Yeah!

I hope it is ok, that I brought us a bit forward.

Has anyone an idea, how and when we could meet Aminah? Shivering Woods? At the ferry?

Big Grin  Oo!  I'm still excited about joining here, still!  (Sorry, but it has been a while).  But it's partly because I got invited here that I stayed on the site, so I can't really complain.

It seems to me that either they meet on the ferry and find some reason to talk to each other, Aminah gets into trouble and they help her, or the group gets into trouble and she helps them.  She's not great at the mindsoothing but she'll try and help if she sees you need it.  She can do a bit of basic first aid stuff.  Alternatively she could cause a problem for them if she gets stressed.  When she mindsoothes she sort of radiates calm, so if she's angry/frightened that can also lash out in bursts.  That would let them see what she is, as she doesn't have a name for it herself so she won't be able to tell them exactly.

I suppose anything they could tell her about what she can do would make her want to travel on with them a little way, even if it's just the name "Mindsoother".  Or possibly they could tell her that Capher might know more, and she gets involved that way?

We may actually have a good reason to seek out a Mindsoother now, though I must admit it was not intentional.

Just a heads-up on what's happening with Ta'las: you may recall in the Vale during one of his 'dreams', the Shendar was awoken by a pretty bad nightmare.

http://www.santharia.com/adv/index.php?topic=4287.msg233006#msg233006

I've been playing with the idea that Eckra - or perhaps one of his minions - is using Ta'las' 'dreams' as a way to enter his mind and fill him full of negative thoughts to sway him from the quest.

This could be the 'cheap diversion' from the Heart poem.

Strong is your will, your friendship true,
but evil is sly, deceives the best
be watchful to not to fall
for cheap diversion.

I apologize for not being around. I have been in the hospital...again. I am beginning not to like that place. I came down with double pneumonia. Anyway, I have recovered enough to come home, but I am still recovering slowly.

Aminah I so look forward to meeting you finally and I am glad that you decided to stay around.

Ta'las-your dream idea is viable. Eckra is attacking our minds, however since Talia and Terra are now protected by Brownie magic and healing he cannot attack them, but he can attack you, me, and even Aminah if he thinks he has any chance of disrupting our quest.

Of course all of this has to be looked at and approved by all the players, especially Talia, since she is on top of this story more than I these days.

I know there is more I want to say, but I cannot recall it all.  Perhaps in the near future I will remember and post it.

Oh Capher, get well soon. Pneumonia, how awful!

Don't worry about forgetting things, it happens to me so often..

Ta'las, I think it is a great idea. But exactly how should that diversion function?

I do think we all need Aminah.
Capher is afraid of what lies for him in the future and what will happen in Ximax
Ta'las is disturbed anyway, Terra will feel this as well and maybe she interprets this a a kind of rejection
Teri misses Jeheraid
Talia is full of thoughts regarding her heritage and might be interested in Aminah because she is from the south as well
Roosje ? I don't know her enough, yet.

I would vote for a more dramatic encounter with Aminah then just on the ferry.

I think I wrote somewhere above, that I would like to rescue her somehow and think we are generous to let her come along with us. In Ximax we could part and then the group realises, that we urgently need her ..

Another question: Aminah, do you have a horse? You could ride with one of us. But Roosje, is your fox quick enough to hold our pace, or do we have to put you two in a saddlebag? I don't know, if the fox will like this!

To be honest, I really didn't know if a fox can run as fast as a horse, so I looked it up.

Apparently, they can. Top running speed is 48km/h, according to this source: http://www.biokids.umich.edu/critters/Vulpes_vulpes/

Which is the same as a horse galloping, see Wikipedia.

So yeah, I think my fox should be able to keep up with the horses ^.^

Talia, the diversion is functioning to attempt to push Ta'las away from the quest by driving a wedge between he and Capher.  My thought is that Eckra sensed the strong bond of friendship between Ta'las and Capher, and felt that if he could break this bond, he could 'divert' Ta'las away from the quest.  At the same time, he could have thought to cause enough trouble among the other members of the group that he could hinder us from reaching Ximax.

Hopefully my last post will help us determine that we need Aminah along with us. Speaking of Aminah, how and to whom are we going to rescue her from and what will the situation be?

Have you, Talia and Aminah given some thought to this?

Uhm... This is probably just me but at the moment I kind of have the feeling that I might just as well not have written my previous post. Even just one small sentence acknowledging that I said something would have satisfied me, even if I didn't talk loud enough, but I might just as well have kept my creative energy and used it for something else.

Or else I'm just tired and searching something behind nothing. That's also a possibility...

There you go Simonne. :)

At this juncture I think if Eckra wanted to truly cause Terra to retire from the quest it would be through Ta'las. If they became closer he may be able to convince her to leave, how close they become should this occur may influence how they leave. I think if Eckra was to make a last effort at getting Tarra and Ta'las to leave the he should let them grow closer and then play on there desires, have Terra and Ta'las at ods with there feelings and trying to resist each other. If Terra were to become with child, it would be a sure way to have her retire from the quest and not become a martyr to Ta'las, or Ta'las to Terra. Think I am thinking quite a ways down the road though, but perhaps some where along the line Eckra will realize that perhaps he has been doing things the hard way by trying to drive a wedge between Ta'las and the others, instead he should have driven Ta'las and Terra closer together and let biology solve his problem for him.

Alright putting my evil villain hat on for a moment to explain a possible thread of Eckra's thinking toward the end aimed at Ta'las and Terra.

Through out the quest he attacks various members trying to drive wedges, destroy friendships, even unsettle them, all things they resist naturally. Now Eckra could realize there is a easier way to get Ta'las and Terra out of the way, a way they would not want to resist. Rather than trying to destroy there relationship with jealousy, allow it to form and bind tighter, feed desire in the relationship and bring them physically closer together. Do so slowly so it seems the nature growth of there bond till they can no long resist their desire and share a bed/bedroll together, the end result being Terra becoming with child. Sooner or later Terra will be emotionally (For the protection of her unborn child) and/or physically at she draws closer to child birth, I am sure at that point there is a good chance Ta'las would go with her to care for her and the unborn child she carries. Now assuming the remaining party failed in there quest to stop Eckra, the child could be used to keep Terra and Ta'las from acting against him, placing the child at "Dagger Point" such that any attempt to appose Eckra would put him/her in jeopardy. If he was feeling even more twisted when laying his plans even make them serve his cause for their childs sake.

That would be an interesting twist... may I go on evaluating on it?

Random thoughts....

Ta'las battles Eckra - with the help of Ta'lia (maybe you are not successful in the beginning, but I have an idea how to bring my Shendar brother back) and finally wins - maybe with the help of Aminah. And then Eckra tries to go the other road, leaves Terra and Ta'las to get closer (or even forces this, if he can), while he still troubles the others as usual.
However - and there comes my splendid idea:

Eckra succeeds in some way and the group splitters up, gets imprisoned for some years, whatever (what would mean a true break in the story, where we would not continue to write the story , but have just a few passages describing this time), but after six or seven years, "something" happens, gods intervene,  and the group finds together again. What Eckra planned, to use the child as a hostage, works not out, but the child will be his ultimate destiny. The innocent which will cause the failure of his coming back. How the child will be his destiny - no idea yet, but that should not be the problem ;)

Now let's see, what I can answer in the thread.

Roosje

Men!  buck Too busy with themselves, it fts toTa'las current role and Capher has problems with his ears, don't you know that? ;)

Edit: Maybe, if Ta'las doesn't want to listen to Terra and Ta'lia talks to him, and maybe we are a bit noisy, Aminah could already now join us. Because we are a bit embarrassed with our behaviour we want to apologise and take her with us to Ximax? Just an idea.

Roosje, I'm just about to reread wjat all have said after I posted the question:

Your fox is on the table too? In a tavern? With all the meals served? How big is that table????

Edit: Maybe we should try to read each others post more carefully, eh?  buck

Terra, Capher has left already. Roosje, maybe it is just a sign of Capher's current weakness, that he did not really response to what you said.

I aplogize Roosje for not answering or acknowleding your presence...my mind was on something else, Capher's was, not mine, though I admit with recovering from pneumonia, and double that as well, does make my mind wander, especially when I breathe hard.

As far as the thought of Terra and Ta'las having a baby, and then that baby being his undoing. It sounds alot like my Wizard of the White Tower story, however it sounds like it could work if we could put the pieces all together.

Aminah could be at the inn, sense our distress's and offer to help.
