The day has 24 hours and starts with sunrise! (it may be still quite dark then)

The hours of the lit day
Hour 1: Firstflame, Sunrise (first rays)
Hour 4: Lightthrive (marking the beginning of the dominance of the sun)

Hour 10: Sundrown (sun now literally starting to drown into the Void)

Below I've cut-and-pasted the description of The Council Tree.  That's one big tree!   

Ta'las.



THE COUNCIL TREE
 

Capital city of the Vale Brownies, grown with magical assistance around 1000 b.S. and site of the Council of Clans.

Growing to a height of 117 peds, the Council Tree is probably the tallest tree in the world (with the possible exception of the Tree of Life). It is located in the Vale of the Brownies at the fork of the River of the Reeds and the Snake River (where the houses are on the map). It was grown with magical help from a Cinnabark Pine sapling, so that in only twenty years it had reached its full growth, much larger and taller than a normal Cinnabark Pine. The Council Tree's trunk is 7.6 peds in diameter. It has bluish-green, needlelike leaves, and branches that start at 29 peds up the trunk. The tree is partially hollow, and has many structures built onto the outside of its trunk and branches, with 462 stories, called "levels", in all, 115 of which are below the first branches. There are 45 1/2 square peds inside the trunk at level 1 - the base of the tree. The bark here is a third of a ped thick, and the distance to the center of the tree, which is hollow (about .15 peds wide, continuing the height of the tree and deep underground, filled with vine cable for elevators) is 3.8 peds. The door in level one is half a ped high, half a ped wide, and leads to a hallway around the center a quarter of a ped wide, around which there are five elevators that go directly to level 115, the first branch. These elevators are a quarter of a ped square. Smaller elevators are used for intra-trunk travel. Around the tree is the tree circle, a cleared area 100 peds in diameter.

The Orb of Ximax


Summary: The orb of Ximax is "the single most powerful beacon of magic on the entire continent". (Ximan) Any magic conjured there is multiplied thousend fold. To protect the people and the land, the magic academy was found, the towers and especially the shield dome was build and magically enforced to "tame" the orb. Only archmagis are allowed into the dome.
A development idea from Fox was, that the orb is a kind of imprisoned void with the properties of the void , mostly described as being able to distort the reality.

I think I listed the most important parts which describe the orb below. My idea was, that if Capher "baths" in this magical energy (if he is allowed into the dome), then he kind of refuels , being within the powers of that so potent magical artifact.

On the inside of the Circle rests one of the Wonders of Santharia: the Tear of Avá, the Uarná'ésh-dél, the Orb of Ximax... Call it what you will, this immensely powerful sphere of magical energy is the heart of the Institute, and the entire City of Mages was built up around this phenomenon. The only mortal beings allowed to enter the roiling energies within the Orb are the Archmagi, during their induction and meetings of the Conclave. It is rumored that the Orb is truly a place where the energies of the Gods can be focused; where the line between the Dream and Night is blurred, and it is the only place where mortals may reach the divine - or so it is told..." from "The academy of Ximax"

ca. 3000 b.S.       The Forming of the Orb of Ximax
The Orb of Ximax (see entry on the Magical Academy) is formed by a slight gap in the fabric of Caelereth, and the resulting field of immense magical power saturates the entire Xaramon Peninsula.
      
2026 b.S.    Last Deaths by the Orb of Ximax
The last and most famous of the deaths by the Orb of Ximax occurs. A massive flash of light seen as far away as Caelum illuminates the entire peninsula; this is the beginning of the Ximaxian tale of the Founding of the the great magical city.

It is assumed during this time that many wizards may have found the Orb, but not lived to tell the tale, as any spell cast near the unshielded Orb is amplified ten-thousandfold.
      
2017 b.S.    The Orcish Society of Enlightenment moves to Ximax
The Volkek-Oshra Orcs
The Orcish Society of Enlightenment moves to the future site of Ximax on invitation of Ximan Xuran. They help to raise the city and move in with the rest, though it is a rocky start as any who have had experiences with orcs or orchish species do not think of those times fondly and are worried about what might happen. They are well liked for the muscle and magic they helped to lend in the city's building, though.
   Ximan Xuran discovers the Orb
Ximan Xuran and his Circle of Magic find the Orb, and for the first time in known history the Orb is comprehended. Shortly afterwards, Ximan begins calling in favours from those he met on his travels to aid him in shielding the surrounding world from the effects of the Orb.

Wow, and I always thought the most powerful beacon of magic was in the Thealon woods, is that not where the "tree of light" is? or am I wrong?

Is the Rainy, a bit chilly, autumn already here. weather still valid? Mostly asking about the 'rainy'

No Roosje, we have already gone past Autumn and are into the first week of Winter, I believe. So it would just be cold and blustery winds. Unless Talia says different, but that is how I see it, as it was Autumn when we were in the Vale and it took us two or three weeks to reach Caleum.

Yeah, autumn gone and winter coming. There could well be rain though, we are nearly on sealevel. I assume, we will spend the winter in the warm dwarven caves

I'll change the weather slightly, no rain on the ferry, ok? But a chilling wind?
