Guidelines

  1. If you wish to edit you CD {Character Description) you will need to copy it from here and edit it in the original CD thread at the top of the board.  It will then be either edited in this archive or the thread will be moved once you are finished to this forum.  Then if I am in the mood I update it in the archives.

  2.
  3. Once a CD has been placed in the archives it original thread will be removed.  So if you first see that your original CD is no where to be found check out the Archives here.  If still you see no hint of it, it may be that it has been pushed off the end of the world and been lost forever.  This Archive is created to prevent that from happening.

  4.
  5. Only Admins are allowed to post within the Archives, with the few exceptions of Mods who we grant.  This is to prevent people from messing this Archive up in their process of editing something..

  6.
  7. Each CD that is in the Archive has been obtained from the thread from the CD with the newest date on it.  If there was more than two CD's in one thread I have taken the one with the newest date on it.

  8.
  9. Please note there there is always a place of mistake.  So if something isn't the way you want it don't start yelling at a admin who tried to do something good.

Sough Whisperleaf of the Helmondsshire Hobbits and a Bard, at your service!

Travelling poet, player of lute, lyre and harp. Learned the art of storytelling at the foot of the well known Gwerolin Shimms, a cousin thrice removed in the village of Shingleswon, where Sough grew up.

___ CHARACTER DESCRIPTION___

Name: Sough Whisperleaf
Title: Bard
Gender: Female
Age: 32  (born in the late fall of 1931)
Race: Hobbit (or “Halfling” to the bigger peoples of Caelereth)
Tribe: Helmondsshire
Occupation: Bard (and Baker)

Description:

Sough is just shy of a Ped tall and weighs a little over four Heb. Her hair is long, thick and wavy; light brown, with a hint of copper strands. Her eyes are a soft, warm brown. Her skin carries a fresh, golden tan.  Her middle isn’t overly-pronounced yet, due to all the exercise she gets in her wanderings.  She is pretty by human standards, unmarked by scar or inked marking. The nails on her right hand are longer than the tips of her graceful fingers, the better to play her lute, while the nails on her left hand are kept short for ease of fretting.

Attire:

Normally, Sough wears a long-sleeved, tunic dress belted at the waist. The tunic is slit to the upper hip, to better show her shapely, tanned legs and feet. She wears a fur-lined cloak when it's cold. Sough likes to display her many fine rings and will change them often throughout the day; She keeps the collection in a pouch on her belt. The colors of her clothing changes with the seasons: greens for spring-summer, late summer-autumn she will switch to tans and browns and white is predominant in the winter.

Bardic Skills:

In addition to playing the lyre, harp and lute with skill, Sough has a soft, voice that carries when she wishes it to. It ranges from lilting to melancholy and is perfect for ballads and lullabies. For livelier numbers, she will resort only to accompaniment with her instrument of choice, the lute.  She has a clever knack for minding tunes after only hearing it once.  Remembering stories and lyrics is more difficult for her… at least until Sough has recited the words a few times and committed the song or story to memory.

Personality:

Though small, as Hobbits are wont to be, Sough is strong from all the strummin' and kneadin' and walkin' about the shire. She has a lot of energy and doesn't like to sit still for long. She has a quick wit and is physically nimble, too. She is a charming, darling young woman… most of the time.  Sough is easily distracted by beauty and glittering things. She loves rings and other jewelry, and tends to covet others'. Though she doesn't steal, she will become envious and jealous. Sough is vain, when it comes to her appearance. She will show off her fine clothes and jewelry any chance she can get. She is hedonistic, too.  One of her favorite pastimes is people watching and she will make up on-the-spot poems for anyone she sees. Some of these are good enough to keep, too!

History

Raised on a farm just outside the village of Shingleswon, located in the Helmondsshire, Sough was youngest daughter of Melwin Whisperleaf, the grower of the "finest pipeweed in all the lands"- or so said all his friends and family, which were quite a few! His wife Daffodil, or Daffi to all who know and love her, was as bright and cheery as her namesake flower. Sough had two older sisters, Sherry and Brandywine, both named for their parent's favorite beverages, and one younger brother Milo.

Like her siblings, Sough had been taught how to grow and process "Whisperleaf" for its rightful use.  Additionally, they all knew how to take care of the farm’s many animals; six, stout-legged ponies, three milk cows, a large bunch of chickens, and a small gaggle of geese- They used to have a number of pigs, but Melwin decided years before that pigs were too much work, so that’s when they acquired geese instead.  Sough and her sisters were all wonderful cooks, too, taught by their mother, grandmothers and many, many aunts. While Sherry made the best stews and soups, and Brandywine excelled at creating cakes, pies, and cookies, Sough was the best at baking bread... such that her immediate family had teasingly dubbed her ‘Flour-mistress of the Shire’. But Sough's love for baking was only surpassed by her love of singing and storytelling.

When Sough was in her early twenties, she found herself spending more and more time with her cousin Gwerolin.  Sough was eager to learn every song, poem and story she could. Of course, she would compose music and lyrics of her own and these she practiced only in front of her family at first.  Then Gwerolin took Sough along to the Rabbit Hole Inn, during a 'Praise to Helmond’ festival (it was the third such festival that year) and Sough finally was able to play in front of a real audience.  While playing for that crowd, Sough discovered she loved the attention; the performer in her yearned for more.

Word of her skill slowly spread throughout the shire. Sough was asked to play at a number of taverns and inns and the coin earned, though unneeded, was a pleasant benefit.  She spent much of her earnings on gemstone rings of Aellenrhim craft, brought into the Helmondsshire from nearby Bolder.  Occasionally she'd encounter a wandering minstrel in some tavern or other and the tales she heard brewed a strong desire for travel in her soul. She soon developed a fierce wanderlust.

Finally, at the age of 32, Sough decided to take to the road. Her goal: to visit all the other shires in Santharia and to learn more songs and tales along the way.  Of course, this was a disappointment for the number of fine, young hobbit-lads who called on her, most wanting her hand in marriage.  Alas for them, Sough was not ready to settle down.  And it may be a good, long time before she will.

Strengths:

Sough is fast and nimble on her feet.
She has very good balance and is not afraid of heights.
She has excellent hearing.
She has a perfect vocal pitch.
She can whistle very well and can mimic many types of birds.
She is a lucky little Hobbit.  The fates are on her side.

Weaknesses:

Compared to the taller folk, Sough is not physically strong and her reach is very poor. (Not sure if these qualify as weaknesses)
Due to her stature, her jumping distance is extremely limited.
She doesn't climb well at all, besides, its not ladylike.
She is deathly afraid of bugs: The more legs she sees, the more unhinged she gets.  Spiders terrify her, too!
She gets distracted easily by glittery items. "Pretties"
She must eat five square meals a day or she grows weak, dizzy and listless- she once fell off her pony from skipping second-breakfast!
She is a deep sleeper.  Its nearly impossible to wake her from even a short nap, however, she doesn't oversleep in the mornings- she is always up in time for first-breakfast!
She has a very low pain threshold.
