Should we close Frozen Darkness?
«

Hello. I'm Altario Shialt-eck-Gorrin, President and CEO of Frozen Darkness.
As many of you know, I had a brush with mortality a month ago. After leaving the hospital and returning home, I hinted at putting FD back in the box. Since then, I have had some interest placed in keeping it open. Part of my decision was in my own lack of participation, which I think had to do with my illness as anything else, for now that I have had a few weeks of recuperation, I find that I am better able to post and concentrate than I had been able to for months.
However, that was not the only reason. Lack of player participation was hurting us as well. True, the entire site has slowed down, mores the pity, and it was becoming so that only the mods were playing. Now, I'm fine with this if you are, as my opinion is, that if we put forth a quality product, others may join by seeing what it is we provide. If we do go ahead, then I suggest that we regroup, redefine our goals, and present a more concise, streamlined product. People can't join if the story isn't there.
To that end, I leave it to you to tell me if this story should be salvaged. I will base my decision on the amount of interest shown. No sense beating a dead horse.
Thank you all. Remember to try the roast beef and tip your waitress. Don't drink and drive.

Would there be a way to perhaps complete it before closing it? I realise this may mean some plot adjustments and skipping, but I would prefer to see this completed than put away.
In light of this, I do owe you a post ^.~

Completing it would definitely be my preference. And if I get some optimistic responses, part of our regrouping and streamlining of this will be to put it on a path to completion instead of having it flail about directionlessness.

*Jumps up and down trying to get Alt's attention, yelling* Keep it! Keep it!
I would love to see this story continue / get finished. I should be around more often and be more helpful (
). No more extended trips in the near future (I know I have a bad habit of disappearing for months at a time
. As both you're Co-mod and a player from the start, I'd love to see this project continue.

Everyone to the Banshee!! One story that is super active is better than a shed load of small stories that have maybe only 1 post every 2 weeks.

A valid point.
Though, if those involved are happy with the pace, then it should be their choice. Thanks for contributing to the debate.

Although I do not participate in this story .... I would scream a resounding NO. I will use one of the most enduring stories as a baseline for my opinion. Thalambaths Heart has had many bumps, curves and downtimes, yet the dedication of its core players keeps it moving. IMHO this can be said very much so for this story as well.

Those actually participatiing will have to judge what more they can get out of the story for their characters, that will be the deciding factor.

I suppose I
did
sign up for this. I'll throw my lot in with Garret. I'm finishing up my placement in two weeks time. If the ship doesn't sink by then, I can guarantee my involvement as I'll have the free time then to actually do things... You can count me in.

Emphasis above is mine. Typically "Do As I Say Not As I Do" is not well taken Ylaya. Since you do not happen to participate in the story, I suppose your opinion should be considered moot by that reasoning as well. Perhaps you would do well to keep your opinions to yourself.
After all, if you aren't going to say anything nice...

Well, should we decide to continue forward, then I would look forward to your involvement, Syvaein.
And all opinions are welcome here. Though Ylaya is not part of the story, I appreciate her input in this discussion.

I say keep it open! I would hate to see it closed, as this is Sylvia's first story. It's like...an unwritten rule to close the story in which someone's first character is involved in a story for the first time! Plus, I would like to continue modding it. I know I wasn't that big of a help, but I did my best and that was my first time as a Story Mod. Please don't!

No!
If people are happy with the speed at which it is going and it has a core of people who are having fun, as well as dedicated mods keep it going. As far as I can tell ... it has all three of those.
Not everyone is necessarily interested in RPing in an inn/tavern ... or with too many other RPers.

Sývaein Sorossa, please, just calm down. After all, I was only suggesting something, no need to punish me for it.

I am still somewhat new to the whole world of RPing and this is my first major story. I had been wishing that the post rate would pick up for months before it basically stopped altogether, at least at the Southern Gate, where I am at now. I think it would be a shame to stop the story now, at such a pivotal point in the story (what with the orcs being inside the city and all). Keep it open!

My fault, Galthas. I will take the blame for that, as Capher was trying desperately to keep it going. For months I had been tired and my concentration was low. My posting with NPCs was the first casualty, I'm afraid, and FD has many of them.
