As you push open the door a delicious aromatic smell of various fragrances and spices wafts up to you. The kitchen felt hot and steamy, but only because of the immense fireplace that had a roaring flame going on in it in one corner of the kitchen.

One could hardly imagine a kitchen of such a size from merely looking at the exterior of the tavern. Six long tables were placed in the middle of the kitchen, different cooking and food prepatory utensils laid strewn in a strangely disorderly yet organized manner on the table tops. On all the walls were racks and racks of spices and condiments, on the shelves were different meats, vegetables, fruits, grains and other sorts of ingredients. Near the fireplace were big iron pots of food that were cooking, while pots and pans of different sizes hung all around every other spare inch of the walls. It was certainly a chef's paradise, this kitchen.

Running around all over the place performing an assortment of tasks with amazing speed and efficiency was a hunched back elderly looking man, with cropped dark hair flecked with strands of grey. He seems likely to be the chef of the tavern and master of the kitchen.

"Take 'im to the kitchen! Show 'im what needs to be done!" the owner yelled, Quegon looked at who she was shouting at only to see the boy walk over to him and open the kitchen door where of which Quegon had been standing infront of.

Quegon hesitaed for a second then walked through the door the boy had just opened, as soon as Quegon got past the door it was as if he had entered another world. Compared to the foul smells of the  common area in the tavern the kitchen was a warm inviting place, the smell of food made Quegon's mouth water. Quegon had been in a few kitchens in his life but none had never been as iniviting to him as this one, it could have been the long trip to the town or it could have been the fact that the smell made him hungry, either way he continued into the room and stopped at a table placed in the centre.

Quegon soon realised that there was an elderly man in the kitchen with him, the mans hunched back made Quegon remeber the time he had kicked a man so hard in the chest that his foot had broken his ribs and continued through the mans chest. He looks like the old senile type most likely want me to do everything whilst he sits in a corner doing nothing Quegon thought to himself as he turned around to look at the door he had just come through "hey kid you gonna show me what to do or is this old man" Quegon pointed his thumb over his shoulder "gonna do it for ya"

The old man ran around with a basket full of greens that was still dripping wet from being freshly washed. He didn't notice that Quegon was standing right at one of the centre tables until he had to move over the other side of the room and came across Quegon blocking his way.

The old man looked quizzically at Quegon, and then looked questioningly towards the young boy who was still standing at the door. The young boy nodded his head a couple of times and gestured to the old man in an odd manner. The old man subsequently nodded his head, and then he looked towards Quegon with a toothy grin, "You! Man! Help! In! Kitchen?" His spoke in an odd staccatto way, his voice sounding elderly but full and with much gusto.

Quegon turned to face the old man and gave him a look "I might night be able to cook for a king but I've spent enough time working in kitchens to know how to cook" Quegon pick up a nearby knife then flipped it in his had "I'm also good with a knife in case you get any funny ideas, but I'm sure we'll get along fine" Quegon put the  knife down then leaned against the table "so where do I start?"

The old man grinned at Quegon in a friendly manner, "Yes! Fine! Fine! Good!"

"so where do I start?"

The old man nodded at Quegon, and then picked up the knife that Quegon had just placed on the table. Without even looking behind him, the old man non-chalantly threw the knife over his shoulder, which hit the knob of one of the cupboard doors with amazing accuracy, causing the door to open. The young boy then walked towards the opened cupboard door, and brought out a wide wooden bowl that was sitting on the shelf, subsequently walking over to the old man and handed it to him.

The old man received the bowl from the young boy while nodding in thanks, and then handed the bowl to Quegon. In the bowl was an assortment of Onns (beans) in colours of yellow, white and red. The old man smiled as he spoke to Quegon, "Sort! Beans! Yellow! Red! White!" then he gestured towards three small bowls sitting on the table that Quegon was leaning on, "Put! Beans! In! Bowls! All! Different! Colours! Separate!" Then he hobbled off towards the fireplace again to stir the big bowl of stew that we brewing, leaving Quegon with the bowl of coloured beans in his hands.

Quegon gave a stout look at the bowl of onns then tipped the lot onto the table, and began using both hands to pick and sort the different colors throwing them into the bowls. Quegon threw red ones in the left yellow ones in the middle and white into the right.

After a minute Quegon realised that he had almost gotten half way through the pile of onns on the table. I thought that I'd be given something hard Quegon thought to himself, he soon realised that the boy was still in the kitchen "hey kid what can you tell me about the soldiers around here" Quegon said whilst still sorting the beans "the owner said that they have an arrangment with them wanna tell me about it?" Quegon stopped for a second as a red onn bounced out of the bowl he threw it at bounced back out and landed in the middle one "or do you wanna go back out front to suffer the insults you get from the owner" Quegon added as an after thought knowing the boy wouldn't have liked getting insulted.

Quegon plucked the red onn out of the yellow on bowl and placed it into the red bowl then continued sorting them quickly as he waited for a response from the boy.

The young boy had been silently watching Quegon from where he stood while Quegon was sorting the beans. He seemed to be a little startled when Quegon looked up from his sorting and spoke to him, "hey kid what can you tell me about the soldiers around here? the owner said that they have an arrangment with them wanna tell me about it?"

The young boy had a slightly perplexed look on his face, and he merely stood there still staring at Quegon, motionless, and without speaking a word in response.

The old man chuckled as he stirred the big pot of stew at the fireplace, "He! Doesn't! Speak! Don't! Speak! No! Never!" the boy merely hung his head down at the old man's words.

The old man took out a mortar and pestle, and then walked towards Quegon, placing the mortar and pestle on the table in front of Quegon, "Finish! Sorting! Grind! Beans! Different! Bowls! Make! Nice! Paste! Yes?" With that, he turned back to his stew again.

The young boy looked at Quegon for a moment with an apologectic gaze, and then turned and walked out the door into the common area again.

Quegon finished sorting the onns then started grinding them in the morter, he started on the red onns by throwing a few into the morter. He then grabbed the pestal and began grinding the onns into a paste adding a few more ever minute. After a while Quegon finished on the red onns he used a spoon to scoop out the red onn paste and placed it back in the red onn bowl. Quegon then started on the  yellow onns but stopped after a he got about half way, "hey whats with that boy someone cut out his tougne?" he asked the old man with a questioning tone "and since he can't tell me about the soldiers can you?" Quegon started to grind the onns again waiting for a reply.

The old man started humming a ditty little tune as he stirred the big pot of steaming stew at the fireplace.

"hey whats with that boy someone cut out his tougne?and since he can't tell me about the soldiers can you?"

The old man seemed slightly surprised by Quegon's questions, and he slowly turned around to face Quegon, "Hmm?" Then, his toothy grin appeared on his wrinkled face again, "Boy! Poor! Boy! Yes! Don't! Know! Why! He! Doesn't! Talk! Was! Like! That! When! Lady! Bretha! Bought! Him! In!" He then shook his head continuously, "Poor! Boy! Poor! Boy! Nice! boy!"

The old man turned back to stir the pot for a moment, and then turned around to face Quegon again, "Soldiers! Take! Care! Of! Tavern! Lady! Bretha! Pays! Soldiers! Everyone! Happy! Good! Good! Captain! Gavrin! Take! Care! Of! Tavern! Good! Good!" Grabbing a bundle of chopped vegetables from the table nearest to him, he threw them into the big steaming pot and then began to stir again.

"well I guess it can't be all bad" Quegon muttered as he finished on the yellow onns and began on the white ones. After a while he finshed, then looked around as he streched he looked through the kitchen door only to notice that the common room was nearly empty "hey old man what time is it the place looks empty" Quegon said as he scooped the last of the onn paste out of the morter.

"hey old man what time is it the place looks empty"

The old man had started to toss a variety of ingredients into the soup, stirring and humming happily. He did not turn around as he answered Quegon, "Time! No! Idea! When! Maids! Come! In! Then! Time! For! Closing! Must! Work! Must Work!" Then, he scooped some of the steaming stew into a small bowl, and walked across the room to where Quegon was finishing up grinding the last of the onns.

"Here! Have! Stew! Nice! Stew!" he placed the small bowl in front of Quegon. The stew was mouth-wateringly fragrant, though it looked a dark shade with bits and pieces of unidentifiable ingredients in it. The old man chuckled, "Where! You! From! Why! You! Here? For! Reward! Like! Others! Who! All! Come?"

"Reward?" Quegon said in a tone "no I didn't come for the reward I came for my own personaly reason" he then took the bowl of soup and smelt it, hmph at least it ain't spicy that'd mean bad ingredients he thought to himself. Quegon then began eating the soup stopping to say something every few spoonfuls "no I came here looking for someone and I think the he might be the one behind the pricess's disapearance"

Quegon had another few spoonfuls of the soup then placed it down on the table "once I find the princess wether shes alive or in the ground I'm gonna keep going till I find out who is resposible for her disapearance"

Quegon took another spoonful of soup then spoke again "I don't care about the reward seriously what am I gonna do with it all I might as well give it to that poor boy out front if I ever get it" with saying that he went to finish of the last of the soup in his bowl

The old man nodded as Quegon spoke, but the expression on his face didn't really tell Quegon whether he understood what Quegon was saying or not. "You! Think! Someone! Took! Princess!" the old man then chuckled, though, you had to wonder what he found so funny. "Princess! In! Woods! Lost! Now! Lost! Never! Found! Again! Never!" He shook his head. "All! Go! To! Woods! All! Lost!" He then bent down slightly until his gaze was at eye level with Quegon, and he solemnly declared in his odd staccatoed way, "You! Go! To! Woods! You! Lost! Too! Never! Found!"

At this point, a plump tavern maid came in through the door, gave a wink to Quegon, and then spoke to the old man, "Another order of stew! It's 21 bells now though, just a couple more hours till we all get some rest!" She had a weary expression on her face.

The old man nodded as the tavern maid turned to walk out again. Hobbling over to the shelves on top of the big steaming pot, he collected together a basketful of greens and placed it in front of Quegon. "Cut! Greens! This! Size!" he measured a certain size with his thumb and forefinger. The old man shook his head as he walked off back to the fireplace, "Work! More! Work! Work!"

At this point Quegon, you can either continue to talk to the  man to try to get more information, or we can just say that Quegon was put to hard work for the next couple of hours until he retires to bed, and you start off the next morning. It's up to you ;)

Quegon began chopping up the greens whilst humming a tune to himself, before he knew it the greens were all chopped up as the old man had asked. "hey I'm done here if you don't mind its late I can come back in the morning if you think I haven't done enough" Quegon said as he took the chooped greens and put them into a large bowl nearby, he then walked with it over to the old man "here" he said as he handed it to him

Quegon, if you are intending me to post back to you, post in the OOC to let me know. Otherwise, we will just assume that Quegon has gone to bed all tired, and you can start posting the next morning -- starting in the village center if you wish, indicating which fork you want to head down, or post in the Regal Rusik 2 thread indicating that you are outside and stating where you want to head to :)
