Yes, it has been comatose for a while! Anyway, I've finished my PGCE now so the pressure is off over the summer...but only a little because I've got loads of stuff to organise for September! Still, I've managed to get a post done and will be able to give this story more attention. Hopefully we'll get moving again...

Lovely to see a post again after this story's little lull! Congrats on the PGCE, Yurie- I'm guessing you'll be starting as a full blown teacher in September, then?
Expect a post from me soon. I've got plenty of ideas and plenty of free time. I've been around, but couldn't really think of any way Kyros could progress except by wandering onto to deck, probably worrying. Now he can wander onto deck, probably worrying,
and
listen to Eric's announcement, which will give him even more lovely new things to worry about!

Argh, I have very nearly finished my post, and I'm now going to be computer-less till next sunday! It'll have to wait until then, I suppose. Sorry about that. Really, I should never set myself a specific date to post as something almost invariably gets in the way

Great posts! I look forward to Fu waking up and being very confused.
I'll be on a journey without internet connection until 24 August. If meanwhile Jovloff's Gold picks up pace, please could you contrive to have the unconscious Fu to be 'joined' to the pirates' party? I wouldn't want him to miss out on the horrors of the treasure island!

And don't worry, Fu, we wouldn't dream of leaving you behind. Let's just hope that nobody mentions your wizardry to Eric - he has a keen dislike of magic...
As for the job, yes, I've managed to get a position teaching a class of Year 4 kids. They seem a nice enough bunch but the sheer volume of work and responsibility that goes with it feels overwhelming at the moment. I fully expect my first year teaching to be the hardest, so I'm preparing myself for it as well as I can. Our history topic for the autumn term is ancient Egypt, so I'm looking at ways to link everything else to that; should be fun!

To avoid the internet, exerting will power is one option. Not to take a smartphone when going into the wilderness is another. We were hiking and camping in Iceland.
