AAIB Chapter One Writer's Award Nominations

Now accepting nominations for AAIB Chapter One posts for the Writer's Medal!

Selecting only two posts from the 137 posts that make up chapter one is quite a difficult undertaking ... however I have chosen a couple of posts.

I have really enjoyed all the posts, in particularly, I like the ones by Jarrox. One that has caught my eye by him is Post #21 (Reply #20). It starts off with: His meal finished, Jarrox quietly leaned back on his chair, licking his scaly lips with a long, forked tongue. Jarrox constantly makes me smile and laugh when I read his posts, and for that reason I'm choosing him as one of my nominations.

For my second nomination, I'm going to choose one of Gilith's posts. Specifically the very last one of the chapter, Post #137 (Reply #136), in which he gave a (not very glamourous) judgement on the members of the heroes. That post starts off with: Gilith watched their party with unease. I chose this one because in it Gilith was giving his thooughts on his companions ... I like the whole noble and glorious companions who get along perfectly business, but I enjoy the companions unsure of each other even more, and I think that Gilith has captured somethin along those lines perfectly with this post about his uncertainty and misgivings.

There were others who were close for me, but those posts take my vote!

I chose one of Irid's posts--one which begins, "Irid nodded at Alýr’s answer." I chose this for two reasons: first, Irid's description and tone helped create the feeling of uncertainty and danger I was trying to create, and did it so well. It was very well written, and helps create that haunting tone. Second, she uses Styrash, which is not always easy to write in, but helps create a feeling of authenticity to the elvish interaction.

My other nomination is one of Juliette's posts. While she's no longer with us, I believe this post was beautifully written and shows so much insight into Juliette's character. It begins, "Juliette bid good night to her companions before making her way up the stairs and down the hall to the fourth door on the right." Her drinking, her carelessness, but inside, her homesickness and concern for her 'family'--it was a really lovely perspective into this character.

I nominate Jarrox's post beginning with "After David finished eating, the pair walked deeper into the maze of stalls, looking for a smith or an armorer who can repair his hauberk and find another bowstring to replace his fraying one." Because it's funny 

And the second post I nominate is Alyr's post, "Night deepened in shades of black and purple." Because I am impressed with her ability to write elvish poetry, and I like how it's just a little bit of quiet in the whirl of being chased by demons.

Sorry for the delay. Internet has been scarce for me. But I nominate Dek's faster than light speed post as it was very well done.

As well as Tak's safety demonstration post that was very funny.

I enjoyed Rayne's post commencing "Alýr closed the door, though not without glancing out to make sure no one was there." Baddies already!

My other nomination is Ridgen's "sweets" post. Now, let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start. Opens with Ridgen thanked Rayne for the coin before walking out of the inn along with everybody else, following the crowd to the marketplace..

And Roy, the posts you mentioned are in Chapter II.
