You stumble by chance into a clearing in the woods. Oddly enough, a narrow and happily gurgling stream ran throughout the clearing, and you wonder where the stream had originated from because you didn’t remember coming across any bodies of water in your exploration of the woods thus far. Patches of shade grass and thick goldenbell bushes surrounded the bank of the stream. The gently flowing water seemed very refreshing and inviting.

Mina dashed through the woods as quickly as she could while helping Caradol along.  After a while, she found herself in a clearing that had a small stream running through it.  That's odd.  I did not think that there would be any streams in this region.  The water appeared very inviting, and it seemed to Mina that this would be a good place to take a rest in.  They needed a break too---Caradol was injured, and Mina herself was growing tired after running around so much.

Turning to Caraol, she said, "Perhaps we can rest here for a while, if those dark elves are not too close."

She frowned a little as she wondered how to tell whether there were any dark elves nearby, before reaching into her pouch for some wizardleaf.  She then began casting the Spectral Sight spell, hoping that the ability to see heat will enable her to detect any dark elves that were getting too close.

Kiushapo only hoped that when the woman accepted his offer, she would remain as... verbose... as she was now. First dates always brought with them an awkward silence, and he had never cared for those.

Keeping Mina and Elric in sight, he rubbed at his sore chest, though he was sure her boots were aiming for other areas, her knees were quite hard enough to cause him discomfort.

------

After all the trees, the clearing was so surprising he almost tripped, having to brace his hold on the woman in the first place he could reach, that unfortunantly being her rear end. Pulling his hand away just as soon as he had balanced himself again, he set her near the small stream, the sound of the water helping him to drown out the woman's fresh cries of outrage and shock. Looking towards Mina, he saw her casting a spell of sorts, and figured she was preparing a look out. Elric was a soldier, and all soldiers in his experience knew how to take advantage of a break, so he turned back to his hostage, making no move to unbind her hands. Speaking in a normal tone of voice, he smiled apologetically at her for his latest transgression.

"My apologies, I am being sure you would not of been wanting me to drop you, no? Be assured it will not be happening again uninvited."

Throughout her tirades, he had not once heard a name that a lady would wear, and he suspected she wasn't about to give it to him willingly, so fishing out the Yilthrem, he showed it to her, waiting until he saw the recognition in her eyes before he held it at arms length over the stream "I am not wanting to have to keep calling you 'The Woman' in my head. Perhaps you could be telling me your real name?"

As he spoke, he fiddled playfully with the Yilthrem, seeming to almost drop it a few times.

Thankfully, there did not seem to be a troupe of angry elves chasing after Mina, Kiushapo, Elric and Caradol ... for now. Mina's Spectral Sight seem to reaffirm this as well, giving no indication of any living presence close to them besides the surrounding flora. Not even forest animals.

Caradol collapsed by the bank of the stream, gasping for breath, merely nodding at Mina's suggestion. Closing his eyes, he took deep breaths, and seem to go into a deep meditative state for a few brief seconds, until he opened his eyes again and spoke weakly to Mina, "Help me ... take out this ... arrow ..."

Meanwhile, a seething female elf sat near Kiushapo besides the small stream, momentarily silenced by her own deep gasps for air and a sore, dry throat, her violet gaze like daggers piercing in rage at Kiushapo. She had long tussled locks of raven-black, with a purplish tinge as it gleamed in the faint sunlight in the woods. An aquiline nose stood out between cheeks with a light sheen of seemingly sparkling silver, while her dark crimson lips were pursed in a straight line of venomous fury.

"My apologies, I am being sure you would not of been wanting me to drop you, no? Be assured it will not be happening again uninvited."

"You ... filthy ..." She began, but subsequently shook so hard with rage that whatever decorative terms she had in mind for Kiushapo were swallowed in convulsing hatred.

"I am not wanting to have to keep calling you 'The Woman' in my head. Perhaps you could be telling me your real name?"

She struggled to free herself from her bonds, and hissed and snarled at Kiushapo ... but to no avail. Her response to Kiushapo's question was a flurry of loud, angry retorts, "Your lips are not fit to bear my name! Traitor of our kin! I shall have you splintered into innumerable parts! You shall feel our wrath! I shall --"

She stopped abruptly as Kiushapo started fiddling with her Yilthrem. Her widening eyes were now filled with alarm and panic at Kiushapo's careless treatment of her Yilthrem. "No ... stop ... don't ..." Her voice was now almost a whimper. In a tone of bitter resignation and resentment, she slumped, and finally parted with her name, "Yllanallyiea ... my name is Yllanallyiea."

At this very moment, Elric who had been resting, suddenly crumpled to the floor, his limbs spasming slightly, his head burrowed between his hands and groaning loudly in pain.

A smirk lit up on Yllanallyiea's face, "The human male is poisoned. He will not live long. He will kill all of you!"

Nodding matter-of-factly, Kiushapo pulled the Yilthrem back over dry land, smiling at her, “Yllanallyiea… that is being a pretty name.”

He felt kind of bad doing that to her, but he’d find a way to make it up to her. As he was thinking of possible solutions, Elric keeled over, bringing Yllanallyiea no small amount of joy it seemed. That removed any trace of regret he had felt, and prompted him to extend the Yilthrem back over the stream, at the same time gesturing for Mina to do what she could, if anything.

“I am thinking you are wanting to tell me how long he is having to live, and if there is being an antidote, no? And who is 'He' being?

Cocking his head suggestively, he held the Yilthrem close to the surface of the stream,  his earlier smile taking on a wry tone. He just hoped she answered in time to save the man.

"Help me ... take out this ... arrow ..."

For the second time that day, Mina knelt down by Caradol and reached for the arrow in his shoulder.  For the second time that day, she was interrupted.

This time, it was Elric, suddenly falling to the ground and groaning in pain.  Smirking, the dark elf that Kiushapo had captured announced that Elric had been poisoned and did not have long to live.  For a moment, Mina could not decide whether to stay with Caradol or try to help Elric.  Finally, she decided that Elric's case was more urgent, and decided to help him first, before returning to Caradol.

"Sorry, I'll have to tend to you later," she told Caradol.  She then hurried over to Elric and began casting one of her poison-removing spells, hoping that it would take effect before the poison killed Elric.

@Kiushapo & Mina:

((OOC: Poor Caradol ... hehehe))

A deep gasp could be heard from Yllanalllyiea as Kiushapo dangled her Yilthrem ever so perilously close to the surface of the bubbling stream.

“I am thinking you are wanting to tell me how long he is having to live, and if there is being an antidote, no? And who is 'He' being?"

Yllanallyiea's face grew pale as her gaze was transfixed with much concern on her Yilthrem. Her lips quivering slightly, she nevertheless tried to remain as calm as she could, "He has but 2 Bells. The dart is coated with a poison that gives the victim ... waking nightmares. He will kill all of you, because you will all appear as beasts and monstrosities to him!" She hissed slightly, full of pent-up anger and threat, but then remembered her Yilthrem in Kiushapo's hands, and her tone soften down, her eyes full of worry, "I do not have the antidote. It is in the hands of the male warriors. Send me back to my people and return my Yilthrem, and i shall obtain the antidote for you." She cast a sinister sidewards glance towards a reeling Elric, "Or he will die. Soon."

As Mina approached Elric, Elric was keeled over, groaning loudly, one hand pressing hard against his abdomen as if in extreme pain, and the other grasping his forehead. His breaths started getting very shallow and quickened, and beads of sweat trickled to the ground. As Mina hovered her hands above him to purge him of the poison with a spell, Elric noticed the slight movement above him, and turned his head and feverish gaze towards Mina.

What he saw, was a three headed monstrosity with coal fire eyes and scaly digits. He gave a shriek of fear and lunged towards Mina with both hands, trying to strangle the Mage.

Frowning, Kiushapo tucked the Yilthrem into his vest. Her idea was certainly the quickest solution, other than the fact that he wasn't certain he could trust her to not to come back with an army behind her. Especially after he had just kidnapped her. Standing, he turned and began to walk towards Mina, intending to discuss this with her.

As he approached the mage, Elric leapt out at her and he sprang into motion, throwing himself forward into a flying tackle and sending them both rolling across the clearing. Elric's terror fueled strength kept him from fully subduing the soldier, the battle turning tides many times as they rolled about. He didn't want to hurt Elric, but he might not have a choice, he only had 2 bells.

Before Mina managed to do much, Elric lunged at her, attempting to strangle her.  Startled, she froze as Elric's hands approached.

Then, they were gone.  Kiushapo had tackled Elric just in time, and the two were now struggling on the ground.  Mina looked around frantically, trying to find some way to subdue Elric.  As her eyes fell upon Caradol's staff, an idea came to her.

The chrome staff flew through the air and came to rest in her hands as she made her way over to the struggling pair.  Then, the moment she saw an opening, she raised the staff with both hands and brought it down on Elric's head as hard as she could.

((OOC:  I hope there's nothing wrong with using Caradol's staff...))

Elric hadn't counted on being pounced on by what he saw as a blood-thirsty ghoulish figure with blazing golden hair and sharp pointed ears and fangs. With a loud howl of terror, Elric attempted to quash the life out of his attacker, tumbling and scuffling on the ground, neither gaining an upper hand as they both tussled for their lives.

Caradol raised a brow as Mina magically lifted his staff into her own hands. Aware of her intentions, he decided not to burst into a tirade of admonishment at her.

Thankfully for Kiushapo, as Elric's nails dug deep into his throat in an attempt to snuff the life out of the now dirt covered elf, Mina brought down the heavy chrome staff right on the back of Elric's head. With a stiffening and throaty gurgle, Elric loosened his death grip on Kiushapo and slumped to the ground. Elric was subdued and unconscious. For now.

A gruff and weathered voice sounded out from behind Mina, "And now, if you will, young mage, return my staff, and try to succeed at removing this arrow from my shoulder?" Groaning in pain, Caradol's expression was one of weary annoyance, a glint of urgency in his gaze.

Yllanallyiea meanwhile, sat staring mutedly at Kiushapo's vest, anxious for the return of her Yilthrem.

((OOC: A short break from all the action to allow the characters to discuss and plan their next step ... the end is nigh! :evil ))

Mina let out a sigh of relief as Elric slumped to the ground, unconcious.  Before she could help Kiushapo up though, Caradol asked, in what sounded like an annoyed tone, for her to return his staff, and help him get the arrow out of his shoulder.

"Oh, of course," Mina said as she hurried over to the old mage and laid the staff carefully by his side.  "I apologise for not asking first, but I was in a hurry."

She carefully took hold of the arrow protruding from Caradol's shoulder, then gave it a hard yank.

Shooting Mina a quick glance of thanks as he disentangled himself from Elric, Kiushapo immediately stripped out of his vest, removing the Yilthrem from it's pocket and using it to secure Elric's wrists behind the soldiers back, propping the man up against a tree after he finished.

Tucking the Yilthrem into his pants pocket, he stepped to Mina's side just as she yanked the arrow from the old mage's shoulder. Wincing in sympathy, he insinuated himself into the situation, pressing his hand over the wound to help stop the bleeding, waiting for one of the mages to supply a bandage.

The dark elf woman's offer could potentially effect them all, so he decided to broach the subject while he held the wound, gesturing to the woman in question as he spoke.

"The woman I was bringing with us... she has been offering to be bringing us the antidote for Elric's poisoning, but only if we are releasing her to be getting it. He is only having two bells to be living."

Switching hands over Caradol's wound, he wiped his bloodied hand in the grass, cleaning it as best he could as he continued speaking.

"I am not trusting her to be coming back if we are letting her go alone, but perhaps if I were to be going with her, using this Yilthrem as a hostage, I could be assuring that we are getting the antidote. I am not thinking Elric or you, Sir Mage, are being fit for travel just yet, or I would be suggesting we all go."

Focusing on Mina, he gave her a considering glance, "Either of us could be going with the woman if she is accepting these terms, but with your magic, I am thinking you would better at protecting these two."

@Kiushapo, Mina and Ryldor:

Caradol gritted his teeth, and surprisingly did not even wince or groan from the pain as Mina forcefully tugged the arrow out of his shoulder, along with a gush of blood. While Mina and Kiushapo tended to the gaping wound, Caradol weakly expressed his appreciation, "Thank you --"

But before the rest of Caradol's words escaped his lips, a sudden wave of rustling ensued in a rolling crescendo. It was not long before the distinct patter and thud of feet from all directions could be heard. It was, in less cheery words, the sound of being surrounded. And then, a cold, firm voice with a sharp, almost jesting tone drawled out in a distinct Styrash accent, "I hope you haven't been waiting long, visitors to the woods." A figure of a male elf stepped out from a crowd of Larkentirs, tall, well-toned, with a regal air, and those piercing violent eyes atop silver-sheened cheeks. This was Shartrelyend, brother to the kidnapped Yllanallyiea, who Mina, Kiushapo and Caradol would soon find out.

Yllanallyiea cried out, struggling to free herself, "Brother!" The distinct tinge of relief in her voice.

Behind Shartrelyend stood the male elf Neshjullotere, second in command to Shartrelyend, and behind Neshjullotere, stood a number of other armed elves, including one named Ryldor. Neshjullotere's troupe of men had met up with others that had seemingly trickled out from various parts of the woods, eventually merging into a large stream under Shartrelyend's direction. No words or commands were exchanged, they seem to know exactly where they were headed and why.

Kiushapo groaned loudly as Yllanallyiea called out to her brother, silently asking himself what she had to be relieved about, he'd treated her well, she was the one... well, he had more pressing things to worry about at the moment. Like how this man was going to react to having his sister kidnapped, and what it must look like with him running around with no shirt...

Though they were surrounded, they weren't dead for some reason, which meant they still had a chance. Wiping his hands clean in the grass, he stood and bowed slightly towards the regal elf. Taking the opportunity to guage the armaments of the the elves in his view, his gaze stopping abruptly as he spotted Ryldor, obviously not an inhabitant of these woods. His eyes took on a questioning quality, but quickly returned to the leader of the group.

"I am being terribly sorry, but I am thinking there has been a mistake. We were already meeting with our welcoming party, and were recieving such lovely parting gifts..."

He gestured towards Elric, slumped against the tree, his voiced tinged with disdain as he continued.

"Perhaps you could be helping with that? Poison darts aren't something I am knowing about."

Now to explain the elf's sister. Pulling the Yilthrem out of his pocket, he gave the elf a brief glance of it before tucking it away again.

"Your sister was being quite insistent on getting this back when we were first meeting, but I am not one to be doing things at the end of a knife. After we were working out the knife thing I was inviting her a for a drink to be showing there were being no hard feelings.." He leaned closer towards the elf, smiling as if they were old and dear friends "Maybe you could be putting in a good word. Between you and me, I am thinking she could be using a night on the town."

Before she could do much more, Mina heard loud rustling coming from the woods around them.  It sounded as if someone had surrounded the clearing.  Her Spectral Sight soon confirmed this.  She was about to warn Kiushapo when she heard an accented voice addressing them.

The female elf they held captive then cried out, "Brother!"

Her brother is here?  We're really in trouble now...She rose and turned to face the figure who had spoken.  By himself, he would not look too threatening, but he had with him a legion of armed elves, and Mina suspected there were more elves hidden within the woods.  It seemed that none of them was going to make it out of the clearing alive, much less the woods.  This is very, very bad.

Her hands began reaching for her reagents, as Kiushapo began negotiating with the elves.  She hoped that he could buy them some time, though she doubted that he would be successful.  If that was the case, she intended to be ready to fight her way out...though she doubted that they would be successful with that either.

At the same time, she looked around the group, hoping to find some way to break out.  One of the elves, in particular, seemed to stand out from the others.  As she took a closer look, she realised it was the extravagant elf she had seen at the tavern and village center. What is he doing with them?  He does not look like a captive.
