"Excellent!" Ridgen said in a pleased voice. He then proceeds to take out a stone from his pocket, of the aquamarine kind, and focused upon it. He felt that throbbing headache return as well, but he brushed it aside as he forced himself to focus onto the task. By throwing the stone at the ground and increasing certain influences as it went, Ridgen managed to conjure up a considerably small sized ice wall - about a ped and a half or so high, and a ped wide, it was good for what he had in store. Let's see if the girl has the resourcefulness to do the following. It shouldn't be too hard, after all, the answer lies in the dare.

"My dare to you, fair lady,
Is relatively simple.
Your task right now is, you see,
to make this small wall crumple.
Use any means as neccessary,
But be quick, be fast and beware,
For should the wall melt naturally,
You would have failed the dare.

"The wall doesn't need to crumple literally, just a hole through it or half of it broken off is fine,"
the elf said offhandedly. This shan't be too hard, but let's see how it goes.

When Salena heard the mans dare she forced back a smirk. For he didn't know how well she was with her blade no she wasn't the best, but she had enough training from her grandfather who was a solider in the war back in his time. Salena glanced at the ice wall, "Hmm, now this wall doesn't seem to be as thick as the trees we have back home. Those were hard target practice." Salena thought to herself.

Salena pulled out her long sharp blade from her sumple waist, and stood in position. She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them to reveal the shimmer in her brown eyes. She quickly glanced around the room to make sure she had enough room to swing without causing others harm.

With one second Salena spun around in a complete turn and forced her sword into the ice, at first it didn't look like Salena had done much damage but as she went to take another swing with even more force she noticed that she did in fact slice the ice wall in half.

"Now Mr. Point Ear Man, is that all you have for me? If these dares are all this easy you might as well give up and walk away now," with that she put her trusty sword back at her waist and turned around to James, "The fun just started, I sure hope you don't lose too quickly James, it sure would be a pity to get beat by a girl with a sword." She quickly gave James a wink to let him know she was only joking around with him and meant him no harm.

Something during that dare changed Salena, she was much more confident, and more willing to pull out her blade. She didn't know if the point ear man was playing what they call "magic" again or if this was all her doing.

"Impressive. I like making first turns easy, else it won't leave room for the more fun things. How about we hear another dare?" Ridgen said. He really was impressed with the girl's strength - something to note if he was going to ever have to fight her. Now if only this throbbing headache would go away....

Santhos looked down at the young woman, she seemed very lost and confused. "I believe that both of these people are meant to be taken to some room upstairs where they can sleep off whatever ails them and return to the ales they choose."

Santhos gently lowered the two people gently onto the bench. He turned to Thorgas "If you need anymore help feel free to ask. I'm not capable of solving everything but I'll do what I can. In a while I believe I will return to some of those ales myself. But for now I believe that I shall get myself a riddle."

Santhos laughed and began to walk away toward the open door of the stables.

James stared at Selena with some shock and awe. He had figured she had ability with a weapon but was rather amazed by her display of force in the midst of her slightly more soft spoken mannerisms. Then she changed just a little bit, she stood up straighter, she was looking everyone in the eye, and she began to make jokes about him. This was strange yet, somehow, nice.

"What can I say? I'm a boy with no whip. Though don't think that I'm going to be losing so easily. I believe its your turn to give him a dare." James raised his eyebrows and smiled. 'This is getting interesting in a many ways.'

As Salena stood there listening to James response, she noticed the pointed eared man make a very non-noticable look. Almost as if he were in pain. "Well," Salena started saying, "I can't really think of anything special, so I chose something silly." Just then Salena thought of it, if this man was in pain as she pridicted, why not cause him more. She gave a grin and continued, "Run at full pace into the that wooden piller." She pointed st the post that the dagger had been thrown into.

"Now hopefully you can do that and still be able to stand after," Salena let out a soft laugh.

Ridgen sighed and gave a small shrug. Seeing that running 'into' a post wasn't the same as running 'at' one, he won't be able to spare himself the pain. "Alright then," he said, a few steps from the post. He ran at it, but at the last minute, twisted his body so that his shoulder would absorb most of the shock. The results were less painful than it could have been. "There you go, dare completed," he said drily, before he noticed that the half-elf had returned. "Welcome back! We were about to start your turn.

"So what will it be? A dare, a riddle or combat?"

Santhos watched as the man ran into the post. 'I'm going to hope that was a dare, if not, I'm worried for this mans sanity.'

The man turned and saw Santhos welcoming his return. Santhos listened to his question.

"Oh, a riddle most definately. Its been too long since I've had a good one to sink my teeth into." He replied without hesitation.

Santhos listened for the mans response with rapt attention.

"Very well.

"Here be ten strands of straw.
Turn them into nine,
Without removing a single straw,
Or else you won't be fine,"
Ridgen said, laying out ten strands of the stuff on the ground in front of him. This was also very easy - after all, it is the first round.

"Since it's the first round, I gave you an easy one. Let's see what you make of this."

Santhos listened to the riddle and mentally cringed at the mans rhyming straw with straw. Moving on he looked at the straws and pondered the problem in his mind. 'You could break one straw into two but then that would be eleven, you can't remove any straws... Oh Wait!'

Santhos leaned down and picked up three straws. He threw two of them into an adjacent stall and the third he took in his oversized hands and calmly snapped it in half. He placed the two halfs back down next to the others.

"I believe if you count that, it makes nine. I did not remove a single straw, I removed two. Which would you care for? Riddle, Dare or Combat?"

"We'll see about a change in the pattern, then. I'll take a riddle, if you please," Ridgen answered. He hasn't done anything that required a lot of thinking lately, and a challenge like this would be rather nice. Let's see what happens next.

Santhos looked at the elf. "Good choice, anyone can run into a wall, but not everyone can solve a riddle. Very well then, lets see which one?

Beginning to sift,
Stuck in your eye
Wears down the mountains,
blots out the sky.

Moves on to nothing,
Once you throw in a tail.
If you search the right places
You're bound to not fail.

Ending the end
It's pounded enough
Will make smoothest smooth
and cause all to be rough

Happy solving"

Santhos watched the elf and glanced at the other patrons to see if they could make heads or tails of his language.

"Just how many guesses do we get for this?" The elf said, rather stumped. This headache really isn't helping.

Santhos looked at the poor elf struggling to find the answer and took pity on him.

"I am a riddler at heart, so the number of guesses doesn't matter, so long as you give your rational. But for the sake of time, however, let us limit guesses to.. lets say... Within two turns of the time given. The turns will continue as normal but after the second turn ends, one must give their final answer of the riddle. If the answer is correct we move on if not then the person must drop out, or chose combat."

"Now, lets have a guess now and whichever type of trial our young friend here would prefer."
Santhos indicated James.

'I hope my riddle wasn't too hard, I'd hate to have this game end so quickly.'

"Is it sand? The beginning to sift is the letter s, sand gets stuck in your eye, it is carried by wind, which rubs it against the side of mountains to slowly wear it away. In a sandstorm, it blots out the sky.

"'Moves on to nothing' means the next letter is or is related to the letter O, which has nothing in it. Throw in a tail at the end and it becomes an 'a'. If one searches the right places, it's easy to find sand.

"The end of the word end is the letter d - which is also the end of the word sand. Sand can make things smooth when turned into fine-grade sandpaper, but turns things coarse when rubbed up against anything in any other state. This is merely a guess, though."
