At Azhira's suggestion I went through and re-organized the Magic Menu to make it easier to sift through.  I also removed many of entries that don't have much to do with Magic.  If you spot any entries missing or have a suggestion on re-arranging the menu please let me know.  

Edit:  Oh also, I have a few things marked with ? to denote that I wasn't completely sure where to put these entries.  Suggestions on where they should be placed would be most appreciated.

Speaking in my capacity as a Misc. Mod, Magic Bags either belong in artifacts or in gear and tools. I don't rightly understand their prevalence from reading the entry, but because they are magical, I lean towards the artifacts menu in any case.

I just did some perusing of the Misc Menu and found that Magical Bags are already under Gear and Tools so I think it would make it easier if we just left them there, no?

Actually, the Brownie Magic entry was more of a description of specifically the Memnoor system than an overview of Brownie magics in general.  But I did more or less write it from the perspective of Ximaxian researchers, who I thought would indeed pretty much have regarded it as an overview, and hence not be very hesitant about labelling it "Brownie Magic".

Aye.  I read that when I was going through the entry but I thought it would look a bit foolish to have "Brownie Magic" and then a whole bunch of empty sub-links for all the other Brownies tribes.

Thinking it over, I guess I could change it to Memnoor Brownie Magic for now and if the other Brownie Magic Systems get developed we could rearrange it then.

1) Instead of removing the entries you mentioned, why not list them under both menus? For instance, deity companions are listed in both the bestiary and cosmology menus. The more accessible the information, the better! Keeping them under the magic menu would give a more rounded list of all things magical in Caelereth.


2) Perhaps we could arrange the items thematically? For instance, the cosmology menu has various categories (such as 'artifacts', 'beasts', 'calendars') under which entries on a common theme can be collected.

We could have categories such as:

- Types of magic / schools of magic / concepts / spells
- Magical Artefacts
- Magical Creatures
- Magical Flora
- People

I personally wouldn't be completely opposed to it.  I mean if I was going to look for a Magic beast, person or plant, I would look under the Bestiary, People section or Plant section.  That being said, if people think its helpful to have, I guess we could keep it.

I'd want to wait for Mina's opinion before making the decision to keep them in or remove them since it was originally his idea (according to his notes in the Entry Status thread) to have them removed from the menu in the first place.

What Drasil said.  I assume that people would probably look at the other sections instead.  But if entries can be listed under more than one menu, well, that does seem like a pretty good idea.  I don't know why I didn't think of it before.   buck

That said, I'm not sure if everything should be retained.  I understand how, for example, it would make sense for things like golems and elementals to be here too, but what about things like the apparitions?  There are also other things in the bestiary menu (and maybe other menus as well) that look like they could maybe fit here too, depending on what criteria we use.

Regarding just the artifacts, I think you will find that almost every artifact in the miscellaneous menu are magical in one form or another.  this includes the weapons artifacts.  So the question is simple,

Do we want to duplicate the entire artifacts list in the magic forum?
Certainly is fine with me.  but I don't particulalry think it is necessary.


the same concept with the Beastiary.  We already have a section called "Magical Beasts".  We could simply duplicate that entire section in the magic forum.
the same concept with the People. We already have a section called "Magi". We could simply duplicate that entire section in the magic forum. (P.S. Anilya needs to be listed as  Magi.)

The Mystran is considered a demon, and not really magical. The Black Unicorn should be a demon? Mythological? It doesn't seem like an apparition to me. The Chimaera is a beast (or demon?) and mythological too.

So Azhira is pointing put that the beastiary perhaps needs some maintenance.  I agree the Black Unicorn is not really an apparition.  and i am not sure why the Mystran and Chimaera are called apparitions if they are not listed as apparitions. So yes, there are a few things to get right there.

So I think if we get the "Magical Beasts" list to be accurate we can use that list also in the magic forum.

Seeker highlighted exactly what I wanted to avoid.  I didn't want to include all these entries I took out because I felt, if they were included, so would a whole bunch of other entries that aren't currently in the menu.  (I believe we had this conversation on IRC Azhira).

If everyone is okay with copying over every single mage person, every single "magical" place and every single summoned beast, demon, ect. then I guess we can include them otherwise they should be left out.  I don't think we should have some and not others, which is how the magic menu is currently formatted.

The Elemental
Grass Ripper
Imp
Golem
Slimer
Spyder
Void Sails

The rest are either Beasts, Demons or Apparitions and belong in other menus.
