Well I am too young to work but now my naughty and evil sister is growing up she had been working in "NEXT", (a big expensive clothes shop) for quite a while and is now senior sales in womens wear, but is soon getting promoted to womens wear manager. I do not know how much of a pay rise she gets, but I do know it means a bigger discount for her family (that is me) on all there clothes. I love "NEXT".

Yeah, here minimum wage is $7.50, but competitive wage is more like $10 or $11. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody hiring under $8, though most are hiring at $9.

Luca, as another Albertan, I'm in the whse industry, and here you can't hire for less than $12 while average is $14-$16...and that is a new hire with no skills

and Zack, congrats on the promotion, and a $6 raise is good in any economy
