Title: Athaliteum Alphabet
Post by: Perabium Pelatorium on 21 October 2012, 17:07:37
So here's the first sample of the alphabet... the basic construction, the letters can't be used right now for writing, because the vocal changers and the shorters could not fit on the document... I'll come up with this later... for now I would like you to see what can be used... comment and suggest... also I hope that will bring some use...

The symbols look nice.  Since you called it an alphabet, I guess it means that the symbols represent individual consonants and vowels, and the words next to them are the names of the symbols?

What writing instrument is it meant to be written with, and what material is it normally written on?

Awww I made a small mistake... as it seems when I did develop this alphabet... I developed it fitting to my native language, the words on the right represent the vocal sound when spelling the letters...

Well I thought to make it post ancient... where the scrips were still carved into walls or on stone tables... but were also written onto scrolls and even books... written with a brush...

Some technical comments:

- This is Language stuff, not Library related. Library means stories, poems, novels. Language stuff, be it vocabulary or runes, goes in the Languages Forum. I've moved the topic now.

- The title of the topic also should make clear what you're talking about, like "The Athaliteum Alphabet", otherwise it could be anything.

Now to the topic:

Definitely looks nice, hope they are original and made by yourself. How did you make them? Which program did you use? Because the way the lines are drawn it looks quite professional, so I'm wondering.

Ok 1st I ensure you those are 100% icons coming either from my head or are associated to random  runlike symbols... And the concept is written in a notebook... With a pencil... The pc reconstruction I've done with Adobe Illustrator CS 5... Mainly using thr pen tool... At last I juwt changed the line style and that's it

That's fine then, Perab - the runes really look cool and will definitely fit in somewhere. Question is only: Where exactly? Because you now have runes and syllables, but not a language associated with them, or? What's the plan on where to put them? The Forest of Ronoth (see also Seeker's latest picture (http://www.santharia.com/dev/index.php/topic,15369.msg196675/topicseen.html#new))? Does it represent perhaps an ancient culture, which is now gone? This would give you the opportunity not to have to explain everything, but make, say, an entry explaining the rune tables as part of a language, which scholars try to reconstruct. So you'd have fragments only, make some rough translations and don't need to go in depth into creating the complete language. Just an idea of course. Aura +1 for now!
