Ummm... *thinks hard* Aha! The years are based on how much or little the holy artfact of Yelt's Longsword that belonged to the early descendant of Orcal named yelt Longsword. The calendar was invented when he died.
Hi all! Sorry for not showing up lately. I went through the Nybelmar map again and just wondered if The Green Plain is Orcal-controlled? I thought of it like Rome, keeping control over small barbarian tribes (the tribes of the Green Plain), but not being part of the empire itself...
[start of new entry] Orcal Calendar entry: In Orcal, they have an own, very special calendar based on years with 160 days and 13 months. The abbrevation "b.O." (before Orcal) indicates the years before Orcals founding of Orcal, and therefore, the abbrevation "a.O." (after Orcal) indicates the years after that. The year 0 in the Orcal Calendar would be called 1189 b.S. by the Santharians.
Names on days, months etc.: The names of the days, weeks and months get their name from important historical events like the Coming of Gaffel, that resulted in the day name "Gafflday".
The system: The Orcal Calendar consists of a year with 260 days divided in 13 months with 2 weeks in each of them. One week is 10 days, and therefore there are 20 days in a month.
[ill send Art a mail with the week and month table] [end of possible entry]
Orcal Beliefs: Im doing a little more work on this entry, will soon be mailed to Art.
BTW: I'm right now working on a huge project on Orcal's (the chief) descendants. It is already HUGE! It is actually kinda cool to make up names and people...
Became GREATER, I'd say, Koldar. It is still a great empire, it just lost some of their conqeured areas. But I must have that mountain and that forest!
Just thought that it would be more natural to have Orcal in the north-western corner. And, yes because of the Forest and the Snakepeople. They are ment to be in in Orcal, living in the Forest which I want a mountain in (The Zu'Ka mountain), as this is going to be used in the entry on the Snakepeople. I have made a story which will play an important role in Gnufruk's life, and this is rather important, as he is one of the most influencing persons in Nybelmar.
Can Orcal be moved to the north-western corner of Nybelmar? I think I've misunderstood the whole concept... I mixed up east and west once again, I thought that Orcal was in the north-western corner of Nybelmar.
[Can this be used as an entry on a new race? Will write more later]
Darkoblins, the. One of the few dark-skinned races with relationship to the goblins and the orcs.
Appearance. Most Darkoblins have rather weak bodies and short, sharp pointed ears. They have big, flat noses, something that makes their sense of smell one of the best found on the inhabitants of Aer'ai'chan. They have dark green or black skin, something that is caused by the fact that they live under the ground and very seldom venture to the surface.
Shadowdale. Famous orcish and goblish trading post, with no war intensions that all. This is probably one of the last economic strongholds of the orcs living in Northern Sarvonia. It is located right on the south-western border of the Shadowlands in northern Sarvonia.
Shadowdale was established in the year of 379 a.S., by an insane orcish general named Fafraru Gukor. He died a few days after the establishing, and a huge statue was raised to his honor in the middle of the trading port. The trading port is also known for its inn called 'The Black Water Inn', which was run by Gnufruk Gruknag Groku and his near friends in the later days of his life.
Around and in this village lives many tribes of orcs, goblins and ogers, and even some ice elves have been spotted. If this trading port should be destroyed, the orcs and goblins of Northern Sarvonia would have almost no econmics, something that would cause in a major raiding army against the Santharian provinces. No famous personalities have been borned in this trading port.
