So...without giving too much away, I really need some ideas for spells based around manipulating living things (well, ok, if you know my dev history, you've probably guessed what I'm up to already, but I like the air of mystery...even if it's fake).  If you've ever played Dungeons and Dragons, then things like Entangle or Charm Animal.  The spell's target must be a living being and the spell cannot outright kill it.

Please, any ideas are wonderful, however simple or far-fetched!

First of all. God Bless You! I'm sorry for the outburst but I just love seeing that Dungeons and Dragons is still around. I especially love how you gave a link to it!

Any way ideas for binding spells.

Stone Blood: Affect the blood in a creature by making it all go towards a center point which would cause all of the limbs on a persons body to scrunch up on it and be unable to move.

Stone clothes: Causes all of a certain material on a person such as cloth to gain stone like properties. Thus making their clothes and cloaks heavier and non flexible. This would stop them from moving and weigh them down extremely. So if one of your enemies fell into water or something like that they would sink like pardon the pun a stone.

Thats all for now but I think I might be able to think of a few more.

Haha, yes, D&D is very much alive and well as far as I know!  I can't see computer games killing it off yet - it's just so openended, plus far more sociable to all play together.  It does take time to prepare and run though, which is my current reason for not playing it.  And the fact that you can get a large proportion of the information online makes it a lot easier to run a game as the players can actually look things up themselves without having to steal my book.

The Stone blood is an excellent idea...I shall definately be using some form of that.  Yay!

Unfortunately I can't effect the clothes of a person, because the clothes themselves are not alive.  The skin of the person, however, is perfectly doable.  evil

Edit: I'll probably use wood rather than stone though, as again, stone is not alive and therefore not a property I can use.  Argh, complications.

Ah here is an interesting one.

Sticky Skin: Silly name yes but interesting. When you cast this spell on someone there skin immediately sticks to anything it touches. Thus if someone was holding a book or leaning against a wall he couldn’t' get off of it and it would successfully stop them from being able to fight normally and even move is the circumstances were right.

Stone blood and stone clothes would be spells for an earth mage. In fact, my earth mage uses a version of stone blood to slow bleeding (the spell is on the magic list).

Other nature type spells (without taking que from D&D) could be the ability to communicate with Pendrowe. By influencing a Pendrowe's behavior, one could call them, make them defend an area or use them as soldiers. Powerful spells could influence trees and large plants.

The ability to enhance certain effects of plants would be neat.

Stone blood probably wasn't a very good name for the spell. Rather than making the blood heavy and unable to move it would make the blood all shift towards a center point on a person and cause their legs and arms to fly to their chest which would render them incapacitated and etc.

So I suppose a name like blood curl would fit this spell better.
