He turned to the spry young human.

James watched the exchange of the two elves. It was interesting watching them match wits with each other. The larger one seemed to have a bit of an edge on the demon possessed one however. The demon was probably just playing with the new comer and letting him think he was ahead. Then they both turned to him...
"My choice?"
James couldn't decide, there were too many interesting options
"I'll take your choice of dare or riddle. If I don't like whichever one you give me, I will differ to combat."

"Riddle it is, then!"
the elf said, putting his hands together, before crouching down and scratching something into the rock beneath his feet. At first, he was afraid that the scratches would not show, but his worries were for nought as the words show themselves, clear as day.
"Your task is very simple. Figure out the word hidden in what I've written,"
the elf said, pointing to the cryptic little puzzle he's set up.
The scratches on the sand clearly say 'U.N. Owen Was Her?'
Ridgen looked on at the boy, watching out for signs of figuring out what the word was.

James looked at the demon/elfs scrawl and scratched his head. He couldn't see much in what was written. Perhaps if you eliminated the capital letters.. No, nothing. He didn't want to look like a fool, so he looked up from his musings to say
"You've been rather unhelpful. 'The word hidden in what you wrote..' What does that mean? I can see a few words like 'now' and 'Washer' but Im not sure if that is what you meant. Would you care to be clearer?"
