Title: Hi kinda new
Post by: merin on 13 March 2014, 08:07:09
Hi there, my name's Alex. I saw this yesterday and still trying to find my way around, but I was wondering what t do next. I really like studying mythology in the real world (Haven't got to look at the mythology of Santharia yet, sorry :P) I also have my own writing blog so I do stories and poems. I'm pretty sure I'm going to start rambling now, so I guess just hi.

 :D Welcome.  I'm kinda old.

My sage advice is to read, read, read.  Find where your interest takes you and read until you find holes that need filling.  What can become frustrating for newbies, and this happened to me, is that you come in with lots of ideas, but without tweaking those ideas to become part of this very complex world, they tend not to fit.  When you find a hole, and you have ideas to fill it, the more you know, the better able you will be to integrate those ideas.

But, you will find everyone here more than willing to help.  If you have questions, simply ask. :)  Enjoy.

And I'm so old that I remember when Altario was new  even though I'm more of a forum furniture than an actual developer at the moment ;)

Welcome, and I can only corroborate Altario's advice: read. A lot. And don't hesitate to ask questions if you're not sure about something, we don't bite! (unless you ask nicely)

Hello again, Merin!

I see that you've mentioned in the mail you sent that you also enjoy working on monsters and weapons, so that might be a good way to start. Just check out the Weapons we currently have in the Misc./Weapons section, especially the Overviews. You'll find a lot of weapons mentioned there, many of them just described briefly in a sentence or two, so there's ample room to develop one or two of those - or come up with a new one we haven't listed yet. Same with monsters methinks, but the most entries that need to be written based on rough overviews are in the Weapons section. So yeah, just have a look around, I'm sure you'll find something interesting  If you have questions, feel free to ask!
