Human, Erpheronian

« on: July 11, 2007, 10:28:09 AM »

Name: Roland Hampton
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Race: Human
Tribe: Erpheronian
Group: Thieves Underground
Occupation: Thief, Assassin and Acquirer of Information
Title: Underground Thief

Overview: Roland is a trouble making Anarchist who just wants to have fun.

Appearance:
Height: 1 Ped, 2 Fores, and 2 Palmspans
Weight: 1 Pygge and 5 Heb
   Hair Color: Red
   Eye Color: Brown
Physical Appearance: Roland is relatively a slender man and his body shows little muscle through out his arms and legs. In general his appearance is what some might consider handsome though not all out to die for. Also by looking at him one would believe him to be pretty weak and easy prey, and they would only be half right.
His hair is always kept sort and clean yet ruggedly cut. It is the most evil color of red and causes him to stick out amongst most in the ground.
His skin is soft and untainted, showing his lack of physical labor and choice of an easier life. The color of his skin is of a slight tan showing the falseness that he ventures into the sun often. If one where to see him with out a shirt they would see the scars on his chest and back from a younger more abused relationship from his father.
His face tells a lie making him look much younger than he truly is. His ears, mouth and eyes contribute to this lie in their perfect ness and size.
He appears to any normal basic person with a sword. He has no signs of having another weapon or any armor. He does not show his occupation in any way and one would be hard pressed to guess him anything other than a mercenary. Roland does not even appear to be that good with a weapon and one who would see him might think him to be an easy target.

Clothing: Roland has been known to wear many different types of clothing and even makeup as it helps him many of time in his profession but in general he wears the same ol’ kind clothing every day. His clothing choices are very simplistic as he does not wish to stick out or look any different from someone walking on the street. He wears a black long sleeve shirt , a pair of brown pants and brown boots. He does also wear a pair of very thick socks, which very often stink due to his sweating problem, so that when needed he can take off his boots and walk around more silently. On the side of his pants he also wears a sheath for his sword and a pouch for his money, at times he may even have two pouches because of the wealth he gets from his jobs. On the inside of his right boot he has a special sheath for his Judgment Quill, made for easy draw and to hide its presence from any onlooker.

Personality: Roland is a very outgoing and sociable person. He love to be around people and would never travel alone if he at all had a choice. This helps him greatly in fitting in and hiding his true occupation along with benefiting him in his acting skills. Social drinking is probably the only social event that Roland would not take part in and this is only because he must always be on guard. Roland also has a soft spot for the ladies as do they most of the time. He would find no better way to spend his time than with a woman, especially if she did not like him in the slightest, more fun that way. Married or taken women are also extremely fun for Roland at least until they fall for him. At the moment Roland is not capable of a serious relationship and until he finds someone who hurts him just as bad as he has hurt so many other women he will not be capable of it.

Right now Roland is kind of in a learning phase, as he does not really know how to be on his own. He is very good at using the skills he has obtained but has never had to be completely on his own. Never has he not had someone to talk to or to watch his back and this kind of scares him. Not much scares Roland but being alone does. His chosen profession puts him right in the middle of people for the most part, even though he often times is forced to turn on them. When it comes to loyalty he currently has none to anyone other than him self. It would not take much to build his trust and loyalty as he recently lost the only person he had in his life and that job is now open for those who would seek it.

In general Roland tends to think out a situation before reacting on it and when he is forced into a situation with out figuring it out this usually causes him stress. The only exception to this rule is his desire for riches of all kinds, for when it comes to stealing he is a lot less thoughtful and much more prone to thoughtless action. Having said that it does not mean that Roland won’t cause as much trouble as he can, because that is his main goal in life. He enjoys nothing more than starting trouble some how and anyhow.

A true breed Anarchist is what Roland is and he believes in doing what he wants, when he wants and how he wants. As far as he is concerned the Law is nothing other than something that needs to be overthrown. Everyone in power is corrupt and all laws deserve to be broken. He is not in it for the political reasons though yet more for the wealth and fame, its just a beneficial side affect that every now and again he gets to “stick it to the man”.

Roland does not really believe in anyone’s rights other than his own. He sure the heck is not here to help others protect their rights unless they are willing to pay. He has no problem with taking away someone’s rights, violating someone’s rights or just all out killing them. He sees the world as a giant play ground for him to do what ever he wants.

The things that drive Roland, in order of importance are: The Thieves Underground, Money and Companionship and it would take a lot to alter that list.

Strengths:
- Roland has outstanding stealth skills, meaning he can remain unseen just about anytime he wants to.
- He is very proficient with the sword that he carries and could fend off and/or kill those who would threaten him.
- The Judgment Quill is also a weapon Roland is very proficient with, though he is not able to defend himself with it like those who have mastered the weapon, he is more than cable able of killing or wounding someone with it and hiding it before one would even notice his victim.
- Thievery Skills, such as pick pocketing and lock picking, are skills which Roland has used all his life and thus he has grown quite skilled in these areas.
- Roland is a great actor, story teller, people person and a master at disguises.
- He is very agile and capable of moving quickly, jumping high and dodging effectively.
- By appearance Roland is a very trust worth person and accepted by most as an good, caring and honest person.
- He is calm and pensive about his every move.

Weaknesses:- Roland is physically weak and would loose an arm wrestling competition with some teenagers.
- Trouble should be his middle name as he loves to start trouble and keep things riled up and this often keeps him and others in dangerous situations.
- Desperately he desires friendship as he has currently lost someone very close to him and because of this he is sometimes far to trusting to those he might want to befriend.
- He is an anarchist and their for takes ever possible opportunity to fight the law that he can and this gets him in more trouble than anything else.
- Roland thinks out every situation and in fact is stressed out or angered if pushed to act faster.
- Due to his needing to plan out every move Roland can and has lost many opportunity to accomplish his goal.
- He is a kleptomaniac and there for some times will act rashly and uncharacteristically to steal something even if of low value.
- Sweat is a problem that bothers Roland in so many ways, the first and most annoying for Roland has to do with his fighting. During a prolonged fight, excessive heat or a very stressful situation his palms have a tendency to become excessively sweaty and in the past he has thrown his sword far from the fight. This normally results in unintentionally dropping of the sword but as stated before he has been know to throw the sword far from the scene.
- Sweat also has a tendency to play a role in his social standing as in times of excessive heat or stress Roland has been known to sweat profusely and that along with his unique body chemistry, he starts to develop quite a strange and potent smell. Also it tends to draw questions about his clothing being soaked.
- Two of the more rare problems Roland has is when it is excessively hot and he is trying to hide. First is his body odor gets quite strong because of his unique body chemistry along with his excessive sweating problem and he runs the risk of being caught by someone’s nose.
- The second problem is again during the excessive heat of some days he has a painful tendency to develop a rash between his legs which in turn makes walking slightly painful but sneaking just about unbearable.

History: Roland was born in the city of Voldar to Stanton Hampton and Clair Hampton. His father, Stanton, had been a strong warrior from a very young age and before Roland had been born he was a  proud and well known knight. Around a year before Roland was born Stanton renounced his knighthood to stay at home make a baby and “Train” himself “a strong and noble knight!”

Roland’s mother Clair had never worked outside the home a day in her life and never had anything but time on her hands. She was raised by her father to be married young and to make a good wife and that she did at the age of sixteen. When she was sixteen Stanton and Clair’s father came to an agreement that Stanton and Clair would marry. Clair had all the time in the world in her empty house, because her new husband was always gone saving someone other than her. Because her husband was quite wealthy she always had plenty of what ever she wanted and once she discovered, The Book, she became obsessive. She began reading to pass the time and she didn’t stop reading and learning until she was twenty two.

When Clair was twenty two Stanton decided to renounce his knighthood  and stay home. Clair had already learned that Stanton was controlling and overly aggressive so to her this was nothing but bad news. Fist of all the reason he decided to stay home was he wanted a little “knight to train” and his single encounters with his wife once and a while were not creating him and little knights. So to get the job done right he decided he needed to stay home and  work some over time trying to make this knight of his. Unfortunately for Clair this meant many nights of beatings because of his disappointment of his lack of baby making ability.

Around a year after Stanton had returned home for good, Roland was born. From the moment Roland was born his father was proud to have a boy who he could mold into the greatest warrior alive. Clair on the other hand was not going to let that happen.

For the first part of Roland’s life he went through more sword training than most who train to be a fighter would ever go through. Though this training was quite beneficial for Roland it angered him greatly. His whole life was being controlled by his father and the only purpose behind it was for his fathers selfish sake. Most of these feelings Roland had though did not come from his experience with his father, thought the beatings and strict rules of his father helped, but yet his mother implanted most of these feelings. For every hour Roland spent training with his father Clair made sure to spend two hours teaching him from the books she had learned from and turning him away from his father. She did this with great skill as before Roland had hit the age of eight he had developed a strong hate for his father and everything he stood for.

Clair had many secrets through out her life and turning Roland against his father was not the only one and maybe not even the biggest. During the many years that Stanton was gone it was difficult for her to buy things that she wished as everyone knew her husband and father, and they did not look upon her reading fondly. She was forced to take drastic measures for such simple pleasures such as reading. Through searching she found she could buy books at the least but anything she wanted from a man name Marcus Han, a very nice man, who was involved in the Black Market. She never endeavored to purchase many illegal goods from him but he was a way to get books, though a little expensive, as if money mattered, with out anyone finding out. Of course this started out as a very simple and quite legal engagement it lead to be quite a bit more serious and intimate of a relationship. Though it came to be extremely difficult when Stanton came home it was still possible for her to keep her affair going he was much more interested in training and him self than her.

Marcus was in the black market trade and was a former assassin for hire. He knew all there was to know about theft, locks, stealth and even acting and disguise. His weapon of choice was also the Judgment Quill. Clair, in an attempt to undermine her husband as always, introduced Roland to Marcus and, though unaware of their relationship, Roland grew quite fond of Marcus, especially when he found out he was part of the Thieves Underground. This was something that was barely even a rumor and it excited Roland greatly, partly because of the excitement of the whole thing but mainly because of his rebellious intent towards his father.

A couple more years went by and things started to get difficult and heated between Roland and Stanton and also between Roland’s parents. The problem stemmed from the fact that Roland was now being trained by Marcus in every aspect of thieves life and though Stanton did not know this, he did know something was going on. It was far to often that Roland was no where to be seen and no matter how hard he beat Roland the answer never came out. Roland had also started to live more and more on the street and that was showing in his every act. He was starting to show more and more disrespect to his father also. All of this along with the fact that his wife, Clair, was getting bolder and bolder and she had also come up missing at times, really angered Stanton. All this anger brewed with Stanton until one day it was all released, all at once. It was a day when Clair had come up missing and Stanton went looking for her but could not find her anywhere. He eventually gave up and returned home to find his wife at home with a smile on her face that showed she was filled with a happiness that just angered Stanton more. He rushed over to Clair and with out a thought or a care he beat her to death. Just like that she was dead and as he stood over her covered in her blood Roland entered the room. Stanton did not even move but instead just stood there staring at his now dead wife breathing deeply in to that broad chest of his and Roland stood watching in horror.

After a couple of moments Stanton evenly turned to see Roland and just as he did Roland ran, not even knowing why, but only knowing where to. He ran to Marcus, the man who had been like his father and told him what his real father had done. Marcus hit his knees and wept but only for a moment. He then jumped up, with a quickness that Roland had only seen in training, and grabbed his Judgment Quill and that was it. He hurriedly left his place of dwelling bringing Roland along with him, and telling him he needed to see this. Roland knew what was to come and he dreaded and welcomed it at the same time. He had wished for a long time that his father was dead and now he was fixing to see it happen.

Upon arrival Marcus did not try to hide but instead walked right in to Roland’s house and when Stanton saw him with Roland he proclaimed in anger that Roland was going to die but before he could do anything Marcus took his Judgment Quill and placed it with great ease into the mans heart. Stanton and Marcus stood silent for a couple seconds looking in to each others eyes. Out of the middle of the seemingly awkward silence Marcus said in a low and calm voice “Even in death you shall not have my Clair.” With his father dead and gone Roland only felt a slight sadness and an even greater relief. The thought of his mother still haunted his head but somehow with his father dead everything seemed better almost as if it was proof that the world can be made better, by ridding it of authority. As Marcus left Roland continued to stare at his fathers body and as Marcus walked by he handed Roland his Judgment Quill and told him it was his to remember that authority always corrupts.

Marcus kind of adopted Roland though it was only superficial as Roland was more than capable of taking care of him self. The only thing Roland really needed from Marcus was training and he received a lot of it. Though it was still kind of a mystery to Roland, Marcus told him he would help him to join the Thieves Underground. Marcus kept his promise and got Roland in to the Thieves Underground though he was not sure how as it was almost an organization that did not exist. One day Roland was working on his own and then he was notified about a meeting by someone who he never had even known. That’s how it always was, you just found out what was needed or when your going to meet someone. The jobs just seemed to roll in and sometimes it would be months before a job came in, which was fine since the pay was massive, but you never found them, they always found you.

Through the years Roland gained much experience from the many different solo jobs and jobs given by the Thieves Underground. He stayed under Marcus’s wing until he died of old age, when Roland was twenty seven. After alerting the Thieves Underground of his intentions and having no attachments what so every Roland was free to travel and find meaning for his life while the whole time starting trouble everywhere he goes. Because of the nature of the Thieves Underground and with it covering just about every Santharian City Roland is always on Call to the Thieves Underground.

Weapons: A Long Sword (Kept in a sheath on his side.) and Judgment Quill (Stored on the inside of his right boot.)

Belongings:   A single pouch on his hip filled with his wealth from his last job.

To make it easy on some here is where I got my Info:
The Judgment Quill Is it spelled wrong on the page?
The Santharian Thieves Underground
Erpheronian Tribe
Map

Also on the weaknesses I did have help but I'll let that person take credit if they want to as I may have butchered the whole thing and they may not want their name attached to it.

Be gentile as I tried so very hard to get it right this time and I put a lot of time into it. Thank you so much for anyone who replys.

Judgement quills are good weapons, but how exactly does he use them to assassinate? Or does he give people a good stab between the shoulder blades with his long sword, and use the judgement quill to protect himself on occasion along with the use of his long sword?

That is actually in the entry about the weapon. They are uses simply to pierce. A quick jab in the heart, jugular or some other vital spot and they are dying while you walk away. It can be used as a defense but my character does not use it that way, he does not know how. The sword he could use in assassination but that just depends on the situation.

Haven't I commented on this CD before?

EDIT: Yes I did. It would be much easier if you have just edited your last CD.

Well Thorgas I have a very good reason. It's not the same character. If you read it you well see that it is completely different and the only things that are the same are the name, occupation and gender. That’s about it. I was so very disappointed with how my other one turned out that I decided to redo Roland completely, Hope he is much better because I put a lot of work in to him.

Wow, that is my first thought. I think it is well written but maybe use spell checker, I seen some added letters to some words and some were spelled wrong but other then that it is very good.  Good luck on getting tittled. I don't think it'll be long till you do.

Thank you, didn't think anyone would remember me. I am also someone else you know Kalina. From long long ago before Roland. My very first role-playing character was way way way back when this site was VERY different and my role-playing was much more immature.. I even had a story at one time and then my life went to hell. But now I am married and finally getting a good job. No more leaving for me! I hope.

Now I hope that I can get some comments on this character.

Hello, Zack. (Yes, I know Roll Eyes .)

Is my comment on your last CD applicable for this new one? There are many CDs which needs my attention and since you already have an approved character, I will just be checking theirs first. Don't worry, I think you will have no problem with this second character. Thumb up

Your comments from my last character will not work for this character and as for turning to other characters that is fine, i can wait.
