Have you seen it?

I don't want to give too  much away for those of us who have not, but I just wanted to say: I LOVE IT!!

1) Great actors, even though I only know the old crew from LotR Let's see... Bilbo <3 Thorin <3 Fili and Kili <3
2) Oh my god 3D. This is the first time (and I have seen a couple of 3D films) that I'm really REALLY impressed with the technique.
3) And just in general, the visuals and the storytelling... the little things they changed from the book (I'd read it just before going to the film) only add to it instead instead of subtracting from the story (I'm looking at you, Faramir  )
4) Not all the dwarves are axe-wielding stocky Scotsmen!

The only thing that was a bit of a shame was that some of the dwarves felt a little tagged on, they run along with the rest of them but they don't get much screentime, so I'm still confused as to the identity of some of them. But then, that's what happens in the book as well. 13 dwarves are harder to tell apart than 4 hobbits, 2 humans, an elf and a dwarf, and a wizard. Not the film's fault.

So, in one word: LOVE!

I can't wait to see it. I'm not sure when I'll get to, as I'll have to find someone to watch Lu. Most of my friends are going to a midnight showing, but obviously can't do that as she's asleep and my husband is working.

But, in honor of it, I'm having a LOTR marathon party on Saturday. So far 3 people have told me their coming, so it could just be me and my parents. Ah well, at least the food will be good.

I'm curious to see how they make The Hobbit into 3 movies. I can see 2, but 3 seems like it's pushing it to me. Like they want to do a trilogy because LOTR was a trilogy (even though that was 3 books and the Hobbit is just one)

It's because they add more stuff, like the tale of what Gandalf does when he's not with the party

I also believe that the movie will go into far more detail about certain things mentioned in the book but not entirly explained. Such as how in fact they were able to remove the necromancer from mirkwood perhaps? As well as a few other things like maybe Beorn's trip through the forest to find out the truth about the dwarves story. Little things like that when explained in detail could significantly increase the amount of material that they could show.

Also a bit off topic but does anyone else think that if anyother Tolkien book is made into a movie it will be the "Children of Hurin"?

Old Tom was the one part of the books that I did not like, and was glad he was cut from the movies.

That's exactly what I meant, cause most of what Gandalf is up to when he's not with the party is getting rid of the necromancer in Dol Guldur

The Hobbit desolation of Smaug was amazing, Has anyone else here seen it? If not I'd recommend it greatly.
