is beyond any of yee!" Some of the guards heading off in various directions in an attempt to avoid Valannias anger. "I want some answers and I MEAN now! I have spent countless hours searching for this man yet you fools give him a horse to escape upon." Closing her eyes slowly as forced control once more came over her supple features. "I want to know why it is you all seek this trickster Thaetum so vigorously?"

Her harsh words directed upon the remaining guards. As she strood upto the unhorsed soldier. "You have the answers I am sure so relinquish them now! Why is it I seek this man at all costs?"Valannias delicate hands held to her sides in white knuckled fists as a maelstrom of fire swirled in the depths of her eyes.

Mina was relieved that the whole confrontation had ended with relatively little violence.  The guards were lowering their bows, and their leader Valannia had sheathed her swords.

Mina thought she felt pebbles being thrown at her feet, but paid no attention to it, as Valannia had approached her and Eve, and was now speaking to them.  She waited for the knight to finish speaking before replying.  "You are mistaken, Milady.  This lady here is not my travelling companion," she said, glancing at Eve, "We merely happened to find Thaetum at the same time."

Before she could speak any further, she noticed some movement over at the center of the square.  It was Thaetum, trying to escape.  Moments later, he was gone, having galloped away on the horse he snatched from one of the guards.  Mina frowned, cursing her bad luck.  She would have to find Thaetum all over again, and it would certainly be much harder this time.

@Eve, Mina, Kiushapo, Ryldor, Ariel, Quegon & Valannia:

The guards looked nervously at one another, until one spoke up gingerly, "Well, L..Lieutanent ... we had orders from Captain Gavrin to question everyone who passed to and from the village about the old man Prince Viginold was looking for ... T..Thaetum approached us, and we ... we tried to question him but he would not speak to us. H..He ran and we gave chase, and ..." The guard that had spoke shuffled his foot uncomfortably, trying to avert Valannia's angered gaze.

Valannias subtle lips held in an evident force of will to control her anger. "That is all you wanted from this man? That is near incompetence and all of you should be docked your pay for wasting the Princes time on such moronic issues. As of this moment Thaetum is only trivial and wanted only for his assault upon a guardsman."

Turning nimbly to the crowd once again as a placid smile came over Vals crimson lips. "My apologies to all here this day, if I had known this matter was so minute in importance I would not have taken things to such an extreme. I extend a royal apology to each and everyone one of you Lords and Ladies and wish you all a good day. For those that seek to aid the Prince in his quest for his sister I extend my invitation to join Lord Gavrin and myself. I hope some of yee find it in your hearts to join us to discuss the next steps in the quest at hand."
