@Eve:

As Eve reached the immediate camp area and carefully placed a shaken and shocked Helli down to the ground besides her, the guard cried out again, "By Ava! It really is Lornen's mother!"

A couple more guards standing around helped gently guide Helli to be seated nearby. The guard that had cried out turned towards Eve.

"My name is Evelaria Magoo. We were attacked down the path by archers of some sort, and something told me just to run ahead."

A hand rose to ruffle through the sandy brown hair of the guard, who looked quite young, with a puzzled expression on his face, "Archers you say? I don't believe we have any archers posted ... besides, why would anyone be attacking two women??"

The other guard who was by Helli's side calming her down turned towards Eve too, "Thank you ..." He nodded solemnly. The guards had saw what Eve did, and by Eve's words, if Eve had not carried Helli to the camp, Helli would probably not have survived the rain of arrows.

Helli looked frantically around her, still in shock, "My son? Where's my son? Lornen? Where is he??"

A guard next to her tried to soothe her, "Calm down Madam ... Lornen ... he ..." the guards looked from one to another uncomfortably, "Well, he hasn't returned yet from his patrol. We ... were all wondering ... but ... don't worry, i'm sure he shall be arriving any moment now, Madam." Helli's expression was unconvinced, as her glance darted around the camp area, expecting to see her son show up any minute.

The young guard spoke to Eve again, "Would you like water? Food? Is anyone wounded?"

Eve nodded in acceptance of the guards' gratitude. She looked at Helli, worried that something bad may have happened to her son. She didn't have a good feeling about it, and she was about to offer to go into the woods, when she heard the guard offering her food and water.

"You have food? If so I would like to pay you for allowing us to enter. I am a chef, and if I am allowed to brag I am a good one. I do not mind preparing something in return for your hospitality."

She then looked towards Helli. "She is hurting, I do not know exactly what is wrong, but I think it would be best if she were to rest."

@Mina & Kiushapo:

"Good morning Milord. My name is Mina Aylwin. You are Captain Gavrin, I suppose?"

"Ah, Milady Mina, yes, Gavrin is my name, and Captain is my title, you are correct." Gavrin smiled broadly. His eyes had a certain lively sparkle to them. Elric had a spirited demeanour to himself too, but compared with Gavrin, one would get the impression that Elric was a little "washed out" ... the same goes for any other man in Eresh for that matter. Gavrin easily stood out.

"Kiushapo, I am being called Kiushapo. Sometimes I am being called Captain as well, but that is not being today."

Gavrin smiled and nodded to Kiushapo as well, "Ah, it's not often we have guests from the Elvenkind ... you are a Captain in their ranks as well?" Gavrin would wait for Kiushapo's answer, but Mina had turn to speak to Elric, and Gavrin could not help but catch sight of Mina's dagger.

"These parts of the woods are not exactly the most hospitable place to be, it is wised to be armed and know the ways of defending one's self." As Kiushapo mentioned something about reaching an outpost before the end of the day, Gavrin interjected before Elric could respond, "If you start right now, you could all arrive a little after midday. I would spare you all some horses, but we need every one of them as supplies take far and long to reach here."

Elric held his head low down, and if you looked carefully you could tell that he was ... looking a little surly and sulky. "What the Captain said is right," He said the word "Captain" perhaps a little contentiously, but Gavrin seemingly didn't notice, or didn't care. "Therefore, we had better get started, my friends. Captain, excuse me, for we shall take your leave now." Elric motioned to Mina and Kiushapo to follow him if they are ready. "Come, we head South, then West."

Gavrin smiled and waved to the trio, "Be safe. And may we meet again."

Your next posts will commence in the Shivering Woods Vicinity thread ... which will be created. Wait for a post from Elric there, and then start posting :)

@Cacunai & Fluffy:

"Sorry kid, I haven't got any parchment. Peel some bark off that aspen if you want to write something."

Yerun's face fell. He stood where he was fixedly for while, and then started looking around. Finally, he picked up a sturdy looking branch from the ground with an odd pointed tip. Crouching down to the ground, he started to "write" with the branch on the ground, a patch where there was more dirt than grass.

After some effort, words appeared in the dirt in Yerun's scrawly handwriting:

Goe Sauwth. Dhen Wes. Dhen Sauth. Luuk IIII (Yerun forgot how to spell the word "for", so drew four lines to indicate the number 4, seeing that they both sounded the same anyway) hut (this was the single word he spelt right, though he didn't know it of course ... he was so sure it had an "o" in it, but he couldn't remember why so he wrote it with a "u" instead).

He looked up towards Cacunai again, a little tired from all that writing on the ground, his face was an expression that said something like, "Can we go now?"

Commence posting in the Shivering Woods Vicinity thread. I'm going to keep you and Fluffy's plot thread separate from Mina and Kiushapo's, so just post as if you don't see them. You don't have to wait for a post from me, just go ahead and post :)

The guard hurriedly spoke, "Oh, no, please, thank you for saving Lornen's mother, accept some coarse bread and meat and water from us as a token of gratitude. We are all good friend's of Lornen, and we are very thankful that you have kept his mother from harm!"

"She is hurting, I do not know exactly what is wrong, but I think it would be best if she were to rest."

The guard looked sadly towards Eve, "Yes, she is. Lornen's twin brother, Lornin, was involved in ..." he shrugged, "Well, let's just say that he entered the Shivering Woods and never came out. It would tear Lornen's mother apart if anything happened to Lornen. She is in shock i think, and you are right, she needs rest." He smiled faintly at Eve, "The hour is getting late. We will have someone tend to her injury, and then both of you should rest. I will alert the Captain that some archers have attacked the two of you. You should rest for the night too, and when morning comes, i will get the Captain to find out more about the archers, and we can see what needs to be done."

If you have more questions, or something in mind that you want to do while it is still night, post as such in your next post. Otherwise, it will be assumed that the guards gave you food and water, and led you to a tent for the night, and your next post should indicate you waking up at the current time displayed in the current time thread. If you want to wait for an NPC to approach you, then indicate in your post that you remain in your tent. If you want to actively sought out a certain NPC, then indicate in your post that you went out of your tent and the person that you are looking for :)

Evelaria smiled and took the bread, meat and water from the guard. She didn't really feel like cooking anyhow, but her Mullog Nanny Stari, had always told her it was polite to offer working men a good meal. She looked to Helli as the other guard spoke.

"Okay," she said as the guards led her to her tent. She went inside the small area and finished eating her meal and drank some of her water and then put it off to the side. She pulled the small warm blanket over her body, leaving only her head and neck out and then she shot up in her bed, knowing that something bad was going on.

She looked up and closed her eyes. "Chaos, if this is your doing, spare this woman her grief. She already has a husband on the edge of sanity. And she has lost one son. Do not let the same befall the other."

She sighed and closed her eyes as she laid back down and went to sleep.

Evelaria soon woke up and stretched. Thankfully those archers hadn't returned during the night and killed her in her sleep. She stood up, bumping her head on the pole that held her tent up and grumbled to herself. Rubbing her head the warrior walked out of her tent. Not really looking for anyone, but she saw that many of the guards had already taken up their posts. She walked up to the gate where she was rescued last night and was looking for one of the guards she had seen last night.

Glayron ponders for a while then speaks.

"If it is at all possible, I would rather find myself within a forest then in open ground.  I find myself much more at home within the forest, the feeling of something that surronds you from all sides, portecting or hindering as some people might say."

Galyron hushes up and moves to join the men and to see who he will be travelling with.

Cacunai did her best to interpret the messy handwriting, and in the end she just memorized it and headed south, one of the words she did understand.

@ Glayron

The guard’s back straightened at Glayron’s comments about preferring the woods. ”No one is allowed under the woods under ANY circumstances. Captain’s orders. I hope we‘re clear” His voice made it clear that he every intention of making sure that order was followed. Gruffly he added, ”You’ll be going in the group that goes west.” With that, the guard turned and walked away.

One of the other guards seemed to be regarding Glayron with a look of confusion. Finally he said, ”Ummm. So about your…” The guard paused as if looking for the right words. “Your magic. Do you need any special… materials, or, umm,  rituals when you talk to the animals?”

@ Eve

As Eve walked, she saw a group of guards headed towards the gate and recognized one from the night before. Apparently, he recognized her as well because upon seeing her, the guard motioned to someone, pointed in Eve’s direction and started towards her.

”Ma’am.” the guard said with a polite bow, ”I hope you remember me from last night. This is Captain Garvin. He has some questions for you,” he said with a gesture to another member of the group that was coming over. Eve got a look at the approaching officer and saw how devastatingly good looking he was. Tall, with broad shoulders and a flat stomach, he looked to be hard as a rock and solid muscle. His blond hair and blue eyes were set against the bronzed skin that came from days spent outdoors.

The handsome captain smiled at Eve. ”I understand you had a little excitement with some archers last night. I was hoping you could give me some details about what happened last night. It’d be very helpful.”

The conversation was interrupted with sobs as Helli was approaching in hysterics crying. ”My son…. My son… Where is he?… Why isn’t he back yet?… My poor boy… where is my son?”

Eve smiled when the guard approached her and bowed in return.

”Ma’am.” the guard said with a polite bow, ”I hope you remember me from last night. This is Captain Garvin. He has some questions for you.”

"Captain, it is a pleasure," said the warrior with a slight smile as she noticed how attractive this man was. Eve wasn't usually the type to be so attracted to anyone, but he had definetly caught her eye.

”I understand you had a little excitement with some archers last night. I was hoping you could give me some details about what happened last night. It’d be very helpful.”

Eve nodded, and was about to speak to the Captain about what had happened when Helli ran out hysterically. "My son…. My son… Where is he?… Why isn’t he back yet?… My poor boy… where is my son?”

Eve looked back to the Captain, feeling horrible for Helli. Her life just wasn't turning out all that great. "Captain, I don't know who was firing upon us. But I have a feeling that it has something to do with her son. I would like to go out to the forests to find him..."

@Eve:

Captain Gavrin frowned at Helli's outburst and Eve's "request". But even while frowning, there was a charming and handsome edge to his worry. He tried to soothe Helli, "Madam, please, calm down. We are all worried about your son. He seemingly wandered off the group he was with. I have already sent men to scout the forests early this morning, and any news of your son will be borne back swiftly by my men. I'm sure no harm has come to your son."

But Helli was hysterical, she clutched at Eve's sleeves, and cried out pleadingly at Eve, "Yes, please, please! Please find my son for me! Please find Lornen for me! Please, i beg you, please!" Her desparateness was evident in her choked tone of voice.

Captain Gavrin shook his head grimly at Eve, and spoke in counsel, "Ma'am, i advise you to stay here with Lornen's mother, and try to console her, or calm her down. My men will do their best, that is assured. However, if you insist on setting out on a search yourself, i am afraid i can spare no further men to go along with you."

Helli looked pleadingly at Eve. She was sure Eve would help her. She didn't trust the other guards, after what happened to Lornin, her other son.

Glayron is shocked at the words from the person who stand before him, but doesn't ask any questions.  He simply takes note of this strange behavour and follows the man's orders.

As another man confronts Glayron, he seems a little curious as to how Glayron is able to speak to animals.

"Sir, I speak to animals just the same as I speak with you now, with words.  Though like you and I have our own language, Tharian, and elves having their own, Styrásh, each animal speaks its own language as well."

Glayron wonders if he was a little harsh in his explanination.

Evelaria looked at the Captain who she saw frowning. She raised an eyebrow at his frown. And then looked at the poor woman clinging to her arm. She sighed, feeling horrible that the Captain insisted on Eve staying.

"Captain, I need not your men nor do I need your permission to travel as I see fit. I am highly capable of fending for myself as your men have seen last night. I will go into the forest to find her son...I have a feeling that your men will not return. You may send whoever you wish with me, but if you do not have any then so be it. I shall go alone. Helli, stay here and calm down, do not venture back to your home without someone to accompany you."

Eve looked at the Captain, smiled sternly with her jaw's clenched and walked back to her tent. Once in her tent she grabbed her axes from the floor, and began to clean them, pulling out various tools from her sack to sharpen the edges of her blades. Once this was done she simply attached them to her waist and walked out taking the sack and the jug of water with her.

She approached the Captian and Helli, smiled and then walked to the gate, pushing one of the guards out of her way and heading towards the forest.
