Title: Mira's Krean Immigrants
Post by: Decipher Ziron on 14 February 2007, 06:06:41
I was under the impression that the Krean immigrated after the breaking (i.e the year of Darkness) to the drifting woods, but the history of the Vikhari state they were there fifty years before?

Is that incorrect or did they leave Shar for a different reason? Or am I just missing a really important point that is literally staring me in the face (in the form of Coren)?

A confused Decipher,

It says 'ca' 1600bS -but yes, it should be placed after the "Year of Vikhari"

 Mira!!! Would they interpret the Krean's coming after the terrible losses of the Vikhari year as a sign? I see an opportunity to invent a couple of myths and add depth to the history and interaction between the two tribes!

My "Vikh sense is tingling!

Ah yes.. in fact, a fairly well known bit of the Vikhari history ( many facts have hazed off into the lands of Myth and Legend, due to the absence of a decent written history ) Is the aforementioned Year of Vikthi, where a yet to be determined 'oracle' went on to warn of several life-changing future events, two of the most important ones being the Cycle of Life and Death coming to the turning point soon, which was considered fulfilled when the world froze over, and the 'Completion of the People', wich was fulfilled when the Krean, some bearing a sign the Vikhari believed to be Vikthi's (aka the Eye of Aniss), arrived seeking refuge. Of course, present generations have come to see the greater truth behind this, as the addition of the Krean bloodlines into the Vikhari stock made some severe changes in their fysiology, most noteworthy being the Mark now born by all adults.

the years in the history are a bit off, i must have been counting backwards at some point by accident. The Krean have about ten years to arive at the Woods after the Breaking, more than enough time to slowly wander about the continent, and develop serious cultural issues with other groups within the exile forces.

Yes, but how would they perceive the Krean arrivals after the prophesies, the first of which was recently fulfilled? Awed/respectful fear? Especially since they bore the eye of ankriss? Perhaps this is why the Krean -despite their small numbers- were able to leave such a long lasting mark on the tribe. They utilized the deep influence they had over the vikhari from early on?

On this note Coren what is the eye of 'aniss'? Who is 'aniss', is it a typo of 'ankriss'?

Coren: An alternate name not a typo :) The eye of ankriss is mentioned in the appearance section of the Krean entry

Close Coren.. they will be able to benefit from the fact the 'Vikh are mostly borderline religious fanatic cases. they live to serve Vikthi, despite their lack of religious commands and such. They will not like it, but they will be forcing themselves to let the Krean live among them, and as time passes, they will slowly stop distrusting them. The Krean now, accustomed to intricate politics, will have little problems using this to their advantage to give their new neighbours ( and themselves) a bit more civilisation, significantly raising the social standards. ( the 'Vikh are a nice bunch, but not verry sophisticated..)
