Oh, Yes.  You know I love the Banner pics.  The one for FD is great.  It adds a bit of class to a story.

Hurray! Lili is in the inn! I don't know whether the barmaid is supposed to be a mod-played NPC, but if not, I may  have her serve a drink each for Lili and Kassandra in my next post? Unless, of course, unforeseen things happen ...

About colours: Airyn has a handsome green-grey in her first Kann Kemruhnt post - but I don't actually know how you get this colour. Is there some special code?

Lili , dear, you did a great post as expected - just one question - why do you think, Altario looks out for a Shendar guide through the desert? 

I mean, the fees for a ship from Varcopas to Strata are not so high, you could work for your transport! Put a hood over the head of your bird and try to no annoy somebody and you might not get thrown over board too soon!

But I see your point. I'm not up to scratch with the details of Sarvonian geography, so I do really appreciate hints like this.

On the other hand: I did not write that Lili crossed the desert without a guide.  I just didn't tell the details of that trip. Is it okay to leave the post as it is, or do you want me to make a change?

Let me read it again - you were quickly fast as well, so it seems, but as you have not mentioned a timespan, you might be off the hook!

On second thought, Talia: actually, it's probably more fun if Lili & Kass haven't seen the desert yet. There'll be more surprise and hardship to describe when the treck is on the way. So I'll make a few changes. Do let me know if the timespan is unrealistic, though.

Yes, I think you need more than just two months to ride from Ciosa to Varcopas, I have forgotten how long the ship will need to go to Strata. But not as long as travelling through the desert, I suppose. You would probably not choose the route through the Sharadon, I'm not even sure there is one - but around it on the westside.

And be aware, that the education of any "normal" Shendar man does not allow him to be other than respectful to any woman

I see Talia is going to be the guardian of accuracy.  Best we all brush up on our desert knowledge.

Oh dear, changing posts is more difficult than I thought. Hope it's all consistent now!

But Talia: Lili's admirer just goes to show that you don't know your Shendar men as well as you thought you did!

Oh no!  Do they now have an own life? 

I just had the thought, that it is a bit like in Tintenherz (Ink Heart?), that book from Cornelia Funke, where writing (and reading aloud) changes people, history, everything. So don't write too much about Shendar men, otherwise I have to re-rewrite them

Lili, are you now for the first time in the Herald? Maybe you have missed to change that little bit. It would be important to know for how Lori would react to your bird.

I just looked at the map and I can't blame you for riding over the Nirmenith mountains, but the only way to get to Varcopas would be the road along the coast. The mountains are fairly impassable (no paths except those the Shendar know)

It was easy to prevent Lili and Kass from becoming pioneer mountaineers - I only needed to change one word!

But they have been in the Herald before, on a day trip from Strata. (As the post says - I know it's long.)

Let's assume that they didn't stay long, didn't interact with Altario, Lori or any other significant character, and that Kassandra was well behaved (she can whistle and croak, too, you know - like a well brought-up bird should!). Feel free to make up things Lori may have noticed. But nobody needs to have noticed Lili, if you don't want.

And don't fear for your precious babies. Lili won't start a cultural revolution in the Shendar lands. Not before she's completed her quest, anyway!  I'd enjoy it, though, if I could feel free to use artistic license with individuals Lili meets, as long as these individuals are not central to the story.
