"55 Words" Writing Contest

The esteemed and wondrous 55-Word Writing Contest is back! Gaining your inspiration from the topic, write a 55-word piece: it can be in whatever format you like, as long as it is 55 words. No more, no less. Post it here, so others can read and comment on it. At the end of two weeks, we'll make a poll in which everyone can vote and whoever's piece receives the most votes is the winner for the month!

New inventions change the world. We all know that. The human race makes so many advancements that it would be hard for us not to realize eventually. But are all of our changes really for the better? I think as I look upon the wreckage of our society and wonder how we went so wrong.

Trouncing, thrashing, twisting...
Sharp sounds of metal against metal,
Clanging, clashing, clanking...
Red orbs ablaze like an inferno,
Leering, looking, locating...
Jump-starting into a consciousness,
Ripping, ravaging, rending...
Wreaking havoc on a thumping pump,
Sent agony ringing through conductors;
First emotion born to life mechanical-
