[Foraste Lydan]

I was wandering the forums the other day and found an old rpg idea called Home Sweet Home. The idea was that you could make a house, kind of like a CD and then you could roleplay there. The idea was good but was discontinued due to lack of interest. I was wondering if there would be any interest for it now.

If we can get enough interest in this, I would be willing to reactivate it.  I know that I had Altario's estate created, and had plans to hold a Remusian BBQ, but I had moved and was offline for a couple months and never had a chance to do it.  If anyone else is interested in this being revived, to either join my BBQ, or to create your own Home Thread, please post your support for this.

I'm still but a humble newbie, but this sounds like a great, creative and fun idea! Though perhaps personal homes should be restricted to mods, or only allowed to be created if you get an invite. Otherwise, if anyone could create a home they could rp in I could see it all getting a bit confusing and hard to moderate.

I'm sure the entire hobbit population of santharia (myself included) would be more than willing to attend a BBQ

Thanks for the support, I was thinking that anyone could make a house description, like a CD then the mods would choose the best ones to be published.

I suppose here is where I come in to poke holes in the boat and let in the water.

The problem, as I understand it, was that they were unused and considered unnecessary. Your proposition of having the mods choose the best one leads to the question of "who?" and of course the other question of "why didn't they pick mine?" which might lead to scores of whiny newbies.

Since you've demonstrated that it might not sink once it's back up, there is the question of "why?" What you're suggesting appears to be a "story-lite", being that it's like a story but sans plot and possibly easier to approve.

How about this guys, there seems to be a bit of an interest, but I am not sure it is enough to justify pulling this idea back out of the archives.

Altario and I will talk about it, but if you want this to work, you will *need* to have a player base interest. There isn't much yet, from what I see. There are too many holes as of yet.


EDIT: One thing you may wish to consider is, instead of reviving the actual idea, create a story around your home/household. Similar concept, but a bit more freedom.

The whole idea of this was to have anyone that wanted to, could create a home thread.  This would be a place where the owner of the thread could create an environment to which others could come and "vist".  The mod of each thread would be the creator of the home.  These would be a one thread type place.  It would have the leeway granted to have a bit of a story; something akin to the TH or Kann.  No involved storylines, where people need to travel.  These are not RPGs in that sense.  It is also not a spring board to having a hundred orcs surround your house so that you and your "guests" need to fight your way out.  It is a simple, peaceful thread, that is more geared toward developing your personality (IC), and writing skills (OOC), and maybe spreading some knowledge of other tribes and races if it is done right.

If that is kept in mind, then we can discuss going forward.

There has been no new interest in this concept, but the ideas we have so far are:

Individual houses that go through a CD process. To create organization, unused houses would be put in a sort of archive, like with unused characters so we can keep the boar clean.

The houses operate as a sort of TH and are used for character development and writing skills, an sort of as an in character water cooler.

There would have to be a house template moderator, so houses that fit our guidelines would be allowed in instead of having haphazard threads thrown in.

These are the  ideas so far and I hope we can get more support.

After reading the posts in the support thread I think I know why there was not much support. Most santharians are travelers, constantly on the move. I have an idea for the travelers. If they have no set home, why not a camp, set it up the same way as a house, confined to one area. It wouldn't have to stop there. Make a tavern that they are staying at, a cave they are hiding in. Some sort of temporary dwelling. If they have a job make their workplace or office. As long as its something they live in or work in, they could make it.

Perhaps, though I don't know if that really was the problem.  We need not have eveyone have their own thread, as such, but rather, have people "visit" the threads that were built.  Sure, we need new threads to reflect the new people that are here, as Petros and Kareesh are no longer active on the boards, so I'm all for new threads.  But to be successful, it needs to put into use the threads that are/will be created, and not just the creation of these threads themselves.

I know but the feeling I was getting from the messages was that most people were travelers, and if they wanted to make a home they couldn't. This could encourage more people to play.
