Chapter One: Infiltration

[Capher]

Terra walks into the room, sets her gear down and leans against the wall. "Good, we are all here." I say. "A little banged up, but at least alive. Now we make some plans, get some shut eye, and head out early in the morning for Strata. Since I do not know Strata as well as I would like. I am asking for suggestions as to how to get into the city, infiltrate the underground and see if we can get what we came for before anyone is the wiser. Any suggestions?"

I look at each of my partners slowly returning their gazes, again assesing each of their abilities. I feel we are missing something or someone. I think about the elf, who seemed to know me, but I did not know him. But there was power in him that I could sense.

"Team, I say. There is an elf downstairs who may or may not want to join our little escapades. But before I invite him up here I need to know what you think? I believe he posses mages powers something we sadly lack. So he could be an asset. But it is up to you."

I sit back awaiting their answers.

[Avour]

"Half Kin Elf come along. Avour want. Then Avour have both Half Kin and Adventure." She says excitedly.

Avour

“You’d be lost if I wasn’t here to annoy you”               – Little Sister speaking to Big Sister.......

[Capher]

"Avour seems to like the idea of adding this elf. What do the rest of you have to say?" I ask waiting for them to respond.

[Koldar Mondrakken]

"Elves might see and heard things we don't even notice. And if he's capable of magic as well he might be of great help against any danger we might face on our search." I add after giving the idea some thought.

"But are you sure you can trust him? I've seen even more strange things than treacherous elves fighting for the other side." I add my only argument that might stand against it.  

Koldar Mondrakken, Knight of the Moonlight

[Capher]

"Yes, Koldar I was thinking the same. However as you pointed out. We lack power of mages right now and if he is as powerful as I sense then he could be an asset. However as you say if he is a spy working for the other side, then we could be in danger." I pause a moment. "Well Terra and Talia, females, seem to have sometimes a better judgement of character. Should I invite this elf up here, just for a quick soirte and allow you two to make some intuitive judgements as to whether we allow this elf to join?

I await their replies.

[Ta'lia of the Seven Jewels]

Talia sits on the floor , leaning on Koldars bed , absently playing with her dune mouse which has returned to her.
„I don‘t know  what to do with this elf. I know that we need some magical help. But somehow I don‘t have any feelings -  neither negative nor positive -  towards this man. When I saw you all who are here in this room now I knew somehow that I liked you, though I didn‘t know you at all. But here I feel nothing and that is somehow worse than knowing that I don‘t like him. None of you knows him either.“
After some moments of silently thinking she continues: „ What kind of magic is  he able to use or does he prefer to use? Does he have protective spells or aggressive ones? Is he able to protect us without doing damage to others?  Maybe he brings us rather in troubles  than helping us. I just don‘t know.“ .....“I have to leave the decision up to you. Maybe if I know him a bit better I will change my mind,  in the moment I would prefer we would stay alone, but“ and with these words she gets up „ I won‘t have a problem if you decide to take him along.“

Terra looks cooly towards Capher as she speaks, "I will have to leave this to you as you have soken to him and I have not.".

“Elf Half Kin! Just like Human’s Half Kin.” Avour looks about the room not understanding why they wouldn’t allow the elf to join. “Spells?” She pauses. “Kol-dar Friend know not Avour and He Human helped. Got big bumped up to help Avour!” She points at Koldar. “Give her sharp pointy metal thing. Why not let Elf Kin join? Let Halfling Avour join.”

Obviously having difficulties with the human logic Avour frowns, thinking. “Avour simple yes, but not understand not-trust of Elf.” She scratches her head and her frown turns into one of complete confusion.

Avour

“You’d be lost if I wasn’t here to annoy you”               – Little Sister speaking to Big Sister.......

[Capher]

I listen carefully to my companions words. Talia, speaks with wisdom beyond her years. Terra, seems to be willing to at least give the elf a chance, Koldar also. Avour, innocent in the ways of the world, is having a hard time understanding why we would not trust one of her kind. And I guess I can understand also. Would they trust me if they knew I was a dragon? Dragons are not that popular period!! Even if I am a rare one.

I pace the floor a couple of times thinking things through. Finally I say. "Ok, I am not sure of this elf either, however we do need power of some mage and whether this elf's power is strong in attack or defense I do not know. But I think that at least we should give him a chance. However, let us all keep an eye on him. If he shows any sign whatsoever of being on the dark side we eliminate him without prejudice. Is that clear?"

I look at each one, including Avour hoping she understands.

"Ok I am going downstairs and will invite this elf up here. In the mean time I suggest that you ready yourselves for the trip to Strata in the morning. Sharpen weapons, take inventory of foodstuff, clothing, what ever you think we may need. Make a list so I can purchase anything If we need it. I will be back shortly with our elven guest."

I open the door and walk out and downstairs.

I walk downstairs to see the elf in conversation with another elf, there are also more people in the bar, I try and catch the elfs attention.

[Almenda]

Almenda see's a man come in, and see him try to get the elf's atention. (The normal elf, not the ice elf.) So he guesses that he's the one who was upstairs. He decided to ask the bartender about the room and songs. " 'Ello my good man. May I inquire as to what type of deals you make with bards. I'm a bard me'self and was wondering if, For a few songs, could get a room." On a side thought, I ask, "And how far is it from here to Strata? And what would be the quickest way there?"

Talia paces through the room, still uneasy with the thought of having an elf in their company. „Aren‘t elves able to read your mind?“ she asks the others. „Aren‘t you afraid that this could happen?? Well, I‘m not sure about Capher either, sometimes when he looks at me I have the impression he sees more then just my face, but somehow this doesn‘t distract me. What about you, Avour, you are half elf, are you able to read our thoughts??“

Avour still rather deep in thought over why the fuss over bringing a ‘full elf’ into their group gets distracted when Talia starts talking about elves once Capher has left the room to invite the other elf along.

“What about you, Avour, you are a half elf, are you able to read out thoughts??” Struggling with what Talia has saidAvour takes a punt at what she meant.

“Avour hear Human Kin talking without moving lips sometimes. Very confusing, sometimes Avour not know who said what. When Avour lived with animals, head talk only way. Never hear Cap-her, he strong head.” Avour tilts her head to one side and looks innocently at Talia. “Avour miss Fluni. <soft deer noise> Animal. Friends. He Stag of pack!” She remembers him leaping through the under growth.

“Gone now, don’t know where.” She looks down at the ground. Moments later she looks up at Koldar. “How is Human Kin’s body? Avour’s blood help?” She walks towards Kolder and looks at his shoulder.

OOC/Capher, i cant find your chars description.OOC/

When talking, i notice Capher has come. I excuse myself and turm to him.

"Hello. Well, i see you finally came.What do you wish of me?" I ask, and nip to the wine.

Wisdom is only possesed by the learning.

This elf is awlfully brash. And a little loose tongued, I think to myself. But at least he is here so I can talk to him.

"I sir, do not know you. So before we begin I would like your name and why you know me and why you want to help? Also I would appreciate if you not use my name so familiar, or loosely. Though my name is known throughout the lands. I am very particular whom I address as friend, for now you are on a trial basis. If you wish, follow me and I will introduce you to my friends. I warn you as powerful as I sense you may be. I am not one to be trifled with. Neither are my friends. So a suggestion, you can take or leave it, be careful with your words. Listen and learn. If you have any suggestions, think about them carefully before saying them. Other than that follow me.

I walk back up the stairs, noticing the bard.

I follow after him, and talk as i walk. "My name is Silfer, Silfer Darkflare, and i actually do not know you. I know only that you are called Capher, and when i departed i got a good description of you. You see,some of my...friends, we can say, know you a bit, so i got a description of you.The next thing, I offered help because you seemed to need it, and the easiest way to get into a chat is by offering help. I am not asking friendship,nor did i await it. Frienship comes by time. And you are right, i really need and will keep my mouth shut."

"He is a careful man, and thats good" I think to myself."And i sense he is certainly not the type to be trifled with.".

"As for why I came in the first place.I seek adventure,and you are adventure. And please, dont take me for a famehunting fool, i am not. I seek treasures, and not only measured in gold. I seek magic artifacts, things long past created and forgotten.I was too long time sitting at one spot, so i desided to go on adventure again.Your name was mentioned by one of my friends, and that i would find you here. So here i am."

I fall silent, waiting for answers.
