Title: Elven Lass with Coa'Coa
Post by: Bard Judith on 14 May 2009, 20:14:57
A tribute to Gean's Muse - and incidentally an illustration of a bird we didn't yet have depicted - the common pigeon or dove.  Hope it passes muster.

As always, critique and commentary welcome.

Gean, hope you approve of the way I've softened the hairstyle to help 'youthen' her face - not that your lady needs assistance, merely my depiction of her!

Yay!

I'm sure Gean will be delighted with this picture - marvelous illustration, be it character or dove! Wonderful, Judy!  :D

Aura +1

Judy, that picture is just stunning. The amount of uniqueness to your style is always so lovely to see, it's smooth and etheral. I particularly like the trees in the background, as well as the flowers gracing the ladys hair. My biggest compliment has to go to the dove's wings, however, because they look so magical and beautiful. Props to you Judy, and an aura as well...

I agree with those compliments.  I specifically love the dove, very well done, I look forward to seeing it posted in the bestiary.  I also like the feel of the picture, very innocent, happy, .... elfy.

An area of suggestions deals with anatomy.  It appears her neck is a bit too thick for her frame.  I think the problem is that her right shoulder molds directly into the neck.  She is missing her trapezius muscle (muscle in between the shoulder and neck).  Not that we want her to be a body builder but a soft trap muscle and a thinner neck I think may help.

Overall, very well done. :clap2:

Lovely pic, Judith  :D

I especially love the dove!  (oooo poet and didn't know it  :P)  One little critique.  The hair is crsp and clear, down to individual hairs, as is the lace on the blouse, but the facial features and especially the ears are more soft and blurred... not sure how the two styles mesh.  But content wise, it is a wonderful pic.  WTG. :D

Thanks so much for the feedback, peoples!  I'll integrate those comments in the next little while, and hopefully Gean will also weigh in before the next update; at any rate, we'll have a dove illustration, right?

Now, can anyone use this lass for a people entry, or suggest a place to put her in the meantime?

She seems to fit the Kayrrhem Elf profile.  That entry could use a pic.

Can go into the Dove entry, also in the entry on Eyasha, where doves are used as symbols (entry is still very basic though). And maybe we find a place for that elfy girl as well - let's see what Gean thinks :)

Art, you're too generous!   I'm glad it's meeting with favor - and perhaps demonstrates a slight elevation of cheerfulness on my part, as opposed to swampy miasma.

Speaking of which, if you can use that swamp background as is, feel free - I'm still working on a creature to place in it, but that's a surprise so far.   I'm sure we have swamp / marsh / bog entries that aren't illustrated!  And of course you can use for Santhworld as necessary.

"...Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter
In there stepped a stately pigeon from Santharia's days of yore
Not the least obeisance made she, not a minute stopped or stayed she
But with mien of lord or lady reached the girl that I adore
Perched upon the arm now held out by the girl that I adore
Perched and sat and nothing more..."

Ok, the fifth line is terrible, but I was a syllable short :b

You have my blessing :D

Judith, that portrait is incredible! What do you use to draw such marvellous pictures?

(giggles at Gean's fair-o-dy)  Bravo!  I hope she likes it as well - I'm NOT a portraitist, but couldn't resist that lovely shot....

Airyn, thank you, but I'm still learning!  A little bit of everything, actually: Art Rage, Paint, Photoshop, Terragen, Sketchup...whatever I need for the parts of my picture.

You still making final touches with that one, Judy? If possible before the next update would be fine, then the dove is definitely in. :)

Had a look around regarding swamps, but we don't have a proper unillustrated swamp entry as of yet. Actually the Silvermarshes entry alone has used up pretty much all swamp picture we had... So it's definitely time for a new swamp entry somewhere. We have the Baych Swamps in Nepris - would that fit? Note sure... Could do an entry more sooner than later, but I'll still have a look around...
