Flowers are plants that take their primary identity from the size and shape of their blooms. They may have other uses or special abilities, but are generally known as decorative.

ALLIA, THE
Importance. Flower producing poisonous berries used mainly for dying hair.
Summary. The Allia (plural Allia as well) is a small plant that bears a flower ranging from a soft violet to a grayish purple in color. This plant bares a dark purple berry cluster that, though poisonous, can be used for dying clothes. It is found across mid-Santharia, thriving in heaths and fields as well as near forests.

BLACK DESERT ROSE, THE
Importance. Supposedly cursed rose species.
Summary.
Commonly seen in the Rahaz-Dath Desert this jetblack flower is rather rare. It is the general belief of the local population that those who find such a flower will have bad luck the rest of their lives and they have cursed the flower many a time when it was indeed found.

CERUBELL, THE
Importance. Beautiful flower, found near lakes and rivers.
Summary.
The Cerubell is named for the flowers it produces during spring. The name is a combination of cerulean and bell, as the flowers of this elegant plant are a azure blue color. CRIMSON ROSE, THE
Importance. The symbol of vengenace for the
Kar'ii, used as sedative.
Summary.
The Crimson Rose, also called "Assassin's Rose" or "Lady's Heart" is the symbol of the Kar'ii order of the Echiilianni and they are also the ones who mostly cultivate them. ERISSA'S TEARS, THE
Importance. A beautiful flower, announcing the end of winter.
Summary. Erissa's Tears is the commonly used name for the Ynia. It is a tiny light purple flower that is usually the first to appear at the end of winter. Often emerging as the snow is receding.

GEMFLOWER, THE
Importance. Contains a crystal with magical properties.
Summary.
The Gemflower is considered one of the most unique plants in all of Sorren. It has a delicate sort of beauty that can be found in few other things either natural or artificial. The most surprising thing about the plant is the fact that it develops a large crystal that is perfectly round in shape. These have peculiar magical characteristics, though different for every plant and every location.

HANGING HORN, THE
Importance. Sharp, insect-repelling smell.
Summary.
The Hanging Horn is a flower that would stand almost one ped high erect, but hangs (hence its name) almost to the ground. Its leaves surround the base of the flower in a whorl and are oval shaped with deep veins with a length of 12 to 14 cm. The stem is round and smooth with feather-like hairs growing around it near the base. The stem tapers off to connect to the 6 sepals protecting the base of the flower. The flower itself can be any shade of red, orange, or yellow and is one petal folded to the appearance of six petals. It only blooms once from the spring to early summer at which point the petals wither and die. At the end of summer, it casts its seeds that are located in the pouch at the base of the flower.

INJÈRÁ'YRÁNÁ, THE
Importance. Bright, yellow sun-rose.
Summary.
The Injèrá'yráná, or Sunrose, is a bright yellow rose that is prized by the many elven tribes of Sorren. It is believed to be the first domesticated rose and is seldom found outside of elven gardens.

LOTANN FLOWER, THE
Importance. A common weed/flower plant, which is also edible.
Summary.
The Lotann Flower, or the "Blondladdie", the "Smoke-inna-Sphere", "Beggar's Kafe", "Beggar's Salad" or the "Springweed" is a common weed/flower plant, which was initially restricted to the Sarvonian continent, but in the latest years they have spread through most of Sorren.

The petals of the Lotann Flower are just like a blond bushy head, pointing to all directions. The emerald green, sawtooth shaped leaves are nearly as long as the stalk itself. The long and thin roots dig deep to get the stuffs that are necessary to flowers. They dig so deep and are so though that it is really hard to pull the entire flower out of the soil.

LORAHOUGH, THE
Importance. The fire-starting pods are very useful.
Summary.
The Lorahough, or Fireblossom as it is sometimes called, is a red flower with orange leaves. In spring, Lorahough is only visible as a tiny green shoot. In summer, the flower practically explodes with growth. It got its common name when a farmer, seeing a large patch blossom overnight, thought his fields were on fire. The petals and leaves are both very dry and soft once grown. Any cold snaps will kill the flower, but extreme heat is worse.

RIK'TYAN, THE
Importance. A rich mead and tart spice.
Summary.
The Rik'tyan ("All-Flower") can be found throughout the Celeste Lowlands and The Mynian Plains. It is low to the ground and has a white flower, only blooming for three days in the fifth month of the Santharian Calendar. It can be used universally amd plays the main role in one of the great feast times of the barbarian tribes, the Taug Rik'tyan.

ROSE, THE
Importance. A beautiful and sweetsmelling flower.
Summary.
A domesticated woody stemed plant, with glossy green leaves, grown for its beautiful large blooms. Most have rather pithy stems with thorns. The flowers are followed by brightly coloured false fruits called hips, which are fleshy receptacles formed from the stalk beneath the flower. The true fruits are the 'seeds' within. Flower colour varies from intense red and almost black to yellow and white; breeders have also just produced a deep blue rose. The beautiful flower of the rose, surrounded by the stem's sharp thorns have long been a sign of love and romance among humans. Roses have been cultivated on a large scale for their petals, which are used in scent manufacture, notably for Chonal, a scent from Milkengrad.

SUNFLOWER, THE
Importance. A flower representing the sun and thus happiness and cheer.
Summary.
Sunflowers are large flowers containing vast quantities of seeds, mounted on wide upward growing stalks that are a wonder of plant architecture. The Sunflower is a name that actually comprises three very similar annual plants that grow in various situtations in Sorren. To different races they are a sign of possitivity: happiness, cheer, even luck, health and hope represent the sun to certain elven tribes, and may also be given in bouquets as a symbol of long life, health and happiness. All types are easy to cultivate as the seeds are not very difficult to collect, and as long as they are grown in a sunny spot, they grow magnificently. [READ MORE] Return to the top

TRIFOIL, THE
Importance. Three-lobbed plant, source of clover honey.
Summary.
Common ground cover. Three-lobed leaves, small white flowers full of nectar. Grows wild everywhere and releases characteristic honey scent when trodden on. Popular bee flower, also good grazing.

The Wild Rose
Importance. Venomous rose species.
Summary.
Special, venomous rose species, extremly fast growing. One of the most popular but however weird methods of defense during the War of the Chosen was to cultivate large hedges of this plant species. It was almost certainly created by an unknown mage to serve for exactly this purpose.
