Nat narrowed his eyes in suspicion as he saw a boy, what looked to be Corporal Thomas with a man in his arms, a stranger and the lieutenant get off a ship. He was doing his usual round and had just happened to see them from a distance. But what was happening exactly? He made sure to come closer, though as inconspicuously as possible. After all, he and his men had every right to go that way, since they were on their round...

Then Thomas spotted him, so he came closer without any more pretense at stealth. He was about to ask what was going on when Thomas volunteered the information. Nat was somewhat mollified by Thomas's manner. He couldn't detect any of the usual snide in the corporal, it was just a request from one soldier to another. His eyes slipped to the defeated sailors, their captain one arm short. He grinned. Not exactly cruelly, he just grinned. He barked out two names and pointed one to help the lieutenant walk and the other to carry the boy. Then he waited until the group moved in the direction of the palace before he turned onto the gangplank, followed by his men, still grinning.

Thomas

The corporal was grateful that Nat immediately complied, even going so far as to send two men with them instead of the one he'd asked for. Perhaps it was time to reconsider his opinion of the man. He might not like the bullying manners he displayed, but... He might not be too bad a man after all. But that was for later. Right now, he just had to get everyone to the palace. His eyes were burning with fatigue, but he managed to keep himself from stumbling.

He didn't really notice the way they were going, mostly because he knew the way like the back of his hand. This was his city, after all. He knew that they would reach the palace soon enough, but he couldn't help wishing they were there already. What they would do when the group got there? He would see... But then, he was in charge of the group carrying a lieutenant and a healer of the earl, so they'd probably let him in. He hoped... he was too tired to think up any more plans than just getting there.

[Yurie Yileen]

The guard that Thomas was talking to seemed to relish the opportunity of making some arrests.  Yurie noticed the look of suspicion drop from his face when he looked over at the group of sailors who were still licking their wounds; an inane grin taking its place.

When Thomas had finished speaking, the grinning guard ordered two of his men to assist the group.  One of them came over to help Farrel walk.

After introducing himself to the new comer, Yurie offered his further help.

"Say, friend, I don't think the lieutenant here is going to stay conscious much longer.  How 'bout I keep on this arm and you take the other?"

The guard nodded curtly in what Yurie guessed to be a gesture of acceptance or thanks.  Then, once they were correctly positioned, they began to follow the small group that had just set off for the castle.

Thomas moved through the streets at a smart pace; a man on a mission.  Yurie's mind was busy taking in the route, making mental notes in case he needed to remember the way.  The twists and turns soon made him confused, though, and he decided to just focus on helping Farrel walk.

Damn, I hope we get to the castle soon, Yurie thought to himself as they marched along.  All this walking ain't doing Farrel any good at all!
