hehehe, my brightness has been changing around ever since I let my dad use the computer O.o, so much for 4 anti virus programs . Oh well, anyway, it's my belief that LCD screens are brighter than the big block ones...... Anyone want to comment on that?
I was just having fun, I was tired yesterday, and my sense of humour slipped a bit, and yes i suppose I will look around the compendium a bit more. So why no need in deleting? That part is confusing me. Off to go read the compendium now.
Ok, I guess I will do that. I'm just bored with iron, steel, aluminium, bronze and the such being used for everything. It makes everything so... so realistic, and boring. So ok i'll leave this here for people to read for a few hours or so, so all newcomers know that metals aren't needed then i'll delete it.
I have briefly looked at other metals, on the compendium, but ok then sure there’s too many 'super metals' then I’ll make a metal of a different purpose, maybe horseshoes, and carriage wheels? Maybe some variety is in order, which you seem to be hinting about. Thanks to the point of asking artists personally, I will do that in the future. I'm currently going out, so I'll edit the metal briefly now, and continue some more later. Oh for the part about finding a weapon, have you ever though people died and the weapon was covered in say sand or dirt? It's not impossible to die you surely know that, just because your weapon smoothly chops armour it doesn't mean that some ugly brute will come and eat you up and your sleep. Plus it may have been a bad fighter, with some extra money, and bought the weapon for show. Ok maybe it was a bit comic that you 'may' find something made of Illeum, but hey, people find meteorite pieces, and lumps of gold and that's in real life. So sorry if you don't want clumsy people dieing in the wilderness and leaving there belongings there but I’m not a god so I can't do much about it.
As for being 'not an auspicious beginning' then oh well, it happens, and I’m hardly perfect.
PS. Don't say you're sorry when you're not, life doesn’t work well like that
Description/Appearance: Illeum is a dense black colour with a smooth surface, and very light. The metal is adamant as well as being highly malleable and flexible.
Uses: Illeum is a good metal for blacksmithing, it doesn't conduct heat well which makes it easy to use, and it has good traits. It's mainly used for forging thief tools such as grappling hooks, and lock picks, due to the light weight and reliability. Or standard metal tools, such as hammers, wheels, and horse shoes. Smith's have not yet found a suitable flux to solder Illeum with, so they stick to welding, which is suffice. Items made with Illeum are very light, but can be welded with other metals to add the weight required.
Availability: Illeum is a common metal in Santharia, and can be found in most mountain ranges, or sometimes near large iron deposits. Many smiths are used to working with Illeum due to it's characteristics, and it's high availability
PS if anyone happens to notice this, and they're a good artist, may I request a drawing of a set of armour or a weapon made of Illeum? if you need more of a description mail me.
Hehehe ok, I'm probably going to start making a large scale entry from tomorrow while I'm on holidays because I wont be able to continue with my 3d Ornager. Maybe I'll make a metal then, and as for going directly to posts that other people have made, doesn't seem to be so good, because they were all made a month or two ago and no one looks at them (already tried it with chain mail I believe). But in the future I can do so.
Sorry I'm used to a bright PC screen, and it was pretty for me, but then again all browsers are different. Anyhow I sort of got the idea while looking at the engineering academy which is large scale, but ok, types of buildings is a bit over the top in many ways, I was thinking an introduction to all of them in a way. I don't know if that's acceptable, I'll see what some other people think, then maybe I can merge something out of that with a better idea.
Ok here goes, this is going to be short, and Artimidor can you please add this to a guide for introducing metals (if there is one......, or just wherever else people might notice it.)
Please please please please please people, add whether the metal can be soldered (I don't know if there was such thing as solder in medieval days, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for santharia to develop, because pewter could be used in place of solder). Additionally whether the weapon can be welded. These are important for blacksmith's to know when dealing with new metals that have been introduced to Santharia, othewise you'll have bits and pieces falling off metal objects all around the place. For example in real life Aluminium CAN'T be soldered, and a way to weld it has just been developed.
So yes, Artimidor when you get this message please post it in a sticky at the top, or something, then we can add to it and make a guide for metal's and anything else that we can chuck in. Or at least give it some thought.
@ Mina : I will do so, for this post and many others to come. So ty for the note.
@ Kain : Those plans owned, now I actually have a better idea on the physics I can make it proper, and maybe even a small movie to go with it on 3dsm . Although i dont know if this site can support movies, any idea on that artimidor?
After making the basic model of the onager, and getting to the arm, and the large wooden rod through the middle i've decided that unless I have to improvise along the way it won't be a completely accurate model to the sketch. So if anyone can provide a close-up of the middle, it would be great, or atleast some detail on the ropes in the middle with a sketch or something like that. I'll probably finish the draft model of this tomorrow, and then do the fine tuning when i come back from holidays.
