I have some ideas, but they will jump out at the group as a surprise, but not until after we have ken in our group.  Okay?

Everyone,

I was thinking of a short encounter we could have right now.  Ever since Capher regained his memory and broke through the mental wall Eckra had put up in his mind, he (Eckra) will likely be looking for ways to stop Capher and the party, or at least slow us down.  Especially now that we are no longer in the elven forest, and that a couple of us are still a little weakened, my guess is that Eckra would think it a good time to strike.

Given that he is a powerful sorceror, he could probably send any number of things (those demon knights the party fought in Chylikis :evil , undead :evil  , orcs :evil  , or even just nasty humans :evil ).  I'd be willing to "throw" something at us if you all think it's all right.

It would give us a chance to "test our mettle" and offer a brief distraction.

Just let me know what you think.

Ta'las

Well, Capher has ideas as well, I'll be ready to let me surprise. The main intention is to meet Ken though. And it should not delay our way to the Vale too long - if you don't find a good way to integrate Eden already now. Some simple nasty men along the road may suffice as well - but it is up to you.

A complaint by me now..:)  don't let me do all the work - we have not been in the clearing yet, it is not described ,how we went there,  how it looks etc, if there is a well or a rivulet or whatever. We need a clear image of the place before we can play in it! These lovely fruits may drag your attention from the place, Ta'las, I do understand this well, :lol , nevertheless, one has to do it.. and I have to leave my beautiful comp now.. :(

Ok, I guess I kind of vaguely described our campsite.  We also have some regular type robbers coming after us, whether they were sent by Garrek, or by this other elf, that Garrek deals with to test us, I am not sure.  That would be up to Teri.

They just could be plain highway robbers and have nothing to do with our mission, except to rob us.  Either way Ta'las was itching for a fight so now he has one.;)

Damn my internet, damn it! I had a nice big, pretty post all ready to make, and my software has to want to update. So I updated it, and it wanted me to restart, and then it was waay past my bedtime, so I go to bed, and what comes next? I miss my chance, the perfect chance to come wandering through the group like I belong there. So now what? Probably wait until the fight's over. I really don't feel like coming in the middle of a fight.

I'm too tired today to post, but tomorrow I will try out my new weapon! Ta'las, you might have it as well, though it was designed for women mostly  ;)

Z'doth, forgot to answer your mail, SORRY.. not much is on the site about the vale, so just invent something!  A wide valley with firtrees etc.. maybe the entrance is a bit narrow, have to read up myself what we have.

Not linked, was too much work..

www.santharia.com/maps/de...ievale.htm

BROWNBARK BROWNIES have always been the most numerous in the Vale and in Akdor. It is said that even before Brownies were dispersed, they were by far the most numerous. Their skin (with matching hair and eye color) ranges from the lightest tan to the deepest shade of brown.

Akdor and the Vale have their share of Bluebarks

REDBARK BROWNIES are a special case. Their ancestry has little to do with their shading, as Redbarks are those that carry a special aptitude for magic... the magic is much more concentrated in their bodies then for other Brownies. Already rare, they are overwhelmingly female, with perhaps only one out of ten being male. They tend to stand a bit aloof from the other shades, just because their lives are so much different from others. In the Vale they have formed their own clan, Clan Maj, which makes their home under the Diamond Falls In Akdor they serve as witch doctors. In Aeolia, they are more numerous, but are just part of the normal population... magic is necessary to survive there, so just about everyone has developed a certain aptitude for it over the generations.

Redbarks have skin that is the deep red of the Cinnabark Pine Tree, with hair and eye color to match. Their eyes tend to glow an even brighter red when the magic is flowing through them. Greybark's sister, Sunrise, was a Redbark.

The Leaf Ferret, known as "Rasher" when tame, are a gliding version of the common ferret. The Leaf Ferret only lives in the Brownie Vale and unlike the common version only can be found in trees which gain them their common name. Leaf Ferrets also have the ability to glide between trees which allows them to never touch the ground. The tamed version of this animal is known as a "Rasher" and is used as transportation and as a hunting or war mount.

The Cinnabark Pine is a giant conifer, with turquoise needles and shaggy red-brown bark with a delicately fragrant spicy scent. Its bark is used as a sweet spice to flavor many foods. This tree is highly responsive to wood-sorcery and elven magic. The great Great Council Tree of the Brownies was created from a Cinnabark.

3.638 b.S           The LLaoihrr tribe begins to inhabit the Vale of Brownies
A scout from second of the groups dispersed by Keekoo long ago, while exploring upstream through a deep gorge, stumbled upon what would later be known as the Vale of Brownies. Tall, healthy trees spread their branches as far as the eye could see. After ascertaining that the valley was uninhabited, and in fact unknown before this time, he rushed back to make his report. The group eagerly passed through the gorge and made their valley their home, naming it LLaoihrr (The Valley City) and themselves Rrao-LLaoihrr (The Valley City Brownies).

The Sling-Shot is a light and small missile weapon, mostly used by Brownies. In combination with hunting knives, it is effective against the smallest animals, for example rodents, bugs and beetles, and small birds. A skilled user can reach a range of 25 peds.

Brownie believes
Spiritism. These Brownies worship literally thousands of gods. For them, every rock, every tree, every stream and pool, mountain and valley has and is a guardian spirit. These spirits must be appeased or bad things will happen, like a branch falling on your head or death from drowning. Stories told around the fire, passed down from generation to generation, of the exploits of these spirits keep the belief in the spirits of individual natural objects alive. They live in constant fear that unappeased vengeful spirits will harm them in some way. Appeasing most spirits is simple. A word of recognition, request, or thanks, a small chunk of meat, a pretty feather - all can be offered and seem generally to be accepted. Perhaps two-thirds of the Brownie population of Aér'aí'chán worships the spirits in some way, most commonly in the VALE OF BROWNIES and in AKDOR.

The Blowpipe is a weapon mostly used by Brownies and mullogs. It consists of a hollow twig or part of a plant and a dart that is blown through it. Generally used for the hunt of bigger animals, the tip of the dart is poisoned, either with a killing or a sleeping potion. The dart alone doesn’t do a lot of damage.

The Blackbeetle, or in Browniin the Eioiei (lit. simply "black"), has - as the name already implies - a shield of a shiny black color; its head and thorax are plain black. It grows up to one and a half palmspans, making it one of the biggest beetles at the southern Sarvonian continent, and its flesh is seen as a delicacy amongst the Brownies. This beetle is found throughout Sarvonia, although it is only hunted by Brownies, to whom the beetle's meat represents an important resource for their diet.

we might get there!

The council tree

Capital city of the Vale Brownies, grown with magical assistance around 1000 b.S. and site of the Council of Clans.

Growing to a height of 117 peds, the Council Tree is probably the tallest tree in the world (with the possible exception of the Tree of Life). It is located in the Vale of the Brownies at the fork of the River of the Reeds and the Snake River (where the houses are on the map). It was grown with magical help from a Cinnabark Pine sapling, so that in only twenty years it had reached its full growth, much larger and taller than a normal Cinnabark Pine. The Council Tree's trunk is 7.6 peds in diameter. It has bluish-green, needlelike leaves, and branches that start at 29 peds up the trunk. The tree is partially hollow, and has many structures built onto the outside of its trunk and branches, with 462 stories, called "levels", in all, 115 of which are below the first branches. There are 45 1/2 square peds inside the trunk at level 1 - the base of the tree. The bark here is a third of a ped thick, and the distance to the center of the tree, which is hollow (about .15 peds wide, continuing the height of the tree and deep underground, filled with vine cable for elevators) is 3.8 peds. The door in level one is half a ped high, half a ped wide, and leads to a hallway around the center a quarter of a ped wide, around which there are five elevators that go directly to level 115, the first branch. These elevators are a quarter of a ped square. Smaller elevators are used for intra-trunk travel. Around the tree is the tree circle, a cleared area 100 peds in diameter.

Sections of the "city" with approximate population:

   *

     Around the tree - 5,000
   *

Under the tree (sublevels, mostly storage and industry) - 2,000+
   *

In the main trunk - 1,500
   *

The upper trunk and branches - 240,000 total population: 250,000 - half the Brownie population of the Vale...

Usages. The Greenbark Moss' main usage is by the LLaoihrr (Vale Brownies). They collect the moss from the trees, careful not to overharvest any particular tree, then dry it out for about five days. When the moss is dried they grind it into a powder and use that as the basis for most of their cooking. The Brownies of ancient Birn also used the moss in this way.

Other races also use the moss; however as it shrinks dramatically in the drying process its use is uneconomical. The amount needed to feed one human could also be used to feed well over a thousand Brownies.

etc...

Zdoth, would you prefer a Cartashian Bear??:p

Ken, I was kind of hoping you would come in at the end of the fight and finish off the last robber. What do you think?

Ta'las

"The Shendar feints a weak blow at the man's throat, who twists away, exposing his left side. Ta'las stabs the man in the abdomen and upward into his heart."

Remember, a aj'nuvic is taller than a horse, you are sitting about half a ped higher than any rider on a horse, so you have to be quite acrobatic to fight like this ;)

How many are around? When do we have finished them all? What are we doing with those who are not dead? (Talia avoids to kill!)

Big situation there, Capher, is that at the given point, that person would be in the minority, and assaulted from all sides. Given the situation, Ken would be almost as likely to assist the robber as attack him. Definitely not a good idea. It would be a lot like when...
